The best restaurants serving British food in South East

We had our Christmas evening meal , 20 of us . The food was plentiful and tasty, the servers were attentive. Chef checked on us a couple of times too, which was nice as if he wasn't busy enough . Bar staff were welcoming and friendly . Not cheap crackers that you get in some place . Room was large and a little chilly even though the radiators were on and were hot . Would recommend people to go

Popped in for a quick lunch with a toddler and unfortunately the experience was very poor. Fish and chips were inedible - dripping in grease. Roasted veg panini, asked to be warmed and came back deconstructed and floppy. Every coffee cup was dirty and cutlery was grubby too. Thankfully they offered a refund but didn’t seem to want to listen to why we were unhappy - a big shame as sister store in Lake is always good.

We met at the pub for a girls xmas dinner. The staff were really accomodating as we had people coming and going at different times. They were also super dog friendly, including dog biscuits and water bowls brought to the table. The human food was good. Hopefully the menu will change with the seasons. 🤞

You can't beat great bacon roll and coffee for £2.89.

Pleasant staff and great selection of food and real ales.. Seating is available outside when weather if good and has entertainment.

I recently used Number One The Square for resort suite decoration services to surprise my wife on her birthday, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Nikki was incredibly flexible and transparent throughout the entire process. She went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, even making the best of the situation when the resort unexpectedly upgraded our room. Her attention to detail and dedication truly made the celebration special. I highly recommend Nikki and Number One The Square for any special occasion decorations!

This is a proper pub. No pretensions, no nonsense. The best place in Petersfield to watch sport, play darts or pool and share space with good people. They also do decent real ale.

I bought my daughter here for her birthday. It was absolutely amazing, the food was the best I have had in years! I cannot recommend it enough, we had a variety of mains and each one was cooked to perfection! And really good value for money! The chef has undeniable skills and I cannot thank Sapphire enough for her amazing service from start to finish! The pub is cozy, while we were there the quiz night was happing and it was completely booked out, they were setting up the food for the customers playing the quiz, something we are going to come back and take part in!

Sadly during these challenging times a warmer welcome could be had. To be told closing in half an hour, before being welcomed is sad to hear.

Gemma was a fantastic lady provided great customer service very helpful and friendly she was amazing She went out of her way to get a specific drink and she came with the right drink and gives us a great service

Popped in for a pint and stayed all night. Live band on, good beer and great atmosphere all hosted by the wonderful landlady Yvonne and her partner Alan, thanks guys, cracking night.

The place is very pleasant because the store is really big and offers a lot of products and a wide variety. Nevertheless, the restaurant remains pleasant for having a coffee and a cake but when it comes to food, don't expect great cuisine. The minestrone was unfortunately overcooked. The service is very friendly and attentive to customers.

Fabulous - the food, views, service and space.

Good atmosphere and great architecture and nice service. The portions were smaller than we all expected for the price. £13 for the breakfast and one sausage, bacon & hash brown along with a tablespoon of beans. A little disappointed with that but it did taste nice. After it got sent back as they’d forgot to get the egg ;) Perhaps will return someday if we pass the area again, as the food was a decent quality.

Where do I start….. food was 20minutes early and cold. We informed the restaurant to leave food at the back of our home yet the delivery driver continued to bang on our front door until, I believe, he actually read the note and left the food at the back. Meat in the starter was undercooked, naan was undercooked, potatoes were over cooked and the chicken was undercooked and not fresh (had a greyish look about them). All our food was inedible, resulting in organising a dinner before the football! We’ll be applying for a full refund!! First time we have ordered here and it was the worst Indian take out we’ve had. Never ordering here again!
