Had a great meal at the Three Crowns on Mothers Day, delicious food with a very sizeable portion of Sunday roast. As an added touch they contacted me about the booking to ask about mothers and provided a personalised bag with multiple chocolate boxes for both the mothers on our table. Really nice thought. Will be back for sure.

Took my Dad for a delicious meal in what was once his local, 50+ years ago! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff were very welcoming. The atmosphere was pleasant and comfortable. Lots of choice on the menu. There were all ages clearly having a very nice time. Dad has trouble walking these days but we parked close and he was able to navigate the entrance doors and get to the table safely. We will definitely return!

Good service, good food and a nice pint at lunchtime over the bank holiday. The menu was interesting and I was wishing I had chosen something exotic . What I had was really tasty and it was good Value. Update. I’ve had lunch today after the latest revamp. The food was excellent. The service was excellent and the beer was excellent. What more could I want? The pub has gone up a level. The do bar snacks and cater for the lighter appetite as well as me. Loved it. And I thought the price was right on point. However, service n my latest visit was very slow considering we were the only people eating. Deserts were tasty but I think the presentation could be improved. Seems that the management is forever changing. Hopefully for the better

We reserved a table a day in advance for Sunday lunch.Once seated we were informed that they only had a limited menu that day. They could have informed us that day that they had only a limited menu. They had something we wanted fortunately as we were starving. It would seem that by 4 o'clock they had run out of roast potatoes curiously. They advertise this menu as a lunch and dinner Sunday menu. My advice would be to cook more roast potatoes. Parts of our food were a little undercooked . For what we had I thought the food overpriced and unimaginative . The staff were friendly and moderately attentive. I say moderately as I had ordered a 125ml wine but the bill showed it had been ,as I suspected, a 175ml quantity. We won't be returning.

My son and I were out for a Sunday drive and decided to pop in for a drink and a snack. That plan quickly changed on arrival and, cutting a long story short, we chose instead to indulge in a Sunday roast each. Best decision we could have made; the roasts (1x beef and 1x chicken) were quite simply the best roast dinners we’ve had (aside from the home cooked ones my wife does of course 😉). Every part of the meal was perfectly cooked with a wide variety of vegetables (x5) and beautifully presented. Having the good fortune of being local this won’t be out last dinner here! Thank you!

Lovely staff and nice pub but the food it just terrible!! I ordered the beer battered fish and chips which was more like something from the supermarket and chucked in the air fryer. And the chunky chips? These were a handful of French fries. My friend ordered the roast beef. The beef was tough and the he received 2 “roasted” jacket potato sized “roast potatoes” with it that were very dry. This dinner cost £22!!! Definitely will not be eating here again! This is return visit after the new tenants have settled in, The food at lunch today was delicious and really well prepared. I had the liver and bacon which was melty. I don’t remember having a pub lunch that was so nice for a long time. The haloumi baguette was superb too. Nice beers and great service too. Update: another visit and this time the service was under par. The waitress didn’t couldn’t answer questions about items on the menu and the food took a very long time to arrive. We had deserts and they were not very appealing. The food was tasty enough saying that. My biggest gripe was the loud music and a dreadful low humming sound which was insistent. It was like dining on a ship

The food is delicious and a good value. My wife requested a gluten-free salad and the server relayed word from the chef assuring us it was. However, my wife exhibited symptoms of having consumed gluten shortly after she stopped eating. Fortunately it is not life-threatening for her, but others for which it might be should take extreme care. Also, there was another party in our section which seemed to be requiring more attention of the wait staff and that detracted some from our service. Everyone was very friendly and helpful however.

Food was great. But unfortunately the incredibly slow service completely ruined that. We emailed and booked for 10 people, they requested we pre order our food and sent us the menu the morning of the booking. This information was sent over. We got everyone's food order and sent this over by midday. We arrived promptly before the booking and were shown to the table, the table was set out fine but no napkins with the cutlery. After about 30 minutes the starters were brought out. After those were finished it was then over an hour before getting our mains. We asked a few times now long it was going to be only to be told it will be a few minutes each time. I could understand this if the restaurant was packed but there was only 2 small tables in there. I also understand that there could have been staff shortages but what is the point of preordering our food if it's going to take that long? The bill was discounted in the end but that doesn't exactly fix the service issues.

Considering we were the only table I’m baffled to know why the food took an hour to come, we had to order our drinks at the bar and no staff came over to ask how our food was. If they did come over they’d find out the medium rare steak that was ordered was actually well done and had the consistently of a shoe sole. The other food was nice but the lack of attention was incredibly poor.

Had several meals here (lunches/Sunday roast/dinner), all to an excellent standard. They (understandably) had some teething problems to start with but I would encourage people to try again now as recent experience has been fantastic. They try to make everything from scratch, including lovely sourdough bread for the baguettes, seriously good burger buns and epic roast potatoes! The bar menu for lunch is now very reasonable. The pub renovation has been done really well and they are establishing a really good team of friendly staff as well as making the garden/outdoor seating area look better and better. After attending in July and being disappointed with the Roast Beef my father and I thought we'd give this pub another chance, especially after the owner replying to my past review and saying they took the beef off the menu after hearing from us. We were pleasantly surprised. As before the cheese souffle was very good, and the confit of duck was excellent. The meat literally fell of the bone, and the cherry sauce was good also. Again though the desert, the chocolate torte with honeycomb bits and blood orange sorbet, was the highlight of the highlight for me. The only drawback was no napkins. We've now changed our minds about the pub. Would return. (July)Now I'd give 3.7 stars if I could. The negatives were the beef in the Sunday Roast was not rare and was very tough. The roast potatoes were slightly worse than average also. However, the cheese souffle I had was excellent, as a stater, with no skimping on the cheese sauce. The vegetables were also good, the carrot had a nice fennel taste to it, and cauliflower cheese was provided with it. And the desert was excellent, I had the chocolate tarte with a blood orange sorbet. My grandmother's confit of duck was very nice. Presentation was very good.

Really happy with our newly reopened local. Tried food first time last week - fish and chips very nice but fish portion very small compared to most pubs. Needs to keep an eye on menu prices to avoid putting off locals. Burger and chips at £18.50 seems v pricey...if you consider the Cat in West Hoathly (v established foodie pub) equivalent is £16.50. This is a constructive comment and not a complaint. Seven of us dined there today. The pub inside has been updated extremely well although it was very cold inside as the radiators were Luke warm. For the price charged we were very unhappy with the food. The steak was overdone and only came with chips and mushrooms - no vegetables. The cod was very tasty but the broccoli and potatoes were under cooked. The desserts which should have been hot came cold and had to be sent back to be warmed up. There was coffee and ordinary tea but no fruit teas. Personally I think there should be more vegetables served with the meals and a more extensive menu as it was very limited. They have only been open for a month and I am sure once they get settled in more things will improve

I hope at some stage that someone will realise that all these bad reviews are coming from an ex manager who is hurting badly .. if anyone was smoking in the Three Crowns I'm sure the said Sean would only be too glad to ring the Authorities and get something done about it .. I'm glad to say the Three Crowns has never looked as good and it has never been going so well ,,, with the Resturant and Bar doing very well .. so please come and see for yourself how clean and friendly the Three Crowns really is ,,,,
