Great value for money, I went with an aunt for pre theatre fish and chips ,I had a good sized thick fillet with crispy batter, and a perfectly cooked soft cod inside , it was delicious. the chips were standard chips but perfectly cooked . All the condiments were branded and plentiful. We had apple crumble and ice cream , the crumble no nonsense traditional Apples and spices with a good crumble topping , I have eaten in pubs where you are paying ÂŁ17.50 for fish and chips (see last reviewđ) and had dreadful food , so thought I would up the four candles , Credit where itâs due . Also the waitress who served us was lovely and very helpful .

Here for lunch today and had a really good time. Bren, Mickey and Dave, weâre all making the time theyâre good for all customers. The pizza was lovely and cooked fresh. Thankyou all. Would highly recommend coming here, itâs a very relaxed environment and the staff are brilliant

Absolutely delicious and served within minutes of ordering. Worth every penny and the train journey over from Hastings. I had the large haddock and chips, mushy peas, tartar sauce, bread and butter and a pot of earl grey tea. Everything was so fresh, tasty, best quality and cooked to perfection. You can't beat frying in beef dripping. Lovely lady serving and great atmosphere. It doesn't get any better than Harry Ramsden's...

A massive and quite grand looking pub from the outside which is only reinforced once you enter although it does seem to shrink a bit once you're inside. Even so, it is a wide and deep pub with the bar on the right as you enter with loads of seating everywhere. This particular building was destroyed in the war and had been W&H Stevensonâs long-standing âcostumers, mantle makers and millinersâ. The staff were very pleasant as usual and a few of the local characters were out to play as well, so made for an even more interesting visit. The fish and chips were excellent as was the Guinness.

We went for Boxing Day dinner which was ok for a pub meal. However when I went to the toilet ( female) I found them dirty and in need of a good refurbishment. One cubicle had no toilet roll and the toilet was dirty so I tried the next cubicle and that had a missing toilet seat. The next two cubicles were tatty and dirty. The hand washing area was dirty and I donât mean it was from being used all day. The area around the radiators filthy and clearly had not been cleaned for some time. The whole area had flaking plaster which looked like it had just been painted over. The question which occurred to me is is the kitchen up to scratch hygiene wise considering the state of the toilets.
