The Jack Phillips in Waverley

Sent back cold all day breakfast on a cold plate after waiting 30 mins.... Congealed solid cold eggs..cold beans....colder sausage. It came back 10 mins with better eggs..... Nothing else ...it was even colder! No concept of hot food from person in the kitchen and the unsimpathetic "Manager". We are busy.... I am a Spoons fan...worst meal ever.. Even when you give them a second chance.. Just an insult from people with no concept of customer service and basic respect.. Table 30/ 1230/24 April 24 NB The ingredients were a very acceptable standard.....not the cooking....or attitude!! Oh..Ben Lawn has never been to this restaurant 😄Fake !!

It's Wetherspoons, you know where you stand! However, our visit exceeded expectations. The food was really nicely done - crispy chicken and an impressive pizza base. Service was great.

Ordered all day English Breakfast around 1230 on 19th April table 30... After 30 mins it arrived with cold beans..cold sauges.....cold bacon..and frilly ,cold and solid fried eggs ...... At least the chips were hot! After a nibble we complained to what appeared the large abrupt Manageress. We gave her a chance to show that it was not the normally excellent standard we expect from Spoons ..... She totally failed....most of it was still miserably cold including the actual plate... Absolutely no concept of hot foot...from the cook ...and this Management whose excuse was ...we are busy..... Worst Spoons experience and attitude award !???....

It's a Spoons! Food was a great price, parking free and next door.

Obviously great value for money. But the staff are particularly friendly and clearly happy in their work.

Such helpful & pleasant Staff. Helped sort out a vegetarian brunch. This is the 2nd time I’ve visited the Jack Phillips Weatherspoons, requesting special dietary requirements, and they were super helpful. Nice & clean, too

Food was great and prices unbelievably cheap

Food was shocking,ordered nachos but not even enough sout cream or guacamole and when asked for a bit more they wanted to charge us. Chicken wings were not good either, sauce was rubbish.

It's a Wetherspoons. I had a perfectly satisfactory sausage and egg muffin at a clean table, ordered from a pleasant bar attendant. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. For less than a fiver!

Ordering from table wasn't working (3 phones with different networks) so had to order at the bar which was OK, but server messed up the drinks. Food was ok. Atmosphere was good.

Went there for lunch today and used the app to order 2 x large mixed grills, one with a paid-for extra egg. The drinks took 15 minutes and the food 45 minutes to arrive. There were uncleared tables, and empty glasses were piling up. When the food came, the extra egg was missing. When I mentioned it, they argued that I hadn't ordered it, until I showed them the email confirmation. Also, the meat was overcooked, the eggs were not runny, and the tomatoes were missing from both plates.

In my opinion this is by far the best Wetherspoon pub I've been to. I'm not surprised as Godalming is a quality town too. Internal decor is great. Good lighting, so no problems with reading the menu. Good variety of drinks and food is good quality as always. Served quickly. The hot drinks vending machine worked ok the last time I went at least. Definitely recommend this pub.

Nice staff and food is ok. Today I was served an excellent breakfast (by Spoons standard) so that was pleasing. You know what you are going to get when you visit a Wetherspoons and this place doesn't disappoint.

A value Weather spoon pub. Always busy. Food is served quickly.

Good food reasonably priced with a drink, but missing roasties on the Christmas Turkey dinner.

Not really enough staff to serve quickly enough, not even busy. What I can't stand is bar staff that don't know WHO is next in line to be served. Just shouting "who is next" is not good enough, because there are ALWAYS people who just push their way in when they are clearly not next. Their WiFi is absolutely totally useless. Also didn't see much happy faces from the staff, except to regulars, so no smiles if you are a stranger !! My beer, when I got it, was fine.

This used to be one of my favourite spoons, we come here every Friday for breakfast but the last few times we’ve been have been awful, worst of all was today, breakfast was stone cold and when complaining to the blonde manager her response was “I’ll let the kitchen know” what sort of response is that? She always looks like she hates her job, never smiles and never greets you or says goodbye, absolutely shocking. Won’t be rushing back to this one.

Went at 10pm on a Friday and was already shut. Very disappointed.

I could criticise all day long..this is cheap and you can usually find a seat. Luckily for me Rhys is working today. He has only met me couple of times. I look a state after motorbike collision i drink with straw and cant handle too much ice. I had to order on App as legs hurt. I haven't been in here for weeks. I swapped my JD for Cognac today and was SO impressed when Rhys bought it over with 2 ice and a straw. Little things like that mean a lot when you've been disabled sleep deprived and in pain for 2 weeks 💙

No clean tables all with dirty plates very slow serving have to be told to clean the table poor management everything is in slow motion mode

Cheap beer, cheap food, adjacent car park, very little by way of ambience. Staff generally very friendly but clearly the cheap booze attracts a certain clientele that staff spend too much time sorting out. Great for a quick bite whilst in town. Some absolute Bargains on the food menu and coffee is a third of the price of nearby coffee shops.

Food is good and well priced, drinks are likewise reasonably priced, pretty much as you'd expect from a Wetherspoons. Service is generally quick. My only frustration is that they often close the dining area at the far end of the building nearest Crown Court Car Park, without any sign of it being used for a function, this pushes everyone up one end of the pub which makes it much noisier.

Does the job if you are starving! Good beer and lager selection with a comprehensive menu. Something for everyone. Plus great deals on beer at the moment.

Friendly, cheerful, helpful staff, nice relaxed atmosphere, the food was cooked and served perfectly. We felt very welcome and cared for. Highly recommend for lunch 👌

I normally have an excellent time at the pub, I am a regular customer and never have any issues. I don’t want to bring the rating down for the pub but I was left shocked at my most recent trip. There was a server behind the bar I don’t want to name her on here but she was small with very short brown hair. Her attitude was extremely rude, scowling at me the whole time when I was ordering like she was disgusted with me. I didn’t feel as welcome in the pub as I normally do. I do love the rest of the staff there and it has one of the best environments and atmospheres. Please don’t let this review put you off just wanted to express my concerns so this place doesn’t get ruined.

Nice enough place but it's the noisiest Wetherspoons I've ever visited. Popular and busy, lots of kids but the problem is the sound effects. You get a deafening train whistle blasting every 2 minutes. I asked the waiter about it and he confirmed that it drives them crazy too!

The duty manager on the evening of 29th August 2023 extremely abusive to a group of eight retired customers who were occupying a table near the front door. The manager held the door wide open to allow the smoke from a group of persons her was talking to outside to blow into the pub and on being asked to close the door told the group to move seats rather than apologise. On being challenged he became abusive and subsequently encourage a group of youths to harass and insult the group who were from a local Church. I was quite disgusted with the attitude and actions of the manager who is clearly unfit for his position, shocked and very upset.

Good for a quick meal. WiFi is fast and friendly staff.

Couldn’t have asked for better service! Came in from the pouring rain, found a table towards the back as the bar area was so busy! Ordered on the app, drinks delivered within 2 minutes food within 10! Good hot food served with a warm smile on a thoroughly miserable day!

It's a wetherspoons. You get what you pay for. It is unashamedly basic, usually busy, and great value as long as your expectations aren't too high.

Why would I receive custard with a main meal if I've ordered cookie dough the clues in the pudding. Edit, the duty manager has been in contact and resolved everything with a complementary meal hopefully I can enjoy it before leaving town.

Popped in for lunch as I had a busy work day and an evening event so needed to ensure I was fueled. Did was good, typical of a pub brand and cheap. Service was quick.

Kitchen now open after refurb and ordered meal. Main meal was OK but desserts advertised as having ice cream arrived without...staff member explained that there was no ice cream left, no offer of a refund/discount and had to check with manager if there was any custard and a small quantity was provided. Not a great customer experience and a few yards opposite the pub was a late night store (Kendrews) that has ice cream.

Popular wetherspoons - good choice great value. Cheap ice cream deserts.

The Kitchens are being refurbished, and closed until the 4th July 2023 , so no food when we went on the 27th June , so I should check if you are travelling there any distance, as this is not mentioned on there WeB site

I ordered the 8 ounce sirloin steak with mashed potato. Although the steak was a little bit tough it was tasty. The mashed potato was gloopy and ice cold and left so long in the pot even had skin on the top it was really awful. This is not the first time I’ve had such terrible mashed potatoes here . The chef really needs to learn how to cook it

A great local Spoons with lovely staff. This pub is always really clean - staff are very quick to clear tables ready for the next sitting. Food is the standard Wetherspoons fare, but I've never had a bad meal here. Toilets are clean, too. This Spoons has plenty of seating options, and looks to be accessible throughout.

Excellent inexpensive food & drink.

Service of late improved , thank goodness . Food and drinks good value for money. A number of months later , shortage of staff but they remained cheerful and focused.

Popped in a cople of times whilst in Godalming. Light and airy otherwise a typical 'spoon. Spied the deal on Cod and chips and ordered. Arrived quickly and contrary to earlier reviews it was very good indeed. Would certainly visit again.

Great Wetherspoons, bright & cheerful, good food & friendly staff.

This is our go to weatherspoons. The staff are nice and the place is clean However, it took over half an hour for our food to come out and I had to chase it to find out what was going on. I didnt get an explanation but the food came out a few minutes later and the food was lovely. Will definitely be going again.

A modernish "spoons in an old town. Named after the radio operator on the Titanic, my initial feeling was of a canteen, but this soon gave way to a more nautical feel - with four large columns representing the four funnels on the ship. The staff were friendly and the service was good but it was very busy when we were there and it took some time for some tables to be cleaned. The Guinness was excellent as was the Doom Bar.

Fast efficient service. Breakfasts are good, £1.25 hot drink refills free. A great wetherspoons

Food was ok, when it finally came. kitchen messed up four of our orders, took 15 mins until their food arrived, the manager is very unfriendly to the point of rude.. the rest of the staff were very nice and polite..

Breakfast very poor,everything overcooked apart from eggs.Food as usual cold,shame council environmental health officers,can't visit as they would be appalled,also food area dirty.These companies employ their own hygiene and environmental people so can get away with a lot.

Very cheap for the area, bar service is quite slow, the staff are civil, but not friendly. Good selection of drinks inc. real ales. Food is OK (std spoons fare) but food service also slow, the bar staff were helpful enough to warn that there was a 40 min plus wait when I was there.

Breakfast stone cold,eggs undercooked as are mushrooms.The place could do with a very good clean.Tables very rarely wiped.Needs to have a good manager.

The usual spoons pub. Cheap beer, cheap food, fruit machines. They do pub quizzes and other stuff in a back area some days. No smoking area or heaters.

We love coming over here on a Sunday evening. The food is great. However it’s so cold ! We told the staff but obviously as they’re moving around it doesn’t affect them . It such a shame that we’ll have to find somewhere else

This place is terrible! Me and my dad were coming here in high hopes. We walked in sat down and ordered a full English with egg bacon and sausage when the waiter got our food I immediately noticed my eggs were missing and asked where they were. The waiter said that they had run out. I was on the verge of complaining to him and just let it go. The bacon was cold, the sausage was under coooked. I also ordered a Mocha and I noticed that it as too chocolatey. I would like to get Gordon Ramsey to have a stern chat with them. I will never come back here again. By Ruby aged 9.
