The best restaurants serving British food in North West

I always come to this chippy when I'm in the area and the food & service is always good. However todays experience was not the usual nice experience. This is not a review about the food as this was 10/10 as per usual, the service is what has let this visit down. It was very busy when we visited and I understand that given the noise level when you ordering things can be missed, we are all human. When I pointed out a missing item I was told by the lady that took my order that "you didn't order one " in a really rude manner, now there is a big difference in someone not hearing something and someone not ordering something. It felt like the lady wanted to have an argument about it. Yes this is a popular chippy and a very good one but I think the owner needs to train her staff in customer service. The correct answer should have been "I'm sorry I didn't hear you ask for a buttered muffin, let me sort that out for you". Instead I was left stood there in disbelief being made to feel like I was lying. What made it worse was that the owner was stood right there let her staff member treat a customer in that way, she just stood there letting her staff member go back and forth over a buttered muffin!!!!

Nettes Ambiente etwas ungepflegt, Toiletten ein Desaster. Schade das der Kamin zugemauert ist, das würde den Laden aufpeppen. Vor allem von älteren Semestern gut besucht. Sitzplätze teils etwas seltsam... britisch halt.

Please don't order from this takeaway they are permanently closed but still have the site up and running to steal your money so please avoid.

Came in with the lads after work for a few drinks! Was served by liv and belle. Lovely place to sit and play pool!!! Will definitely come again. Great service

We had come to see the lights at Blackpool. We got there early as we really wanted to go to this chippy as we have been going for years as a family and it’s always been excellent. We haven’t been for a few years but still thought it was regarded as excellent. We were so shocked. It was awful to be quite honest. It didn’t even smell like a chip shop when you went in. We heard “what you having” and looked up and realised it was us who was being spoken to. We ordered and immediately regretted it. The fish was small and dry and the chips were overdone and mainly scrappy and burnt. My other half said his battered sausage tasted weird and my children left most of their dinner. It’s not good when money is tight and you go out for a treat and come away feeling like it was a waste of a journey and calories. Sorry to say . A family tradition has ended we will never go back.

We came to the sparking clog for a special Friday night tea. It definitely did not disappoint. The burgers were really lovely and well cooked. We will be visiting again.

This place really shouldn’t be serving food ! Ive called in for something to eat after a walk , We ordered a Sunday chicken dinner , Wow it was definitely the worst Sunday roast I’ve ever had served yo me , Mash potatoes was smash potatoes , the packet stuff you add water to !! Roast potatoes that had been deep fried and left to dry for several hours !! Vegetables that I guess have been stewing for several hours ! Chicken that had dried out that much it had a dusty taste ! That was just my meal my partners meal was as bad if not worse Terrible !! I’ve just read the reviews from previous customers and they have experienced the same , I have no idea why such a pub with huge potential with a mass of people who pass by Every day think this is exceptable !!? The worst thing about this they know there reviews are this bad and obviously have no intentions in changing anything , and just do t care about their customers This is disgraceful ! Avoid this place by a mile !!

a very busy café that is clearly struggling to service the amount of people that are coming through the doors. Like most places getting staff to work is a major problem and this was clearly visible. The set up is not the best as getting in was hard as the entrance just bottlenecked . Once in service was slow due to not enough staff on but they were doing there best , Coffee and cakes were ok but surprised a bottle of coke at £3.55 was more expensive than the coffees and cakes

I recently came to the bowling green to have the carvery, the meat choice was good however the veg was very minimal with little left in the pans of each choice making it not really worth the money
