The hotel was in a total state of disrepair, cracked tiles in bathroom, burn marks in the carpet, all surfaces scratched stained and dirty. Door lock to room was loosely held on bu exposed screws, no air conditioning making room unbearably hot and if open windows very noisy as on main a road to Manchester. My list of issues goes on and would take up massive of space. On contacting the hotel to address these issues they had no interest what so ever. I left hotel very early in the morning as could not bear to stay there any longer.

Awful place with awful rude staff, don’t waste time your time and food is awful and never anything left, staff were more interested in there night out then serving customers, one staff member which was very unhygienic literally turned her back on my my wife kid conversation when she was trying to explain that part of group did not work want to pay as no food was available

The hotel bedrooms were very clean but the evening meal was not very nice it was a national holiday to Liverpool and tartan park. For evening meal a Chicken curry Luke warm. Tacky rice. Fish pie very sloppy no topping. No veg. Bar closed at 1025 toldto move into reception. No seating there. Breakfast a lot better but we will not be going again. The sweet at night was a piece of cake I think very sloppy

Should be closed down - the ‘caverey’ (sic) had nothing to carve! A tray of chicken bones they called a curry and array of greasy unappetising ribs that you need to be desperate to try. I ordered fish and chips thinking that no chef could get that wrong- the chips were raw in the middle and inedible- if you really have to eat here, buy a packet of crisps

Ate here on a National trip, it was a set menu of soup, beef carvery and choice of sweet, everything was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. I’m giving it four out of five as the soup wasn’t quite as hot as it should have been and no choice of any other meat than beef on the carvery.

Had a birthday sunday lunch as my husband was 60 and my son was 24 - There were 12 of us and they had arranged the table into one long table, the carvery menu is great as everyone can load there plate with food and veg they can enjoy - even had a separate vegetarian menu and waited until this was ready before inviting the rest of the party to choose there food very considerate. Starters and sweets were served to the table, lovely red and white wine (in ice) and would split the bill if you wanted this. I come to the greyhound for sunday lunch at least once a month I really enjoy the service and the carvery would highly recommend

In September 2017 a dozen or so people used the place for a day at the races as it published itself as a sporting lodge Inn we got the races and bed breakfast and evening meal which was a very good deal but wilst there someone noticed there deal for new years eve gala wth buffet and entertainment so some of us booked as we had enjoyed a very good weekend. But today the 2nd January 2018 we returned to our homes very disappointed and angry because the evening was a total desaster as the buffet was chilli , meatballs ,pasta, not the large buffet we usually have at a large event and the price we paid, the entertainment was poor we had a DJ who must have done kids birthday parties as he tried to get people to do silly daft things a when know one got up he spat out his dummy he was the worst DJ I have ever seen. I have never seen so many people around a reception waiting to complain, we will never take the risk to use this sporting Inn again and we await the response to our complaint.

Called in today just after 3pm as we had missed lunch and had a long drive ahead of us. We went to the bar and ordered and paid for the food. The pub was dark dingy and in need of a good overall. We moved table 4 times whilst waiting for our food as the 1st one had the draft coming through a closed door, the 2nd one was too close to a smashed up machine with glass everywhere as the pub had been broken into during the night, the 3rd was draft from the old windows that didn't shut properly and finally we settled on the 4th near a radiator. The food came eventually. I had the stew which was spicy, not very warm and the meat was like old leather boots and my colleague had the Gammon which was very nice but the chips were undercooked as were the 2 peoples chips on the next table. The toilets were filthy and the door fastener didnt work nor did the taps as the water came out of the top and all over the worktop. I certainly wouldn't go there

No valía la pena dirtying sopa un plato y si no tienes sopa como entrante que no dan pan. the place was dirty and the male toilets were broken due to lack of upkeep. the barmaid was lovely however never there when needed. the food menu seems inviting but extremely over priced. the steak sandwich was a slice of steak in-between to pieces of white bread. the fish and chips were edible. we decided to share a chicken club sandwich and it was massive and actually not too bad however i have never had a chicken club sandwich with a slice of bacon in it, chopped up yes, but never a slice. it was probably left over from the ok breakfast. at night-time it is a very loud pub. we were there for the pub quiz and the mic was so loud we had to sit outside on the lovely park picnic bench...on the roundabout...opposite the very bright petrol station. when we came down for breakfast the plate hadn't been cleared off the tables so we had to pile them up. we asked the waitress for cutlery and got a blank face so asked for knives and forks which were then thrown onto the table. because the table hadn't been cleared, and we were too scared to ask the lady for a cup, we had to go hunting for a clean one. very poor service poor food, poor atmosphere and sticky tables

I went with my family for a meal here recently - being new to the area we are trying out different resturants and this one is by far the worst. We waited over 5 mins to be seated - we were just standing there - no one asked us if we needed any assistance. Then waited a further 10 mins for someone to take a drinks order from us - bearing in mind the resturant and bar had no customers apart from us at that point. We ordered our food - King prawns ( as a main ) - I recieved a bowl of rocket with 10 small prawns and a few bits of bread and this was £11.00 - I found it completley shocking at the lack of food on my plate for the money. We complained to the waitress who to be quite frank couldnt care less and made up some excuse about having a new chef that didnt know the menu. With a bill of £65.00 at the end there is absolutley no way I would ever visit this resturant again - given the amount of establishments there are in the area you can get so much more for your money - Poor service, Poor food and massivly over priced. Avoid at all costs.

First time here as a suggestion while driving past. We called in on the Sunday which was Carveray. The interior wasn't that impressive very basic and a little withdrawn and sad. The carveray greeted us on a little set at the back of the room and we was seated to a table in the corner up some steps. We was very exposed to the foyer at the left hand side to us. I ordered Brocolie and Stilton soup and my Husband got the pate. The soup was Luke warm and very watery, more like a broth than a soup. My husbands pate had a dry rim across. While eating I had a look around (as you can see from my reviews I eat at some beautiful hotels/restaurants around the world) I noticed bits of food, smeared Windows and dusty pvc. Was not attractive. It became an oven with the windows, so we asked if we could lower the blinds (how silly of me! They don't work!) the caveray it self wasn't bad! Dry hard as nails balls of stuffing, gammon ok and the rest of the meat mediocre. I couldn't understand why the gravy wasn't at the end of the serving tables???? Not a lot of condiment choices. Overall not that very impressive. One last thing I do hope that chocolate wrapper was moved from the foye table? I notice everything to which this makes my dinning experience........ Make some improvements and who knows!

We decided to call in here for something to eat after we had visited Bents Garden Centre. It was just before 8pm and we went into the restaurant area of the pub which had two other couples inside. We were given the menus which contained your average pub grub. My wife had the Cheese & Onion pie, I had the Chicken. We waited over twenty minutes for the food to arrive and when it did it did not look very appetising. We asked for condiments and were given a couple of opened sauce bottles, I asked for salad cream and all they had was mayonnaise. My chicken was overcooked and extremely dry and my wife's pie was tasteless with a crust that was difficult to cut. The food and service were both poor and we certainly won't be going back any time soon, we also would not recommended it .

I recently took my elderly parents out to lunch, they are 83 + 92 years old and have both recently been ill, so this was meant to be a treat! I rang in the morning to check if there was a carvery that day and was told that there was. We arrived at 12 o'clock to be told that there was NO carvery that day. We decided to stay to avoid any discomfort to the old folks. What a mistake! We chose from the menu but out of 4 meals were told that 2 of our choices were not available. What we finally did get was rubbish! There were people getting up and leaving as we were waiting for our meals, which took 40 minutes and there were only a handful of people in there. As we had a lot of time waiting for meals in the cold, we also realised how dirty and shabby it was! The only good point was that the blonde lady who was working behind the bar, and waiting the tables was as helpful as she could be. She was on her on own and was doing everything. She was very embarrassed and apologetic. What a shame a good worker, with excellent customer service skills wasted, trying to do a good job. I cant stress enough don't bother, you will be disappointed.

When we arrived, there was no record of our reservation, which I had made at 21.20 on Wednesday 12th June. At no stage in the call was I advised that a deposit was required. We turned up on the Sunday and were advised that the only booking for 13 was not in my name. The waitress (Susan) took me through to reception to try and sort something out and I cannot praise her enough. The duty manager on the other hand, was at best ambivalent at worst quite rude. He shrugged his shoulders and advised me that 'they should have told you you needed to pay a deposit'. There was no apology or let me see what I can do for you. Susan sorted our table out in the bar which was great. We ordered our meal and the starters were fine, except 4 of us had the wrong mushroom starter. The main courses - carvery was not great, the veg was not cooked ( I enjoy al dente, but these were verging on raw), the turkey was really fatty, the beef that was brought out looked as if it had been steamed rather than roasted and several of the party left theirs, the onion gravy had raw onions thrown in to it. The childrens meals we ordered didn't come out until 5-10 minutes after ours. The desserts we had to chase as by this time we had been there for 2 hours and the children were becoming tired. These were very nice, but again 2 of our party waited 5-10 minutes for their warm desserts. I went back through to reception to ask for an address to contact to make a complaint, they duty manager advised me to tell him and he would pass it on. This I declined as I am not confident that anything would have happened and I really want to get across how angry I was that our fathers day was ruined. I am so disappointed and have been for our Christmas meal for the last 2 years and I have always praised the food and service at the Greyhound, but I feel completely let down on what should have been a special day.

Booked a table for the breakfast sharing board for two people for this morning. Have to say it was amazing and fantastic value, however today the service let us down. We weren't asked if we wanted drinks, so I asked and was told tea/coffee wasn't included, which was fair enough, so we ordered 2 coffees, the food came and after checking online I saw it included orange juice, so had to ask for that. Great choice of food and such a lovely pub. Have been many times for afternoon tea and always received a nice welcome. I have knocked a star off today for service. We finished our food but the staff serving were sat eating breakfast, so we waited a while and no one came, so had to disturb the staff to ask them if they could box the food we hadn't managed to eat up, not a problem. Staff are lovely, however we shouldn't have to feel we are disturbing them when we need to leave.
