Terrible experience with the receptionis—very rude and unprofessional attitude towards customers over call even over the counter. When we inquired about delivery for just a one-mile distance, they quoted just without asking for the proper address an extra £3.50, which is ridiculous. No manners of talking over call, we specially visited the place to explain this situation, The young guy over the counter was rude and said unusual words even though he was working there. We’ve been picking up food from here every week, but this time, even for a pick-up, they overcharged us on cash pick-up. Extremely disappointing customer service. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone

Came here for the first time & we were not disappointed I got the mix grill with pilau rice & a rogan Josh sauce & there was plenty of meat on it it was delicious and at only £15 it was worth every penny we will be calling again very soon .

Lovely veg curry, full of delicious veggies. Delivery was speedy, and the food was hot. Excellent service and good value for money.

Ajanta Indian Cuisine. Just tried to ring up to make an order for delivery which we have done before and got told that we can’t ring up to order we have to do it online. I then said that we was paying cash and didn’t want to make the order online and was told well don’t order then, we only take orders online. To which I said well what if you didn’t have internet access and was told well you wouldn’t be able to order. Which I said well we won’t order then. The attitude of this establishment is ridiculous.

After ringing before they open to ask if we can place the order as cash payment when they arrive as we dont have the internet. Being told we could to then being told we have to order online 39 minutes later. For those that dont have the internet this is disgusting. Ordered a few times from here and never any issues until recently. Absolutely shocking behaviour from the guy I spoke to on the phone . Also daylight robbery!! You have lost a regular customer and I'm pretty sure you will lose more in the near future!

Disgusting and freezing cold food

Ordered from here last night 28/10/23 The food took an hour and half to arrive. In hindsight I probably could of got curry mile and back...just When it finally arrived me and my Mrs jess who was drifting in and out of sleepy consciousness were treated to a brown paper bag that had sweated that much it had transformed itself into papier-mache Inside the papier-mache ball was a cold carton of rice a cold tokka massala a semi cold rogan josh a garlic naan with the texture of playdoh and finally another bag of papier-mache this one containing soggy wet chips I rang ajanta to share my disappointment when I did this I was asked "do you have a microwave " Everybody knows you shouldn't microwave something twice so I just told him he's deluded. If you want cold , tasteless ,soggy food that takes ages to arrive Order from here you won't be disappointed

Amazing food as always, Ajanta is our go too Indian, food is always spot on. Delivery was fast, food was piping hot and very flavoursome. They read and followed our notes excellent service. Thank you, Adam

UPDATE: Ajanta are now back on Uber Eats but each time I try to order from them, they cancel my order with no explanation or apology. Useless! Since they removed themselves from Uber Eats, the price of my meal has gone up by almost a tenner which means I can now no longer afford to eat here on a regular basis. A starter, main course, rice, naan bread and delivery was about £19 on Uber Eats, but through their own website and or app it's closer to £27, which is too much for a meal for one. I understand the takeaway apps charge a fee, but surely they could cut out the app and charge the same price, keeping more of the sale price? I've been coming here a while now and found that whilst there's usually a wait for delivery, the food is worth a wait.

Used to enjoy eating from here. Now ive noticed the price has gone up by a fiver. More importantly, it is some how cooked and on its way within 10 minutes, it arrived and rice is mushy and horrible. You can tell its all just been warmed up. Wont be eating from here again.

Disgusting customer service having a go at us because we ordered at 22:00 off just eat they could’ve rejected the order but didn’t then turns up having a go telling us to order before 10 next time (like there will be a next time) as the close at 22:30 when they don’t as their website says 23:00 but if so it needs to be put on the website that they stop taking orders at a certain time rude as hell at my door.

Food was tasteless. Asked for plain, they still put everything on it, fries were greasy and overcooked. Wouldnt go back

We have used this take out many times and always enjoyed it. I rang to place an order today and was told I have to use the website which wouldn't accept my login details so they have just lost over £85 in 1 booking to another take away. Now they have also lost a customer because they can't be bothered to take telephone orders anymore

Cancelled my order twice on Uber Eats with no phone call to explain. Cancellation message on app said they were not accepting any new orders but at the time of writing they were still accepting new orders on Uber Eats, Just Eat etc. Very disappointing as been a regular customer before this and always found them a good restaurant. But they have to behave better than this.

Absolutely amazing Indian food, staff are polite and friendly

Fourth time ordering from here and they are now our regular Indian. Bad bits first. They missed our onion bhajis off. And delivery was a good 30 mins after the stated time. But they were mad busy and mistakes do happen. And the delay in the delivery...well it was well worth it!! The food is amazing. The tandoori mixed grill starter is simply delicious. I also highlyrecommend the shazani murgh curry. My wife and myself absolutely love this dish. It's a sweet and sour dish but obviously Indian style. We live in Skelmersdale and we used our local Indian here. But the standards of the ingredients have gone down in my opinion. This place uses top ingredients. It's a bit more expensive then my old place, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for!! The chicken is proper fresh. Not chewy and dry like I've experienced else where. We over ordered purposely so we could have some the next day. The chicken was as delicious as when we received it. Please don't drop your standards ajanta. Your food is amazing. That's why I will let you off with the bhajis and late delivery!!😉

Food was over an hour late and when we rang the first time we got told it was with the driver and would be with us shortly… fair enough we thought, after another half an hour of waiting we rang to ask how long the food would be we got a cocky response of “well ring Uber and get your money back” Avoid this restaurant at all costs. No customer service and no help at all. Avoid it trust me

I have experienced many different Indian takeaways and this is the only one myself and my husband go to every time now. The food is very tasty and always hot on arrival. We've never had an issue with delivery either. We ordered last night (Friday) and it took about 45 minutes but that's expected. The prawn korma is lovely. I ordered mushroom rice which I must say is a bit spicy. Not sure if it's cooked with some spices? I really can't tolerate spicy food hence the korma, but the rice was still edible even with the spice. I ordered cheese naan and this is the only disappointment. There is so little cheese in them that I thought they accidently send plain ones. I took them apart and there was a tiny slither of cheese to the point I couldn't see it. That is my own niggle. More cheese in the naans please :D Other than that, a very good Indian and definitely worth a try. Really good selection of dishes and if you order direct with their own app, you get 10% off.

I'm in New Zealand. Ajanta is in Wigan. My friend is in Orrel. My friend is having a difficult time so I thought I'd provide an evening meal for him. Ajanta have an easy to follow on line payment system. So I placed my order from NZ, I got a really nice personal confirmation and the meal was delivered exactly on time. My friend messaged to say it was really delicious food. Excellent service, excellent delivery, all sortrd well even from NZ. Delicious food.

If I could score zero, I would. Had one before and the wait was 2 hours. Thought I would give them another chance. Wish I hadn't bothered. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Terrible service. Absolutely appaling. Won't bother again.

The food from here is lovely. We usually get delivery and it's always piping hot and so fresh. I did collect it myself once and inside is very clean and staff so friendly. Whilst waiting you can see the chef cooking. The portions are generous and price is very reasonable. The only thing I'd say is the cheese naan could do with more cheese. There is parking behind the takeaway but it's very dark. I felt a bit on edge walking back to the car. I'm really pleased I found this place. They use just eat but they have their own app too which offers 10% off. Really excellent little place!

First time ordering from here today and it won't be the last. Food for 4 arrived 15 minutes early, which was a bonus. All the meals were hot and delicious. I had chicken pathia which can be very sweet depending on where you order it from, this one was hot and sour with just a hint of sweetness, the way it is supposed to be 😋

We ordered via ubereats and our order was confirmed and estimated to arrive at 9pm. Just before this time we checked on the app if the food was on its way to discover the order had been cancelled by the shop and we had no idea!!! I phoned the shop to be told one of my dishes requested no potato which was a request they could not fulfill so they cancelled the order!!! We were told if we were to reorder, they would get the food to us ASAP. After another hour, we still didn't have our order! I phoned again to be told the food would be with us in a maximum of 15 minutes...55 minutes later, our food arrived! 3 hours waiting for food which when arrived was cold and the onion bhaji and pakoras were soggy. Every time I spoke to the shop, I was greeted by a very rude man, who spoke badly to me and took no responsibility for their actions or mistakes and made no effort to rectify the situation, offer compensation or provide reassurance it wouldn't happen again. Very disappointed.

I ordered a mix kabab. It was full off greese I had to throw my nann bread as it was soaked in greese. I always order from here, but tonight was awful. I won't be ordering from hear again. I can still taste the fatty oil in my mouth!

Best Indian food in Pemberton (I haven't tried any others outside of Pemberton in the Wigan area 😄). Always add extra spice to my butter chicken, making it perfect for my palate. Nice bunch of lads, and if they ever opened a restaurant I would definitely eat in.

I have ordered from them several times through the year and like most take aways the food is up and down but the delivery is always when they quote. That was until today. Ordered just before 8pm through just eat and was quoted a 9.30pm delivery. 9.30 came and went with no delivery. Requested a text update. Update came with a delivery time 50 mins after the original quote. Thought about cancelling as that is too late for me only to find out I would have to still pay 50% of the order (in this case I would have to pay £22) which is too much to just throw away so decided to wait. Called the restaurant just to ask why it was taking an extra 50 mins. Was told the kitchen was running behind. Food arrived 50 mins after and the food was tasteless portion sizes seemed smaller then in the past and poppadoms were soggy. Clearly the quality has taken a hit due to being busy but don't commit to a delivery time to then not meet that delivery time and then add an extra 50 mins on top of that. Will be giving them a miss in future.

First time and definitely. never again, I felt sick to what I witnessed especially in the current situation we are in I.only ordered.mushroom rice as I was feeling. a bit off and that was what I fancied As I was paying for it I witnessed a worker behind the counter who was counting money WIPE HIS NOSE FULLY WITH HOS HAND AND CARRIED ON , A FEW SECONDS PAst AND HE DID IT AGAIN BUT ASTONISHINGLY HE THE WENT TO THE COOKER TO SEE TO THE PANS ON STOVE , AJUSTING THE HEAT ON THEM NOT ONCE DID HE WASH HIS HANDS !!!! It knocked me even more sick ,needless to say I threw my order straight in the bin He may not of cooked my order but after seeing what I saw , I wasn't going to chance it , beware

Waited longer than what was told for the food to arrive, however won’t hold this against them as everywhere is the same in regards to extended delivery times and business. Ordered arrived and food order came wrong which was the most disappointing thing, currys and kebab lacked flavour

The food is always delicious, however after ordering at 17:36, being told our food would be with us by 18:45 and then having to contact the restaurant twice as it still hadn’t arrived by 19:45 that’s just terrible service having to wait over two hours for our food and getting fobbed off by the restaurant each time saying the food is on its way when clearly it wasn’t.i would probably be more understanding if it was a Friday/ Saturday night but it’s a Monday? Not even an apology from the delivery driver. When you’re spending nearly £50 on a takeaway that is not the sort of service I would expect.

Everything we ordered was delicious.

Where to start. We ordered the Royal Starter which was very greasy to the point the samosas were actually dripping. The garlic in the garlic rice was burnt which meant it was bitter. The 2 curries were again very greasy. The garlic and cheese naan had very little cheese or garlic and the peshwari naan had very little coconut. Won't be coming back again. Not impressed.

Delivery time was 1.5hrs to start with but ended up being delivered 20/25 mins after that. When it arrived it was cold so obviously sat in delivery car for a while. After spending £30 was really disappointed :(

Honestly it was a second choice tonight as the first restaurant rejected our order. I’ve ordered from here before and always been a nice meal, so was telling my husband about it. Well the food was 25 minutes late, I rang up and they said the driver had left - I’m assuming that’s why the food was just about warm! Also, ordered Pepsi was given coke and the portions were smaller than I remembered. Food tasted ok though so can’t complain at that

Very pleased with this order tonight. It was full of flavour, was hot(temperature) and pleasantly mild. Wish we had ordered Nan Bread too but next time we will.

The food arrived later than late, I called to ask where it was and they told me they were very busy and it would be with me on a few minutes... 50 minutes later I got a call from the delivery driver saying he couldn't find the house... and when I got the food it was cold, bland and just all round disappointing

One of the worst places I have had a curry from, my wife used to get me curry from here when we were dating and they were great, the last few times however they have been appalling... I ordered at 730pm, with an estimated arrival of 9pm... I didn't get my food until after 10pm... and the food was sub standard, the curry had the flavour of mushy baby food, sweet, no spice/flavour at all, until you get to the 3 pieces of chicken and they were just hot not really full of flavour, not to mention the cold naan bread. I called up at 925 to ask where my food was and I couldn't hear because the line was terribly fuzzy, a few minutes he said, that turned into another 45 minute wait, and when I called again the line was "busy" and wouldn't let me through at all! I will not be trying again, it's a shame because they used to be better than this.

The food was very politely home delivered and was on time. The first time that I have seen a select option of Hot/Medium/Mild for each dish. This is amazing. I have been eating Indian food since 1975 throughout the country and been disappointed many a time when your curry isn't spicy enough, you just don't go back there again. But for The Ajanta the food was up there with my best Vindaloo dish of all time, (44 years experience) and the chips were proper thick chips (not the dirty black ones you sometimes see from other food outlets) The rice and the Keema Nann were also excellent...I just can't fault the food which I had from the Ajanta. I will of course be revisiting there many times in the future.

Always great food from Ajanta, and I love the South Indian Garlic and Chilli. Only thing I would change is the minimum order as I have to order more than I can manage but no real complaints!

Been a customer of Ajanta for a few years. Since the refurb we found the food wasn’t the best so we gave it a miss this year. Decided to give it another go and were amazed. Food was hot, tasty and possibly the best Indian we’ve ever had!!! Don’t know what’s changed but wow!

Warm and tasty... first time we’ve tried here will be ordering again

Sadly for the first time I have to put an average review of this take away. Food was delivered around 1 hour late and when questioned they told me they were waiting for a driver. The food was hot enough although the lamb bhuna was the usual tasty standard, unfortunately the chicken omelette tasted burnt. Willing to give them the benefit of the doubt but not again if we suffer the same issues.

Cannot fault delivery time or the food my other half and kids had but I ordered a donner on pitta bread. Ordered it with no salad and ordered garlic mayo. They got it completely wrong, gave me salad and no sauce plus the meat was obviously rewarmed sadly. Will order from there again but not the donner.
