Food was good. Most of the staff were really nice apart from one. We raised awareness in a nice way of issues with plates and a chipped cup. The response was cold and unprofessional.

Visited for a MIL bday meal and a few drinks. 10 of us in total. All enjoyed our meals. Cheeseburger proper flame grilled. Donner kebab delicious. Good drinks. Decent prices. Would go again!

Friendly staff, nicely decorated. Nice little play area at the back for kids but was full of rubbish all over the floor. Other than that, nice pub

Oh it's OK for food and service when youre there but no mention of having to pay for a car park, £60 fine for going a meal. Absolutely disgusting, the signs where behind where we parked and no signs that we saw when we was in the pub, why couldn't the staff mention it to you when you ordered food, who in their right mind would put people off from coming to a pub in this day and age, there was nobody in there anyway so what does it matter who is parked where, clowns

Really really excellent customer service. Was served by a young lad behind the bar, ordered g&t but forgot to ask for slimline but he happened to see what I'd ordered previously and gave me slimline anyway. Unbelievable service on an England euro match night. On top of this I ordered off menu. And the top chap personally made sure I had something to eat as I couldn't eat the evenings offer. It was an exceptionally busy night, but there was really personal service. I was wow'd. Well done Poachers. Excellent.

Great pub for Live Sports with a wide selection of lagers and a good quality pool table. Recommended whether it’s a quick pint after work or a weekend meal with the family.

I cannot recommend this place enough! The staff are amazing and the food is to die for! Plus the clientele wear spectacular spectacles 🤣

Went for a bite to eat with family and sat on a table that was reserved from 3.30pm. It was around 1pm. Next thing an ignorant old man decided to put his pint down and glare at me and my baby grandchild. I asked if he was already sat there (he wasn't) and he scowled at me then said it was reserved to which I pointed at the sign that it was from 3.30pm!! He disappeared them came back again and my son asked what the problem was as we only wanted a quick bite to eat. He said it was reserved and if the people arrived early we would have to move to which I said the time of the sign should be changed then. He said the sign belongs to his daughter who is the landlady. He then said even if we were in the middle of eating our meal, we would still have to move!! This is not the first time this cantankerous man has be rude I may add!! Then the barmaid brought him some food and said it was HIS table. Ridiculous! We left due to his terrible attitude and rudeness and I would suggest the landlady and staff attend a customer care course and not.allow her ignorant dad to abuse paying customers!! If a table is reserved after 3.30pm there should NOT be an issue and it's bad manners to join a family at their table in the first place!! Bad attitude all around. You should treat paying customers with respect!!

I come here 5 days a week with my PA, i am wheelchair bound and the staff always go above and beyond for me , kelly is brilliant, very kind caring and talkative, food is very quick and very good, i spend a couple hours here everyday and there is no other place i would rather be 5 stars on everything for me Scott ashcroft 😁

Sorry cannot comment on Food Or Atmosphere on this visit, although to be fair our previous visit, all 3 categories was great, however, after a day out we called in today for a meal, parked up, paid for parking, (got caught out on this parking charge last time) then went to enter, small sign on door, "Sorry no food today" went to bar and when asked is that right no food on, was abruptly told " No food today", when I explained we paid for parking and only called in for Food, was again told abruptly " Nothing I can Do". Is this not the Pubs car park? a notice on the parking Meter would have avoided this, so not so Friendly service today. Thank you for your reply, however, I think you are missing the point, we only came to the Pub for meals, so, for what ever reason that day you stated you were not serving Food, which you can only find out after parking and going inside of the pub, There was not point in staying. As regards the parking, have been caught out by these parking companies before, as testified by previous visitors to your pub, who have had £100 fines, so ensure I always get a ticket when using these type of car parks, are you the only Pub in Wigan that charge to use their car park? Anyway, it was only a couple quid, it was the abrupt manner in which your bar staff spoke to us that was not very polite.

Been coming to the poacher for many years and it just keeps get better each visit. Kelly is attentive every time we come in. All the staff are friendly and brilliant. There is always entertainment on the weekends and the food quality keeps getting better. I look forward to my next visit.

Absolutely fantastic place. It's spotless and the food is brilliant. Staff are very friendly and you can have a laugh There are two separate rooms and the entertainment they always have on is always spot on. Its a cheap place for drinks and food I would highly recommend.

Just had a fine through the post myself. The Car Park was pitch black, no idea where any signage. No signage at the bar, and bar staff never mentioned absolute joke. Won't be going back.

Terrible - great staff, good pint, nice food……. BUT you will get a £100 parking fine on top of the bar bill a few weeks later, pub management arent interested in resolving the issue at all, signage is not big enough and if you are a local, like I am and have been for 30 years then your used to pulling on the car park and nipping in, no bar staff mentioned it, there was no signage within the pub, just a small sign outside. Disgraceful and a shame as the pub will go downhill as this will not be accepted in the local community. I would not return purely based on principles, you should be focusing on making money from selling good pints and food, not from subletting your car park. The Venture it is from now on, free car parking.

Went in for a few drinks and ended up with a £100 fine months later. Shouldn’t have to pay for parking at your local pub that’s you’ve been coming to years. Lost a customer.

The food was awful,it was just microwaved to death, even the steak was microwaved. I really wouldn't recommend eating here

Kelly and Dan was so welcoming when in the poacher, they made us feel comfortable and looked after us whilst there. 10/10 qill definitely be going back!

Not been here for a few years but definitely gone down hill massively since my last visit. Bar staff are very ignorant and tend to ignore you when waiting. The pub and toilets could do with a good clean.

Had a fantastic time was a last minute decision to go but we all loved it so friendly and the staff are lovely we called in for 1 on my daughters hen party brilliant time and Daniel whittaker the artist was amazing defo worth a visit

First time visiting for about 12 months. Staff were really friendly and helpful, food took a while to come, but it was great once it arrived.

Had a good time eating here, food was good quality and staff we're friendly. I remember when me and the boys were in Syria a few weeks ago pinned down by heavy artillery for over an hour. Phil the chef and Dan from the bar repelled down from a blackhawk and neutralised the threat of over 30 insurgents and flew us out to safety. Surreal stuff indeed and amazing customer service would highly recommend.

We used to go to the Poacher every Sunday afternoon for something to eat (this was over 8 years ago) it got a bit loud and rowdy, kids running everywhere so we stopped going. We saw an offer on the board outside and decided to give it a try with our friends, we arrived at 4.30 so it wasn’t too busy. We had the meal offer of a steak and a drink for £10.50, couldn’t fault it the steaks where cooked to perfection exactly the way we asked them to be cooked, service was excellent and didn’t have to wait long.

Been my local for a number of years now and I can honestly say this pub has been turned round by the current management team. The food is always spot on with a great variety of drinks on offer. Would highly recommend this pub to anyone, great atmosphere and lovely staff! Thank you team poacher!

What a lovely pub we stoped in for something to eat and where delightfully surprised at this little hidden gem walking in I didn’t expect much of the food I was so happy to be wrong the food was delicious a bargain and the portion size where huge can’t recommend this place enough

We had a few of us lads in here last night for the game, great atmosphere, happy to put both the footy and the f1 on a different tv to play to both audiences, pool table, decent food and a good selection of ales. Staff were all friendly and helpful, this place is reasonably priced also. Would certainly return.

I come here every week I am a support worker and my service user loves the chicken tikka masala here. It is a lovely place, the staff are so accommodating and polite. Its never that busy that you feel in the way. Gives you time to spend what time you want to. We have been other places and our time has been rushed. Which is very upsetting for my service user. We are very happy with this establishment and my service user has said he wants to Come here every week from now on. Thank you to all staff. We only know one of their names and that is Neil. Since my last review we have still been visiting this establishment every week and we are still in love with the place and all the staff. So friendly and the hospitality is absolutely fantastic. They have recently changed a few things about the menu and I will only say it is for the better. It was perfect before but is more perfect now. Compliments to the chef. You do a fantastic job. Thank you all of you xxx

If your looking for a traditional local pub then go no further. Great team who go above and beyond for their customers. Nee menu and ask ales back on you ask they listen and deliver.

Me and my mum took my little boy for abit of tea after school and wanted to stay local , and we all absolutely loved the food , my mother is quite a fussy eater ate her whole meal without complaint ( which Is a first ) food was fresh hot and just so tasty ! Made up with it thanks so much

Good price beer and burgers, but £5 for 3 prices of ASDA price garlic bread. Bit cheeky. Honestly. I think you should give me a refund on that.

We have just visited as a family to attend the Hawaiian family party. The kids had lots of fun with the entertainment, crafts and outdoor play section. They have also loved the face painting opportunity too. The party bags were very thoughtful and contained a generous amount of bits and bobs for the kids which made them very happy and excited. We have previously visited the family parties before and also had a really good time. We had purchased drinks and food all of which were great. The staff have been very friendly and welcoming every time we have visited. During the kids party an adult game of limbo was also put on to bring fun and enjoyment to day. This game actually presented a remarkable prize for the winner. This was a family day out to Chester zoo for a family up to 6. A lot of effort, time and thought had gone into these parties. The pub also decorated to theme. I hope these parties continue as they are great for our local area and children.

This place was lovely and the staff were amazing and went above and beyond for us so 10/10 for this. Drinks were good priced and cocktails were fantastic so 10/10. We had the chicken for the starters and omg they were amazing, the chicken moist and not dry and the flavour was amazing so my brother and I were soo looking forward to our main. I order the turkey Sunday lunch large with extra roast potatoes and my brothers ordered the same but with beef. Our order came straight after we finished the starter and unfortunately it wasn't as good as we were expecting. The Brockley was great and still had a good crunch, the carrots were fresh, sweet and taste amazing and the pigs in blanket were great to but unfortunately that's were it stops. The beef my brother had was dry and my turkey was like sliced turkey for sandwiches ( ok I know its not Xmas but maybe change the turkey to pork or chicken if you struggle to get turkey in). The roast potatoes were nice put frozen and had been dipped in oil as that's was all you could taste and was a shame as they looked amazing. The stuffing was ok but dry so maybe add abit off butter to the stuffing mix but unfortunately the yourkshire pudding were terrible so both decided not to order pudding. I would go back but try something different on the menu but not the Sunday roast so we would give the food 6/10.

The poacher has had such a transformation. The pub is the place to be in winstanley. The food, the staff and the atmosphere has changed in a year and every visit it gets better. There is no other place that I would rather have an afternoon drink in. From the minute you step through the door you are guaranteed to not leave without a lot of laughter. The staff are attentive and the management team make your visit pleasant answering any questions you have. Entertainment is back on every weekend and with different events throughout the week you are never left without something to do.

The food is always hit and miss. Sometimes you can go in and you have a lovely meal, other times it’s not as good. It has improved a lot though

One of the best nights ive had in a long time, Lewis at the bar was very helpful/friendly along with the rest of the staff. The food was top notch and the weekend entertainment was well organised and a fantastic night had by all. Would recommend to all.
