worst pie ive ever seen even my dog wouldnt eat it highly recomend if you want to break your teeth and eat skanky reheated so many times it was black on the inside

Appalling. Everything overcooked/reheated and like rubber. But cold with it. Never ordering from again. Even the dogs wouldn't eat it!!!!

AVOID AVOID AVOID at all costs Phone line cut off ordered fish chips and a carton of gravy 30p change from £10 the food was DREDFUL chips undercooked green and not sliced all the way throw Fish stank and had a Dredful taste now fresh fish isn't ment to smell Gravy another Dedful taste and coagulated awful tryed to call to complain but phones cut off and its a place I don't live close to so will never go again and I'm sure it will be closed by Monday AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I waited 2 hours for my delivery and ended up driving to pick it up and was told I would have to pay again a joke . I asked to speak to the boss as I have already paid and wasted petrol he said I am the boss but he couldn't refund me and gave me a telephone number and told me he is in charge of delivery refunds. On the 3rd time I got a answer he told me he has nothing to do with this place anymore. Absolutely disgusting taking money from people like that worst chip shop ever I'll never go again .

Horrible curry. Too much salt and vinegar can't taste curry. Same with Chop suey roll. Coukd of put the 5.50p on the lottery. Gross. Won't be going sgain

Please please please don't go here the missus got me fish and chips. The chips are terrible and the FISH??? DISGUSTING... It's not cod or haddock it's river cobbler or something, it smells off and tastes like that. And it's not the first time this has happened. If you want a good scran go next door ,simple

Food portions have gone so much smaller and prices have increased, the phone line wasn’t working at all yesterday whenever I rang it said the number was no longer in service and the food was 30 minutes late, although still warm that’s about the only good thing I can say about yesterdays order. Don’t think we will be returning anytime soon

The Gold Star used to be known for it's really tasty chips. Sadly the quality of the food this afternoon was dreadful and echoes many other similar reviews as of recent. Chips were hard and many were stuck together, half of which went in the bin, Large fish was actually half the size I'd normally expect and didn't have much taste. I also found a long dark hair in the food. The Staff were however friendly, I hope this and other reviews triggers the management to review their processes and improve, especially when there is a competitor a few doors down.

Just been tonight and this was supposed to be a large portion of chips!! They were absolutely awful, just scraps and cold and they were all dried up, probably been fried a few times today, went straight in the bin! I wish I'd looked at these reviews before going, don't waste your money!!

Delivery was quick which was great, however chips were freezing, like rubber, like they had been sat there all day. They forgot curry sauce, so we rang and they said they would send some out, nobody ever turned up. Salt and pepper chicken was nice

A delicious couple of meals. Everything was hot, well cooked, and plentiful. I never doubted that Gold Star would return to the amazing quality after a very slight blip. If you want a fantastic meal delivered on time, with a wonderful cheerful delivery driver, then Gold Star is the place to go!

Will not be going back here. Ordered a couple of times even though the food is way below average, something always missing from the order, staff are rude

Chips were cold and tiny and crispy albeit they told me they had fresh ones in so I waited in the car and returned 5 mins later . Got home and they were black as well , bbq sauce was like water . Staff swear behind the counter , lack of respect for customers . Definitely won’t be returning

When a chippy can't get chips right there is a problem. Chips were slither thin like paper rock hard and cold. Awful

My first and last time using this company Orderd food for delivery at 6.30 finally arrived at 8.45 wrong order I had called several times to complain but just fobbed off they blocked my no so I called from my wife's phone they answered straight away worst customer service I've ever had my little boy cried cos he had waited nearly 3hrs only to be dissapointed un professional shame on you what's worse is you took my money I wish I'd read the other reviews before ordering should be called bronze star chippy cos your not a gold

This is the worst Chinese takeaway I have ever ordered. I waited 2 and a half hours, I called 3 times during this wait. the first time I was told 10 minutes. The second time the lady over the phone said “oh is this (my address) again? Your foods coming I told you before” and hung up. The 3rd time I called the lady getting even angrier said “are you just trying to get extra stuff for free or what” When the delivery woman arrived 2 and a half hours late she looked at me like I’d done something wrong basically threw my food into my hands and walked off. The ribs I’d order were plain salt and pepper ribs but these were bbq that arrived unknown to me so had dripped all over my bed as I thought I’d be getting dry ribs. Then opening the chips I’m greeted with about 10 chips a far smaller portion than u can imagine. Do not order from here.

This normally wonderful Chinese takeaway was let down by lack of drivers. One lady doing all deliveries. She looked so exhausted!!! A wonderful lady who obviously did her best. Our meal was a few hours late. The rice meals with curry were still very hot but the chips were cold and in bits and the fish was cold and dry. This is unusual for the Gold Star and I will order again of course, but the delivery system was let down and a mass of orders coming in around the same time caused a perfect storm. I will ask Just Eat for refund for the fish and the Scampi Dinner.

Very disappointed, usually food is great but today chips were hard and cold. Fish was hot but inedible as was tough to eat not flakey as usual. Upset as most went in the bin.

I wish I could rate this place 0 stars absolutely disgusting, I ordered a kids chips got all sharp cold scraps, battered burger was soggy and cold, other burger was burnt and cold, chop suey roll... is that what you really call it? That's a flipping spring roll a small little thin thing doused in salt, did you store it in the fridge for tomorrow's servings? It was very cold i was debating if it had even been cooked. Them salt and pepper sui mai were the only thing to turn up hot and was so bad it was like the seasoning was tipped on them and just put the lid on and shook 🤢🤢 all in the bin they went! AVOID WITH ALL COSTS!

The meals were as fantastic as normal. They did arrive late, but these things happen and the food was delicious and hot when it arrived. I still highly recommend this fantastic takeaway!

Been coming here for years and every visit it gets worse. No longer pay by card, portions are smaller and the price has gone up again. Last time I'll going here. Shame really.

Waited nearly 2 hours for our food, the woman on the phone was very apologetic and lovely. Food arrived and had some of the order missing.

Another delicious selection of meals. I cannot praise Gold Star enough. Plenty of food for the next day as well!!

Absolutely fantastic!!! The Special Curry is the best curry I have ever had!!!! Their Vegetable Spring Rolls are also delicious!!! Always delivered with a wonderful smile and the person who always delivers from the Gold Star makes sure my wife has hold of the bag and not struggling. I am severely disabled so it's reassuring to have a wonderful place like Gold Star to order from!

Absolutely a joke of a service! Over 3 hour wait said it was in its way and not even shown up! Avoid even going here.

We have waited over 2 hours and they are not answering phone still not recieved food ordered at 5.20

Asked for an update when it didn't show up on the website. The chippy said it was on it's way and would be 20 minutes. 2 hours after ordering put a request in for a refund. Not heard anything back off the restaurant. We did try calling the restaurant but they don't answer the phone. It's a shame this chippy has gone so down hill as it used gto be nice. Looking at the reviews and I'm not alone, seems to be happening a lot.

To be fair not one to leave bad reviews, the salt and pepper chips the oil needs changing they were vile, fried rice was nice, mixed noodles were nice, bbq sauce was lovely, sat and pepper was the biggest robbery ever over 8 quid for it and got 6 pieces of chicken with about 20 onions and 50 peppers to fill the box then extra for the rice was an absolute rip off would never ever order again just for the quantity of the main part of what was ordered, 6 pieces of chicken joke

Food took over an hour to be delivered. The portion size for the salt and pepper chicken was terrible for the price. And the chicken fried was cold and had ham in when I specifically said in the notes no ham.

Just eat confirmed my order, never got the food.

Found this absolute gem, quick service, the chips are my all time favourite and the curry is perfectly hot. Really lovely staff, always busy but a nice welcome. Food was delivered an hour late, well ordered at 6pm and got delivered at 7.40pm. Food wasn't very warm and only got a small chips when I had ordered a large.

Ordered mixed kebabs for delivery when they arrived no bread no sauces just meat in a tray worst chippy service I have ever had won’t be ordering from there again

Excellent food!!! I even got a phone call from a lovely lady asking precisely which type of pie we wanted!! On time, told that our meal was being prepared at that moment. Great piping hot, tasty food and and wonderful delivery. This company should be the template for all food outlets should use to improve their customer service!

An absolute young gentleman delivered our food , we didn't get a chance to tip as the puppy tried to run out the door, but will be dropping a well deserved tip off through the week, well done little man

Wonderful food delivered on time!!! The larger companies that do fast food need to start to buck their ideas up. Gold Star is serving up delicious meals whilst McDonald's and Subway are failing to provide the service we deserve, especially with the massive price increases.

Strangest Chicken Kebab I've ever seen. No salad, no sauce. Just a big carton of what looked like shredded gammon and a dry pitta bread.

The duck in plum sauce was divine. And a fresh, crispy fish. Delivered early, hot. A great experience and I’ll Oder again.

Food was nice but had to be rushed eating it due to being on night shift. 15mins made all the difference in rushing food down.

Portions are quite small half filled tray not much gravy or peas on the sausage dinner so quite dry delivery was perfect though 👍

Food was lovely but the salt and pepper chicken was rather small for the price of it. So wouldn’t buy the salt and pepper chicken again only due to the size of it, even though it was lovely just way to small for the price. special chilli and garlic was beautiful and size was perfect. So do recommend this takeaway but avoid the salt and pepper chicken only due to size as you will be really disappointed.

The gravy wasn’t good at all, it was clumpy and tasted sour. The sausages were like cardboard and had a strange taste. The chips were okay. The delivery driver put the food through as delivered on time and then showed up 10 minutes later whilst my friend stood outside waiting for 10 minutes as the update said it was delivered

Food was lovely, however I ordered chips and nuggets and just a small tray of chips turned up!So £6.35 for a small tray of chips and a can of drink .
