Excellent hotel with perfect location for Kendal and into the lakes. Fantastic facilities on offer. Families are welcome and good value.

We’d visited this pub some years ago for a drink so decided to call in again for tea. I’d read the reviews which sounded good, so Friday night called in to find busy lively pub. Ordered fish pie and steak and ale pie with a pint of Robinsons ale. The food was wonderful. The steak and ale pie was a straight TEN. Fish pie could have had more fish and prawns so an EIGHT. Good portions and great atmosphere. The place was buzzing, and you can see why. You have to wait for a table but it’s well worth waiting. All the food we could see looked fab. We’ll be back soon.

After booking a table for 5pm , thought a roast dinner would be nice , on arriving we are told only roast beef was left , so my husband went for beef I went for the Vegetarian roast , on arriving my husband has one very small piece of broccoli I had 2 small ones , dried up 3 little roast potatoes and mash potatoes was cold so disappointed ! We did point out our disappointment which they said they would take away bit if they had veg in kitchen wjy not serve it !!! Will not be going again , if your going to serve a roast then serve a full hot roast !!

Unbelievably cheap and cheerful with friendly staff. Food (apart from snacks) isn't served but if you just want a drink in a friendly atmosphere in the centre of Kendal you simply can't beat the George & Dragon.

Fabulous meal here despite being slightly worried as had read a few negative reviews. The menu is imaginative and really well presented on the plate. Yes there are no fish dishes and only game or vegetarian but it wasn’t a problem in any way. Fabulous food and will definitely return. We stayed for one night and booked the cheapest room which was very small with no frills at all but the breakfast was great and the bed very comfortable

Girl on the bar had a terrible attitude. She sas so rude to us, then had the audacity to make it out like we were in the wrong for leaving- despite her telling us that we HAD to sit in the bar area, despite us telling her multiple times that there were no tables. We went in to a room with around 25 empty tables (only one couple sat in the entire seating area) after realising the bar area was full. As we walked in, we saw her and asked if we could sit in there as there were no tables in the bar area. She then said "you can't sit here, it's for people having food". Despite not asking what we wanted, she just presumed. We then told her we were looking to get some drinks and some chips/starters/sides to share. But she goes "well you'll have to eat them in the bar. It's for main meals only". We said again that there were no seats in the bar, and she kept repeating "well you can't sit here". Okay, so we will leave then... She became very angry and rude, raising her voice and giving us a horrible look "fine. Be like that. Leave if you want." I turned around and said- "well, what other choice do we have? There are no tables, and you've said we can't sir in here?!" She just shrugged her shoulders and gave us yet another dirty look. Saying we could sit in the bar. What part of 'there are no tables'didnt she get?! I spoke to the supervisor on the bar, who was much more approachable and I explained the situation- he just said that the rule came from the owners about the area being for main meals. I said that he maybe needs to feed this back to them as it makes no business sense. Also the bar girl has absolutely no customer service skills. Was very rude and left us feeling very uncomfortable and upset. It ruined my stepdads 60th Birthday. Please, do not go there. And if you do, avoid any interaction with the horrible girl behind the bar.
