George And Dragon in South Lakeland

What a cracking town pub this is. Since Steve and his team took over just under a year ago joined with an extensive refurb the place has just gone from strength to strength. Whether it’s live sport, karaoke, live music, disco night or just a quiet family drink there’s rarely a week that passes where the George fails to deliver. To top it off it’s probably the cheapest bar in town too. Keep up the good work a credit to the Kendal pub scene.

Nice pub. Friendly staff and decent prices. Seem to show a lot of sports albeit it was Cheltenham week so on major channel.

What a disaster… Although the drinks here are cheap, the customer service is the worst I have ever seen in a restaurant or pub. It feels like a personal attack to ask for something, one of the staff who all wear non uniform so hard to tell if they actually work there or not, came over 3 times to moan about something different if it’s a coaster, question what was in a drink (which she sold us) or just give us grief. The boy on the pool table with glasses claimed the pub was his and was very touchy and over sexual with a few female members of our group. Shortly after this we left as he made us very uncomfortable and you CANNOT get a pool game in peace here without one of the owners wanting a go. You are all so rude and it’s the word around the area so some friendly advice would be change it up and whack on a big smile.

Fantastic welcome and great service from Melissa, genuine old fashioned Kendal atmosphere. Pool and darts to play with sports on the TV. Very accommodating!

Unbelievably cheap and cheerful with friendly staff. Food (apart from snacks) isn't served but if you just want a drink in a friendly atmosphere in the centre of Kendal you simply can't beat the George & Dragon.

Fabulous pub. Full of character. Women behind the bar was very friendly. I just wish I could of stayed a lot more. Highly recommended

This is an absolute 💯 amazing little place 😍. Me an cupple lads went out an found this little gem. The staff are absolutely amazing.. the owner is a legend. Just couldn't rate this place any better. P.s I still owe you a lemon 🍋.

A fantastic bar, we received a warm welcome from the gentleman behind the bar. A great selection of draught and reasonable prices, always a treat to see real ale on tap. Overall this pub is a winner, winner; check it out!

Went in on a Sunday night with two friends and as soon as we walked in we knew we’d made a mistake! The woman behind the bar was so unfriendly and made us feel like we were an inconvenience just for wanting to order a drink! After we got our drinks we went off to sit down whilst the unfriendly woman started shouting at a man by the bar! We quickly finished our drinks and left! Back in the day this used to be such a great pub and was always busy. We won’t be visiting again though. Don’t like to feel intimidated on a night out!

Shocking management hardly any draught available, what there is is flat absolute joke! Staff don’t care. Got a pint of Amstel which was awful took 2 sips asked for a refund and the barman gave me a receipt from the till which was ridiculous had to demand cash, no wonder the place is deserted!!!!

Bit wild ,,for the young ones really , I wanted to watch the footy and plenty of screens to choose from. Cider was really cheap and staff as professional as can be !

This was a lovely pub to visit, with a well-presented counter! The atmosphere is lively, design feels large and I used it to relax with a glass of water alongside my friend during a headache.

Bar lady is excellent and very welcoming. Pub a bit rough and ready but at £6.50 for a lager and a zinfandel wine, you can't really complain. Also opens at 12 noon when many others nearby don't open till 4pm. Has pool tables too.

Sitting with friends having a nice time then the music is turned up so loud you can't hear each other,we all left refused to turn it down. Not good

Cheap beer but that's were the positives end. The pipes hadn't been cleaned properly so the beer tasted like swimming pool water. Probably the worst pub I've ever been to

Good pub with locals, bar start was very friendly

Good service and reasonably priced beer, however they don't have cask ales. Can get very busy at weekends & when there is a football match on tv. A quick update they now have 2 cask ales on sale if that's your bag.

Visited here when me and my husband came to Kendall for a valentines break . The derby fell on the day of arrival so we went looking for a pub to watch it as the hotel didn’t have it on. As soon as we walked in the barmaid was so welcoming and lovely. We ordered r drinks and watched the match , half way through ordered next round of drinks and the barmaid remembered r drinks and no ice In mine . So friendly and welcoming ! Cheap for drinks and enjoyed r little visit here ! If your coming to Kendal and want a friendly atmosphere pub defo try here .

Nearly as cheap as Wetherspoons with a pool table ..

We visited here on a bleak afternoon looking for a refreshing drink. Guinness is lovely here (just make sure you ask for it first). Sports on TV and a pool table too.

Alright for a quick pint but couldn't stay for longer than that as the toilets stank and the bar area stank of peoples sweat,needs a good refurbishment

I kept getting drawn to this place on a recent holiday in Kendal. Its a " local " so plenty of friendly characters in the place, great for sports on the many TV screens, good selection of the usual crowd pleaser beers and at a price that is great value

Visited because it was one of the only pubs in the area which appeared to have a pool table but it was "packed away" for the weekend which was odd. The drinks selection wasn't massive but not bad.

A traditional local pub, regulars will chat happily to newcomers very friendly atmosphere, clean and tidy, dog friendly, very reasonably priced, no food available, but nice outside seating area, well worth a visit.

Went here for my daughters hen party about 7.30pm on Saturday evening , got drinks & were just sitting chatting when one of our party asked the barman to turn the music up which he did, then the manager came down & turned it down, when we asked why he said his partner was asleep upstairs? He was extremely rude to us shouting & swearing . We said we were leaving but a couple of the women hadn't finished their drinks so took them outside, he then came out & accused them of stealing his glasses! Customer service? I dont think so, used to go in this pub a lot in years gone by, will never go in again

Stayed in Kendal for two nights with a group of friends and discovered this little beauty. Great to watch sport with good televisions everywhere. Cheaper than Wetherspoons (I don't know how ) and spotless. Nice friendly clientele. Angela - a proper good old fashioned bar...

Great local pub, wish we had found it at the beginning of our visit as opposed to the end. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and the prices aren’t insanely inflated (unlike the rest of Kendal it seems). £2.90 for a pint of Staropramen ! Highly recommended.

We came to Kendal to visit friends and decided to check the George and Dragon out. I really can't recommend it enough. Karaoke and sports bar with a constant stream of fantastic music and atmosphere...what more could you want? It's belting and the staff are...

I've not been in the George for years so we decided we'd call in. Pub was busy but service was quick. Staff seemed friendly and tables were cleared quickly. The only offputting thing was the overwhelming stench of bleach coming from the loos. I know...
