Village Inn in South Lakeland

Great Pub and very friendly staff especially a young lady by the name of Siobhan. Nothing was to much for her. One of our party lost his wallet and she found it and returned it. So trustworthy and very helpful and a great asset to the Pub

We drove past and saw Goulash - could not resist after that. Visited this evening and had the best meal - the goulash was amazing, a bonus goulash in Bowness. Service brilliant, food amazing - top place all round

We visited the pub during a visit to the Lake District and were greeted by Siobhan. She was very bubbly and friendly. Such a lovely friendly person to have serving customers and made us feel welcome. Thanks so much.

We had a lovely afternoon sat in the beer garden with our dog Harvey, all the bar staff were great, especially Siobhan. She never stopped.

Really friendly welcome for us and our fur baby. It was full of dogs and their owners with a real friendly atmosphere. We loved the doggy menu and the human food was tasty too.

Went here for drinks on the 3rd and went back for lunch on the 4th as the staff were so good and helpful. We had two dogs with us ,a Hungarian Pumi and a young St Bernard. The blond cheerful woman who sings as she works was amazing. Rushing around to make sure not only the humans had everything they wanted but that the dogs all had water bowls and biscuits.The food was excellent would thoroughly recommend.

We popped in for Sunday dinner and to be honest did not expect much, however we were wrong. Lovely rare roast beef, fresh veg and a massive Yorkshire pudding. They also have a dog menu so he had chicken . All the staff were lovely , attentive and chatty

One place we’ll definitely not return too. It was a Wednesday afternoon & we chose a table outside, as it was a nice sunny day. Tables were about 50% occupancy outside, nobody inside. However the queue at the day was terrible. I counted 8 in front of myself, few joined behind. Just 1 young girl serving, & if someone ordered cocktails the queue just stalled. Finally got drinks & ordered food. When the food did arrive. Let’s say the young waitress with two toned hair needs some training in customer relations. Poor attitude & miserable persona is putting it lightly. Same with the tables around. Food literally dropped at table & told to go get you own cutlery. Will add, there wasn’t any Cutlery where she said to go, just sauces. Had to search about looking…. There was another older waitress, who had the same attitude. She said something very abrupt in a course tone to a couple on another table, the couples face looked stunned. Place is in an excellent location. Venue is nice too. However, the food is mediocre compared to that around for the money. Staff, that’s the big flaw. They are just horrible to the customers….

This place is lovely the pub alone looks nice inside and out. The staff and food are really great to. I came here with my family and will be coming back again soon with friends.

We happened upon this establishment on our anniversary break. Nice wine and good food. I can recommend the bbq chicken strips. Sherry was the perfect host. We will return.

I had been out for a lovely walk in the area and whilst staying over close by one of the locals when having a coffee recommended this little place to try . So as i like to try new places why not. And i can say i wasnt disappointed. From first seeing the place from the outside it was lovely and seemed very inviting. Lovely seating area . Walking in it was tastefully decorated and modern . Areas inside seemed warm and inviting. Found a lovely little corner with my friends and decided to have a drink first while scouring the menu. Bar staff very friendly and chatty on arrival which made it seem like a very friendly place. Seemed very knowledgeable about the area and advised of other places to try . So decided on a drink and a scour of the menu. They didnt disappoint . Seemed to have a good menu choice and catered for all of our party including veggie options. Once meal arrived the food looked well presented and inviting. Smelt and tasted delicious. Staff checking if everything was ok was a nice touch too. No problems with out meal. I myself decided on Katsu Curry and it was delicious. Great portion sizes and not one complaint between us . Defo a winner in my book. Bar Manager seemed very friendly and approachable when passing asking if everything was ok. On leaving we had nothing but good reports about the place. Next day we again went back for the Sunday lunch and again not disappointed. Very friendly staff again, delicious sunday roast and a lovely cozy atmosphere to boot. This is defo going to be a new place to frequent on visits to Boweness. SO big massive shout out to this place and the team fab job ! one happy customer and i will be spreading the words to other colleagues of mine who work within the hospital and mention what a hidden gem this place is. Lovely pub, great location. Really well decorated and the staff were friendly. Food took a while to come out and was a bit pricey but I put that down to the location. Throughly recommend as the food was delicious!

Visited early on a Sunday afternoon after travelling to Lakes for a 2 night stay. I’d assessed food options & chose Village Inn as it offered new potatoes or jackets which everywhere else seems to just offer chips. I ordered a steak with salad & side order jacket potato (no new potatoes available). Food was nice & reasonably priced & I also used my NHS discount which was a bonus. People around me were having the Sunday lunch which looked very good, Yorkshire puddings were huge. You can just walk in but as I was alone I booked a table on line to make sure I got a table. I would definitely eat here again due to price of food. Everywhere in lakes seem to be hiking prices up unreasonably.

Went for a week away with friends. Came across the village inn and we decided to give it a go. Wow the staff our amazing anything we asked for they could do. Even gave us a couple of free shots as we was there for a hen party. Manager made sure that we was happy the hole time and the food was out of this world. Keep it up guys and we will be back soon for another hen party.

Went with my family of 6 one of which being a toddler, the staff was lovely and I couldn’t fault the service. My toddler suffers with spaces that are too over-stimulant however he absolutely loved it here the staff encouraged him to play with his toys he has brought with him, as he isn’t really a fan of colouring. The atmosphere was just great and I couldn’t knock the food the whole table really enjoyed everything about the experience. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a great atmosphere and brilliant food!!

A very welcoming place that serves lovely food. Dogs are welcome and catered for. Very good service, Jill goes the extra mile wherever she can and always has a pleasant and welcoming attitude. I would highly recommend you give this place a visit when you're in the area.

Don't order steak, requested medium but it was pretty much raw. Shame as the atmosphere was good and bar staff friendly.

Note: Further to this review I was contacted by Ranya Business Development Manager for Greene King who was most apologetic for my experience. Further staff training will be put in place and dishes will now be presented with a ticket to highlight the dish has been checked. I was also given a gesture of goodwill voucher which was a nice touch. Visited whilst on a weeks stay in Bowness and because they have vegan options. The first thing which we were surprised at was the price of a pint of Peroni and a bottle of Brewdog Punk IPA was £11.95, we'd just been to The Quayside and a pint of Moretti and half a Neckoil was only £8.50. I ordered the chickenless tacos, corn ribs, mushroom chilli and a vegan Beyond burger, I stressed several times I wanted the vegan options and told the barman I was allergic to dairy. The starters came and the tacos looked nothing like the description on the menu, it should have been chickenless goujons and it wasn't. We queried it and the barman had ordered the chicken tacos.... I haven't eaten chicken in decades and I felt sick at the thought I could have eaten it. I double checked on the Beyond burger to make sure they did not put dairy cheese on and thankfully this was served correctly. The excuse the barman gave was the till was at fault (whilst also telling me he had been in hospitality for 5 years, but I have to ask what's that got to do with it). Imagine if you had a severe allergy... I don't think they understand the horror I may have eaten meat, I know it wouldn't kill me but as a passionate vegan, this has really put me off ordering any kind of meat alternative in the future. I also make sure to memorise what the dish description is and on this occasion, it saved me the trauma of eating chicken. The actual food we did eat was very tasty once I got the right starter, but it did rather cloud our experience of the evening.

Visited on an evening, the staff were absolutely lovely and the food brilliant. There was a large selection of colouring material, combined with the dog friendly atmosphere my 4 year old was very happy. The staff checked in on him and were very welcoming. A coach party had come in just before us, but they were honest there would be a wait, but food still turned up earlier than the wait time. Brilliant pun, brilliant staff, well done to the management for running such a great establishment.

Finally, somewhere that is genuinely family friendly - and reasonably-priced, too! Nothing flashy here: just reliable food choice if you’ve got small children. They have high chairs and the speed of service is good. One of our boys is fussy but there was something for all here. Only slight down would be that fruit shoot is the only drink as part of the kids meal deal - it’s so cheap, you can easily just buy the another drink of choice as we did. Adults ate a selection of the lite-bites - I’d recommend the tacos! Being a pub, the selection of alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks is plentiful. High chairs and pre-meal colouring available, too.

Fantastic service, food was amazing so tasty highly recommend the rump steak with the peppercorn sauce. Staff are amazing so friendly and helpful.
