The best restaurants serving British food in Chester City Cheshire West and Chester North West

I ordered afternoon tea to be delivered to an air bnb we were staying at for my hen do, and the food was absolutely gorgeous. It came on beautifully wrapped and presented cake stands and individual dietary requirements were catered for perfectly, giving those people their own box of goodies. Everyone loved the food and it was soooo reasonably priced. Very impressed and would 100% recommend! Thank you 🥰

Great value breakfast with brilliant understanding of gluten free needs. Just told them and they adapted to suit. Very welcoming and quick service.

£7 for a salad the size of a tennis ball…. Plus we had to go to the bar to order drinks as they were so slow!

On Brook street there's a brilliant local pub thats called Ye Olde Cottage Inn that offer a well priced range of drink's and it was an excellent pub to visit as is this area.Ye Olde Cottage Inn has a traditional pub look and feel with nice fixtures and features and lots of good seating options. It has a bagatelle table and I think a dart's board and when we visited here it was very busy.This is what pub's should look like and you can see why its such a popular pub.On our visit we had a few cask ales as this pub offers excellent cask beers. When we visited here we had a few pints of beers from the Otters brewery which where perfectly served and were well priced. Its a superb local pub'one of the best local pubs we went to in Chester and its a place well worth visiting.(This is my second review of Ye Olde Cottage Inn). Opening Hours. Monday-Friday-16.00-23.00. Saturday-14.00-23.00. Sunday-16.00-23.00.

Given a Groupon voucher as a gift for this meal. We got the budget Groupon service. Small table tucked away. Tonight a long story short the rump top steak cut we were only able to have with this package was so chewey and poor it had to be re cooked just to be edible The monkfish cheeks I had as a starter was tiny and smothered in a curried sauce the triple cooked chips were processed thin croquettes. And the Dirty mash did t seem to have the bacon lardons. Just some gravy and a sprig of cooked onions. All in all a poor showing for what looks like a lovely place to dine. To top it off the first bill presented was for the full meal no Groupon voucher taken into account. And the waitresses rolled her eyes when I explained their error. Chester has a lot of dining experiences and we go to a few when we can. I don’t think we will revisit this one.

We went for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago and weren't disappointed. All of the five star reviews are definitely spot on. The food was lovely. Best Sunday roast I've had for a very long time. Advisable to book as it does get busy and you really won't want to walk in and smell the food only to miss out!

Great small cafe with a good and varied menu. Very reasonably priced and I'm always happy when light bites are offered. I had scrambled eggs on toast and my husband had a mushroom and tomato bap, both arrived quickly and were piping hot and well cooked . We also had a pot of tea, best cuppa I've had for a long time. Also the Lady serving was very pleasant. We'll definitely return.

One of the best coffees we've had, lovely eggs and great ambience for a Christmas shopping refuelling stop. Would absolutely recommend.

Just had afternoon tea to celebrate our anniversary. The food was delicious and the staff were outstanding. The dining room was warm and cosy. Altogether a memorable anniversary treat.

Really lovely cafe with incredibly friendly staff and great service. They are very dog-friendly too. Only stopped in for a quick bite but we were really impressed by how welcoming they were. Our lunch was also very tasty.

I came here for an early evening meal, the place was quiet. It's nice to see the chef at work, from your table. There's a counter bell for when a order is ready; I suppose this can get a bit of annoying when it's packed. I decided to go for an 8oz steak, with rocket salad & frites; the peppercorn sauce was extra. I had it well done, it was just right; although there weren't many frites. So I decided to have a desert; a twist on the apple pie them, with an apple pie pancake. This came with icecream on top, and some kind of sweet sauce.
