I'm not sure where to start. On attending a very special birthday celebration yesterday, we were somewhat extremely disappointed at the stand of the hotel now, it has definitely declined. We have used this hotel for over 30 years to celebrate different events. This event was prebooked for a very special birthday celebration but we were told at 7.00 pm when ordering our meal that only 4 fillet steaks were available. We were in a party of 18 people and some of us we're disappointed to hear this comment., so early in an evening. The service was extremely slow and when the meals eventually arrived, one had to be returned as it was cold, mine and others were only warm. On visiting the ladies cloakroom during the evening we were somewhat surprised to see the standard of cleaning, there was none... One toilet cubicle the toilet seat was completely off and only balancing on the toilet itself. This standard is not acceptable in this standard of hotel in Chester. Other people in the cloakroom, not in our party, also commented on the standard being so poor. It will be a long time before I recommend this hotel again until i hear standards have improved. The only good side of the evening were the staff, I have no complaints with them except for the extremly slow service from the kitchens.

The Ye Olde Kings Head is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most famous pubs in Chester ,the pub dates from 1622 but the foundations date from the 1200's ,interior is superb, dark wood features abound throughout this pub, a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, wooden booth seating options ,oak beams ,these are beams taken from ships sunk by Admiral Lord Nelson ,pubby decor and furnishings, plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub and all housed in a wonderful looking building, added bonus its also one of Chester's most haunted pubs ,its just a really good pub to unwind in . We were here on a bitterly cold February night, we ordered a pale ale each, these were served in pristine condition, we chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub while we sipped our pale ale's. My pale ale was really good, a crisp, golden, well balanced pale ale, hints of toffee, a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a smooth finish, a classic British pale ale served in a classic British pub. We both really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to Ye Olde Kings Head we had a great time. Ye Olde Kings Head is easy to locate along Lower Bridge Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday, midday till 11pm. Friday & Saturday, midday till midnight. Sunday, midday till 11pm. Well worth checking out if you're in the area or planning a trip to Chester.

We travelled to La Brasserie from Manchester for our Valentine's Dinner. I must say, food and service are OUTSTANDING! Guy who looked after us Sujen was very professional and knowledgeable, he is a true asset. We had cod dish which was out of this world. We want to return very soon.

My mum and I visited here for afternoon tea. All of the staff were so polite and professional. It really made the difference and something that you don’t see so regularly in hospitality this side of the pandemic. All of the food was excellent and it was nice to be offered extra sandwiches too. We chose the gentleman’s option and it’s highly recommended. My only tiny bit of constructive criticism was the room was a bit tired in its decoration. Slightly faded glory.

A delightful and delicious few hours enjoying the marvelous afternoon tea with a dear friend for a belated Christmas treat. Champagne and strawberrys/clotted cream, a sandwich and cake collection that was perfection and more clotted cream, jam and scone collection. Not forgetting the vast tea menu to choose from. Soak up the atmosphere, dedicated staff, a marvelous experience all round. - a recommendation for all to sample. Oh yes , we will return without a doubt.

This is an attractive venue in a lovely old building. Staff were welcoming and accommodating, allowing me to sit overlooking the park, despite it being some way for them to bring my order, and the cafe being almost empty. A very full outline of all options was given when I asked about an item that looked tasty. Sure enough, the one I had my eye on was the most suitable, and indeed delicous, as was the coffee. An excellent experience, which I would recommend...
