Second time I've been here, the first was for dinner and the place was too loud to hear each other talk easily. This time we went for lunch because the menu looked really good and they have plenty of gluten free options. Food was good, we had smash burgers, a little pricey for the size of the burger, but tasted good. The main issue was how long it took to get the bill and then hours long it took to pay. We asked 3 different staff members for the bill before it finally arrived and guess what... 10% discretionary service added. I really do not like being forced to tip in a country that has minimum wage, no other minimum wage jobs get tips so I'm not sure why waiters believe they are special (I've been one, it's not hard). Needless to say I and asked for this to be removed following the poor service and this then required a manager to sort out!

My mum and I visited here for afternoon tea. All of the staff were so polite and professional. It really made the difference and something that you don’t see so regularly in hospitality this side of the pandemic. All of the food was excellent and it was nice to be offered extra sandwiches too. We chose the gentleman’s option and it’s highly recommended. My only tiny bit of constructive criticism was the room was a bit tired in its decoration. Slightly faded glory.

Didn’t enjoy this at all afraid and it was all about the contact at the bar. When I first started working in pubs over 30 year’s ago we were taught to acknowledge people coming in within 7 seconds and 3 seconds at the bar, always say hello, always eye contact and a smile. It is the bar person’s job to know whose turn it is and the bar should be kept spotless at all times. Don’t know who trained the staff here but I think all of this would come as a shock to them. Won’t be coming back.

Met here with friends who are relatively regular customers and see this as a treat. Greeted well at the door and sat quickly, but there was a wait for drinks when ordered, so much the starters had arrived. That was my one gripe. Food, delicious. Simple, flavoursome. I had the potato starter which could of been a side but I'm glad it wasn't, and the cod loin for mains which felt a little bit old fashioned (in a good way!). Strawberry dessert was fantastic also. A must go, and I will revisit.

A delightful and delicious few hours enjoying the marvelous afternoon tea with a dear friend for a belated Christmas treat. Champagne and strawberrys/clotted cream, a sandwich and cake collection that was perfection and more clotted cream, jam and scone collection. Not forgetting the vast tea menu to choose from. Soak up the atmosphere, dedicated staff, a marvelous experience all round. - a recommendation for all to sample. Oh yes , we will return without a doubt.

This is an attractive venue in a lovely old building. Staff were welcoming and accommodating, allowing me to sit overlooking the park, despite it being some way for them to bring my order, and the cafe being almost empty. A very full outline of all options was given when I asked about an item that looked tasty. Sure enough, the one I had my eye on was the most suitable, and indeed delicous, as was the coffee. An excellent experience, which I would recommend...
