Duttons in Cheshire West and Chester

Went to day for drinks 8 of us in the group they prefered that we sat at the bar The group dropped to six. We then wanted to order food They were not busy saying they fid not have a table.. No wonder places are shutting no effort at all to accommodate . Went to Italian round the corner busy bustling and fitted us in

Aliyah our waitress was excellent. Attentive, polite and her attitude added to our enjoyment. Music was a bit loud but we are older generation!

Aliyah was very welcoming and made our experience great. The food was also amazing and I will definitely visit again.

Came here for the first time today with my partner for a lovely Valentine’s meal and it was honestly a great experience the food was amazing and the staff were lovely, the atmosphere was beautiful and it was a very good experience. I will definitely be coming back here again. 100 percent recommend.

We went for dinner Monday 3rd Feb 2025; we stumbled on Dutton's quite by accident. The service was excellent, very friendly, but also gave us the space to enjoy our food which was excellent. I had sea bass and my wife had mixed grill. Pudding was excellent too, and the drinks. Would recommend the cocktails, if that's what you like. Don't find ourselves in Chester much, but we will definitely be going again and recommending - really glad we found it.

It wasn't busy when we visited and the drinks service was slow. Food was ok. Messy chips were undercooked which was a shame as the idea is great and the topping (bbq pulled beef and cheese) was lovely. Overall we feel Dutton's isn't as nice as it used to be.

Excellent service, great two course set menu albeit the mushroom starter lacked mushrooms, other than this overall a lovely dining experience. will be back. All cooked to perfection and the staff went above and beyond.

Great location and interior. However, many issues with the service - scarily the waitress didn't understand what lactose intolerant was, couldn't make one of the cocktails on the menu, advised that one meal was unavailable after ordering, multiple orders of soup arrived that weren't requested, a whole drink dropped over the table/food and two mobile phones.... The managers response to the issues above was appalling.

Visited for Christmas meal with colleagues. The food was superb. Having had Christmas dinner in many venues over many years, hands down the best. I was relieved as I recommended it to my mostly Liverpool based colleagues 😂 Great food, beautiful location and friendly staff! Good value too boot 👍

My sister recommended duttons so I booked and made our selection from the festive menu We arrived and was greeted by a lovely lady and we were so happy with our table then it went down hill.. our order arrived the turkey and fish were tasty.. the sprouts were so hard I couldn’t put my fork into them The roast potatoes were so rubbery I couldn’t put hardly cut the .. I had to scrape out the potato to eat it.. waitress cleared the plates and we requested our desserts straight away (we had travelled from mid wales and needed to get home) We had to ask for them again after half an hour.. she said they were on the way.. we asked could we have tea and coffee.. it arrived with our desserts. .. my chocolate tart was so cold I could hardly get my spoon through.. and no dessert forks either.. My sister has very weak tea so asked for hot water which was brought in a latte glass as they didn’t have anymore teapots.. she almost scalded herself pouring it out.. so our family lunch was just adequate.. we were so disappointed I wanted to speak to you but by that time we were late so had to go

Absolutely dreadful 'festive menu' food. One waitress for the total amount of customers. Four meals pre ordered. Food was awful. Raw items, undercooked items, prawn and avocado starter had 3 cubes of avocado accompanied with a standard sliced piece of bread. No butter. 'Mushroom' fritters- hunt the mushrooms!!! Most of the ingredients in all four meals were unsatisfactory. Manager defended her chef and was unreceptive to feedback. Totally dismissive of our bad experience. All we wanted to do was settle the bill and leave. We paid in full, no concession offered which was definitely unjustified due to the poor food we received. No intention to visit again and would not recommend others visiting for the festive menu. The worst experience of dining out we have had for a very long time. Happy to discuss with a senior member of the management team to explain how bad it was!!!

Such a brilliant little find. It was extremely busy but the gent on the door managed to squeeze us in. We only had drinks and nibbles but will definitely come back.

Came for evening dinner. We waited on arrival a few minutes for the waitress to take our order. However, the food when arrived, was delicious. Served hot and very tasty. Started to fill up nicely just after we arrived. Seems a popular place with a friendly atmosphere. We would highly recommend.

We have always had really good meals here, however we took two friends for lunch yesterday. Our friends wanted the two course Christmas meal, we wanted to order from the ordinary menu. On ordering we were told that we all had to have the christmas deal otherwise our friends could not have it, we found this very odd. We decided we would have the special as our friends really wanted it. The starter was good, however we opted for the Turkey dinner. I had one circle of turkey that was so thin and overdone it did not look appertising at all, I gave this to my husband as it was spot the turkey on his plate, we eventually spotted two tiny pieces of turkey the size of a 50p. We asked for mint sauce and cranberry, this was brought to us on saucers with no spoon to transfer them. The roast potatoes were very overdone, the pig in blanket was cremated. In fact the only good thing about this roast was the gravy. Very disappointed, however our friends meal beef shin looked very good. We did not complain at the time as we did not want to upset our friends.

Absolutely marvellous food, service was swift, friendly, and attentive. A wonderful place to eat.

Me and my girlfriend both agreed that it was the best Sunday roast we have ever had! The sharing roast was just superb! On the pricer side but given it was a special occasion and the food was amazing it was thoroughly worth every penny!

Had our wedding here last week and it was exceptional. The staff went out of their way to make the space beautiful and to make sure we had everything we could need. The atmosphere was so lovely and celebratory. I adored the food and would have loved to have more of it, the only issue was lack of vegan desserts but they more thaan made up for it with the vegan buffet they arranged for us special.

Booked a table and we arrived on time. But we were told to stand and wait at the door for no obvious reason. When seated, took the waitress a while to appear to ask us for drinks. Took longer to appear to order food. Ordered a Sunday sharing platter for two people, £40. It was dreadful. The beef bits you could pick out from the fat were ok. The ham was clearly out of a packet as it was all sliced and shaped exactly the same, obviously wasn’t sliced by hand and it was cold. The chicken, wow. Horrific. Not roast chicken, but a butterfly breast with the fake grill lines on and a horrible fake smoke flavour. I’ve had better in Wetherspoons. The mash was cold and tasteless. The pigs in blankets were again the cheapest of the cheap, terrible quality. The waitress never appeared to ask if the food was ok, or to offer us sauces, salt or pepper. We would have sent the food back but we had places to be and didn’t want to risk sending it back as it took so long to get the food in the first place. Criminally understaffed with incompetent staff.

It's been a long time since I was last here, and the layout, service and food is amazing as it always has been. I came with my family for a 40 birthday meal.

There was 8 people in our group all the food was hot and well prepared and tasty also staff were very nice and the Manchester lager was very nice too...would defo recommend and go again!!

Decent enough restaurant but nothing special, the music is way too loud for a restaurant. My wife had Pate and it was very very bland, my Pork pie starter was ok but again nothing special. Mains were ok my Lamb shank was well over done on the outside making it very chewy, my wife had the Duck which was delicious but the potatoes were very salty. I did mention the starter issue but nothing was done about it by the manager/supervisor.

Was here on Saturday afternoon 5 Oct for 1 drink... then came back Sunday 6th evening for dinner. Table for 4... from North Ireland we are and we wer made so welcome from the start to finish. 2 lovely ladies serving us very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent...we highly recommend seeking out this wee hidden diamond you wont be disappointed.... well done..👍👍👍👍

Had booked a meal for Saturday night after reading good reviews however when we turned up it was very loud couldn't hear ourselves talking, told them we had a reservation but was told we could sit anywhere. We had a drinks menu but not a food menu and no-one around was eating so was a bit concerned and thought about leaving, however a lovely waitress came over and apologised and gave us the menu and can honestly say the food was delicious also the lovely singer had gone(she was good but not for us) there was then a DJ who was actually quite good and not too loud, overall evening turned out to be lovely and our waitress was lovely.

Great service from Ali. Helped my wife sort out a suitable meal for her dairy allergy and even a dessert. Food was excellent.

Wow, what a treasure to find, the food choice is brilliant and tastes amazing, there is something for everyone, the staff are friendly and efficient, nice and relaxed atmosphere.

I came here for a meal while I was in Chester for the weekend, we had the pre-fixed menu and it was lovely, the portions were very good sized and the food was top notch. The only thing that let the restaurant down, they have live music on a Saturday night and this was so loud that we could have a conversation or hear each other speak.

Visited here recently for hubby 60th surprise meal. They went over and beyond to help with the surprise. The food service atmosphere and attention to detail was amazing. Fantastic staff.

I called in for a single drink whilst killing some time in Chester, this was my first visit and I found the staff to be very friendly, and the seating comfortable, i will definitely be back.

Nice place and very nice staff. If you don’t order the steak or hamburger expect a small meal. Too small for that price and also longer waiting time than normal.

My friend and I visited Chester for shopping and found this lovely restaurant to eat. Menu varied with lots of choice. We had lunch but as the quality of food and service were fabulous we booked a table for an evening meal and so glad we did as once again the food was to a great standard so obviously an excellent chef and there was a lovely singer and also a DJ playing great motown/soul music in the evening for entertainment. Will definately go back on my.next visit. Wishing them well as they deserve the business from visitors and locals.

Now one of my favourites in Chester! We went on a quiet Wednesday but the two waiters that were working made us feel very welcomed. The atmosphere even when quiet was great! I can imagine even better when busy. The decor is unreal and is perfect for day night! We loved everything about our 3 course meal the steaks were delicious! We will definitely be returning!

There was 16 of us on a busy Saturday night. The staff were really accommodating as we hadn't booked. Singer in the pub . It was really good and food was very good.

Booked this during a shopping trip. Knew it was a race day so likely to be busy (which it was) so service was a bit slow but the staff were very friendly and kept us informed

We walked in without reservations for lunch and were quite lucky to get a table, but very glad we did. The atmosphere was good but playing some rather modern pop music which wasn't really appropriate for most of the guests. But the food was excellent and very good service, fish (from fish and chips) and steak and ale pie were excellent. certainly would recommend and come back next in Chester

We where looked after on a busy Saturday afternoon with no pre booking with a 5&6 year old.. Colouring activity sheets brought to us and ice cream for free after the meals.. Food was lovely and we where checked on regularly. Thank you.

I have been to Duttons a number of times, the service and food has always been excellent and I highly recommend visiting there.

Honestly the best Sunday roast I gave ever had slow roasted pork belly with roast potatoes Yorkshire puds mash n vedge anazing food would of give 6 stars for food 😁

Hoping to eat brunch early but website indicated it didn’t open until 11am. When we arrived we were told it opened at 10:30am. Limited menu for light dishes so we ordered 6 dishes from the small plates menu. These were disappointing - some dishes ordered were not available but those that were, were covered in chilli. I had chicken strips which were small pieces of hard fried batter - rather like leftover bits in chip shop oil. Inedible. However the waitress discounted our bill to take account. Wouldn’t try there again.

Food quality is descent, the main meal portions are a little on the small side in my humble opinion 🤔 Staff are attentive and friendly 👍👍

Lunch here with friends. Pleasant atmosphere and good range of food options. Waitress service, very prompt and efficient. Only a short wait for our food once we ordered. Meals were tasty, nice and hot, good portions. The only drawback are the toilets which are down some slightly steep stairs.....due to the age of building.

I arranged an 80th birthday meal for my mum, and booked the garden room for 28 people. The staff could not have been more helpful. They arranged the tables as we wished, allowed us to come in early to decorate these tables, looked after our cake and brought it out when we asked. The staff were brilliant, nothing was to much trouble, their service was impeccable, all 28 means were served quickly, together, hot and with a smile. We pre booked our meals two days before and everyone was correct and tasty. I Can't thank everyone enough for making the day perfect.

Our Daughter was getting married on the Saturday and we stayed for two nights in Chester. On Friday night 8 of us had a meal at Duttons . I had booked the table ahead of our visit and the staff could not have done more for us. The food was fantastic and all of us confirmed how good this establishment i. The choices of food were plentiful.

On arriving for a pre dinner drink they had no Pernod, The starters were rather bland and the flat bread with the Chicken Strips was cold and too much of it. Disappointing all round

Great little Parisian style restaurant tucked away down a narrow street near Chester Cathedral. Nice relaxed and chilled atmosphere with good background music whilst enjoying dinner. Good service and food was good. Will definitely return again when next in Chester.

We had an evening meal in Duttons and really enjoyed it. It was a Monday evening so not very busy, the service was great and the food delicious. I had the lamb shank which fell off the bone and everything that came with it was equally as good. The duck spring rolls starter were definitely the stand out for me, very tasty with a lovely plum sauce, I'd have happily had a few more of them as my main! It felt like good value and we would definitely return.

Franchise restaurant because in many cities there is well-seasoned food and a varied menu, from typical to more European dishes, a good variety of beers and wines, and an extensive dessert menu. The price adjusted to the quality and service. It's worth it.

I was with a group of friends visiting Chester. We were out and about in the City looking for lunch but unfamiliar with the best places to eat. We spied The Botanist but it was fully booked. No chances for anything to eat for ages but Duttons was close by and so we landed there. It was fine. It was not packed and noisy which was a relief! We had a light lunch and had a happy time with good friendly efficient service. All good.

A lovely pub for ayy occasion. The music was a great variety and not too loud. The food we received was excellent quality and we enjoyed it very much. We both had the steak and ale pie and it was delicious. Full of tender good quality steak in a delicious full pastry case. The staff were helpful and friendly. We were visiting Chester and looking for somewhere to have a good meal and spend the evening, Duttons was recommended to us by a friendly local resident. We're so glad we went.

After doing some browsing on cheap and easy places for food for me and my other half we scrolled onto Duttons, and my God was it heaven sent. We were greeted by our server Bethan with a gleaming smile and directed to our table. Our food came in record time and it exceeded our expectations and then some - the fish and burger were incredible to say the least. Despite only planning for dinner, we hazarded a dessert and although rich, the brownie was incredible also. Bethan was there for any qualms or concerns from me or my partner and was really accommodating to any of our requirements - my girlfriend being pescatarian. It was an incredible experience topped off with even better service, we will most definitely be coming back in the summer months.
