The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Food was served in good time. The starters werr a good tenpreture but ome of the mains were not very hot.

Stopped for a drink on the way past, rugby was on which was great! Easy to find and have a way in which to put in your registration of your car when you park, so don’t forget to do that!

17 of us rocked up together at 0900 and they handled it with good humour and great food. Good quality and a bargain as well.

We have enjoyed regularly visiting The Wheatsheaf after Chester Zoo for a number of years. Always friendly and great value for money.

we were there for christmas lunch. we arrived they did not have booking for us even though we had been sent a confirmation email we were the told to sit at a table with dirty glasses and dishes on it. Then they came and told us what they had left that we could have. The table was never dressed with christmas crackers or anything only a piece of wrapping papper sellotaped to it. The knives and forks were handed to us when the leftovers were brought to us. In our party 2 were vegatarion and my 8 year old grandson who is autistic and will only eat beige food. his came swimming in gravy and vegetarian meals were just a plate of veg. This cost £300 and i would advise anyone to go mcdonalds rather than Wheatsheaf. I am sorry I have had to write this but they said they would look into this but the last time i heard from was at the begining of February despite me emailling twice since then. I would never recommed The Wheatsheaf in Heath Rd Chester to anyone

By distance this is our local really but we haven't been in quite a while. We went early p.m for a change of scenery and tea out. We had booked a table and were seated pretty quickly, it seemed that most of the tables were reserved so probably a good job that we had booked. It is a bit haphazard at the bar, having to wait in a queue that has no discernable start or finish. We set up a tab to make it easier when ordering extra food/drinks. The service was good, staff were very pleasant and the food and drink times were standard for a local bar. My husbands meal was okay, but the steak was a bit grissly (always seems to be the case which is why i don't order steak from there). I did my usual and ordered some small items in place of a larger plate. I was pleasantly surprised. They were just what it said on the tin. The side of mac 'n' cheese was lovely comfort food. The side salad was a bit of a let down being mainly lettuce with one piece of cucumber and a couple of chunks of tomato and a pinch of grated carrot and onion and the hunters nachos were very nice, being something I hadn't tried before. The cocktail list was basic but fine for a quick tea, no french martinis or fancy items that need anything more than a quick shake. I will visit again but still staying away from the steaks.

Staff were lovely, very friendly. Food was ok, but there wasn't much of a variety for all dietary requirements. Pub itself desperately needed a renovation. Had a tired feel, locks and toilet seats missing in bathroom, which also looked like it hadn't been cleaned thoroughly for a while.

Booked for twelve people on Sat 10th of Feb 2024. It was quite busy being a Sat, credit to all the staff who were brilliant,our food came out really quickly and it was delicious! Would highly recommend.

Quick and friendly service. We had the halloumi fajitas, which were good and a decent size portion. Trouble is, we always have to have these when we take my mother here, as there is precious little else for vegetarians. Mac and cheese hardly sets the pulse racing and a "Dopsu non-meat burger" may satisfy vegans but isn't appropriate for vegetarians. What about a proper veggie burger or a spicy bean burger, rather than some fake meat?

Poor service, poor food, and to cap, parking fine because zero signage that they charge for parking there. Won’t be back and recommend to avoid. Whatever signs and portals they claim are well hidden - clearly intended to be a money making scam

The sizzling steaks are what my wife and I go for - always tasty, hot and great value for money. We have a bottle of Rioja to wash it down. Staff are always pleasant, welcoming and helpful. The pub/restaurant is kept clean and warm

We haven't been to the wheatsheaf for a while but decided to go after getting a 40%voucher, we were very impressed,the staff were very friendly and welcoming ,the food menu choice was excellent,didn't have to wait long although it was busy ,when our meal arrived it was hot ,steak perfectly cooked and well presented will not hesitate to go again I heard they were under staffed but it didn't show the service was excellent .

We had two steaks and they were very poor. Half of the rump was inedible. Overcooked and actually black on the bottom from the skillet. I can’t for the life of me understand why you would serve a medium rare steak on a blazing hot bit of cast iron? It’s obviously going to carry on cooking!

Had a lovely time in a nice pub. Food is good and good value too. We had a burger and salmon and chicken sizzler plates, very tasty but on the dry side, could do with some sauce to go with the meals. Will definitely go back again.

Everything was spot on, food was cooked perfectly, 4 empty plates and would happily recommend to anyone looking for some excellent grub at great prices!

The chicken tikka was very nice. The only downside was they peppered the steak without letting us know that they peppered the steak when we ordered it. The steak was way too peppery unfortunately.

What started as a mistaken visit due to there being a pub of the same name nearby, we were more than pleasantly surprised with our little mix up. We were given a very warm welcome on arrival and the food smelled amazing, after realising our mistake we were welcomed to stay! It's a beautiful place, great decor, very roomy, lovely staff and spotlessly clean. With a bill of £36 for 3 adult main meals, 1 pint and 1 Pepsi, we weren't expecting the portions that came but they were extremely generous, food was hot and delicious and all brought out together. We can't wait to return, even planning a breakfast visit for next week.

Service was good, was disappointed with my meal though, chose the new Belly Pork and Ribs option as I do like belly pork, what came though was very flat and to me very processed, never had belly pork like it, it’s a shame as I was so looking forward to it….. Ribs were nice but very small, overall wasn’t worth the price …. Next time I’ll make sure I order something else.

We had a groupon sizzler voucher so we decided to use it at the Wheatsheaf Inn.We were pretty surprised that the restaurant was so busy for a Thursday night.We were soon sitted and ordered drinks and food at the bar,within 30 minutes food was served we had a starter of hunters chicken nachos and Southern fried chicken and for mains Surf and turf and chicken fajitas,all the food was ever so tasty but would have to say if you were paying £5.85 for your southern fried chicken starter you would not be happy,the nachos were a very good portion and pretty filling and the mains were good portion size.Will be back in the future.

First time at the pub great food

We came for my grandsons 11th birthday tea we waited for over an hour for the food, the fish and chips were very dry I imagine we’re left under the hot lamp while waiting for other food my granson had steak and he loved it while we were waiting patiently as I we didn’t want to spoil it for him we bought plenty of drinks and the manager was overheard talking about another party outside using the app as they were to lazy to walk to the bar I ordered a couple of Eaton mess which took 45 minutes and there was was no Eaton in the mess just cream and frozen fruit, our table was not cleared at all and we put all the glasses and plates on the table next to us as it was empty, we did not complain as we tried to not upset grandson as he is very sensitive. I was very disappointed in the service and food, I appreciate that it gets busy and have no problem waiting for half hour ish but I felt this was unacceptable and the staff and manager didn’t seem to care, hopefully this was a one off and generally do a good service.

This is a popular pub with lots of noise and bustle. The service was good but my steak was not cooked as well as I would have liked. It arrived tough and fairly rare and got tougher. However, this was addressed and it was refunded at their suggestion, so well done!

I had pre-booked a table, which was ready for our arrival, even though we had arrived slightly early. Good choice of food, and the drinks choice was what I would expect from a Sizzling pub, although I might have liked a little extra choice in the ale/stout department. The prices of the food and drinks were good. The staff were friendly, and ensured that everything was OK, especially once it had been ordered and before it was made, which I liked to ensure no errors. Everything went well, the food was nice and we were left alone during our visit, which suits me fine.
