The Little Owl in Cheshire West and Chester

Called today ordered food at the bar then sat and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited... while numerous others who had arrived after us got their food..and waited And when it finally arrived it was average at best..not worth the nearly hour long wait.

Quick service, hot tasty steak and ale pie . VERY pleasant harassed staff (not enough of them to prevent them being harassed) but very pleasant nonetheless. ££.

We had a lovely meal with friends that we'd seen last at a wake for my husband on the 4th November at the Little Owl. I just wanted to add that on that occasion all staff were lovely and very understanding and helpful. We will definitely come again!! Thank you

A friendly welcome on arrival and a lovely table by the window with the sun coming through. The pub was bustling with a friendly atmosphere. Beautiful decor, friendly staff, excellent service, good food, great prices! what more can you ask for?.

I have been to the little owl in the past and the food is lovely. However, I ordered a tuna mayo baguette with chips and when It arrived the portions were very small and the bread was soggy. I only had 5 chips on my plate. For £8 that was really frustrating. It looked like it was just slapped on. My friends I went with meals were also cold too. Very disappointed. However I rated three stars because we was welcomed by a lovely staff member and the seating area was perfect as my friend had a new born baby so she can put the pram on the side without disturbing any other customers. Its a great place for. Evening meals but the lunchtime and sandwiches menu menu should be cheaper.

Waited awhile to be given a table and there was no one there to greet us, so was unsure if to just sit down or wait to be seated. Could see there was only 2 members of staff trying g to cover the floor and the bar, so we waited. Staff were very friendly and tended to us professionally. Food was OK, was not presented particularly well. Pudding was very tasty. Had to ask for napkins. Have been to pub before and had good and not so good experiences. Mixed opinions about the place really. I would not say I would never go again. It just wouldn't be my first choice. We only went yesterday as it is close to where we live and we didn't have much time.

Little Owl not only exceeded our expectations in terms of service and quality but also offered excellent value for money, making it a memorable experience.

This was the first food outing place we came to with my husband 2 years ago when we migrated yo England and have rounded many other places with same services but little Owl got our hearts. Yesterday was my birthday , my family was accompanied along by my sister and her husband, they have recently moved here to England. We all loved the food. We hope we will take it down our generations to always meet up at Littlle owl. Its worth every cost there.

Despite there being a party of over 30 booked in (another group not mine) - we still got served in a timely fashion. Food was good, service on the night (a gentleman) was spot on

I booked the venue for a wake . Rang up to confirm numbers for the catering a week before Spoke to a lovely fella who went through the menu . We booked for 30 people . The room was all set out as expected on the day . The food was more than enough for our guests . We had the silver buffet which was a selection of hot and cold food . Our guests commented on how nice the food was . Our allocation was from 4pm to 7pm which gave us enough time to spend with everyone. So thank you very much

Really happy with on line booking. The menu is really good ,lots of different choices for all ages .gluton free could be a wider choice!. But really happy with our visit.

Food was great, came out hot and delicious. Christmas festive burger was amazing - wish it was on the menu all year round. Kids tomato pasta could be tastier but my child still ate it. Play area made it easy to keep our very active child entertained while the grown-ups ate and talked. Definitely recommend and will probably be coming back.

We were on our way back from visiting family & fancied a bite to eat so we stopped off here. It was very easy to find & parking was no issue. We were seated within seconds of walking through the door. Our server has a lovely manner & was very helpful. I had a mix grill which was cooked to perfection, my husband had a gammon & cleared his plate. The place was very nice & peaceful. We will definitely be regulars when visiting family in future. 10/10 for us. We would recommend booking in advance which was also very easy to do. Especially this time of year as they can get busy pretty quickly.

Breakfast with Santa was brilliant, great characters, entertainment and family time. If I had to say a negative it would the breakfast was on the warm side not hot but understand as lots being done

I come to the Little Owl quite often with an old work colleague. We have known each other 50 years now and really enjoy each others company. We have found the Little Owl the ideal place to meet. We find the staff very friendly and we look forward to our meals too. I was last in with another work mate who I haven’t known as long but she enjoys the food and the friendly atmosphere. She particularly enjoyed the curry with cauliflower in it. My favourite is the steak pie at the moment, the hunters chicken is another.

Booked a festive menu for a family get together. The main difficulty we had was that the pre-order system for 2 course/starter/main option would only let you select main and dessert. So had to bring in the pre-order to the restaurant instead. That apart, the restaurant did provide a nice meal with no other issues on the day and overall good value. Thank you.

Arrived 20 mins early for booked table for 4. Accommodated straight away. Easy to order at bar and very friendly. Good food at good prices served quickly then allowed ample time after meal to stay and chat with quests

Very poor, only 1 chef so been sat here for an hour, still no food. Specials don't go thru the till properly, so we have been charged £7 more than the cost of the specials on the menu, Sent back the food as its cold when it eventually arrived. WiFi, you need to set date of birth, but you have to scroll monthly to find the date, going back 54 years by scrolling, so didn't bother, this should be a self data entry field. Overall, very poor service, price and experience, we will not be returning.

The service was very slow toeards what it usually was. When asked for Bill it took ages so paid at bar .

We took my grandson and my nephew for the Halloween party, they had such a great night, the staff were great with the kids and made it so much fun for them but being busy organising the party didn't affect the running of usual duties! The bar service was quick and friendly and the food was spot on too, the kids didn't eat til really late as they were having too much fun to come and sit down! They both emptied their plates after the party and got straight back to having fun with some friends they'd made, the quiz was a nice touch too, will definitely be back!

Four stars all round because everything Little Owl has to offer is good, but not great. One person behind the bar was a little soured faced, one was smiley and anxious to please but didn't listen as carefully as she should. Our granddaughter had to settle for a desert that wasn't exactly what she ordered. The play equipment outside is of a scale to suit teenagers rather than the younger children who are more drawn to it. The menu is typical pub fare. Middling prices. Reasonable portions. I can recommend the steak and ale pie.

Food was amazing food hot and tasty. We had the specials menu the special steak was amazing so juicy cooked to perfection and the mushroom Stilton burger OMG was amazing. Staff super friendly checked everything was all good with our food and seemed like nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely come back again 10/10

Had a very good meal this evening. The staff even went above and beyond as I know that Lucy went to a local shop to purchase some bananas to enable me to have the dessert I ordered, when they realised they had run out. Well done Lucy and Sophie and thank you.

Went for a mini break in Chester & this pub was a short walk from the hotel. Place was very quiet but it was fairly late on a Sunday night. Straight away the bar staff were chatty & friendly - had a drink & ordered 2 steaks off the specials menu. Food arrived quick and steaks were mouthwatering - cooked precisely to our order & liking. Had a good laugh with the manager before we left and explained about the coincidence between the pub name / my partners love of anything ‘owl’ related along with an ongoing joke from the tv series ‘phone shop’. He gave my partner a little ‘owl’ gift which was awesome - has had pride of place next to the tv and is currently in Jamaica with her (whilst I am home working may I add). Thank you guys for the hospitality, the awesome steaks, the enjoyable experience & for the special gift (which has pushed me down the importance list). Hopefully will come back soon!

DO NOT EAT HERE-terrible place to eat found an ant in my food, cutlery wasn't clean, staff were rude, when food came back out it was cold, after this I was told I cpuld only get a partial refund as I had 1 bite out of it absolutely awful place management needs changing asap

been here in the past and the food was good. today had to send food back. Put us off our main meal, and why are they seving the food in tin dishes, it actually looked like prison food

The service wasn't the best, the Burger 🍔 I had was Average and the chips 🍟 was over cooked - the Chips 🍟 was like the Chippies you got from Marks and Spencer's so overall 3 out of 5!!

I ordered from QR code on the table. The process was very efficient & worked well. Despite the pub being very empty it was approaching 15 minutes before our 2 Colas arrived which was a bit disappointing. The food arrived a few minutes later which was good. Our burgers were satisfactory without hitting any heights. The buns were a little dry. The McDonald's style fries were very crunchy and more like crisps than fries. They were poor. The salt sellar was blocked and we had to ask for vinegar which was not included in our condiments tray. Having been to several Marstons pubs recently and having been very pleased with the food, value and service this was a let down. We'll eat at the Wirral One Hundred next time and avoid coming back here for sure.

A very warm welcome by the staff. Cleanliness was 100%. Fantastic food at reasonable prices. Atmosphere was relaxing and no rush attitude was welcomed. Our day was made wxtra special by Phil the bar tender who served us. He was very friendly and polite at all times. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for our visit ❤️. Had the voucher through the post so thought we would take advantage of it ,very busy due to the weather and a funeral gathering but staff did their best under the circumstances but was not happy at all when my eldest daughter sent her youngest grandson for some crisps and came back 20 minutes later with nothing saying people kept pushing in ,good job I didn't witness it plus I would have expected the bar staff to notice a 9 year old waiting patiently in a queue while grown men just barged in,shame on those involved. Had our food once they had all left myself fish and chips my better half scampi and chips. Have to say I,ve had better ,fish decent but batter nowhere near crisp enough, tartare sauce way too oily and chips quite dry,scampi was plentiful but the rest was the same as my meal, was quite disappointing if being honest as I was quite looking forward to the meal.

Food took forever to come and when it did I wasn't happy it came. I had fish and chips the fish was so badly overcooked it was rock hard and the chips were overcooked and the mushy peas were dry won't be coming back here again

There were just 2 staff on front of house for bar and waiting on and despite they looked a little short staffed they were friendly, attentive, welcoming and worked fast to ensure everyone in the pub was being served promptly. We went as we'd seen the Tuesday offer for burger and a drink, when we got there this was not on the menus or advertised on the tables so we asked a staff member who brought over the information. Everywhere was clean and well kept. The food arrived fast and it was yummy! Definitely recommend! There is also a beer garden and a little play area for families with children which looked nice.

My wife and I were celebrating her birthday and visited the little owl on arrival we had a member of the barstaff just told us to sit where we wanted,we ordered a rib and wing starter to share which was just thrown on our table by the waitress in a metal dish, no plates for each person, we had ordered a mega mixed grill for myself and as we were told they had no chicken my wife had lasagna, the steak on the mixed grill was raw inside and my wife noticed a human hair on her chipswhich put her off immediately, we complained to the staff but we got a sort of non caring attitude, I did put a review on Google which they replied to but no apologies given I wouldn't recommend this restaurant and will not go back again,my wife has 30+ years as a catering manager
