The large Sunday roast (beef) that I had was the best I’ve had at the Little Owl for years. Previous meals (only visit when down in Chester) have not been great. The portion sizes (in the past) were not great, but yesterday was beyond expectations. I was expecting a crispy Yorkshire pudding (as usual) but bother were soft and edible.! :-) The Chicken and Bacon house salad that my wife had, had just the right balance of salad and meat.

Myself and my son frequent here often, staff are always attentive especially jamie the manager and the added benefit that it is dog friendly which is such a bonus, so I would highly recommend coming here if you like a peaceful atmosphere, good food and exceptional service

We didn't have a booking, we got told that it was fully booked all night, we could clearly see that there were free tables. So we got drinks and sat outside. I then went on to the booking site just to check that it was fully booked. I could see that there were many free slots so I booked a table and waited 20 minutes for our table to be ready, clearly we were lied to.

Second time here, The first time we enjoyed it, but this time we have been let down by one of the staff and we won't be going back again!!

We stopped for lunch with our granddaughter and had a nice lunch, the food was served hot and was reasonably priced. We will visit again soon.

Pub grub of average quality. Veg Thai curry was menues as coming with crackers but they were missing. Mentioned to waitress - no apology but said “Did you want them?” and when we said we did, turned and disappeared into kitchen, returning moments later saying, “We haven’t got any.” Again, no apology. When (who we presumed) the manager cleared our plates and asked if everything was alright, we mentioned it again. He said they were having problems with supply but it was still on the menu as they couldn’t change it. It might be a good idea to brief staff at point of order …. just a customer service thing, you know. Maybe source an alternative?? It’s like people just don’t care any more. The waitress was what I can only receive as surly; a smile wouldn’t have gone amiss. We were looking for a utility meal and it served its purpose. A transport cafe with alcohol is the closest description.

We held a 21 st party there the buffet was very good, the bar staff were great, and over all we had a fabulous time. Highly recommend the little Owl.

Popped into The Little Owl for lunch and it did not disappoint. We ordered a mixture of starters and sandwiches which were served together as we had asked which was great and they were delicious. Nothing was to much trouble for James and his team we will definitely return 🙌

Last minute decision to have some lunch before taking our daughter back to her student digs. Booked the table online 20 minutes before just in case you were busy. Greeted at the door straight away and taken to our table. Ordered at the bar and mentioned we had a 30% discount code which was accepted without any fuss. All 5 main meals came out promptly at the same time and there were no complaints about the food. A nice, quiet atmosphere just right for a Sunday lunch and the staff were very attentive. Thankyou

Food is middle of the road, it's not bad but it isn't setting the world on fire. Staff are friendly and always look after our family gatherings.

Spent new years eve in the owl The food was good and not expense, served by excellent staff .They were very polite and helpfull .The bar was warm and not to cramped .Great evening .

Friendly, kind staff but I had to wait for a good while at the bar for a children's menu, and then again a good while to order as no one was on the bar, then they had to swap tils, then the til was lagging a few minutes behind and then again a big wait for food to arrive too. - it wasn't very busy they just didn't have enough staff on I don't think. It got very stressful as my children were hungry and pretty restless in the end. The chicken in the tikka was not nice at all but the chips and dessert were lovely. We were placed on a large table next to the door to outside access as we were a part of a bigger party.. the door was basically permanently open (late December when we visited) so the baby and myself were quite cold and kept getting whiffs of cigarette smoke which I didn't expect or appreciate. Also when I asked about dishes being peanut safe for my daughter I was told I'd have to look online and search through their website menu to see what it says on there but it wasn't guaranteed anyway?..The fact you can't guarantee a dish is safe regardless of what it says on the menu is worrying but also.. How is it fair I'm required to have Internet access to ensure my child is safe eating at your establishment? Not everyone has a smart phone or Internet access. This isn't inclusive and is an unfortunate flaw. All in all it was just a rubbish trip, but the potential is there. Staff were nice, most of the food was lovely.. Purely circumstantial I think which was unfortunate. Wouldn't rule out visiting again to give it another go.

Fabulous food staff very welcoming they was fully booked but was able to shuffle things around and accommodate us. Good full menu lots to choose from and is a dog friendly pub. Good choices for kids and it's very clean. The nacho cheese sauce can be added to any meal and it is wonderful

Fantastic Christmas Day! From beginning to the end the service was outstanding. Food came out and tasted amazing. We had a young blonde girl looking after us and she was an absolute superstar. We had an amazing day so thank you to all the team on.

We arrived and were shown to our table and were reminded, politely, that we had the table until 15.00. The courses were served quickly, too quickly to be honest and we felt rushed. We were also reminded twice more that we had the table until 15.00. The food was OK, Roasties tasted dry like they had been kept warm. Nothing special I'm afraid just like a normal Sunday dinner. It won't stop us from returning and eating at The little owl again but I would not book Christmas day again due to being rushed and continually reminded that the table was needed for other customers at 15.00.

We went for Christmas dinner and couldn’t have been more satisfied, i was delightful in all aspects, food service and atmosphere. We will definitely be back next year.

I had a burger which was nice but the mother in law had scampi which was mainly batter. Also the kids meal (fish fingers and potato waffles) was full of oil and not very appetising. The bar staff were very friendly and attentive.

Lovely meal, great, relaxed atmosphere and attentive service from the bar and wait staff. Jonny (our waiter) was lovely and we even overheard the table next to us commenting that he was a lovely young man :) Plenty of dogs in the pub too which made us very happy!

Visited for lunch after a nearby hospital visit. The service as good as was the food. It was quite reasonably priced too Worth a visit.

Truly awful food. We had the steak Thursday special. Tough and rare. We asked for medium. I cannot ever recall having a worse steak. We had two children. One had 3 courses from kids menu with a coke - £16. We told waitress about the poor steak and to be fair she asked if we wanted to see manager but we were time constrained and late. Totally overpriced basic food. Chef ? Should be embarrassed.

Popped in here for a bite to eat with the family. Booking a table was easy. My daughter has allergies and the staff were superb with catering to them and ensuring that food was clearly bought out for her. Service at the bar was spot on. Everyone was friendly.

I ordered online from my table and the drink came within minutes. I ordered a gammon steak for main and a vegan apple crumble for dessert and it was lovely. I will definitely be coming here again. Good value for money. Lovely service too, very friendly

Warm welcome good food and service.

The Service and Staff were Excellent, Efficient and Polite My Cheeseburger was lovely, however, my girlfriend's Chicken pie was a disaster. Very little chicken and no mushroom sauce.. in fact very little filling to enjoy. The pie crust was far too thick and tough. We will come back, but not for the Pies

Nice, bright, big open space with all tables organised in a way that that there’s plenty of room all around so it’s great for family with children and prams. Personnel always very friendly and helpful, attentive and never forgot anything we asked for. Food is a good classic selection, can’t really fault it though it’s not personally my cup of tea.

Came as a party, by the time we received our food the other table with us where given there deserts. The staff didn’t have a clue on what was going on with where food was aswell as how long it would be. The burger and chips was dry aswell as cold. Would not recommend as well as £7 for a CIDER.

The Sunday roast is exceptional, with perfectly cooked meats and crispy Yorkshire puddings. The service is friendly and attentive. I highly recommend The Little Owl for a memorable meal.

We waited 15 minutes for a drink that never came, staff members just standing around twiddling their thumbs.

Very disappointed in the quality of the food as well as the portion size. The waiter got orders wrong twice and didn't think it was an issue. The chocolate fudge cake dessert forgot the fudge and the slice of cake was so thin it was breaking up. A handful of frozen chips with what was more like a back rasher than a Gammon Steak, the chef forgot the steak part as it was so thin and looked like two rashers on top of each other. The starter of popcorn chicken and goujons was so processed that it tasted and looked like popcorn chicken and goujons from Aldi and I mean the very cheap ones. The waiter was useless and had no concern about the food or getting the wrong orders it seems like that's just him. First time there with family but we'd have had more food and better quality in McDonald's then what we received which was very disappointing based on prior reviews and the menu online. A proper chef who knows the difference between a rasher and Gammon steak would be a good start as well as a waiter who didn't look like a lost puppy when you'd ask him something.

Booked because had a promotional voucher 40% off mains, easy to use at the ordering point. Staff all polite, efficient and friendly. Food hot, tasty and brought out in a timely manner, server came back to check everything was okay. Restaurant looked clean and tidy and felt looked after, didn't use the facilities. Will return especially with promotional vouchers.

Food was great, and in a nice setting. Only thing that let it down was the bar tender was a bit slow and didn't seem very awake. I was stood waiting to order a drink for almost 10 minutes, so I gave up in the end and sat back down. We also gave them a birthday candle to put on a dessert, and they completely forgot about it, so a bit disappointing really.

We popped in a month ago it was very very busy with a big funeral going on. The staff were brilliant despite being busy so we thought I would go back and booked a table for Sunday lunch , brought our little dog with us who had a sausage, staff brilliant once again and the food was lovely. We will be back.

The food here was delicious with excellent service. Also a good evening playing pool. Would definitely recommend!

Four of us went and had a lovely meal and our mums shared a lovely bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal and it was excellent value for money, They catered for our individual needs as some were on diets so swamped chips for jacket potatoes and I am diabetic so was reducing my carbs so had a lovely salad alongside my mixed grill ( which btw is a wonderful grill and have it every time I go). One guest ordered a Thai vegetarian curry but none available so they gave her another choice and she had tikka curry. They even offered to refund the cost of the curry which was exceptional I thought. The service was excellent all round and staff very friendly and polite. The little owl is my go to place if I want a meal that is excellent value for money and always consistent. Thank you. I will be back- next week 😋

We booked a table for 11 for sisters 40th birthday. Family age range 6months to 65 years. We placed orders at the bar separately but kitchen made sure all meals were served together. Bar staff and manager friendly and opened another till to speed up orders. Staff bringing meals were polite and professional and came round to check everyone had what they ordered, any sauces and how meal was. We weren't the quietest table but was not made to feel like we were in the way at all. Great enclosed outdoor play area for children too. Definitely visit again soon as smaller family.

Great service, quick to seat us and really helpful with childs highchair. My wife has dairy allergy so was explained the menu and checked with the chef to confirm all was ok. Great experience and will be returning again soon.

Second time here and the food and service is excellent. Tonight we had a sirlion- medium- cooked to perfection. The jam sponge pudding and rocky road brownie are to die for. From starters to desserts service was quick and efficient. Credit to Rob in the kitchen for cooking an exceptionally good steak and the whole team for great service from being seated to leaving. We will definitely back.
