Very friendly and helpful staff who were happy to make us what we wanted. We also noted that the cafe has a Changing Places Toilet too. Brilliant that it has this inclusive facility....

This little cafe is lovely. We popped in after arriving in Chester for a couple of nights for my little boys first birthday and we needed to grab some lunch before our boat trip. The prices were really reasonable, we got lunch for three of us including drinks, a slice of gorgeous cheesecake and a chocolate bar all for around £17! The food was perfect and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. We will definitely visit again next time we come to Chester.

A queue at the Yellow Pig so ventured into town on a Sunday morning around 10. Ended up at the Little Roodee car park, charge £6 every day btw. Spotted this café at the far end and good reviews on TA. Quite busy but few eating. Cheap brek at £6.50; plum tomatoes, beans, egg and two sausages (the spongy type) and toast. Friendly people working really hard but just two staff before 11am and it took a while. Good for a standby

Staff were friendly and attentive, we travelled with a couple who brought their dog along, we had our breakfast and the dog was given some treats too by the lovely staff. Breakfast was good, food prep area spotless as was the restaurant itself. The whole place was spotlessly clean, staff kept to good hygiene standards and all with a welcoming smile. Would recommend.

Lovely little place. Very clean, warm and welcoming. Just what we needed for refreshments half way round our cycle ride. Menu was good and very reasonably priced. The food looked lovely and friends were very pleased with their toasted sandwiches. One friend had a cheesecake which was delicious. Only downside was they didn’t have my choice of tea cake so I had a scone with jam. The cakes on display looked homemade and lovely so I expected similar from the scone. But, I was disappointed. The scone was tiny, from a packet and not very nice. The coffee was lovely. I will go back but I won’t be having a scone!

Hadn’t intended to eat here today as I didn’t think dogs were allowed inside. We had just called for a cheeky toilet stop but the lady who’s beaming smile I saw behind the doors enticed us in! Such lovely staff, very good breakfast and treats for our dogs with the poshest dog water bowl I’ve ever seen! We’ve never been before but would definitely go again, such a warm, friendly place to be, thank you all 😊

The Little Roodee Cafe was perfect for our needs after we'd been hiking for several miles in occasionally heavy rain. It was warm, filled with light, not too busy by then and had clean toilets with baby-changing facilities if needed. Interesting too was the accessible shower. The smallish menu offered breakfast snacks, soup, toasties, paninis and freshly-made sandwiches all of which were very reasonably priced. Hot and cold drinks were also available (tea, coffee, decaff, herb teas etc). We chose the tuna & cheese melt paninis with salad garnish which were soon brought over and tasted great. The cafe is in a largish car park which caters for coach parties as well as cars and is just beneath Chester Castle. It also appears to be a training centre for disadvantaged adults to learn food handling and service skills. It is definitely worth a visit and if we're that way again we will do so.

We visited here today intending to grab a coffee before our Roman walk. Unfortunately my husband bumped his nose on the car boot lid and it bled profusely. We went into the cafe to sort him out(we had our 2 young grandsons with us). The lady in the cafe was fantastic, she administered first aid, helped my husband when he fainted and still kept a cheerful smile for m6 grandchildren. The food the boys had was excellent value for money and we are all eternally grateful to the lady for helping us and for the other assistant who kept the cafe running. Well done ladies and thank you again.

Four us popped in here for a spot of lunch during a stroll around Chester, and couldn't believe that at midday on a Saturday in the middle of Summer that they had little to offer - virtually no cakes and certainly no soup. We persevered and ordered paninis and tea. The good part if the lunch was the tea, which tasted good quality, but the paninis, although they were well presented, were hard and not nice at all (two of us left half of them). The toilets were clean, but both the males toilet seats were broken off and lying at the side. We certainly wouldn't come back.

After walking around the Chester Walls we were in need of a ‘comfort break’. Stopped here and was pleasantly surprised. Seemed an odd location in a car park but would be ideal for those wanting a snack on arrival or before their return journey. The sightseeing bus also makes. Stop here. The toilet facilities were clean and staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a cold drink sitting outside in the sunshine. Did not try any food, but items all looked fresh.

Visita realmente horrible.

You have to be careful not to take into account any reviews written over a month ago as the Cafe is now under new Management and has transformed itself. The Staff are quite superb, very customer focused and friendly. I just had a cheese and tomato sandwich which came with crisps ( best I have ever tasted ) and salad. The sandwich was freshly made to order and I can honestly say it was one of the best I have ever tasted , the refreshing cup of tea was wonderful too. I am a tour guide in Chester and will certainly be recommending this place to tourists who will get fabulous value for money which sadly does not apply to some other Cafes.

Visited Sunday with friends enjoyed tea and scones that's where the positive side of this reviews ends ! As we were about to leave an elderly lady came past the cafe and fell quite badly off her bike. Myself, friends and a couple of other customers from the cafe went to help her the owner just stood outside completely uninterested as to what had happened and talking to other customers. As we helped the lady up we realised she had a very nasty cut to her leg, my partner went over to the owner to ask for help and was completely ignored ! Instead she went into the cafe for a first aid kit only to be told by a disgruntled woman they don't have one ! Now for a start this is illegal as Health and Safety Regulations state that at minimum any workplace should provide adequate and appropriate first aid provisions. Instead she was 'reluctantly' given a piece of blue paper towel to compress the wound. In the end we had to dial 999 as we were unable to stop the bleeding and when the paramedics arrived they had to take her to hospital to have the wound stitched. I have met some rude people in my life but the owner of this cafe has to be one of the rudest and ignorant people I have come across and would advise to steer clear of this cafe and go elsewhere to one of the more 'friendly' establishments in this beautiful city.

I visited this cafe yesterday with my teenage children, to grab a quick coffee after some business in town, before an onward journey. As I am Scottish the owner thought it ok to make a comment about me "coming down to spend my money whilst I could - saying that he didn't mind it and would accept it" - I just laughed it off and grabbed my coffee and the children's drinks and went to sit in the sun. ( I only then realised he had been talking about Scottish money - ironic really as I paid with B of E notes and I have lived/worked in Chester for the past 20 years?!)He then followed us outside and started to question me on the independence vote - I tried to put him off, I don't discuss politics as a rule, personal opinions are best left for the ballot box IMO. He went on to become very confrontational - telling me that 'you' cannot dictate to us English what we should do - 'you' cannot have the pound - 'you' will not be allowed into the euro, in fact face it 'you' are all just really members if a third world country and should stay there. I was horrified! I think I was actually racially abused? I love Chester, my son was born there and I have never encountered such a bigoted racially prejudiced outburst in all my time there. Do NOT visit this cafe, I actually cried upon leaving there, how dare this man treat his customers like this. I will be reporting it to the police, the council and all other relevant organisations. Please please be very careful if you are anything other than what he seems acceptable - the best of it is, I actually don't think he is a cestrian - sounded a bit more Birkenhead! What a shame in a visitor centre and cultural hub we still have people like this in our service facing roles.

Visited today and was surprised by the unfriendly, ungrateful and quite frankly rude staff. The cafe is based in the car park, and whilst I appreciate their purpose is not to provide change, when buying a can of coke I was presented with 'you'll have to have a note, I'm not giving out coins'. I had not made any reference to needing coins at this point - I was simply buying a can of coke. The member of staff then proceeded to tell a colleague 'I've lost count of how many times I've had to say that today'.Rather than being rude and annoyed at customers who need to get change for the car park, i'd advise that they appreciate and value this source of income. I question how many people would use the cafe if it wasn't for this fact. The negative attitude of the staff would stop me from ever using them again and I'm sure I'm not the only one. They have an opportunity to capitalise on passing trade but are instead wasting their chance by seeing everyone as an annoying inconvenience.

Birthday treat for afternoon tea. Put us in a room on our own so I asked to be moved to sit with everyone else dining...which they did. Sandwiches brought out on saucer sized plate then another plate with cakes and scones. I asked why not served on 3 tier cake stand as she gave some poor excuse as to cakes might melt so they don't use them hower other diners had them! They forgot to bring the strawberries and cream and champagne we ordered. Waitress was moody and unhelpful and we had to go into bar for a cocktail as they were now shutting!! Huge amount of money for poor food and service. Never been back!
