Great location with outdoor seating and a super friendly staff. Emily and the team were super accommodating for our group of 6. The food was excellent too! Reuben bagel, steak sandwich and coronation chicken were amazing!

*This review is written by me, Hayley, using my husband’s account* I recently stayed at The Coach House in Chester, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Chester, making it easy to explore the city. My room was cozy, clean, and beautifully decorated, giving it a welcoming and homely feel. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always making sure I had everything we needed. As a coeliac, there were great gluten-free options available. The food was delicious, and I felt well taken care of. Overall, The Coach House is a fantastic place to stay, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Chester—especially those with dietary needs!

Always a friendly atmosphere in this pub from both staff and fellow pub goers. We visit here once a year when we are on holiday and must say the decor has improved a great deal over our last few trips.

We loved the location of the Coach House, the room was lovely and the bed so comfy ,we ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant staff and service were excellent will definitely return thank you gor a great stay x

Clean efficient polite but unremarkable pub slap bang in the centre of the city. Nice ale, unimaginative menu but a safe bet on a Monday evening.

Been here for a few meals, dinner, breakfast and Sunday lunch, always excellent. Today was absolutely terrible, dregs of the chips, soggy battered fish, one of the worst meals I have had for sometime, waste of money.

We have been here several times and every time we have not been disappointed. Great atmosphere with nice staff. The food is lovely too! We will definitely be back on our next visit to Chester.

This Inn is superbly placed for just walking into Chester. Parking is just round the corner in a multi story.... £20 for a night and a short walk to the Inn. Room was lovely and a good size with lovely en suite. Large fan provided which was needed the weekend we stayed. Staff were very attentive. Breakfast was extra but well worth it, set in a gorgeous, air-conditioned dinning room. We would definitely recommend as you can walk to all the attractions

I don't think we could have gotten anywhere more central for such a good price! The rooms were well done, very comfy bed, and the breakfast was excellent! If we ever stay in chester again this will be my first place to check for a room!

Really good place to stay. centrally located staff really friendly and helpful rooms are comfortable and clean with hairdryer TV safe iron and ironing board. Will be returning here on our next trip to Chester

Lovely Gastropub with excellent service!

The Coach House is in a perfect central location in Chester, just opposite the cathedral. The room we stayed in was genuinely huge and, most importantly, very clean. I can understand some people commenting about noise, from about 9pm until 11pm on a Saturday night you could hear people outside enjoying their evening, but tbh is that surprising staying in a city centre above a pub? After around 11pm the noise from nearby establishments seemed to stop and peace resumed. We had a great night's sleep as the bed was so comfy and I would stay again without hesitation. The breakfast was delicious, so good we forgot to take a photo as we just dived straight in! Most importantly all the staff we met were lovely, and seemed to actually want to start a conversation with you, which absolutely made our weekend. Thank you for a fantastic stay in Chester!

Did not stay here but ate in the restaurant which was very good. Good and service excellent food, location was next to Town Hall with car parking nearby. Staff were attentive and there was a cosy vibe and the restaurant interior decor added to the enjoyment of the evening

This place is unreal. We was welcomed in by Emily. She was amazing. Sat us down and got us our cocktails She was attending to everyone never mind us. All three customers loved her. The one place was booming with atmosphere and the staff was amazing. Great place to come

Use to love eating here. Food use to be top notch. Visited for Mothers Day with family. Really disappointed, waited ages for our food (not busy at all when we were ther)and when It came it was grim. Potatoes were hard, 1 piece of meat few green beans, couple of cut up carrots and a bit of swede with no real flavour. Not a patch on what I remember. The only saving grace was it was 2 for £20. I'd of been really miffed playing full price for it.

Came here for dinner as staying locally. Got to say surpassed expectations. Food was on a two for twenty deal. Shepherds pie for my fiancé and burger for me. Food was well cooked, very tasty and then to wash it down a bit one get one cocktail. Who doesn't like a deal. I had the coachman signature cocktail. Very much based on a disarrano sour and so nice. Staff warm and friendly. Service fast. Definitely a recommend from me.

Went to Chester for a day out with my family and visited The Coach House Inn for lunch. It was a fantastic experience with the most amazing service staff, excellent food and a great atmosphere. The price is excellent and I can not fault the restaurant. I will be calling in there every time I go to Chester. Just wanted to say a big thank you for making our day a great day out.

Just had 2 nights at this hotel location is perfect right in middle of town centre the staff are first class carnt do enough for you the food is absolutely lovely and very good prices would recommend this place will definitely be going back.

Wi-Fi was difficult to access and the central heating intermittently noisy in room The breakfast although cheap was limited in choice.

Called in for lunch while visiting Chester, we had the fish finger sandwich which comes with salad and crisps, very filling, lovely decor and friendly staff, our food was very nice and the meals being served to others looked lovely. Highly recommended

We were on a day trip to Chester and after walking the wall in the pouring rain decided to have lunch at this conveniently located pub. It was warm and welcoming. 3 of us enjoyed the beef brisket baguette and it was a large serving and very tasty. One of us enjoyed the cauliflower soup. They made our 3 year old granddaughter feel welcome with crayons and colouring in. She enjoyed her kids meal.

An outstanding pub (I've not stayed in the hotel rooms) where lovely staff do a wonderful job of serving amazing food and drinks. I've only recently moved to Chester but it's already become one of my favourite places to go.

I think I've given an amazing review before for the coach house but I had to review again after our visit today. This place has to be the cosiest and best place to enjoy a drink and some lovely food in Chester. It's family run which makes it even better. The food we had today was absolutely gorgeous, the service, the atmosphere was just perfect. Even my mum who is the fussiest vegetarian in the world gave her beetroot burger 5 stars! Keep up the great work guys we will definitely be back again and again!

I booked this as a present for my parents for my Mum's 80th birthday. The night before they were due to go, a tree fell on the roof of their house in the storm. The hotel were so accommodating and without any hesitation they said we could re-book. They didn't have to do this as.id already paid in full. My parents went the week after and had a lovely stay and meal in the res. Ryan was particularly helpful.

Came here for food before going to the theatre. As always the food was very nice, typical pub grub style. The staff could definitely have been more attentive but in their defence it was busy. Would definitely return

I booked here for my GF's birthday back in early August 2022. We were both thoroughly impressed by the food & service. The location is great also. I'd highly recommended this place to anyone looking for very good food and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

we were really looking forward to Christmas meal, The soup was disappointing bland and the bread rolls were tasteless and inedible, the turkey dinner was appalling the meat was under cooked, the pigs in blankets weren't cooked, the sprouts were disgusting, the potatoes weren't cooked, the gravy was fine, the Christmas pudding was very nice,

We appreciated the friendly welcome, and table service. Lunch was tasty, and reasonable value for the city centre. They found us a nice table with a view out towards Abbey Square, just made lunch that bit better. We decided not to order one of their main meals. Where weights were shown, they were too large for lunch. But there was a good range of lighter options, in particular we enjoyed the wild mushrooms. I had a very nice glass of red wine, It was a very cold day, and I found the room just warm enough, perhaps if we’d been further from the door it might have been warmer. Toilets were excellent and on the same level as the bar. Although they were busy we didn’t feel rushed, but had time to enjoy the food and good service. We’ll be back.

Have been coming to this pub for many years and is now the venue for our meet ups and lunch, always a good clean pint, prices are City Centre, food is usually quite good, and there appears to be a constant stream of people using the accommodation which is highly rated. The team, Alissia and her staff, are always friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble, a good friendly pub.

Stayed here for two nights, the staff very welcoming and friendly from check in to check out. Perfect location for wander around Chester town, walk out the door and straight into the Market Room was clean and comfortable. We only ate breakfast here, but so good. Certainly recommend and would stay here again.

Found the Coach House while looking for a pub dinner.They were just finishing food service when we arrived, but they let us sit down and order. Our evening meal with two friends was excellent. The welcome was very friendly and our drinks order was taken quickly and served without delay. There was a good choice on the menu and my wife's Gluten Free diet did not cause any problem. Our food was well presented and tasty and I can certainly recommend the gammon. Booked an evening reservation for meal, easy online reservation, friendly service and excellent food and drink

Great food but our last three visits have been marred by running out of basic produce. Sunday roasts- no Yorkshire pudding despite being in a city centre surrounded by supermarkets that all sell ingredients to make Yorkshire pudding! We arrived last Sunday afternoon to be told no roast beef! We went elsewhere and won’t be rushing back.

Had dinner for two here sat outside at the end of September. Food was very good, fairly priced and the staff were lovely. Service was good too. Worth a visit.

They have erected a marquis at the front of the pub, which is a great place to dine and drink, in the heart of town.

Had evening meal here while on short break. It was fine. Pub food but decent. Shared a bottle of wine - not cheap but fine for the area we thought. Service was efficient. Toilets clean and well maintained.We would eat here again if back in Chester.

I like this pub and have always had a good meal whenever I’ve visited. However on this occasion the meal wasn’t as good as I usually expect.I ordered Blackened Salmon and it was served as ordinary poached salmon that hadn’t been blackened at all. The waiter took it back to the kitchen and it came straight out with some spice sprinkled on the top which tasted like curry powder. I couldn’t eat it so left the salmon.The waiter didn’t say anything when he cleared the table, so we just paid and left. Hopefully this was just a bad night and we will be back to try the food again!

I visited with my daughter and two grandsons 8 had the ploughmans which was tasteless way too much cheese which could have lasted a week. The bread although it said freshly baked it was tasteless too. The whole meal was tasteless.The service was appalling it was very quiet but it took 15 mins for one of the waitresses to even a knowledge us. A family came in and got served before us. It took 20 minutes until we were asked if we were ready to order, a further, 20 minutes to get the bill. And a further 15 minutes to pay it.Two young girls drifting about with grins on their faces not doing much and we felt like we were invisible. Will never return.

Only had breakfast at the Coach House but it was very good and plentiful. Can recommend the Eggs Benedict and the full English both very very good

Came here for a post lockdown catch up with my bestie and had the BEST time!!! We were served by Cole who is a credit to your team and couldn’t do enough for us! Will be returning purely because of her! Oh and the food was unreal (especially the halloumi fries wow yes please)

Went here for Sunday lunch absolutely beautiful we both had beef cooked to perfection, vegetables also cooked perfect, massive Yorkshire pudding and a big jug of gravy,best Sunday roast we have ever tasted,very friendly staff couldn't fault a thing, definitely be returning

Visited in August for an evening meal during a short trip in Chester. The food was delicious and really well prepared. There excellent range of gluten free options on the menu, and the staff were really helpful and knowledgeable, making our meal even more enjoyable.

All the usual pub grub, but with some more unusual gems. The minted lamb and feta salad is particularly highly recommended. The service is friendly and efficient and the prices are reasonable.

Incluso cambiando la cantidad de habitaciones que necesitábamos el día anterior. El té y café gratis durante nuestra estancia fue una ventaja. Las habitaciones estaban impecables y el desayuno era encantador. Sin duda volveremos y recomendaría este hotel.Gracias a todo el personal y al servicio de limpieza.

En la nueva normalidad, el personal puede hacer o deshacer la experiencia. Y estos chicos fueron geniales. El director nos recibió con entusiasmo y nos invitó a pasar. Nos sentimos como en casa. My son has just bought a house in Chester and we booked 3 days up here visiting him and his girlfriend, we sat in a pub and a really nice fella recommended this restaurant as his friend owns it .we immediately tried to book in a group of 11 & we was given a table at 1st & we were all really looking forward to it , but whilst on the phone they did a u turn on us & told us bluntly that they could not accommodate us after offering us a table at 7.30pm , then 8pm & finally 7.45pm & then nothing ‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️The woman on the phone was unbelievably disrespectful and rude which really surprised us ,I would never visit this restaurant now or recommend it to anyone There staff need to learn how to talk to customers properly when taking bookings DISGRACEFUL

Often visit the Coach House for an afternoon drink or two. The staff are all very friendly and this creates a real friendly atmosphere. The choice of beers, wines and gins is great, as is the quality.On this occasion we decided to sample the menu. The service was first class. The chicken wings as a starter were excellent, I particularly liked the hot & spicy option. I enjoyed the fish, chips and mushy peas, crisp batter and well cooked fish. My partner enjoyed a nice piece of gammon with a fried egg.

Spent one night on our way home from Wales. Lovely room, large so room to relax. Very clean and all you needed provided. Book for a meal downstairs in the evening. Food was restaurant quality, beautifully presented and exceptional value. 50% off all good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Certainly recommend.

A great pub/restaurant. Relaxed atmosphere, good menu choice, four of us ate and we were all more than happy with our meals. The food was all freshly, home cooked, presented well and tasted beautiful. Nice rose wine too! Happy staff.

Ordered Haddock and chips. I requested mushy peas but was given garden peas. When I mentioned this the reply was "better luck next time.'. I can honestly say there womt be a next time. No apology and disgraceful reply.

The Coach House es uno de nuestros pubs favoritos en Chester, tiene un gran ambiente y sirve una buena pinta limpia y excelentes vinos y licores. Siempre es un placer llamar y hablar con el amable personal y disfrutar de su comida y bebida. Hay asientos externos adecuados para los fumadores entre nosotros.

Probamos el plato de pescado hace unos dos años y decidimos volver por el mismo y no me decepcionó. Gran pinta de sidra también! Mirando a nuestro alrededor en busca de otros alimentos que sin duda volveremos y 'tal vez' intentemos algo diferente (aunque no puedo prometer, ya que estamos enganchados al pescado.
