The best restaurants serving British food in North West

Ordered on their website. Paid with Apple Pay. Website said 40 minutes for delivery. Food never arrived, according to just eat the restaurant was closed. The website didn’t give me an option to cancel, to speak to anyone or to request a refund. Phone number isn’t a real number. Absolutely do not order from here!

The managers Troy, Kendal, and staff are attentive, well-dressed and well-groomed They are responsive to their customer needs, provide good customer service that is both courteous, prompt and quick, checking on their customers often; they make the 'dining experience' more personal, and are always willing to go that 'extra mile'. The food is of a high quality and has a good flavour, aroma, appearance, and texture. The Eagle and Child is a 'must' visit, you will not be disappointed! Ho can you improve on perfection..................YOU CANNOT!!!

Disappointed with our visit today - location lovely, service was okay but a couple of the meals were disappointing. Initially there was a problem with the table we had booked. Food arrived in good time, but 2 of the meals were not as we had expected. Firstly, the prawn sandwich was lacking in prawns and generally poor quality; secondly, the lamb hotpot was disappointing on several fronts - the hotpot was served in a small, deep, ramekin type dish that you would expect for a starter. The dish was only partially filled, with approximately 5 small cubes of lamb in gravy and 2 thin slices of potato on top. Accompanying this was a small slice of bread and a few ‘barely warm’ carrots and beans. A poor meal for the price! This was reported to the serving staff and we were told it would be passed onto the chef but we heard no more.

Being going to the Jolly Crofters for years, very comfortable place and great staff. In the summer, sitting outside is a special treat. Definitely recommend. Roger.

Food itself okay, but the staff are terrible !!! We were sat quite quickly, but left waiting - and scolded at for asking where we order - just told to 'go up and eat', on the assumption that we both wanted the carvery. What we did eat was good though, no complaints there. We'd ordered a drink which we took to the table and finished, we then waited to see if someone might ask if we wanted another - literally no-one came back, not to ask if we wanted to order a drink or desert, literally nothing. We upped and went to the bar and said we needed to pay for dinner - on cue waitress heads across, face of thunder almost happy to have stopped us. We gladly paid for dinner, got another beer and left. Now, I don't know the etiquette of the Toby Carvery and if we should have been gone to the bar to get a drink to bring back to the restaurant..... food okay, staff may have been busy or had an off night.

Went for lunch today with for lunch today with family who I have not seen for a long time, ordered the hunters chicken it was disgusting refused to pay won't be going back the chef had a bad attitude

On arrival, after booking a table online, we entered the bar and there was nobody behind it and nobody to advise where we could sit. It took me some time to find someone who said we could sit anywhere. We found a table and ordered at the bar after choosing from the menu. We then sat to await arrival but became cold and had to move tables twice as the heating seemed very low (others were wearing padded jackets while eating so was a general problem). When it arrived the food was excellent - steaks cooked perfectly and very tasty. The starter of chicken wings was also excellent. Overall the food was delicious and the value for money also very good. It is a shame that the low temperature and lack of someone to greet on arrival let the food down and will certainly put others off.

Passing through Ormskirk at lunchtime and saw Toby Carvery, pulled in and found the Fiveways. We both had the Carvery which was an excellent choice of Lamb, Turkey, Gammon or Beef. We both had Turkey and Beef the accompanying vegetables were excellent and even though stood on a hot plate were not dried up. The place is spotlessly clean the toilets smelt fresh and clean. One of the best Cavey's we have had., and the price was very reasonable @£15.48 for two

Dissapointed, the beans were mainly bean juice and tiny portions. Expensive.

The food here is average, its OK, but not special, hence the prices. Most meals offer an alcoholic drink or a soft drink, which is good. Unfortunately , there are too many FRUIT FLIES flying about the place, many nestling behind the warmth of the self service coffee, cappuccino and chocolate machines. This place offers warmth in its building, a down to earth place for down to earth, no nonsense people, a place to chat and banter.the bins that serve the drinks machines for emptying used tea bags sugar wrappers, need a good clean. Other than that, it's an OK place.

Food was not up to much my friend had mixed grill all undercooked taken home for the dog did mention it but did not get much response ,I had tuna mayo sandwich could taste vinegar in it not much Tuna at all had a bad tummy ever since got home think the Tuna must have been off giving that pub a miss from now on

This problem is happening more often. We have observed around 4pm certain members of the McDonald's team, are closing off seating next to Costa, even though the car park is full and the roads outside are jammed packed with cars queuing to leave the services. We have observed some mamagers becoming annoyed by this action, as it impact on to their area. Plus the toilets really need to address the smell. This is happening ever since they stopped flushing.

Dreadful! Ordered ahead as wanted gluten free option. Staff very unfriendly and had shocking attitudes! Staff incorrectly labelled my food - despite my gluten intolerance. Spent entire weekend violently throwing up as a result of their lack lustre approach. Avoid at all costs!!
