Jolly Crofters in Bolton

Went for Sunday lunch. Poor atmosphere and enthusiasm when being served. Dinner was a bang average roast nor good or bad

We decided that our daughter and her husband needed an evening away from the children and as we had just received a discount meal voucher we decided that it would be at the Jolly Crofters. We booked for 6pm and it was pretty busy when we walked in to a lovely friendly greeting. We were shown our table immediately and our drinks order was taken at that time. We announced that we had a discount voucher and it was noted. We ordered our food from the bar and were told that it would be about 20 minutes. We sat back down to catch up with all the latest gossip and the next thing we knew was our found arriving more or less as stated. It was all excellent and as expected. Roll on the next time.

Returned to Jolly Crofters after a few years absence. Been twice for lunch now this year with my wife after a morning's walking on the local moors. Service prompt and friendly and portions generous and tasty. Wife had baked potato with prawns in rose marie sauce with salad, and I had Hunters Chicken baguette with chips. Good value for money I thought. Only criticism I would make was that there was only one choice of cask ale, but as it was Wainwright's it was no hardship. Another plus was that it wasn't full of kids and loud music.

A very tasty range of vegetarian and non- vegetarian food . The food was fresh, well-presented and the staff friendly and professional. An excellent Saturday evening !

This was the first place we ever took our doggie to for a drink and they were so welcoming and friendly with us, really nice experience, will definitely be back!

To celebrate our sons first birthday, we wanted to have a family meal with grandparents and close relatives, in total there were 12 of us. We'd booked the Jolly Crofters and were given a spacious area which was perfect for our needs. The food was absolutely amazing, generous portions and cooked to perfection whilst really reasonably priced. The management were excellent and met our every need. Great hospitality and will certainly be going back for a good meal!

Perfect place by location , wonderful staff ,quick service very comfortable. Great food . It was my birthday and was given a bunch of flowers by the barmaid that realy made my day and was part of my best birthday ever thankyou.soo much.

Had a lovely meal earlier, lovely and hot, plenty to eat and a lot of choice on the menu. we didn't have to wait long and very reasonably priced. We will be going back, I had chicken and mushroom pie and my partner had sausage and mash which he enjoyed very much too.

We received a very friendly welcome and all enjoyed our delicious meals. Excellent service, will certainly be returning.

Shocking experience. Toilets and pub absolutely filthy. Decided not to eat there as the pub was dirty. Bar Manager very grumpy and no customer service skills at all. I wouldn’t recommend, try Blundell Arms just up the road

A party of four of us had been hiking in Rivington & we decided to call for lunch as it was handy for the bus route. The staff were very friendly & pulled a decent pint of cask beer. The menu is pub food and had a choice of several starters with mains generally burgers or steaks. We didn’t manage deserts but the ones going past our table looked fine. We all went for burgers as we were pretty hungry after our hike, and we weren’t disappointed. All were huge & packed and came with crispy fries and a delicious dip.

My wife and I popped in for a tea time meal and although it was a quiet night we were surprised that there were several people in, Chris had fish and chips and I had the lasagne, we both really enjoyed our meals, the fish was huge and the lasagne was excellent, even the chips were the best I've had from any pub meal..we sat talking for over an hour in a very relaxed atmosphere so 10 put of 10 for the Jolly Crofters. Visited lunchtime Fish & chips from the lighter bites menu was good. The rest of our experience not so good. No ice for drinks because the ice machine was broken. Wonder why someone couldn’t have nipped out before service & bought a couple of bags of ice from the supermarket! My partner had the cowboy burger which was over cooked, so he just ate the chips. The decor is dark & dingy, it’s all a bit tired looking. Whilst the lady behind the bar was pleasant, the man serving didn’t engage with us at all & merely plonked our cutlery on the table. No one came to enquire if the meal was ok. Have called in here previously as it’s local to us but not likely to go back because of the poor service, dingy atmosphere & hit & miss food

We have been here 3 times in December each time it’s been great. I came for breakfast with Santa which was great value and the kids loved it! The breakfast was your average full English very nice! I came in on a Sunday pre Christmas with one side of my family there were 16 of us and we pre ordered, service was great and the food was 10/10. Great value for money! We also visited post Christmas with 20 people, again we pre ordered, it was super straight forward food tasty and everyone was happy. As we went as a group it was almost like private dining as we had a section of the restaurant to ourself. We will deffo be using this restaurant for all our family gatherings as the food is great, service 10/10 and the value for money is fab Thanks to the staff at jolly crofters!!

We had dinner at the Jolly Crofters pub one evening in early December. The interior was festively decorated for the holidays. The staff were polite and able to accommodate our party's special needs, including two guide dogs. The pub welcomes dogs and provides water bowls and treats. We ordered a range of dishes; the food was well-prepared and the portions were generous. The landlord was friendly when we spoke. Overall, it was a good dining experience at Jolly Crofters. The atmosphere was cosy and welcoming. We would recommend it to people looking for good pub food in a relaxed setting.

Works Christmas lunch, booking for 22. Food was served quickly and efficiently. It was delicious and everyone said how much they had enjoyed it. Nothing was too much trouble and with the pub beautifully decorated for Christmas, a very jolly time was had by all.

Came as a group of 22 for our Christmas meal from work!! Gorgeous food and excellent service would definatley recommend here

Food was terrible, 4 people three of whom dissatisfied with their meal. Sirloin streak ordered medium rare was totally burnt on outside and rock hard and stringy. Will definitely not be retu.

Brilliant night at a brilliant pub. Could not be more accommodating for our group of friends. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff helped and all were brilliant and very friendly. Would def recommend this to anyone of my family or friends. Will be back in the very near future as there is more excellent food I need to try.

It's some years since I've been here and I stopped going because it went downhill . This evening I met up with some old friends for our annual Christmas reunion and what a difference it was. What was a bit of a tatty pub looked really nice and it looked really festive. The meal was great. Tasty. We'll presented and plenty of it. What really completed the evening was the staff. Nothing was too much trouble and the service was first class. Will certainly put this pub back on my list

Very busy evening and great atmosphere. We started coming here every week because The Tavern had closed down. The food is great but the drinks are a bit pricey. The only negative is that certain management are unbelievably rude and unprofessional, so much so, we will not be frequenting this establishment again and neither will our friends and family!

Had a wonderful time here with my husband and friends. Food was excellent and the the service was exemplary. I had the delicious Cowboy burger, others had the Roast Beef, which they said was superb. Looking forward to returning soon.

we organised a small gathering for a 90th birthday party, we had an area just to ourselves and had a buffet organised by the chef, everything was perfect staff very helpful the whole evening was a great success. We eat here regularly never had a bad experience highly recommended,

We had a Sunday roast dinner which was excellent with a very large portion of beef and one of us had fish, chips and mushy peas--tartare sauce included which also was excellent. What we would like to emphasise was the excellent front of house waitress, Fran. What a lovely girl. So pleasant and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble/ Well done Fran. We ordered meals here that we have had in many places over the years (as well as recently), that can act as a comparison. There was nothing wrong with what we had but they were a bit lacklustre / lacking in any kind of wow factor - just average pub grub. Just a tip to what we assume was the senior person in charge, please don't bother asking how it was if you're just going to brush any comments diners have to one side and come up with a 'load of twaddle' in response. Conclusion - it was above average but not brilliant and we wouldn't go rushing back for the food. The building itself was nice, the barmaid was very pleasant, the car park was decent enough and the hot and cold drinks were good too.

I was with a large group and we all said our food was excellent. Good value, great service and good quality food. Even though there were a lot of us,20+, they got the food out in good time.

Amazing service every time we come - lovely staff and such a great place to come for after work drinks. Dog friendly too - they even have a doggy food menu !!

Service was very quick ordered fish and chips but the fish was soaking in oil and placed on top of the chips so the whole meal was swimming in oil. Also too many dogs in the restaurant and I'm a dog lover myself and was aware that its a dog friendly pub but I won't be going back.

Excellent Sunday lunch ... and enough to fill us! Friendly and kind staff. Even had a gluten-free Yorkshire pud.

Give it a try is what we were told by friends who loved the Jolly Crofters. We were not disappointed, atmosphere, food, drink all good, and to welcome dogs in the way they do is a big bonus around this area, surprisingly few pubs welcome dogs in the way Jolly Crofters do. Lots of space inside and outside we will be back

Had a great visit here recently - we booked for a family members birthday, they even allowed us to bring a cake and decorate the table beforehand Old Mout Cider on draught is absolutely amazing. Experience was so great we've decided to go back for Christmas Day

Stopped off at the Jolly Crofters after a Sunday trip, had the friendliest service! The team fussed our dogs and made us feel so welcome. The Sunday Roast was DELICIOUS! Hot, Quick and fantastic value for Monday. We'll definitely pop back in when we are next in the area!

Myself and my work friends visited here yesterday to have some drinks and food to mark end of term. Staff, food and pub was great. Very helpful and chatty staff, lovely food and an all round great place to get together.

We visited here today for a get together with work colleagues for end of term and a retirement. We didn't eat so we can't comment on that. All I can say is that the bar staff didn't make us feel very welcome and didn't really have much customer service. The gentleman behind the didn't smile once. We won't be visiting again for our end of term outing

Held my Mums wake here and Alison and the team were fabulous. From booking to the day Alison was friendly, helpful and very kind. The food was excellent and perfect for what we wanted. They even opened early for us and gave us an area to be with each other. Fantastic service, staff and environment

We went for lunch and it was not over busy. So that suited us, we called in on our way up to the Middlebrook to do some shopping. We both had salads and the prawn salad was gorgeous. Normally you get a few prawns when I have it in other places but they definitely didn’t hold back. Loved every bit and my husband enjoyed his salad also which was the chicken and bacon. Next time will probably take the dog and go for a walk after, lovely area for walking.
