Ewe Restaurant And Bar in Bolton

Waited an hour and a half for "Bottomless pancakes" for them to only bring out 2 pancakes. After speaking to the manager we were "prioritised" and continued to wait a further 30 minutes all the while 2 tables near us had sat down, had starters and a main then left.

It's the third time we have been in the last few months , and everything was first class .

Thanks to all the staff it was my partner 60th birthday meal we where well look after 😀 and the food was great

Went for my birthday meal, food was absolutely shocking and sent back. No applogies from management, no attempt to make anything right. Over priced plates that need a fortune on sides to make it a meal.

First visit for me and was very impressed , excellent service and couldn't fault the food , had a good choice of beers as well , will definitely be returning

Called in here a couple of weeks ago for lunch. We had not booked and it was not busy. It is quite nice inside, but it was very cold outside. It was not too warm inside either, and there were several electric heaters plugged in near where we had been say, even though there was air on and they could have had it on heating mode. We chose the light lunch options. They were ok but not really as expected. Might be different at night with a full restaurant and background heat on. I think it is a bit overpriced compared to other restaurants but that is my opinion. Plenty of parking spaces though, so no problem there.

Some of the nicest food I’ve ever had. And to have this locally is amazing! Definitely a special occasion type of place however worth every penny! Service, food and atmosphere I cannot fault in the slightest. A table of 4 and everybody was 100% happy and impressed with their food. Well done Ewe

The venue and food were perfect, beautifully decorated and the food was of a very high standard. My only gripe was receiving a service charge on my bill of 10%, of which no prior notice is given. I usually decide my tip based on the service given, I certainly don't like being forced into paying it, how very American! For this reason, we wouldn't eat here again which is a shame.

First visit and definitely won’t be the last. Food and service were excellent. A good selection of wines, and nice to enjoy a cocktail in the bar afterwards.Already looking forward to our next visit

4.5star. Lovely restaurant, the food was fantastic especially dessert, everybody enjoyed their meal. I'd personally like a bigger list of red wines. Only downside was a service charge on the bill, I'd rather not be told what my tip will be but overall very good!

Food was good and the service was attentive. The desserts were particularly good. Loud music with other diners trying to talk over the music made it especially loud, so it was hard to talk at the table. This rather spoilt what would otherwise have been a 5 star review.

A great lunch/dinner spot just off the M61. We met friends on our way down South and the food was lovely (particularly the bread and butter pudding, and Fish & Chips!). It was gorgeously decorated for Christmas and the staff were very welcoming. The Roast Dinner is well recommended by my friends’ too!

Food tonight was amazing really good staff friendly and the place is spotless just to dear got a shock when the bill came way over priced won't be visiting again at those prices way to expensive.

Went over last wednesday for lunch with my friend, the soup was delicious and plentyfull.we had fish and chips just right size fish and chips.which we couldnt get through as filled from the soup.the staff were really nice.and the restataunt was spotless we had the lunch menu for set price.will be back.

Lovely interior , food not that great for the price, been to better places which aren’t as nice inside but food so much better/quality. Should concentrate more on food than interior .

Gorgeous place, real feel of elegance about it! Food was of a very high standard and presentation was superb! Service was a little slow but to be honest it was really nice to not feel rushed! Felt very welcome here and will defo be returning! Was here for 3 hours (3 course meal and a cocktail to finish). HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

If you want to be wowed this is the place. You will be made welcome and served by staff who are attentive to your needs. Food Amazing... you just gotta go.

We had a perfect experience at Ewe's for our 'Ladies that lunch' Christmas lunch. The food was delicious. We had Christmas dinner and desserts. We also sampled the mocktails.... delicious. Service, friendly, efficient and quick.

I had Fish and Chips here on a Friday. The Fish was luscious, beautifully cooked, flaky, thick creamy flesh with a beautiful batter. Fabulous. The service was pleasant and attentive. No issues. Loos were clean and nice handwash liquids provided. Good parking and plenty of space. Cosy and warm interior, very nicely decorated for Christmas.

Special birthday meal booked for my Mother based on the excellent reviews online. Table booked for 8:30 but we were informed to arrive at 8:15 which we did. Upon arrival we checked in at reception with our name; we were told our table wasn't quite ready but to sit in the bar and wait (not an uncommon practice). First issue arose when the bar did not have either a draft nor a bottle cider made from apples but settled on two pints of Budweiser and a bottle of non-alcoholic beer (priced at over £16 which seems a bit steep). Sat at a table in plain sight of reception and the wait staff, half past comes and goes, we then became aware of the fact people who arrived after us were being seated whilst we still waited. The person who booked our table checked his phone (for the time) at this point and was greeted with missed calls (unable to be heard due to the blaring music in the bar) from the restaurant despite us booking in and sitting there. When we flagged a member of staff down, they stated they must have forgotten to actually mark us off as being there and they'd prepare a table for us now. At this point it was nearly 9pm (8:55pm to be more precise) so we left. I will say the staff member was very apologetic but not sure this standard of service is acceptable as a whole

Went last night to a wreath making class, the guys from the flower shop and the wreath making itself was amazing but the venue let it down. We were served sparkling perry, tasted like the cheapest you could get, when we had paid for Prosecco, the nibble board was between 2 and the serving size was really small, plus the quality was very poor too. Not what I’d have expected from Ewe.

The only thing I could say if it's a cold day don't sit near the entrance door. X food service decor everything was great

Lovely food but had to wait well over half an hour for our food. Prices very expensive £18.50 for roast beef dinner, very nice but nothing special.

What an amazing restaurant. The ambience created by the tranquil relaxed atmosphere of the decor and layout blends the restaurant into a real treat. The staff present themselves with a high standard of service, well manoured and helpful. The whole place is spotless and clean. The layout is spacious and easily accessible for and wheelchair users. The food is amazing and the choice on the menu is really good. Something for everyone. Children are well caterd for. The drinks menu has a huge offering from amazing cocktails, wines, and beers. Our children enjoyed the Non alcohol Moktails We highly recommend a visit by far one of the best restaurant In the area.

Just had a lovely meal at Ewe Restaurant. You are hit immediately by the lovely decor and relaxed atmosphere helped by the live music which was the perfect accompaniment. Loud enough so you could hear and appreciate but not too loud so that you cant hold a conversation. The food was absolutely delicious with the spaghetti Ariabatta having real taste and flavour provided by the chilli’s and the Pork Belly Sunday Dinner outstanding. The was was also delicious. The restaurant was busy and had a good atmosphere and I would describe the service as outstanding. All in all a brilliant first visit and will have no hesitation in coming back or recommending to anyone else. A real find.

My daughter and I visited for the first time this week. The manager was delightful. The food was really good. Unfortunately we had a really rude waiter. He was dismissive of my daughter wanting medium steak. He didn't give her chance to rethink or change her order. He then brought our bill without us asking for it. Presumably he wanted us gone. I have only heard good things about Ewe and the atmosphere was relaxed. This is a stylish place to eat. I will definitely return but will hope the waiter is having a better day.

I went here last Friday quite pricey and the drinks are really expensive I personally don't think it's worth the money, also pretty small portions

Came for a birthday meal last night, was waiting for a table to be available for 15 minutes which wasn’t a issue but then got sat next too a very loud table who pretty much spoiled the whole night. The food in its self was bland, truffle arancini was brunt, no truffle no salt pretty tasteless apart from the bitterness. Lamb rack …. What a disappointment lamb was over cooked, new potatoes was still hard and no sauce, for the herb crumb that was no existence. It looks a fantastic site but it’s very much all bark and no bite. Shame because the service was very good.

Over priced, service charge for taking the drinks to a table 20 ft away for my misses and her friends.

Absolutely amazing food. The pork belly bites... omg... could have eaten an entire bowl of them!!! Our waiter was great! (I don't know his name but we discussed living in Australia) he was attentive and so nice.

Made an enquiry to book in for Christmas day over 3 weeks ago by email at their request and got completely ignored, got a response today saying they are now fully booked. Was booked in for afternoon tea on Saturday but will definitely be cancelling

Surprised how little lamb on the menu there is

Really good restaurant with rather a small menu but everything appears to be done really well. The food is really reasonably priced for what it is and can recommend the Sunday roast beef which was one of the best I've ever had. The main thing that lets the place down is the service. There was plenty of staff, but they just weren't attentive enough.

Rare for us to eat so close to home but the experience was good enough for us to plan to return! Easy to book a table for early evening on a Saturday, it was pretty busy when we arrived. Varied menu choices mean there’s something for just about everyone. Service was efficient but little interaction with customers other than order taking. Food was good and everyone enjoyed there dishes. The only down side was that conversation was difficult due to the loud music.

Service upon arrival was asap, no waiting about a server was straight to us, was really good with allergens when notified them of a peanut allergy, good communication with the kitchen to the waiters, the drinks where dot on, the food took a perfect amount of time to come out to us to set the atmosphere, beautifully design for the interior and exterior, tables had the perfect amount of distance between them so it didn’t seem cramped despite being several tables full around us, staff where amazing and polite, food was amazing, and all beautifully presented, would 100% go again

Enjoyed a birthday meal here - 3 courses and a bottle of wine. Food was perfect, staff really attentive and friendly and lovely ambience in the restaurant. My only slight reservation was the music being played - im not a fan of dance music whilst eating but that probably is my issue alone!

Went for my birthday. Got seated in a bistro type area and the noise was horrendous. We were hoping for a really nice treat. WE LEFT.

The smallest sea bass I've ever had . In a party of four we were all slightly diappointed and £7/pint it was an expensive meal out.

Went for Sunday lunch for birthday celebrations. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the food was delicious! Highly recommended the lamb sharer and the beef Wellington!

Overpriced mediocre food. Be aware of the typo on the wine list. There is a £10 bottle of Oyster Bay listed at £75. We got a refund some 3 days later but would have gone unnoticed had we not checked the bill. Was told it was a typo but strangely was the same price On the POS Nice atmosphere but would rather have food served without someone with a piercing up their nostril. The puddings were lovely but the pasta was bland and the sea bass with wild rise was ok to say the least. And for the over priced bill of £138 (originally £155) I know a lot nicer places serving better food for a lot less

Not really getting the hype about this place. Ewe by name, eeew by nature. Very slow service. Staff were awkward and nervous with little chit chat or personality. Food looks NOTHING like the images posted on Instagram or the food served to food critics (who then share on Instagram). We ordered the lamb, which came out looking grey and bland, completely tasteless and was served with luke warm tomatoes and raw green beans. Looked nothing like their insta posts 🙄. Prices are just silly for the measly portions and the service charge is a joke and frankly embarrassing. It's like saying "we aren't confident that people will tip by choice ... so we will make sure that they do". A word of advice ... invest in training your staff, chefs and improving the food as opposed to pampas grass and tacky neon lights.

Generally the place is really nice. Kinda funky and a good atmosphere. Food wise is where things go down hill. Whilst the starter was nice the main was a huge disappointment. We had the beef Wellington. Its one of my favourite dishes and basically the whole reason for us going. It's not a cheap meal either. Beef Wellington should be a beautiful golden brown but this was almost raw pastry on the outside. I saw others and they are all the same. Which is a shame. I would have given more stars but the meal was OK. With prices Ewe charge OK just doesn't cut it.

The food was nice, but very small portions for the price. One of my party ordered a salad, we were all shocked to see the size of it, it was like a side salad but it was supposed to be a main meal. The food was nice, but we wouldn't be going again

Went asked for a ewe beer as was asked on last visit special beer went today the waiter said its only grolsch disappointed then asked for water none came ordered half chicken that's all that came with some coleslaw wasn't asked if wanted a side thought it came with chips then wanted 5.00 for a side of chips order a streak said can only have pink or well done it she asked like it medium sorry only pink came blood all over plate running into everything hate that took service charge off 7 75 asked why told them no sorry or anything put us off going back could have here's 50 per cent off next bill heard next table saying not coming back x something wrong somewhere

Ewe is a perfect place for Westhoughton, the staff are great the drinks are always spot on and the food is always cooked to perfection.

One of the best meals I have had and the service is excellent. The decor is beautiful and there is a nice chilled bar area and lots of outdoor dining available for when the weather improves.

Our first visit to Ewe was wonderful, mostly due to our server, David. Full of charm and chat ... he happily recommended food and drinks which were wonderful and kept us topped up with wine! Thank you ... ps- order the duck main, it's divine! X

Had a meal in the private dining area for my relatives birthday. We pre ordered and the food arrived hot, well presented and was really tasty. I had the satay skewers which were lovely chunks of ‘real’ chicken in a tasty sauce. Then I had salmon with broccoli. The only niggle I had was I had no carbs and my partner had no veg with his chicken - just a bit of coleslaw. He asked for some chips and was fine. The service was good especially our waiter David. He was attentive and efficient. Definitely recommend for food and atmosphere but a little out of the way.

Been here 3 or 4 times with my husband before and had a great meal and great service, came back tonight with some friends and the whole vibe was just off. Service was really really slow, a lot of whispering going on among staff like something was going on behind the scenes and it was like we were then forgotten, drinks were nice, food was great as usual but the slow service and lack of attention from staff when you needed them really spoiled it. Bad vibes tonight

First time visiting last night and had a great time. Very attentive service and the food was amazing. I had the mini beef burgers to start which were very nice and the beef Wellington for main which was unbelievably good. Will definitely be back! Little pricey but worth every penny.

Visited last Sunday around 7.30pm. restaurant was obviously coming to end of service but didn't feel rushed. Cauliflower tostada's were delicious - really tasty and the Ewe Shepherds pie was best I've ever had - addition of blackcurrants was inspired! Most of party had Sunday roast and only very minor criticism was some of roast potatoes were rather hard ...possibly due to it being end of service. Very good value for money on the whole, good service and really tasty food which was not just typical choices. Will definitely return.

Been several times and up until yesterday always had delicious food. We had prawn cocktail which was mainly lettuce, just four prawns!! Not worth £11 charged. We also had beef dinner, which was barely warm ,the meat was pink in places and raw in others . Very disappointed

Visited on 12 June 2023 to celebrate a birthday as a party of three. Basically our experience unfolded as follows. On arrival we were shown to our table and handed menus which probably 100 hands had touched previously. The menus were somewhat grubby and had remnants of previous visitors food stains. Wine glasses on the table were unpolished and displayed visible finger prints. The restaurant is air-conditioned but for some reason the main glass doors were open which just allowed flies and bluebottles to roam at will within the restaurant and up and down the inside of the windows close to where we were seated. Immediately outside, and within our eye line, there was a single male guest upright asleep in a chair, clearly already inebriated, with the contents of his pockets including a mobile phone strewn across the floor. He was drooling from the mouth and the waiting staff simply ignored this customer despite walking close to his table on a number of occasions. As our main courses arrived, the drunk gentlemen began to stir and started to stumble away from his table. To our absolute horror, he was making his way to the car park with his car keys to drive himself away. A number of other guests witnessed this, as did the waiting staff, but they wilfully ignored this when, we as customers, had to intervene and intercept the man in the car park to stop him driving away. We took his keys and handed them to the front desk. To our amazement the restaurant handed the keys back to him 5 minutes later despite the fact he could barely stand upright. Despite having only consumed about half our meals at this point, we remonstrated with the staff and it was at that point that two more senior male colleagues from Ewe emerged from a back office somewhere to help calm the situation down. We went outside yet again with the drunk man to help him find his misplaced mobile phone and his car keys were surrendered for a second time. We then had a conversation with Paul from the restaurant management and to be fair he was fully apologetic. We explained that our meals were now cold and half eaten and all we wanted to do now was get out of the restaurant as soon as possible. However, he did agree to scratch the bill for the partly consumed food and drink. As we were departing, he did say that he would write to us with an apology and a goodwill gesture, although several days passed and this was never forthcoming. Disappointing. We did email the restaurant a few days later and received a barely literate reply from someone claiming to be a 'general manager'. The reply was wholly unprofessional, contained several spelling and grammatical errors but went on to assure us that the staff concerned have been debriefed. It closed by saying 'I hope you and your family will return to dine with us in the future'. I think the chance of that happening is close to zero. We did share a copy of this review with Ewe management ahead of posting for comment, but they chose to ignore our emails. Avoid.

Excellent meal last night at Ewe - we had garlic bread for starters and the Beef Wellington which is amazing! Not only is the food excellent but so is the service - we were served by Fae who was really friendly and very helpful, Ryan served us with drinks afterwards and was really friendly and helpful as always, and also mentions to Paul, Ido and Mackenzie who helped us with enquiries for a party we have booked for next month. Also the live singer was brilliant too! Great food, great service and a great atmosphere!

We ate here pre pink concert and really enjoyed our meal. Perfect fish and chips and pasta dish. Good sized portions and friendly staff. Recommend.
