We went with a group of friends, I had the rump steak. Unfortunately I had to leave most of it as I could not cut through it because it was full of grizzle, and difficult to chew. I did mention this to the waitress, who said she would pass my comment on. But no one came back to me. When i pay for a meal I expect it to be edible. Disappointing, I will not be eating at this place again.

Had a bad experience the first time I visited. However my partner suggested we gave it a second chance. Second time was even worse. I wrote a accurate review. Had a message from the management, asking if I would contact them directly which I did. Only to be ignored. They obviously don't care about customer satisfaction. ABSOLUTELY ABYSMAL MANAGEMENT. I'D AVOID THIS PLACE.. AT ALL COSTS.

I have been coming here for years and have always had great food and service. Sadly this appears to have changed for the worse. Visited Saturday afternoon and waited at the bar to be served, and waited and waited whilst staff chatted, collected glasses, stacked the dishwasher. Eventually we were served and asked that our table be wiped over - never happened I had to take a cloth or rather staff said ‘yeah just take a cloth’ and do that myself. Stood a while at the bar again to order food and asked staff if the sandwiches had gluten free options as one of our party cannot eat gluten or lactose. No one seemed to know even though a poster says ‘ask a member of the team about allergies etc’ they said they would find out. Eventually ordered 3 lunches one of which was the gluten free option. Waited a good 40 minutes for the sandwiches and my daughter asked if her sandwich was gluten free as it didn’t look it and the waitress said I don’t know I’ll check and hey presto it wasn’t gluten free! In these days of food intolerances this is a serious mistake. We could handle the fact that she’d no idea whose steak sandwich was medium or well done ‘well that one looks more cooked’ was her suggestion. We called for a duty manager who really wasn't interested and asked if we wanted a voucher or anything - not sure he understood the seriousness of the gluten free mistake. The lack of staff training, the lack of care, the poor food is bad enough but the lack of understand and care where food intolerances are an issue is totally unacceptable. There is absolutely nothing I can recommend about this pub apart from the setting.

A beautiful building in a beautiful location, but sadly the food and service were both lacking. We’d booked a family Sunday lunch and settled ourselves down. Drinks ordered, no Coca Cola available (?) and a pint of beer never arrived until we’d chased it three times. Many of the food choices were unavailable and the roasts were underwhelming: ladles of packet gloopy, gravy sloshed all over everything, cold pre-prepared Yorkshires, roast beef ordered pink that wasn’t and everything tasted like it had just been delivered by a Brakes Brother van. Accompanying sauces/condiments were offered and never arrived. We were served by three different people, which resulted in zero continuity about what had been ordered and what hadn’t turned up. Sorry to say there are way better options available elsewhere for an enjoyable Sunday lunch, we won’t be returning.

Lovely pub but service was very poor. We were eventually seated and after 30 minutes we had to find someone to take our order. I could only presume the staff were more invested in the wedding going on rather than the paying customers. Food was tasty but served luke warm. No one asked for if we'd like condiments or water for the table and no one checked on our table until we had finished. Attention to detail is lacking.

We had our wedding reception at the Swettenham Arms on 30th August and the team delivered the perfect day for us. Steph was a brilliant events manager, who was easy to communicate with and said yes to everything we asked. Phil had taken over as general manager just two days before but you wouldn't know it - he was really organised, helpful and proactive. Glen and Alex were also brilliant at helping set the room up and making sure everything went smoothly, along with the bar and waiting staff. Some of our guests said it was the best wedding food they'd ever had! Thank you to everyone who made it so special for us and our guests.

I feel a bit strange writing this review, we have visited the pub several times since we moved to the area & have posted a couple of really positive reviews, however on this occasion it was a disaster. We decided to walk up & have lunch, ordered drinks at the bar & picked up some menus, returned back to the bar to order, no fish, no problem changed one to a chicken salad, another round of drinks all good up to now, an hour later still no food, went back to the bar to enquire, shockingly they said there was no chicken for the salad & our order just sat there, nobody bothered to come and let us know! Changed it to a chicken burger, 30 minutes late lunch arrived in dribs & drabs, they still couldn't manage to serve 6 lunches at the same time. Always enjoyed Robinson's in the past & happy to support a local business but this was a terrible experience & needs sorting out.

The pub is lovely but the food is really disappointing. The quality average, lacking flavour and over cooked. The outside area needs patio heaters. Good range of beers prices average. Menu is quite limited if you don’t eat meat.

Friendly bar staff but wait for food was over an hour and it was only when we asked what was taking so long that we were told they had run out chicken breast for the salad but didn't think to tell us! We had family visiting from Devon and were very embarrassed by such poor service.

Beautiful looking pub but sadly let down by the service. Maybe they are short staffed? We asked to sit at a table in the bar which hadn't been cleared. The waiter removed the crockery but didn't bother to wipe the table or restock the basket of cutlery, serviettes etc. We waited 45 minutes for 2 fishfinger sandwiches which were not worthy of £14 each. The tepid tomato soup that accompanied it tasted tinned with some basil thrown in and a swirl of oil to garnish. Very disappointed. This was a treat for my husband's birthday. Not rushing to return.

We were there this week in The Lovell Suite at a family funeral, for about 60 people. after going to this pub for over 50 years we were so disappointed how much it had deteriorated. There were no toilet rolls in the ladies, there was tea & coffee available but we had to ask for milk & sugar, while the food was fine there were no serviettes on the table & had to be asked for. There was a small bar in the room which only sold minimal drinks so we had to go to the main bar to fetch them. The bar itself I couldn’t believe , the beautiful copper top which the previous owners used to keep beautifully polished look looked like it had been wiped with a dirty mop. They had stopped serving Guinness but there was a substitute which was nothing like it. This country pub had a reputation for being one of the best in the area has really let itself down in my opinion, such a shame.

The last time we visited The Swettenham Arms was about 20 years and, despite it being highly recommended, we didn't see what was so special about it. The pub has now been taken over by Robinsons and most of the recents negative reviews seem to be from people claiming that it is not like it used to be. Personally, I'm quite glad about that. We booked a table in the dog friendly area and our two labs settled under the table. The young staff were friendly and attentive, even when I complianed about the "slimline" tonic. More on that later. The food was perfectly decent and at £46 for two people to have a two course meal with drinks, I feel the price is reasonable. Whilst we were there a couple came in with their enormous Great Dane which caused much amusement, and excitement from my labs. Overall, my experience was much better than my last visit and I'd happily recommend it. The only negative thing I have is the abscence of any sugar free tonic. This is probably Robinsons policy rather than any decision by the staff but I find it suprising that they take such care to cater for people with alergies on their food menu but don't make any concession to diabetics on the drinks menu. Fevertree "light and refreshing" was served to us when we requested slimline, but it is packed with sugar. Just see diabetes.uk to see what people have to say about this product. The only alternative that we were offered was diet coke. Robinsons - please review this policy.

Lovely pub. But won’t be going again. I don’t mind dogs in a pub but I DO OBJECT to them being allowed to sit on the furniture. We were going to eat but the fact that a dog was allowed to sit at a table completely put me off. I do not go out for a drink to sit on a seat that a dog has been sitting on.

Swettenham Arms. A picturesque Ken-ub (Kennel-come-pub) in Cheshire. Plenty of parking space and fab for sitting outside on a sunny day. If you like the kennel/pub combo then this is for you.... everybody and their dog and the usual anti-social dog behaviour along with owners feeding dogs from tables and owners who think we all love their dogs. Food was fine, as were the drinks and staff. It was 'ok' overall.

Lovely food and ambience plus dog friendly. The waitress was very cheerful and pleasant which makes all the difference! The only negatives: ( would have been 5 stars otherwise) Took a long time for the food to arrive. The fire was lit in the dog friendly area making it too hot for the dog (our reserved table was located in front of the fire!) and making my daughter feel faint. Bearable once the windows and door were opened to let air through. The crumble was stodgy and undercooked although the fruit was nice - not worth £7.50 I should have complained

Last week we held our Goostrey Probus annual dinner at the Swettenham Arms with nearly 40 people attending. Having worked with the events team and planned the event for some time we were able to select our meals from a choice of three or four starters, mains and desserts plus tea and coffee. We pre-selected our menus, provided a table and seating plan and everything went according to plan and bang on time. The Lovell Suite, (which has been extensively redecorated), looked brilliant and the tables were beautifully laid out. We also had use of the private bar facilities in the room. The food and service were excellent and we would certainly recommend this venue for such events. We were brilliantly looked after by the Events team, led by Jodie. Thanks for making this a great success and see you again in the future.

Robinson’s, you have a beautiful great pub used by all the locals and this week you have put some horrendous relief manageress on. A business is not a business without good people and the staff are the heart and sole of a pub. This is so bad all the locals have decided to start using the Space Invador until you can bring back your good people. Also just to note, the food is bang average and for what you charge there are way better options about. Get a grip.

Table was booked for two and on arrival, there is no reception, a long queue at the bar, only one young lady was serving the drinks. Went to second room and approached a waitress, again she was the only one serving the entire restaurant. Good heaven, we got table but it was difficult to pass through the chairs, so congested. Placed order, beef brisket was really tasty but side chips served were left over broken crisps like. Service was pathetic, because there was only young waitress, customers were raising their hands including us to get her attention. We can’t believe how the owner runs big restaurant with two young staffs, one for drinks behind bar and one for serving food. We don’t think it deserves more than two stars that goes to Chef for lovely and delicious food.

Always a favourite of mine. Great place for an evening meal or a coffee and a snack after a local walk.

At a busy time of year you think they would put on more staff. Two girls worked hard to keep up but service was slow. We ordered our meals and patiently waited. Eventually enough was enough and I went and enquired when our meals were...

Technically not true - just that they would not sell us their beer. Having walked a mile and a half we called in at 3.40pm for a drink with 6 people. Four others at the bar told us that it had been closed for 10...

Simple review. Just enjoyed a fantastic Christmas Day at this pub. The food was very well cooked and fantastic quality. We had a large table and yet there were no problems; everyone happy. The staff were brilliant. We will be back.

What a great disappointment. Local and visit often. Recently it’s been a good experience. However last nights food was shockingly bad and service was poor too. The place was empty. Two staff on the bar /service! Soup was served at scolding temperature and we both...

What a great pub , welcomed by Paula , 40 + of us descended on her and her team for a pre wedding drink , which turned into everyone ordering food , the poor guy in the kitchen was run ragged , the food was good the drinks were reasonable for Knutsford . Thanks a lot you were all brilliant !

Cheap beer but that's about it. Only pub I know where you have to queue in an orderly line to get to the bar! Can't comment on the food

We attended the festival of transport in Audlem and called in for breakfast at the Bridge Inn. The food was excellent, big portions and very good value with coffee or tea refills. The staff were very attentive and friendly and we will definitely go back again when we are in the area.
