Food was not up to much my friend had mixed grill all undercooked taken home for the dog did mention it but did not get much response ,I had tuna mayo sandwich could taste vinegar in it not much Tuna at all had a bad tummy ever since got home think the Tuna must have been off giving that pub a miss from now on

Do use the place quite regularly however today thought I’d have a bite to eat .. lees than £5 for the mains with plenty of choice .. I had liver onions and mash .. absolutely delicious... to be fair the place is not everyone’s cup of tea .. it’s a good old fashioned pub with the added bonus of home cooked meals .. who could ask for more

Four of us on a monday afternoon looking for some pub grub and was surprised when got menu that main courses are only £3.50. Wondered what we were going to get but surprisingly everything was great cooked great no corners cut on quality. Definitely recommend

Old school pub with mon-fri lunch deals Good deals on drinks and plenty of room inside; central location over-road from market. Needs an upgrade but the meals 50% Mon-Fri lunchtime are a nice draw with a good portion on my rice and chilli - £3.50 (50% off). Brew was £1.50

Noticed it sold my favourite pint Theakston Bitter. At £2 a pint now that is a bargain. Place in need of a re-furb but to be fair all the tables where clean and spotless. Seemed to be a bit of a Racing Pub as the many televisions had the racing channel on. Plenty of good offers on food and drink. Food served until 1800 hrs. Good food selection and would you believe it currently two meals for £6.99 if off main menu Mon-Thurs and it was pretty good too. Definitely on my hit list next time in Southport

A horrible wet day, looking for somewhere to, dry out, I had the ploughman's, my wife had the steak baguette - £6.95 each - absolute bargain, generous and tasty, 5 stars? Absolutely!

The lady behind the very friendly, table had been painted back and paint was rubbing off and had grafetti on. The food was very nice the all day breakfast was cooked to perfection and my 5 year grandson who is a fuss eater and doesn’t eat much had a good go at his chips normally he wouldn’t touch them.

Great place onde fun food. Great Gin. Went for a Birthday treat. The staff here are wonderful made us feel very welcome. The cheese board is the best I’ve had in years.

We went in and ordered steak well done it came out with blood coming from it I sent it back the barman said sorry when it came back to me it was still not cooked so needless to say I won’t be going back

Visiting Southport for the bank holiday weekend we were returning from the railway station after an afternoon watching a friend in the liverpool half marathon and happened to stumble on this place. The band they had on was fabulous which created a great atmosphere. Decided to eat here prices were good and the food top quality. Highly recommend x

Only been in for a few drinks since the new owners took over the place. I decided that I come here for lunch to see how the food was. I had the 8oz Rump Steak (Med Rare), I paid a little extra for the Stilton sauce (the sauce was abit salty but I think it's only due to it being Stilton cheese). Now usually when you pay for the sauce its usually only a small amount, but this was in a gravy boat (as you can see from the pic) so this was plenty for 2 to share. Well all I can say is the plate was completely empty including the Sauce bowl lol. I would come here again to try another dish of the menu. The price is great and the location is central of town which is great. They also do a special price menu for Pensioners at £5 with 8 choices.

Welcoming staff always prompt with the service been i there quite a few times lately. Savoroti and Julie always make you feel welcome' At weekends always have some good bands on . I must say the food is 10/10 and for the price its a win win !! Would definitely recommend to give the place a try you wont be disappointed.

I came here for lunch with friends. What a disappointment we waited an eternity for our food whilst watching a scruffy chef, who loudly proclaimed his name was Steve drinking from the bar. The food was inedible and actually smelled off. We left without eating anything, only to see him having a laugh and a smoke round the side of the pub. We wished the Macdonalds across the road was still open

My husband had mixed grill steak cooked to perfection worth£10 definitely I had ham sandwich and chips very nice.Would recommend this to anyone.

The member of staff seemed engrossed in her mobile phone refused to acknowledge me even though the place was dead,she proceeded to then walk off somewhere only to return huff and puff and finally accept she would have to interact with me such an inconvenience with my money to spend! I think maybe this dear is from another era, I left this place quickly and found a level of service that I would happily contribute to it's profit, shame rarely as I have been here many times over the last 20 years.

I actually liked it in here, definitely no frills. Bar was clean and we were served quickly. Nice cheap pint. I'd go back.

If you like monochrome decor you will love it in here. I found it a bit stark but to be fair the pub wasn’t very busy. They advertise live bands which we never saw as we were there too early but we need somewhere like this. I rather suspect it’s rock bands given ac/dc and similar was playing a lot. I hope you do well.

I have been visiting the pub on occasion for many years. I've met all the different owners and managers. All visits have always been great. Tried the food many times and I can honestly say I've never needed to complain. The staff are the best part of this establishment. Always super helpful and welcoming to everyone. I would advise a trip in to anyone in Southport!

Was up north visiting friends and by chance came across this little gem - had a nice steak and a bottle of prosecco. The landlady Suzanne was great fun. Will try and go back again 😊

We visited this pub for lunch when visiting Southport, not what we expected, we ordered 3 steaks and one lasagne , the steaks came they were cold and dried up looked as if they had not seen a pan in the last 3 Hours definitely not cooked to order, the lasagne had no pasta sheets in it not nice at all, we returned the steaks but they still came back cold. We asked for a salad instead of chips, this came as lettuce with two shaving of cucumber and three very small pieces of tomato.

Turned up at 7.00pm July 2018 for a meal. They have lots of menus and signs with many offers. Bad news for us. They stop serving food at 6.pm. the tables also needed a wipe down. Very sticky!!! Had to leave for Wetherspoons.

Went here and bought prosecco, couldn't believe how cheap it was! Nice place bar staff very pleasant

Lovely food and excellent value. The Sunday lunch is delicious and the steak pie is also very yummy.

We dropped on this pub on a day trip. Really friendly staff who helped us to look for hotels in the town. Ordered food, arrived quickly and very nice. Really cheap too. We too our two young children with us and were made to feel welcome. Would have been 5 stars but the toilets were in need of a refurb, but were clean. We went in the next day too, which was equally good.

As soon as i walked in the door i could smell stale beer, the seating looks like it had never been cleaned or replaced since opening, my eggs were undercooked and gave me sickness next day, the ham was over done aswell.

Popped in on my way home for a pint, decided to have some food too as I was peckish. Was served by Amanda, extremely friendly young lady with a pleasant and helpful attitude towards customers, the smile never left her face. Will definitely be back.

One of my favourite places to have lunch out with friends. The offers on food and drink are brillant,we all went with the 8oz steak for 4.99 which was lovely and a bottle of house wine was only 7.99, so we had a few!!!! The staff are always friendly and chatty!

Very dirty looks like they never have a cleaner in. Staff don’t seem to care. Very disappointing. We won’t be returning.

Fell on this pub for lunch totally by accident. Being over the grand old age of retirement (no further details will be given) and looking for a lighter lunch we spotted the menu in the window of this Greene King establishment - 'OAP two course special £3.99'. The meal consists of a starter (four choices) and a main course (four choices). Great meal excellent value for money. Typical drinking pub surround but acceptable.

(pulverizadores higienizador todo excepto la tela mientras su comer) necesita más personal intenta hacer everythink was a sí mismo, sino que falla. El lugar tiene un olor raro como wc lástima usto como este lugar no vamos a volver, no puedo imaginar lo que sería si hay 5 o más personas. El tipo que lo dirige se sientan lo suficientemente amable para él pero tiene que estar en lugar.

Comida maravillosa y el servicio. Tuvimos el 9 oz filetes de cadera que se ofrecen de lunes a miércoles a £4. 99 y el Lager por sólo £1. 88 una pinta porque el fútbol. La única desventaja fue que el caballeros estaba inundado.

El lugar es muy antiguo, aparecimos para unos juegos de piscina y una bebida. Bastante caro cerveza, la nueva JD sidra era muy caro pero precioso. Mesa de billar era vacilante seguã y las juntas de dardos en muy malas condiciones. El lugar era viejo...

Pool, darts, sky sports, wifi, good prices. What more could you want :) visiting on holiday and have tried just about all top pubs on trip advisor.. if you're just looking for somewhere to have a pint, chill and play games or watch sport this is it! Really happy with friendly staff too.

Change of landlord, looks forlorn, remember it being more popular, could probably donwith a refurb acting landlord dong his best.

Last time I was in the coronation was 8 months ago went into yesterday The decoration is clean toilets are average unfortunately there are no meals but the staff where great and lovable

Food and menu average, but not overpriced. We ventured in Saturday lunch time and there were families and mainly groups of men watching football. Staff friendly enough.

Nice pint. The place needs doing up and the toilets were awful. Cheap pints at under a fiver for 2 pints. Go for a beer just not a wee.

Went here on a Wednesday afternoon and was greeted by the bar maid. The food and drinks were served very quickly and both tasted lovely. Would definitely recommend this pub to family and friends. The atmosphere was homely and when I asked if I could take my food that I had leftover she put it in a container for me which was really nice of her.

Had really nice fish and chips in here and the cocktails were good too!! The toilets need something doing to them though as they have a lot of damp, the staff are friendly too.

Visited at lunch time with my wife, son and daughter. Pub was busy as live football on TV which was fine as we are Liverpool fans and they were featured. However the atmosphere was loud and agressive even before the game began, and a group of noisy men at the pool table were being excessively noisy and intimidating. The bar staff all congregated at one end of the bar and showed no enthusiasm for customer service when we were trying to place our order. The decor was very shabby and dirty, the tables were sticky and chairs were damp. The food was average and although Greene King IPA ale was advertised prominently as available every day at £1.99 per pint, the barmaid said "We haven't had that for AGES!" when I tried to order it. There were blatant drug deals being conducted in the toilets throughout our visit and this pub is a disgrace to Southport and to its owners. Avoid unless you enjoy an intimidating atmosphere.

This has been and remains a very popular Pub. The guest Ales are marvellous and an excellent location to meet up with friends

Christopher Johnson an amazing landlord , new all the things available , was exteamly amazing with my son who is disabled . Acomadated every thing we needed . Would recomend this pub made us feel welcome being local.

Okay, the Coronation pub will not win awards for being the most upmarket pub or one that serves al a carte food but without doubt my wife, mother in law and I had a lovely meal served by lovely staff and at a bargain price. The pub is opposite the Southport market and so not easy to find for visitors to Southport like us but for those who can look past the slightly worn out feel to the place you will find a good heart and food and drink at very good prices and I must say the quality belied the low cost. Don't be a snob and you will enjoy your visit.

Absolutely love this pub. Always a good pint and good welcome. Had fish and chips today. Really nice and excellent value too. Only the olduns in today but stopped and had a chat with them. Once again great pub

The Coronation pub is a big old traditional pub in Southport not far from the main train station.A pub which is well kept looks great from outside with its flower baskets hanging outside when you enter here the pub is zoned into three areas the bar the lounge and the sports lounge here there is a pool talble darts board and massive screens for watching sport.The pub is quite large all exposed brick with many pictures hanging around the walls it is a very clean and tidy pub.When here we had a pint of guinness (they have a limited real ale range) and watched champions league football then got are train back to Liverpool.A nice pub to go and watch sport when in this part of Southport.Opening hours are. Monday-Sunday 11.00-12.00 (later weekend)

We popped into this pub to have a glass of orange and found it to be very welcoming and homely. We were served straight away with no fuss and were asked if everything was okay. Very good manners.

We were doing a little pub crawl in Southport and this pub was alway's going to be one of the first pub's to visit,,in fact it was at the top of the list.The CORRIE has a great selection of real ales, we started off with a MORLAND OLD SPECKLED HEN,superb nice and refreshing then we moved on to a GREENE KING .I.P.A.again just fantastic.This us a pub that gets seriously busy as it was when we visited,great atmosphere,nice staff and good for watching the footy or all major sporting event's. Easy to locate get to LORD STREET and cut down KINGS STREET were you will find this famous southport pub.Opening hour's are; Monday to Sunday, 10am till 11pm. Great pub,superb beer's.

I had dinner with my husband yestarday at this pub , my impresion : the food was not good at all i had a hot dog and the bread was old just not tasty , the place is so dirty especialy the bathrooms , and the atmosphere is so depresive so over all not a good place to eat or drink

Had a good night here with a group of girlfriends great place to go but barmaid must have been having a bad night, though she was efficient she didn't raise a smile or engage with us at all .....or perhaps she only likes to serve men?

Great pub, the Landlord, Christopher, a genial portly old gentleman was extremely welcoming and affable, reminiscent of an old Dickens character, and kept us amused for hours with tales and stories creating a great atmosphere for eating and drinking. We have eaten their on several occasions and Chef Rankin serves up an array of spectacular meals catering to your every needs, from a burger and fries to excellent steaks, Chef Rankin is prepared to go all the way to please.In conclusion, a great pub, great atmosphere, great food, great value
