The Regal Moon in Rochdale

The food here is average, its OK, but not special, hence the prices. Most meals offer an alcoholic drink or a soft drink, which is good. Unfortunately , there are too many FRUIT FLIES flying about the place, many nestling behind the warmth of the self service coffee, cappuccino and chocolate machines. This place offers warmth in its building, a down to earth place for down to earth, no nonsense people, a place to chat and banter.the bins that serve the drinks machines for emptying used tea bags sugar wrappers, need a good clean. Other than that, it's an OK place.

Great spot, went for several drinks/met up with friends and place was very busy, found the staff to be very helpful, tried the "Tapas" dishes, all pretty good; well worth It. Dropped a star, as like others, place was full of "fruit flies" for some reason. should staff want to try and find out why so many flies are there, we were on table 5, maybe they were attracted by the chicken tapas or just like to spend time In there? As a carer for my friend, he was concerned that the "fruit flies" were attracted by the little boo boo he had made before finally making It to the disabled toilet

Table was left unclean, food took over half an hour to come, fruitflies for some reason hovering around my table??? And people snogging on the table across!! DISGUSTING

Plates were not taken away after multiple times of asking, spoons were dirty. Food was cold twice and had to be sent back. didn't bring straws on request.

(Sunday 18th Nov 24) Came in for Dinner and a few drinks. walked through the front entrance, floor was covered in empty sauce sachets, discarded serviettes and food. every empty table was full of empty glasses. This is a big Wetherspoons and we couldn't find one clean table to sit at. Needless to say, we had our drink and left swiftly. There are many little independent small pubs around the town centre.

I have previously reviewed this place but would just like to add to it. Good food for the price, and a great variety of cheaply priced ales and lagers. The downsides are that it attracts undesireables, gennerally begging outside the front doors but regularly coming indoors trying to cadge money and fags, during the summer months when many customers sit outside at the front of the pub where they have tables and chairs, it is constant with them, though some of the staff do try to forward them on. Most of the staff are quite good, some you get a smile out of (Ben), but as for Joel, he is quite the opposite, even creating a misserable atmosphere, and he’s expression has never changed all the time ive been going in there, he has never even acknowledged when ive said Hi, so now ive given in on that. He gets on with he’s job and seems to be very efficient at it, but for this sort of trade customers would like to see a friendly face. For the rest of the staff, most of them fairly young, they all work hard and never seem to stop, though just a little friendlier with the paying customers would’nt be too much to ask.

Great food, great cheaply priced beer. Only downside it attracts undesirable’s cadging fags and cash. Most of the staff are quite good apart from one, he gets on with he’s job, just that he’s expression never changes, in all the time I’ve been going in there he’s never managed to crack a smile, and not even acknowledging us when I say hi.

Bloody awful service from ignorant bar staff ! Totally ignored by staff until I enquired. "I'm busy" was the reply !!! Walked out in disgust !!

overall food was very nice, however, we ordered 2 lots of popadoms and 2 minutes later our table got deactivated… what is wrong with popadoms????

Stopped for a coffee at this large Wetherspoons in Rochdale. It's a nice enough place, clean and tidy during our visit. Busy, but not boisterous, perfectly acceptable pub to stop and have break in. Enjoyed the visit.

What a pleasure it is to go Regal Moon. It's very clean. Staff work very hard in cleaning tables for the next customers too sit down. No long queues at the bar. Staff very attentive. it is one of the Wetherspoons I have been in Credit to all the Staff.

Been going to Spoons since they opened, so we’ll versed to offer up a review fairly based upon the amount of times I have ate and drank here. This review isn’t aimed entirely at the Regal Moon, but is a little dig at Wetherspoons in general as well. Went for a peaceful lunch, a couple of pints and a few small plates with one other family member. Ordered two portions of chicken wings and a small pizza to share. Arrived promptly, and the general quality of the food was good! Chicken wings were hot and crispy and no issue with the pizza as well. Now my gripe! Chicken wings arrived with no dips, now, this was my fault for not paying attention to the app as Wetherspoons must have changed this recently, and when placing an online order, chicken wings, no longer arrive with a dip, you have to select this when ordering on the app……my bad, my mistake, but not obvious when ordering, I must be more observant in the future! Now I pointed this out to The on duty manager, and she was very helpful in acknowledging my mistake, and promptly ordered the dips of my choice. It was at this point whilst waiting for my dips to arrive, that I decided to count the number of chicken wings. Quite clearly on the menu. It states 10 chicken wings per portion. However, our plates only had nine! Call me an old sceptic by all means, but to make a mistake once is acceptable, but twice on the same order is either incompetent or deliberate. Make of that what you will. I know my thoughts. Spoons have been chipping away little by little over the years, both on food and drinks. Shame really, just not the establishment that it once was, maybe feeling the pinch like most.

Good food . Good choice of real ale. Spoons prices of course. For a Spoons the staff service is also great. Been 4 times now .Its has a very good atmosphere as well. We been on mainly Saturdays but also one Friday .Possibly the best Spoons in Gtr Manchester

I ordered pizza for my autistic son he were having a melt down because of how long the wait were for the staff then came to my table with a pizza lay it on the table to then take it away as it wasn't ours this made my sons meltdown worse

Went to the Regal Moon with a friend and we both had a lovely meal and drinks at a bargain price. Impressive place with helpful, friendly staff. The Regal Moon is a great asset to Rochdale. Well done to everyone at the Regal Moon. Keep up the good work!

very nice place, - more like airport standard than certain other spoonies around... I was only on a quick pass through on that visit... I even went back later for a second drink...

I haven't been to Rochdale town centre in year's,so while having to pass some time in the town,i passed it in the Regal Moon. I have been in a few Weatherspoons & this was no different to any othet. Although it was only 10.30am the place was busy enough,i found a table & went to order,just a breakfast & coffee,obvious advantage of the refil. Food came out in super quick time,standard breakfast,shame the egg wasn't runny rest was ok. Two cups of coffee,via the machine all ok.I have to say it was a nice place to be,even bumping into someone i knew. Overall it's a Weatherspoons, so you really can't go wrong, unless your picky..

My friend and I are regular visitors to Wetherspoon establishments all over the North of England so the menu and the food you order from it are very much of a muchness though on this occasion my friend voted his Chicken Burger the best he had ever tasted. From my point of view the Steak & Kidney Pudding was nothing special though, as ever, was excellent value along with the refreshing pint of Orange Soda. What set this Wetherspoons apart from the rest was the magnificent carpet that adorned a wide area of what used to be a former theatre with the walls adorned with plenty of evidence of it making it a great place to enjoy a meal with plenty of room between tables. Please wipe your feet before you enter as it would be sacrilege to mucky that beautiful carper.

Waiting to collect my car and killing time called in for Ham Eggs and Chips, ate matbe a 3rd as the sell from the chips turned my stomach, egg cold and ham ( if it was ham ) rubbish.

Meal was okay for a Wetherspoons nothing to write home sadly, the steak was nicely cooked, the mashed potatoes was like rubber and no sachets of hp sauce, ketchup or mayonnaise to be found!

We generally like the gourmet steak with peas, tomatoe and onion rings however on this occasion there was No peas, no tomatoe or onion rings, meat tasted like leather!

Me and my friend came we sat at table 67 I was treated to a breakfast for my birthday as we don't see each other much well what can I say it was bloody awful the mushrooms looks vile there was a table spoon full of beans that was a joke the sasusge looked like it had been rewarmed up and the bacon was like rubber and was overcooked and cold so I took it back and asked for a fresh one as it was cold and for the value there wasent much on the plate so the guy behind the bar said sorry and said we will sort that for you so the breakfast came back to me exactly the same it wasent re made it was simple rewarmed in the microwave witch made the hole thing vile to eat the egg was over cooked I tryed the toast it was just completely disgusting the only decent thing was the coffee never again will I eat hear Regal moon please sort your kitchen chef out as I work my self in hospitality and that kind of food was disgusting

Called in for a couple of drinks after some shopping. As usual with spoons the place was busy, albeit very large inside as it is a converted Cinema. We found a booth and I have a couple of the unbeatable value Ruddles from Greenking which was on amazing offer at 0.99pence a Pint!. No issues with service or anything else. Also we enjoyed the wall art and Cinema theme, including the Organ player over the bar!

We went to the regal moon this morning for breakfast . The breakfast was reasonably priced £10.67 for a large breakfast and traditional breakfast with 2 unlimited coffees. Waited around 10 minutes for the breakfast to turn up. When the breakfast arrived it was cold not warm cold so we sent them back . We got a new breakfast 5 minutes later and unfortunately that was also cold . I wanted to send it back again but my partner stopped me saying she didn’t want to make scene. The hottest part of the breakfast was the coffee, the pub wasn’t full so the chefs weren’t under any excess pressure, they just do not seem to able to produce a hot breakfast. To make matters worse as we got up to leave the couple at the table next to us also returned they’re breakfast because yes they were cold .When the lady complained she was told by staff that they had only just come from the kitchen For a chain the size of Wetherspoon I don’t think this acceptable and it’s not the first time this as happened. Sort your cooks out

Convenient Wetherspoons pub to the Metro tram stop in the centre of Rochdale. Usual extensive menu available. Service a little slower than some of this chains pubs but chips were fresh and hot and the paninis very tasty. Good selection of drinks in the meal...

I came here with a friend for breakfast, my friend ordered poached eggs on toast with a side of crispy bacon, the eggs were solid and over cooked, and the bacon was snap-able, my food was ok apart from pieces of plastic in my gravy...

Food good value service was very good and there was only 5 mins waiting from placing order to being served good selections of lager and beer.

When you get off a tram it's the first thing you see. Why not join all the other locals and pop in for a coffee, meal or drink. The old cinema is full of character and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. This time we didn't have time for a meal but we saw plenty enjoying theirs.

Popped in one evening while we were passing. It was quite busy, we managed to find a table and used the app to do the ordering as I didn’t fancy queueing. I had some cotton candy gin which was very nice. Had the chicken strips to start, they were cooked well. Along with the chicken bites, and of course nachos. For the main we both had burgers.

If we visit Rochdale we occasionally pop in for a breakfast or lunch. The food is great value for money and consistently good. They have a large range of drinks, especially real ales at very reasonable prices served by friendly attentive staff. The only criticism I have is that it can be a bit dark due to dim lighting.

Like i said absolutely aghast at a member of staff asking to check my shopping bag on leaving like i somekind of common thief ifeel absolutely humiliated

If you want to see drunk people shout at each other at 9am this is the place to be ! Such a shame as the breakfast was tasty and good value at £4.60 with a coffee.

We normally eat at the wetherspoons in Manchester but as we were in Rochdale we tried the Regal Moon and were not disappointed food good and service good and good price.

Because we did not know out table number (sat at around a pillar) we were refused service CV and said it was up to us to find the number even though we were adjacent to the bar

A very large group of us visited this pub for lunch, we are so glad we did. The staff had reserved our places and served over 40 dishes quickly with a lovely, professional manner. The pub was packed but this had no affect on the service we recceived. All meals were hot and nicely presented and the food was great! A really lovely staff team with very affordable and tasty food, we will definately be back. Thanks so much x

What a great Wetherspoon’s been coming here on and off for over 15 years and it’s always a good people watch. Just want to give a shout out to BEN behind the bar who is amazing and can see through the wall from the back room and knows for SURE who will be served next and don’t dare challenge him as he has the power. Well done BEN love your work ethic. YOUR AMAZING..

Weatherspoons have found a niche, converting old buildings into pubs. This was a Cinema, in it's day. Enter and you won't need much imagination to see the original use. Not just from pictures around the walls, or a Charlie Chaplin above the bar, but they've kept the shapes and rooms, raising up steps as you move through the place.

Just popped in to the Regal Moon on my way home and was served by a really great barmaid called Shauna. All the staff were kind and pleasant and it was great to be there again. Back soon, I hope.

This is one of the best JD Wetherspoons I've been in. The staff were plentiful, friendly and efficient. The food was not and the atmosphere was great.

Well, this is a first! My wife & I have just been thrown out of Wetherspoons. The ROCHDALE Wetherspoons - Regal moon. early sixties and never been thrown out of a pub in our lives.

This fine watering hole was just what was needed after visiting the local cemetery. The staff are helpful and friendly.

Very busy served quickly on a Fri eve. Was surprised at how hard it was to get a seat at 4.30pm on a Friday

What a lovely breakfast , very quick and food was pipping hot! Deffiantly come again. Toilets also very nice and clean :)

Ordered 2 burgers tonight and when they arrived they were just tepid and greasy almost like they'd been pre-cooked and stood around for a bit. Not the usual Wetherspoons standard I'm afraid and it will be quite some time before I order one again.

I’m not sure what’s happening here at present but the last couple of visits haven’t been great. I have had to send food back because of it not being right! ( No Bacon ) when I ordered bacon and beans on toast. It’s dirty. And the once amazing Ale selection is not that amazing anymore. I think I am going to give this place a miss for a while and try a different Wetherspoons. I understand that new staff make mistakes, but it shouldn’t be an excuse and that should also tell the management that more training is needed. Even the toilets are not up to basic standards.

We often go to the Regal....or our local 'spoon's....to meet up with friends. It's clean. It's excellent value. The food is very good value, even though the quality is variable, day to day. The menu is as per Wetherspoon's.

Decent clean place offering the usual Weatherspoons fare, bar staff were a bit miserable although the table staff were great, service fairly quick and the food was presented well and we both enjoyed our food choices, disabled toilet locked and could not be opened even with ‘Radar’ key which was a nuisance, generally a good place although our visit was spoilt by kids running riot, running up and down, messing with coffee machine and generally being a pain in the backside mainly due to parents who were glued to their mobile phones! Worth a visit but definitely not if there are kids in there.

Stopped here for a quick breakfast & used the app to order the so called table service food. When it came there were no cups for the coffee, I asked the server where were the cups & she said you have to get them at the bar, so we had to queue up to get them, then I realised there was no marmalade with the order, again finding out that you had to get them at the bar, by the time we’d done all that the breakfast was cold. Stupid system, won’t be going there again.

came back from Bury back to Rochdale though we would treat ourselves to a meal and a drink at our local j.d. Wetherspoon's nice and cool with everyone having either a drink or some food.

Possibly the best Wetherspoons pub in the country. With the app I don't even have to leave my seat. Had a lovely steak meal and a pint for £11.

The staff were very helpful and friendly; I got something to eat and it was great, but I think it was cooked 'a-la-ding' ( microwaved). The only problem I had was that the cutlery was filthy! Good food, shame about the cleanliness.

Visited here on a sunny May Saturday, we had reserved tables for 15of us, tables were set up with menus and condiments all ready upon our arrival.

I am a big "Spoons" fan. Like the real ale & I like the food. Service always quick. Reason it only has an average rating: Manager(ess) at Regal Moon is sourfaced & unhelpful every time I have been - whether it is serving behind the bar or dealing with a complaint. She should not be in a job facing the public!

I called into the Regal Moon today after a hospital check - up. The bar staff I found attentive, the young lady with dark hair (sorry, I don't know her name ) was brilliant, but I'd like to mention a young man called Chris with light brown short hair. I'm not sure of his name, but I think it started with D. He was collecting glasses and serving food and was extremely helpful to me whenever I asked anything.

The Regal moon is one of the nicest Wetherspoons I have been in and I have been in a lot. Its not very new but it is very welcoming and the staff are lovely. The food is always hot and the place is nice and warm . The prices are cheaper than other Wethersoons and they havent gone to Bloomer Bread for the Sausage butties. Most of them have put there sausages on bloomer bread and charged over £1 more. You dont get any more sausages just more bread. We have stopped going in the pubs that use Bloomer Bread instead of rolls so stay the way you are regal moon

Do not go to this place with anyone from out of town and save yourself embarrassment.

we had a buger and chips the burger was very over done with very very little salad on it was with 5 chips i had chicken breast wich was rubbery with a handful of mexican rice grains with avpot of the eorst tasting peri peri sause ive ever had used to eat there a lot wouldnt eat there again

Having a visit to Rochdale feeling in need of a pint,called in this weatherspoons ,it is a very large one but its is so clean and bright, The seats are not to close so don't feel crowded .

Went here for breakfast Xmas eve & Boxing Day. Even if you 'Pop' in for a coffee, this building is worth a visit. Now a Wetherspoons , this is a beautiful building that once was a Theatre/Cinema.Tastefully transformed but not forgotten it's history. Glamorous toilets, balcony's and Memorbillia adorning the walls. The breakfast we had were 10/10 which having a Vegan in the group most can't cater for.Recommend it!

Typical wetherspoons that does not have to much competition in the center of Rochdale.when for the steak night offer which was good value but the concept of serving my wings as a starter was lost on the staff as they arrived with the main together with the tomato that was not required.it is what it is so has to be given a good ‘

I've always been a big fan of Wetherspoons and this one is a big one! Right in the centre of town. Serves good beer and good food in a pleasant atmosphere.

Ah, The Regal Moon, where everybody has a smile on their face and a twinkle in their eye. Wonderful decor, exquisite cuisine and bar staff who know how to turn your frown upside down. Going for a drink there felt like being the lead actor in a quintessentially British TV show with David Jason and David Attenborough. I know Attenborough doesn't act but he could do a good narration of all the feral wildlife that frequents there.

Depending on your expectations this is either going to be a budget pub/restaurant or a down market establishment to you, personally I don't hate it here as there are lots of positives and negatives.

My friend & I visit every month. We both enjoy our meals with a cheeky alcoholic drink. This is a busy place especially on a Saturday.you can always find a seat. The staff are pleasant& attentive. Food is served quickly. The only complaint which is some parents cannot keep control of their children.theyre all over the floor messing about & noisy. But we'll worth a visit.

Its Wetherspoons.. Cheap and cheerful. Food is OK, as good as any pub restaurant, and far cheaper than most. Common complaint about the chain is cold food, and sadly this is no different. The pub is large, airy, well furnished and decorated. Staff were pleasant and efficient.

The real ale was great , huge choice at very reasonable price . The food - well my meal was a Chicken Tikka Marsala on Curry Night . My husband ordered a Gammon Steak - that was hidden under peas, tomatoes mushrooms + chips . Curry ok not the best but for the price it was edible . The gammon steak was so over cooked that a steak knife could not cut it !!! So he only ate the Vegetables. Luckily when the waiter came to clear our table , he took one look at the overcooked Gammon Steak and said immediately " that's not good " then " I will refund you the price of that meal " Within 2 minutes he presented us with the money . So maybe not the place to order anything that doesn't get cooked in a Microwave !!!! Chef obviously needs some training !!!!

Called in for a quick lunch . Pleasant clean surroundings. Food ordered was tasty and good value for money. Did not use the ladies room . The only disappointing part was my salad came in a dish that had chips in it around its edge

never dissapoints in the regal well not until recently anyway ! food is nowhere near as nice as 6 mths ago new chefs dont seem to care about food presentation or consistancy very hit and miss these days take your chances is all i can say now but hey ho cheap food and booze

We were visiting from New Zealand, we used to live in the area, and popped in for a late breakfast. We ordered the full breakfast (cant remember how much it was but really cheap) it was massive and delicious. The staff are really good, and friendly. Great atmosphere. Just how I remembered it from years ago.

we decided to try the regal moon as the day before we had a very poor experience at the sandbrook, we certainly made the right choice. we had 2 breakfasts and a breakfast wrap unlimited coffee and a tea for a cost of £12.35. the cost at the sandbrook was £13.76 for 2 breakfasts and 2 coffees. the regal moons quality was far better than the sandbrook and the staff were friendly and polite. the tables were cleared as the people left as was not the case at the sandbrook, going for tea tonight.

The regal moon is a brilliant pub/restaurant.The choice of drinks/beverages. The price,the food is good quality,the service is always good and quick and the staff are wonderful.The decor is lovely and comfortable and cleanliness is good xxxx

We went to the regal moon for something to eat at lunchtime.Pub was very busy at lunchtime. Didn't enjoy the fish and chips at all. Felt that i couldn't enjoy it at all.didnt have a good taste at all.
