Great food and service. All got a bit noisy for us, but you can't have everything

Went to Eagle and Child for food a couple of months ago, and we were very impressed. I had the butter fried chicken burger which was pretty good. After a good first experience we decided to go again and it was a disappointing experience. Got a fish and chips today. Fish felt a bit stale and didn't taste good at all. Curry sauce was alright. My had a steaksandwich, and she didn't like it as well. Our second visit here was huge disappointment cause we had high expectations after the first visit. Not sure if I'll want to go again.

Came today for a pre-Christmas meal and weren’t disappointed, after seeing a rave review on instagram a few weeks ago. Great selection on the menu, delicious food and gorgeous decor to match. Will definitely be back in the future!

We are staying over in Ramsbottom for a family Christmas getaway and stumbled on this hotel. What can I say, everything was perfect the room are so cosy and immaculately clean. The view from our room is amazing. Lying in bed on a cold bleak day all cosy looking out was so lovely. We decided to eat in the hotel and all four of us chose different things and all thoroughly enjoyed it. Breakfast was amazing and all served by super lovely staff. This place is amazing I wish we could stay another night but we will definetely be back and will recommend to friends. Thank you for a perfect pre Christmas getaway you made us so welcome.

We went here on a cold winter night and there is nowhere better at that time of year. the food is delicious and comforting and the beer was delicious. We ordered the venison special and short rib with crumble to follow. Very few places do it better!

Unfortunately, the food (well, not on our occasion) no longer lives up the excellent reputation of this gastro pub. I've been many times and was always well satisfied. The turkey Christmas roast (dry Turkey roll consisting mostly of tasteless stuffing) was disappointing. It was a shame because we had been so much looking forward to the evening.

5 of us went for Christmas Dinner on arrival asked if we pre booked Christmas Dinner advise that I han not ,unfortunately becuse I had not then it was not available to us ,I advised that I had made the booking by phone and it han not been explained that I should pre order Christmas Dinner , We were advise by a young lady that she could accommodate us but we would all have have the Christmas Dinner menue and tat we could not mix and match,we decided to go for the alacart menue instead, which turned out to be a wise decision for some of us ,steak in blue cheese sauce loverly ,steak pie great, Christmas Dinner not so good,3 thin slices of turkey roll more stuffing than meat poor ,fish and chips ,chips good fish tastless and watery too much batter rather on the dark side than the normal golden, tartar sauce excellent, curry sauce watery no taste of curry, (sent it back saying this is not curry sauce, told it was and the could be replaced but with the same told them not to bother),Lancashire cheese soup (I was looking forward to this ) bland hardly any taste. Overall a disappointing experience, we have been a number of times before and enjoyed it ,but the truth be known I could not recommend it anymore,Oh the staff were lovely .

Got our order wrong and overcharged us. Tables were sticky and there isn't sufficient parking. Where's your Teepee gone.. Wheres your teepee gone... Far far away....

The eagle and child a few months ago had amazing food, probably the best steak in the area. We visited this week and we're disappointed with the food, the fish was double fried which was really crispy but the interior mushy, another dish was the chicken burger which it was great to see 2 fried thighs but these were really greasy. It was as though no time had been given for them to rest before loading them to the bun or serving, it wasn't nice at all. Only because of the first few experiences and the lovely staff can I say the rating is a 4/5 ... the latest visited is more 2/5 also because the menu was more limited and lack of beers and ales available.

Popped in for lunch mid week. Have to comment on the amazing whipped butter with sourdough (proper dark horse - try it) And the cheese and onion pie was amazing Excellent service and just a nice pub in picturesque surroundings

Decided to book for Sunday dinner for me and my friend it was the best pub food I've ever had in my life a credit to George the chef and the girl that served us was very nice called Lily she couldn't do enough to help the rib beef in gravy with smoking mash wow will definitely be back 🤌

We booked a table for a meal for 5. After looking at the menu I was surprised by the prices to say that it was a pub/Inn. I had the fish which for me was overcooked. The batter was very crispy and by the end was brittle and difficult impossible to eat. However I would say that the other 4 meals were perfect. The prices at the bar was rediculas I paid £6.20 for a pint of Larger allthough this was a premium larger compered to other pubs in the same area was over the top. Finally to end when I received the bill there was a 10% service charge of 22.70 !!! I was very upset 😡 and if I had not been out with my family I would have strongly protested. I will not be returning.

We’ve just been to our second tasting menu evening. Every course was well prepared and challenged the norm. All of the staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about each course and the accompanying wines. Highly recommended

Lovely atmosphere and great service, but disappointing food for the price. Bland hummus served freezing cold directly from fridge.

Went for dinner with a friend, had a really lovely evening - all the food was spot on and served hot and the staff are really attentive.

Simply outstanding food and wonderful customer service. We all thoroughly enjoyed our starters and main courses - each one was delicious and we ordered a range from fish dishes through to pies. One of the best gourmet pub lunches

Eagle & Child is both a good place to sleep and eat. Booked an overnight whilst walking around the area. Accommodation was comfortable and well thought out - everything was there for you and importantly the sleep quality was great too. Food and service all excellent and team here could not do enough for you. Top marks to housekeeping team for such spot on room presentation - a department that rarely gets a mention beyond the food and drink areas. Would recommend.

Had a lovely lunch with family on Sunday, made our visit so special and had amazing service from Giorgia and Jess. Will be back soon

Stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The view from the restaurant is stunning and the weekend breakfast is nothing short of amazing 🤤 A special thanks to the super helpful staff 🤍

The service wasn’t great or friendly and our starters took over an hour to arrive. By then the table next to us (who arrived about 20mins after us) already had their mains. The food however was nice.

We had a spontaneous afternoon visit. Was accommodated for food in the orangery which had a lovely view out over the moors. Staff were extremely attentive and the food was faultless. Will definitely eat here again

We all went to the Eagle and Child ,14 of us and a baby, for my Mums 80th birthday meal yesterday. We were not disappointed, the food and service were excellent and the perfect venue in the conservatory. Izzy and all the staff made sure everything was just perfect. Thank you so much all of you x

We come here for Sunday lunch. We were looking for nice Sunday lunch restaurant where is dog friendly . There were snug seats where is dog friendly area near bar. Unfortunately from snug seats, we couldn’t see peel tower through windows but good enough for us and really enjoyed Sunday lunch. We definitely visit again with our fur baby.

Louis the waiter was amazing!! Very patient with our dietary requirements. I had beef Sunday roast. It came rare but they changed it for me as wasn’t to my liking. When it was replaced I cleared the plate! A party of 7 all really enjoyed the food. Recommend rib eye steak. Mid range price but well worth the price 😊 Definitely would like to return

An absolutely splendid evening of food and drink. The crab arancini was leng. Special mention to issy as she was rather hospitable and charming, whilst not being too forward. The chefs, including Cody were also wonderful when I spoke to them and this was defo reflected in the food that we ate. 10/10 - ethereal.

Excellent place to eat brilliant quality food & very tasty. Staff couldn't be more helpful & friendly dogs allowed in bar area. Has a restaurant in the conservatory.

Perfect for a sunny day... Drinks and top food with a huge outdoor green.... Very nice interior too.

Stayed here one night when visiting the area. Made very welcome on our arrival, the young guy offered help with luggage, and showed us to our room. Booked the dog friendly Eagle Owl room, which was beautiful, with large comfy bed, drink making facilities and en suite rainfall shower with toiletries. And we had complimentary drinks given too! Are in dog friendly area of bar and again the service was excellent and food perfect. Sat outside in large beer garden with teepee and outside bar and pizza oven, but showers forced us back inside. A hot night but room was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast this morning served in dog friendly area of bar with friendly helpful guy and breakfast was fresh and plentiful, with a hot full English, Lancashire style. Many thanks everyone.

Yet again our experience dining at Eagle & Child was nothing short of exceptional. The food was fantastic. Great flavour, quality and presentation. We tried the brisket bao buns for starter. Superb! The Steak Frites again top notch. Massive thanks to all the team. Really attentive and friendly.

Fabulous area out the back in the tipi for a private function. Woodburner pizza and an amazing grazing board.

Used this place last night fish was lovely,the rest was terrible warmed up chips and peas which we left.Then asked for dessert the cheese board came and was two tiny pieces of unhealthy looking cheese and biscuits which I sent back.Needless to say I will not be returning ..

We went here for a birthday meal, it’s a cute little pub with stunning views at the back. There were 10 of us and the service at the beginning was absolutely brilliant. However, the pub got extremely busy and there were only two staff members to manage it, so the service dropped drastically which ended up leaving us disappointed. If the owners put more staff on, I would have nothing but good things to say.

Such a lovely pub/restaurant and the staff are so friendly here. Very clean throughout and loved the decor and the views from our table. The food was delicious too! Couldn’t fault a thing.

Called for a couple of drinks after seeing and hearing the hype of the amazing view. TBH I was a bit deflated as I felt like I was in someone's back garden with houses all around, the view is there if stand on top toes. Walk with drinks in glasses is a trek from bar but believe there is a garden bar, toilets and possibly BBQ, but wasn't open when we called. Restaurant looked very nice but didn't eat. Car park very small. Polite staff with average pricing.

Went to East Lancashire Railway and decided to book here and make a night of it. Great pub with great food and fantastic service, nothing was too much for them and the rooms are lovely and the breakfast was one of the best I've had in a while. While it may only be small it's cosy and worth a visit for food and drink or an overnight stay.

Brought my mum for her birthday, food was amazing and our waiter Lewis was great, so helpful and helped make the day special. Highly recommend it 👌

Quite exceptional in so many ways They take their whole business seriously, from the venue, greeting, the food and its mission to help youngsters into catering. The location is lovely, looking over a valley. The restaurant is to the side of a very busy popular pub. Nice varied menu, but on the specials were some exceptional dishes. I started with the smoked duck and Rhubarb, an exceptional and unusual combination that was superb. My main was a beef cheeks plate of perfection. My dessert was a beautifully presented chocolate fondant with ice cream. The food is not only perfectly cooked and flavoured but also presented to impress. My partner was hugely impressed with her food too. Everything about the venue shouts attention to detail. Staff are young and very attentive but absolutely not intrusive. Got to meet a delightful, passionate chef clearly committed to his work. Toilets clean and well presented. I am no stranger to restaurants, visiting 3 michelin star venues to cafes this was quite exceptional and really needs visiting.

We had a mid week trip for my birthday! The food was lovely. I had the small fish and chips and a gin and tonic. Others had the corn fed chicken and the Pollock - all food looked amazing! The staff were lovely especially Erin who looked after us. I will definitely be back and would recommend!

Lovely lunch and excellent pint of Black Sheep

We went to celebrate my birthday. Our waiter Lewis was brilliant and also the bartender. We both had herb encrusted pollock with mini fish pies and it was some of he best food I'd ever tasted. Although we hadn't said it was a birthday celebration our waiter had overheard us talking and arranged lovely chocolate brownies. I have been here several times and would highly recommend it x

THE most amazing roast I’ve ever eaten, every time it’s been so delicious and the staff are always so lovely. One of our favourite places in Ramsbottom to go for food, couldn’t recommend it enough!!!

I came here for mother's day lunch. The food was exquisite. Each course was delicious and presented beautifully. The attention to our needs was faultless. We were never kept waiting during what was a busy service. 100% worth a revisit.

The Eagle is a lovely venue with excellent and attentive staff. The food is far superior to gastropub style eating, offering a wide ranging and innovative menu with a fabulous selection of specials. Great atmosphere, very relaxed. Will definitely be going back.

Had heard so much good about this place so we thought we would try it. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement, the size of the potions is ridiculously small and left you feeling hungry it tries to be a fine dinner experience and fails. The food was tasteless and unbalanced. What was even worse was the service we watched tables around us who arrived later getting service before us in fact one table where on their second course. The menu was given for dessert after twenty minutes we had to call over a waitress to take the order. Which on arrival was overdone. If you require a better experience the little extra journey time the Duck worth Arms is a better venue

I visited the Eagle and Child with my parents for dinner, the food we all had was beautiful, I had the pie and I couldn't finish it as was so hearty, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming as were all the staff we encountered, we are regulars at The Eagle and Child and have visited on the steak and frites nights which is such good value, I cannot recommend this venue enough for dining, atmosphere and the staff.

Lovely place with lovely food. Bit of confusion booking in but still got a table. Our server Louis was so helpful, had lots of knowledge about the food and couldn’t do enough.

Friends of my parents ran this pub 1975 to 1977 and we used to cross the Pennines and visit. I was only 6 to 8 years old but have vivid memories of these visits. So it was lovely to visit 47 years after my last visit. Back then, the pub overlooked a field and the new motorway which wasn't yet completed. The pub is totally different to how I remember it with the bar on the other side and the old games room with its dartboard long gone! It's beautifully done out. Outside there's a bar begging for warm summer evenings and there's even a teepee!! The staff were welcoming and my pint hit the spot. An enjoyable visit.

We call here on a regular basis and have always have excellent service and food. The waiter is superb. We will definitely be back and hope to stay over one night.

I stayed here due to a work meeting, I was very impressed with the size of the rooms and the food was great. The only slight down side was the breakfast baskets, I would prefer to choose what I would have for breakfast.
