Not much different from when it was Yates

Excellent staff very polite popped in for a few cheeky afternoon pints not being local found the place to be very approachable and some of the regulars funny

All done up with cheap prices and caring staff, loads of tvs showing all the sports with a cracking atmosphere no other words nesseary.

Lovely and clean, friendly staff and great selection of drinks. Good place to visit.

Nicely refurbished, staff more interested in chatting to each other or finishing their J2O than been polite and looking at the customer that are serving, rude. Floor still as sticky as when it was Yates.

visited this pub on the 1st of February am English myself but live in Scotland and was down visiting family so coming from Scotland i only had Scottish currency i made an order and went to pay with a Scottish note which the so called acting manager not only point blank refused to accept it he told me that the note i gave him was a fake just by holding it without checking it to see if it was a fake or not which was very humiliating and embarrassing as there were other patrons whom could see and hear this i will never go near this establishment ever again and would happily advise others from especially from Scotland to avoid the time and embarrassment i have spoke to the brewery stone gate whom were not happy and have reported it to the area manager and am awaiting their response ......

It's not the clientele that make the pub, it's the weed that's getting grown upstairs that makes the place chilled 🤫 as a former publican in the area with an ear to the ground, I suggest my allegations are fully investigated before other authorities are informed. Yours thankfully, big dave

I can’t even stress enough how run down and neglected this YATES is.You walk in, and instantly feel like you should leave- there is a natural look of dirty, broken and run down furnishings inside the pub.Yates Bury has previously had a great reputation- always attracted many local people for the food and drinks offering, but I have no idea what has changed- but this specific site now looks neglected and run down.Probably, the WORST yates I have been in after recently visiting- I’m not blaming the staff of this site, I think head office have neglected the site and allowed it to turn into this mess.Refurbishment and deep clean is needed.

Walked in to a very strong overpowering smell of nasty cheap disinfectant. Toilets were bleak the whole pub was scruffy & run down needs a massive clean & refurbishment. The bar person was friendly.

One place i will avoid. I order a round of drinks (4 drinks) at 22:20 and then was told the pub was shutting at 22:30 even tho the pub still had approx 30-40 paying customers. I had a word with manager (Charlotte bordem) and her reply was we shut at managers discretion?.... So you take my money then kick us out 10minutes later. My take on this, is that it's disgusting and very unprofessional to have manager/s treat customers this way, all because he/she wants to go home early.

Great staff behind bar. Thursday's are £1.50 a drink. Gets busy but there are enough staff to cope. Love drinking in here. Keep up the good work 😀

It's local, it's cheap, everyone is friendly and the bar staff always give my little brother a cup of sweets when we come in. Smoking area has good seating and its so close to the bus and tram stops, therefore very accessible.

13 of us visited on Sunday for a meal and we could not believe the welcome, the service and the value for money. Staff are efficient and bubbly and in this pub, they care about their customers. Thankyou for making a family reunion a special occasion. Would highly recommend

Went in sat down to be told after 6pm no under 18s allowed. I asked was this a new rule she said well whilst I’ve worked here. Well we have been before no issues after 6pm. Bit bad when they serve meals I feel..

The scampi & the bacon & cheese burger Were great, tasty, hot & well presented. The Amstel lager OK, could have been colder. The tables were filthy & full of dirty pots & glasses. Some of the regulars could do with being asked to leave as some of the language would was more than offensive. The staff appeared to have given up, maybe it was a bad day. they didn't have a smile between them & appeared to want to be elsewhere. I should have gone myself. The Ladies toilet had glass all over the floor & were pretty grimy.

Similar to a spoons. Cheap and way too quick. Most likely is all microwaved. Steak quality wasn't the best, but it was cheap so can't really complain that much.

Went with the gf for a breakfast, after waiting half an hour drinking our flat cokes trying to distract ourselves from the stench of the locals drinking at 11am in the morning our food arrived, the toast was not toasted at all , sausages were over cooked, soggy hash browns, runny white eggs and a single folk full of beans on the plate. Wouldn’t feed the stuff they served to a dog.

I popped in starving after football because I had a drink voucher for this place and decided to eat as well. Very impressed with how clean and tidy the place was however another patron reeked of cannabis. Loads of tv screens and music playing. Hunter's chicken on chips was a large plate for a fiver, quite deep with food, a good thick cheesy sauce and sweet bbq sauce were slathered on top of chicken pieces, bacon and plenty of chips. It was hot and well cooked. No complaints with service, food, price or environment. Meant to be a sharer but I ate the lot myself and was stuffed.

Thought we would call for a drink and something to eat but two woman started an argument and were running around the pub shouting and swearing Three staff behind the bar did nothing about it and were just laughing PLace was not very clean either

Yates has great staff. Friendly and attentive with good fast service. The place could do with a good deep clean and perhaps some fresh deco as well. Also I think the staff should all wear a uniform to make it easy to be spotted who staff and who customers.. i also think that there should be more offers on at weekend to again customers in. I find the staff on the Sunday night's just want to go home. I have also noticed a lots of new staff with in this business..i think Leigh is training up a new lad called dayne he has exllent customer service skills and is not shy

Fuimos en el mercado aquí después de visitar un viernes en Bury Mayo. El pescado y patatas fritas eran preciosas. Muy buena relación calidad precio y un ambiente muy agradable.

Yates tiene un gran personal. Amable y atento con un buen servicio rápido. El lugar con una buena limpieza profunda y tal vez algunos deco también.

Un niño gratis decidimos disfrutar de un poco de terapia de compras en la fiesta del lunes.

Visted here on a Saturday with my two daughters and although the pub was very busy the staff were very attentive and friendly. I ordered the cheese and bacon burger which was lovely and a very generous portion for the price of it the children's meals were also very reasonably priced. Every time I vist I enjoy the food will be back soon.

Cheap and nasty. A drinkers paradise! Little more can be said. Stark surroundings, noisy,good atmosphere for the regulars, a good place to meet and move on!

Called in here after shopping ducking out of the rain and glad we did . Lovely pub very friendly staff excellent value for money we had the two for £7.45 meal deal I had cheese and bacon burger my partner had scampi and we shared half and half it was lovely no complaints from us and we even decided to stay for pudding which is a rarity for us and again not disappointed. We will be calling again when in the area . Ps nice relaxing music

on a shopping trip today visited this pub for a spot of lunch, they had a special offer on for Wednesdays, a burger and chips for £3.45 so my friend and I thought that's good value, on the photo of the meal was a nice big burner with salad and chips. Have to say the service was very quick and the staff very friendly, but when the burger came the first thing we noticed was the only salad on it was lettuce, but that was fine, but when we tried to eat it, the burger was burnt, tasteless, the meal wasn't hot, so it was hardly touched, and we would have left but had ordered and paid for a sweet, salted caramel and chocolate cake, with ice cream and caramel sauce, well that came, looked ok, but no caramel sauce, so went to the bar and asked the girl if we could have some caramel sauce and off she went to get some, but she came back to us and apologised cause they had run out of caramel sauce, that said the sweet was ok, to be fair we could have just picked the wrong thing off the menu, but a burnt burger is a burnt burger, needless to say we would not go back there again x

After a busy couple of hours shopping decided we needed a break.We had lunch which was served quite quickly and was great. I had chicken tikka flatbread. My husband had fish and chips - meal choice of the day. Both meals tasty and good value for money.

Went for lunch today following an enjoyable time there the last time we visted Bury. I have to say I don't think we will return. The food was late coming and when it did the gourmet burger was as if it had been microwaved forever... no relish on it..dry as a bone. More worryingly my sisters mac and cheese came with pieces of white hard plastic in it(as if broken off a plastic container)!!! I told a member of staff ,as a child could choke on this but he just said he'd deal with it and strolled back behind the bar!!! No sign of an apology. I have only given 2 stars as my Mum enjoyed her scampi and the lady behind the bar was pleasant and brought out our food straight out when I said it hadn't arrived. No cutlery though..To try and end on a positive. .. The Halloween Dec's were great...

walked in and it looked fine. saw that the toilets were upstairs and walk towards the staircase. the nearer we got to the stairs the stronger the smell of stale urine grew. Thats when we turned round and left.

Very busy place food lovely nice friendly staff although there were 5of us in our party we were served very well, unfortunately my friend ordered a jacket potato and the kitchen had run out of them, so had to order an alternative, quite puzzling really as we sat down to order around 1pm and the famous Bury market is only just across the street with a masive array of fruit and vegetable shops!!!!!!.

I don't come here often at all, certainly not a regular, but there are two members of bar staff (Alice and Craig) who ALWAYS remember me and exactly what I order and by the time I'm at the bar my glass is on the bar and they're reaching for the red. It's such a lovely gesture to take the time to remember stuff like that but it makes the world of difference and creates a lovely, welcoming atmosphere.The food here has always been lovely and it's a nice night out.

Staff were very cheerful and friendly. Food and drinks both reasonably priced, I ordered the bbq chicken which was delicious. I will be visting again.

I come to yates a lot lately as they have wonderful staff that have good customer service i think this done with the new manager that has taken over this place. Its also good that they bring events in to the branch . Food is also excellent only . Only thing that lets them down when you have to walk though customers smoking at the front door.

We came to Yates for breakfast this morning and all i could think throughout was how i couldn't wait to blast them on TripAdvisor. As i had an appointment nearby we decided to stop for a quick breakfast, and quick it was not. After being pushed in line i finally ordered my meal, the lady was friendly enough but didn't say anything about the queue skipper which i found quite annoying. I ordered three big breakfast's which came with coffee or tea. The wait was long, even for the drinks which were cold by the time they got to our table meaning that they were made and left on the side. And even when the drinks arrived, i was now behind schedule for my interview. I didn't really have high expectations as it was a typical pub breakfast but please.. Hire a chef who can cook! The sausages were rock hard, bacon looked like it had just been slaughtered, the eggs were greasier than unwashed hair. It looked inedible, what made it worse was the lovely view of Bury, with pedestrians spitting, smoking and mothers swearing and hitting their children in the streets. I would never come back here even if I was paid to.

Great place to start your night out. Love their cocktails 2for1 and Denis :) Food is ok, big fan of the curly fries!

went with my husband for a meal on a sunday afternoon,sat down had to change seats as a load of drunks behind us were shouting and arguing behind us.and one of them was threatening to put his mates head through the window.when my husband brought the drinks back there was lipstick on the glass when I returned it to the bar they didn't care.we received our meal eggs we not cooked proper mushrooms were burnt and sausage was rock hard.another couple came in with a child and also were subjected to the swearing and had to change seats also.we drank up and went to Rayners bar which is a very nice bar with no drunks ,just a shame they don't sell food.

If you like your pubs just that little bit run down and the other guests the wrong side of polite and friendly then this is the place for you. Lots of drunken lads about swearing and banging tables so not a pleasant experience overall. The food is ping cuisine at its finest and one to avoid really.

Stinks of piss. Staff are miserable and lifeless. Glass was dirty and beer was flat. Don't waste your time or money.

came here first time with my partner and young kids the meals were of OK standards the pudding i ordered wasn't available so had the fudge cake and ice cream they was a big pice of cake and half a scoop of ice cream disappointment then my daughters wanted the tollet so i took her to the lady's I was shocked they was half of the tollets in there with no seats on them and no tollet rolls you had a hole in the flooring in there also. needs some tlc desperately

First visit to Bury with a friend and in need of some food and drink we found Yates, ordered a bottle of wine and the 2 meal deal at £6.95 - both had the fish and chips which we didn't have to wait too long and our service was even better by the very cheery Jessica. It had been quite busy when we first entered the pub and noticed how quickly Jessica was serving and clearing up, also as we had never been to Bury before we asked Jessica for some info and she was very helpful and you knew she wanted to help, so nice to see friendly staff nowadays as at some places you cant even get a smile off them.

A few days ago my friend and I went for late lunch.The food was lovely and the staff even nicer.the last time I went was 6months ago and the tables were dirty and the food wasn't up to much.I am really pleased we went again as it was a very nice afternoon.Will be going again !!!!!!!

Visited Yates with my family not long ago i was disgusted that they have a lift outside that hasn't worked for 10 yrs or so ,when I complained about it I was told that it was expensive to fix ,a lot of the locals told me they would rather spend money doing up the smokers area than fixing the lift so wheelchairs users can use the versilities, so all in all I was disappointed

Me and my friend went in here yesterday, the food was very nice, ready in ten minutes and cooked and presented very well. Desserts are brilliant. Please do something with the stairs carpet as it smells of urine. Did report this last time in there about 4 weeks ago

Me and my son love coming to Yates.The food is really good . The tall guy called dom was very helpful. Good atmosphere and always clean.

On my call into the pub i was acknowledgr my a member of staff called craig. He was serving other customers and other member of staff just seem to be stood about speaking to each other or sat down with friends instead of serving. Nit very good customer service.... but craig does.

We called at Yates this week for a pre theatre drink. The place was empty and the cosmopolitan cocktail that we shared wasn't brilliant. Spoons aren't exactly under threat in Bury if this is the competition. Staff were pleasant.we shared

Usually go to Wetherspoons but thought we would try here for a change. Both had all day breakfast. Okay but not as good as Wetherspoons; or Morrisons. No atmosphere as not many in

We indulged ourselves with a lie in so breakfast was abandoned. However, shopping makes you peckish and Bury is a nice place to go and visit on a Wednesday; so my wife and I dropped in for refreshment.Food2 meals for £6.95. My wife got the best one-a chicken tikka with rice and naan that she really enjoyed. The curry had a subtle kick!. My BBQ chicken breast was nice, but next time I'll go for the tikka.PricesFor two meals and a Carlsberg lager (£2.05) and a full pint of diet coke without ice (£1.60) the cost was £10.60. Excellent value. I also noticed Stella was £3.30 for a pint-much cheaper that other bars.The premises were clean and the toilets spotless, and whilst the service was slow, this did not bother us as we were in no hurry. The staff were polite and friendly, but you are not going to get an abundance of staff at this time of day/week.We left refreshed and with a good feeling-and we will have no hesitation in making a further visit. Some of these pub chains receive a lot of stick that baffles us- surely it is much better to pay £10/15 for a basic meal that is adequate, as opposed to forking out big money that do not have in the first place?

We called in Yates for a quick drink. Nice friendly atmosphere friendly staff. Good surroundings you can eat here also. We didn't on this occasion but have previously. Good menu & good food.

On Saturday the 25th July 2015, my family and I (5 adults), where out shopping in Bury with our main aim to visit the wonderful Bury market, we decided to have lunch and went into Yates on Market Street. The place was quite full, but not everyone in there where there to dine, we found a table for us all and once we had selected our food two members of my party went to the bar top order our food and drinks. That is where the problem started! Our order was taken in full (drinks and all) and my father returned to the table with his pint of beer, my wife then explained that the waitress would be bringing our drinks over to us, which she did some 10 minutes later! As we sat waiting for our meals which was a while, but due to the amount of people dining we understood that it could take time to arrive. Anyhow after approximately 30mins our waitress arrived at our table to inform us that they had ran out of eggs, we had for the two mixed grills paid an extra £1.50 to upgrade them to large meals that included and extra egg (1 already came with the meal), an extra sausage and onion rings, my father had ordered the ‘All day breakfast’, which also included an egg. She never offered an alternative or the chance of an extra sausage etc in-Lieu of the eggs! Our meals eventually arrived a further 15 minutes afterwards, but without the three portions of peppercorn sauce we had initially ordered, when we mentioned this to our waitress it seemed so much trouble to her as though she did not wish to there! After 15 minutes waiting we once again had to enquire once again about the whereabouts of the our peppercorn sauce, to which our waitress informed us that the chef was making it (I cannot believe that they do not have an amount already prepared for the day), which makes me believe that it was never taken into account when our order was placed.The soft drinks that we had ordered (cola, lemonade) arrived flat and weak!Having said the above, the food was of a reasonable standard all be it small in size, my son’s girlfriend had the Mac & cheese, with the barbecue pulled pork topping, which she said was lovely.At no point throughout our stay did the manager or senior duty manager approach us to offer an apology or a round of complementary drinks, nor where we offered a refund for the missing food items.Overall not a good experience was had by all my party!! So come on Yates get a grip and I hope that you will learn from the above.
