The best restaurants serving British food in North West

What a fabulous meal we enjoyed last evening. Food, drinks, service, music were all first class. We were amazed that they could serve approx 200 people with hot food. Fast service at the bar too, with plenty of friendly bar staff. And we had a lovely 'full english' breakfast in the morning.

Excellent food, lovely ambience the ham,cheese scone,chutney and toms was amazing!!! Lovely staff a real home from home!

Cafe been here for years so must be doing something right. Called in for a coffee and toasted teacake which was fine. Close to bus station.

Passed this place a few times and was looking to have food today, had 2 full English breakfast and tea and two toast ,£19 and well worth the money, bacon and eggs were great, disappointed only two mushrooms but all in all a nice meal.

Called in for breakfast on our family visit to Chester. Great value for money, fast and friendly service. Good menu selection 👌

My wife and I came across this quaint tea shop quite by chance, as it is on the outskirts of the village and laid back from the road behind a small cobbled forecourt.On entering we found it contained eight tables and quite busy for a Saturday afternoon.We ordered coffees and sandwiches which were made to order and absolutely delicious.I shall definitely return and tell my friends about it.Im not certain of the opening hours,so will need to check before I return.I thoroughly recommend it.

Stopped by chance during a circular walk. Good service and made to feel very welcome. The tea and coffee was appreciated as were the spotless WC! Will call again.

Lovely setting in a fabulous old building but falls far short of its potential. Menu choices very traditional/dated, food quality just adequate, coffee poor. Staff (all three of them) oddly lacking in any warmth whatsoever. Not dog-friendly so limited to sitting outdoors, which would be ok if the tables/benches weren’t so dirty, and in some cases rotten. With the summer coming, someone could at least sand them down and do some basic maintenance. Feels a bit like they’d given up.

My wife and I were travelling back to the Midlands from Scotland along the A66, and after two and a half hours of driving, around half-past eight in the morning, we pulled into this café. Now, we’ve done this journey many times, and driven along the A66 countless times, but have never ventured into this eatery before. This was our loss, as the food is excellent – hot and tasty, and also so very reasonably priced, considering that you are in the middle of nowhere (£15 for a small breakfast, a Scottish breakfast, which is very large, two slices of toast and two mugs of tea). We were glad that we had stopped here, and we will definitely be visiting the café again on our journeys along the A66.

Like a lot of food outlets these days, the emphasis seems to be very much on orders received online, to the detriment of customers who actually take the time to turn up in person. The 'service' that I received was basic at best i.e make your selection, pay your money then prepare to be totally ignored for the next 15 minutes. Just a thought ... how different would it be if you were to only pay for your order when you actually received it? The food (when it finally arrived), was mediocre with the fish portion being on the small side for the price tag. Chips were ok but nothing to write home about. Fanciful packaging, which I'm sure adds significantly to the price, doesn't make up for poor value and impersonal service. This outlet could be so much better but it really needs to look hard at its front of house customer service in order to lift that experience.

A really enjoyable afternoon celebrating our Birthdays (mine and the Mrs) with family. The service was great, the food was a delight and the atmosphere and ambience was really good. Thank you to all the team for a warm welcome and a great afternoon.

Amazing food as always, it never disappoints. My favourite place to go for a good beer and great food. Friendly staff and great facilities… you need for nothing more!!!

Good atmosphere! Really nice drinks and the staff were attentive. Drinks were slightly on the expensive side though
