Stainmore Cafe in Eden

Very good place to stop off. Passed it many a time but finally went in yesterday. Friendly staff, quick service, food fresh and well cooked. All amenities toilet showers, dining all spot on and clean as a whistle. A rare ‘no nonsense’ inexpensive cafe that does exactly what it says on the tin with no pointless frills. Thanks.

On route from Workington to Middlesbrough I decided to stop for a brew. The Café was closed, 11am. I thought to use the loo and carry on, but theToilets were full to the brim of sh*t and there was no toilet paper even if I wanted to use it. The basin was full of vomit. This was very disappointing as I've stopped there overnight before and it was good. Not again.

We’ve been in the UK for about 3 weeks, and this has been our favorite breakfast so far. The service was wonderful and the food was excellent. The restaurant is easy to get to, and is quiet, clean, and cozy. Next time we are in the area, we will return.

Called in Friday morning at 09:15 for bit of breakfast,closed,although all information on Internet claimed it would be open at that time,same as week before was closed then,is this place ever open

This Truckstop is great,I’ve stopped here a few times now & I can recommend it to anyone.Food is nice & the staff always seem really friendly 10 out of 10 from me.

Absolutely won't be coming back here again. Waitress was fine, but the so called cook needs lessons in customer service and catering.

Ive just had a large breakfast and it was fantastic, everything was cooked perfectly and a good serving. Cheap for what i got which is another bonus Only problem is ...... i pass by quite a bit so will be a regular very soon.

Called in here while staying locally on our way to barnard castle .I had the mega breakfast which came with toast and a coffee which cost £6 absolute bargain, because the food was lovely well cooked and gd quality . My g/f whose not a fry up fan really enjoyed hers too .The place was very clean and the toilets spotless .Would deffo eat here again .

Uno o dos años desde la última vez que mi esposa, su hermana y yo estuvimos aquí, aunque lo hemos estado muchas veces a lo largo de los años. Gran variedad de desayunos: mega desayuno, desayuno abundante o desayuno pequeño, además de muchas otras opciones. Elegí el desayuno pequeño que no es tan pequeño. Excelente relación calidad-precio y personal muy amable y servicial.

Finalmente tuve la oportunidad de llamar, y me alegro mucho de haberlo hecho. La horrible mañana húmeda de enero se iluminó con un brillante desayuno.Gran bienvenida, incluso me abrieron la puerta un poco temprano cuando me vieron entrar al estacionamiento.Enorme desayuno, preparado a pedido, todo bien.Gran variedad de menú, instalaciones muy limpias.Excelente valor

Después de leer todas las críticas en el Stainmore Cafe, decidimos que era hora de visitar y ver por nosotros mismos.Es un transporte. Cafetería que sirve excelente comida y servicio rápido. Está impecablemente limpio y está a cargo de un caballero muy agradable que toma sus órdenes.La comida se entrega muy rápidamente y es de excelente calidad. Paré aquí con mi hijo en camino a Newcastle el mes pasado para ver el Toon. He estado en Stainmore Cafe antes, y siempre tomo el desayuno escocés, que tiene una excelente relación calidad-precio en 5. 50 y es muy recomendable. Sin embargo, el menú también está lleno de otras comidas tentadoras.

Cath cocinó, el servicio fue fantástico, la cafetería está limpia y ordenada si tienes un asiento en la ventana, la vista es fantástica y ahora volvemos al desayuno 2 huevos 2 tocino 2 salchicha 2 papitas fritas setas de tomate frijoles pan frito y tostadas No pude encontrar ningún defecto, así que gracias al personal y volveremos. gracias Andrew y Jacky

Percorrendo la A66, ci siamo fermati per in questo locale per una pausa pranzo. Il café Staimnore è frequentato molto da camionisti e propone un menu con scelte limitate ma buone. I piatti del giorno sono scritti su una lavagna e, fatta l'ordinazione dopo aver chiesto alcune spiegazioni ad una gentile cameriera, ci accomodiamo al tavolo. Siamo chiamati dalla cameriera e ritiriamo i piatti di persona. Abbiamo consumato prosciutto al forno con patate fritte e uova al tegamino, crocchette di scampi con fagioli e patate fritte. Porzioni abbondanti e onesto il prezzo pagato.

Llegué aquí poco después de las 7:00 horas, no he estado aquí por 50 años, pedí 2 desayunos grandes y 1 pequeño, vino con tostadas de café, comida de gran calidad a un precio excelente, algunas cosas en la vida no cambian, fue calidad 50 Hace años, días felices, recomiendo este café si estás en la A 66, mi única queja es por qué he pasado tan seguido como un muppet, no volveré a pasar, entras Disfruta de la comida y el servicio al cliente.

Conducir a casa con 46 niños en edad escolar primaria para encontrar el camino a casa fue cerrado. Nos detuvimos y preguntamos si podíamos llevar a los niños a usar los baños, no hubo problema, dijeron. ¡En este punto ni siquiera habíamos hecho una compra! Compramos bebidas para 5 adultos y nos fuimos sintiendo muy agradecidos. Definitivamente regresaré de nuevo (¿sin los niños?) Cuando viajemos al Distrito de los Lagos en junio.

All ways a treat to stop here for many lorry drivers and general travelling folks too. Clean and tidy. Just what you need and take a look at the views too

On way back from Scotland. Fancied a bite to eat. And got myself an amazing brekky at 6:30 pm. All day one. Food is lovely. Staff are more than helpful Would recommend to everyone

Called in for breakfast with my better half. Ordered a Mega breakfast and a Scottish breakfast came quickly and all fresh food. Good price and very friendly service. Will defo call again!!!

Cant review as it wasent open so much for 7 days a week arrived 8.15 Sunday morning to find it shut please alter the website if your not going to be open

Always stop here if we need to travel to the north east. A great choice of food at a great price. Never had a bad meal, kids always leave a clean plate, what more could you need from a roadside cafe.

Great service and cheap food in plenty. It's a favourite stop off for truckers and they're the connoisseurs of the cheap eatery so you know you get best value when the parking's full of 40 footers (and over). Easy to get to from the Eastbound carriageway but needs a little planning and plenty of signalling to get to it from the Westbound one. It's clean and welcoming with wholesome food using local produce.

The cafe is located on a very desolate stretch of motorway so it was a welcoming stopping point on a long journey to the Lake District. The cafe was welcoming and had the usual breakfast options. It was very cheap and cheerful and the food, for the prices, was excellent and represented really good value. The whole place was very clean including the toilets. I would happily call in again when in the area. Recommended.

Called here a couple of times on way to/from Scotland. Basic food, well cooked, decent helpings and cheerful staff. Proper mug of tea and bread and butter with sausage, egg and chips, £4.60. What's not to like? If you want elegant, Cordon Bleu fine dining, this is not for you but if you want to get away from the generic burger/chicken joints you won't go far wrong here. Will definitely call again.

Called in today for a quick bite to eat. The service was fantastic. We each had a breakfast which was both filling and enjoyable. Great value for money. Well done to the staff. The views are also amazing.

I've passed here for decades & since it reopened about 14 years ago I keep promising myself to drop in. Anyhow I finally dropped in & wished I hadn't cos every time I pass now I'll have to call in for the full monty! :D

Broke down yesterday on A66 and was recovered by the traffic management guys to this cafe. I was alone and waiting on the RAC. Had to wait for around 5 hours. I was looked after so well and we had a laugh too. Closing time was 10 pm and I was still inside at 11.15pm. It would have been a very different experience for me if not for kind people like the ones I found here yesterday. Thank you so much guys. Wish I had felt more like eating!

Nos detuvimos en el Stainmore para el almuerzo en nuestro camino de regreso desde los lagos. Aunque sólo había 3 clientes, teníamos que esperar mucho tiempo para coger la atención de alguien a pedido y ser servido. La mayoría de las mesas no estaban muy limpias y el uno nos sentamos en necesitaba una buena toallita. Pedimos una mesa para ser limpiado y fueron entregados un paño con las palabras: "Ya ves, amor". . La comida era adecuada aunque bastante seco. Ni recomendado - no ir de nuevo!

Not a bad look back in time of past days of transport cafes, lovely fresh home cooked food, could do with more of a veg range other than chips or the rare mash, Lorne sausage is nice along with the potato cakes, I recommend "corned beef egg chips and beans tea and two slices £5:50 could do with wifi, and card payment to be perfect

Desde fuera parece un café de transporte pero en el interior destartalado es limpio y ofrece muy buena comida, especialmente el desayuno favorita camioneros día' que es una excelente relación calidad-precio. Fácil de llegar justo a la salida de la A66. Muy recomendable, incluso si no están en la profesión de transporte.

On the way home from Kendal to Gateshead, we'd had a late breakfast and kind of missed lunch but were desperate for a cuppa. Didn't want a pub, and it was only when we got close to the cafe (which is in the middle of nowhere) that we could read that it was a cafe. Expansive menu of basic truck stop food, we went for a main meal of fish fingers, chips and peas for £4.20, including a mug of tea and two slices of bread and butter. Friendly lady on the counter, clean toilets and freshly cooked food. Excellent value for money and a welcome break.

Recientemente Viaje en vacaciones que necesitábamos un descanso de comida. WC Decidimos parar en el siguiente vemos. Encontré este pequeño lugar. Fuimos, las chicas eran muy amable y tenía una selección decente para comer en muy inteligentemente escribió tablas de tiza. Los precios me parecen muy razonables. Pedimos nuestra comida y fuimos y nos sentamos. A los 5 minutos o así nuestra comida estaba lista. Sobresaliente chicas, la comida era deliciosa. Buena taza. adecuada El lugar está limpio y ordenado, y vale la pena hacer una parada si viaja de esa manera.

Situado a unos 4 km al este de la a66 en brough stainmore es café. Ofrece un menú típico café transporte inglés. Personal amable. La comida es excelente. Relación calidad-precio genial. Desayunos para todos los gustos. Recomendado.

Excellent food and clean cafe. More of a transport cafe but excellent value for money. It wasn't quite lunch time but my granddaughter wanted just sausage and peas which was no problem at all. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. If you are travelling on A66 towards scotch corner it is well worth stopping.

A great little find on the A66. A no frills transport cafe which serves good food. Large portions and reasonable prices. Spotlessly clean too. Also a terrific view from the car park on a bright sunny morning! I'll be back for more soon :-)

Basically a truck drivers rest stop but don't let that put you off: Plain and simple, no frills, clean and with good, freshly prepared food and stunning views. Value for money, child friendly and good grub: what more could you ask for?

Called this morning on route to Scotland. The service was good and very friendly, we only had the small breakfast but found it was ample for us. It's worth the stop for the view from the car park.

4 of us called at the Stainmore Cafe today (25th April 2015) it is as it has always been, a transport cafe. The food is basic but good. plenty of parking spaces. toilets were clean and tidy. We all had something different but were served quickly, the staff were friendly, and the cafe was fairly busy. It must be good it had a couple of police officers enjoying there services too. It's not our first visit and we will call again next time we are passing.

When I am visiting my family in the local area, I always make an effort to visit the Stainmore Cafe on the A66. The Stainmore Cafe is basically a truckers cafe but they also are happy to see motorists and families too. Its what some people would call, "a greasy spoon". They do mainly fried breakfasts etc but in this case - without the grease. You order your food but be aware they do not take cards, it is all cash and there is no cash machine on site.There is plenty of parking for cars which is away from the truck park so there is very little danger of your vehicle being damaged by moving trucks.There is plenty of seating at site but dont expect anything special as it is only a place for basic eating. Your condiments are on the table you sit at - you choose which table you want/is available. When you food is ready dont expect waitress service as its shouted out and you have to pick it up from the counter where you have paid. It is also expected than when you are all done and ready to leave that you take your empty plates etc back to the counter.This sort of arrangement and the food provided will not appeal for everyone, however if your looking for just a mug of coffee or a sandwich or even a mega breakfast then this is just the place for you.
