Townhead Chippy in Eden

Comimos pastel de queso y cebolla con papas fritas y un pastel de carne con papas fritas, una olla de guisantes y salsa. Llegó a 14, que parecía un poco empinado, sin embargo, ¡eran posiblemente las mejores tartas que hemos tenido de un chippy! El queso era un pastel individual con un delicioso pastel de mantequilla y el relleno perfecto. El bistec era una porción de una tarta grande, de nuevo pastelería perfecta y carga un relleno de bistec perfectamente cocinado. También obtuve un montón de papas fritas y también dieron en el clavo, al igual que los guisantes y la salsa. Vale la pena el dinero extra y definitivamente volvería si estamos en la zona.

Townhead Chippy es nuestro chippy favorito en Penrith con diferencia. La calidad de la comida siempre es muy buena y los tamaños de las porciones siempre tienen una excelente relación calidad-precio. ¡Nunca he tenido un mal té de aquí todavía! ¡Sigan con el buen trabajo!

We used to be regulars for over 10 years and it used to be the best chippy in town. Over the past two years, however, it's been going down hill, so just been getting our chippy tea from there on an ad hoc basis - mainly disappointed and after tonight we won't bother trying anymore. Curry sauce was awful, chips were rock hard, fish dry and batter chewy. Also the time before last I was sadly deceived by one of the lads - he said they only had large fish (I was asking for medium), so with no other choice - large I ordered - only to discover upon opening the box that he gave me 2(!) small fish - which he failed to offer as an alternative!! I felt robbed as would've preferred one small fish. It's a great shame, years ago we could not fault them, it's really sad!

Paré a tomar el té. . . pastel y papas fritas y curry y papas fritas. . . el gasto total fue de 10. 50 Buena comida, servicio amable pero precios grandes y porciones relativamente pequeñas. Un producto de calidad (especialmente los pasteles caseros) pero que todavía tiene hambre.

¡Qué decepción, 20 DESPERDICIOS en lo que sabía a chips de ayer! ¡Ciertamente no estaban frescos! ! Cenas en la papelera y no volveremos.

Beware, very expensive. For just one sausage and chips = £5-35. I call that well over priced. The portion of chips was average in size and quality and they were £2-40. Lord knows what a smaller portion is like ! The long hard Cumberland sausage was large at £2-95 but I didn't want such a large one, but its all they had. I won't be returning. I just think its wrong we have now reached the stage of over a fiver for sausage & chips. It is the price I would expect to pay for Cod & chips. Down in London maybe, but not Penrith. There are more reasonable places and I will try them in time, when in the Penrith area.

We got fish and chips one night and I can’t fault them. The fish was a great size and the chips were lovely and fluffy. Really great and a cracking price. Would definitely recommend.

Best food, great service, best one around by far. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Chips are very consistent and there's always a good selection

Wonderful fish and crunchy batter and not oily at all - delicious and good value too Situated on the A6 as you come out of Penrith travelling north, park on street and nip in, service is always fast and friendly

Having had a long day there’s nothing easier than a take away, I ordered a large fish and chips with peas which was more than enough for me! Little brother had chips cheese and gravy and to my surprise ate it all (fussy eater). Defiantly the best chip shop in town and the staff only made the experience that much better with fast and efficient service!

Great food and very friendly staff who are up for a laugh. Prices are also great. Highly recommend to anyone local or visiting penrith!

Always clean, always delicious and always great fun. I have known this excellent Chippie for 30 years which is a good statistical basis for a review. One of the best ways to work out a good consistent chip shop is to watch where local people go and even queue for their suppers. This Chippie is one of those and has been for many years even though it has changed hands a few times. Service and staff are invariably good fun and you can rely on a good craic if that is your thing. I like a place that keeps its cooking oils clean and fresh, sources only sustainably resourced fish and local meat. Townhead does this at very fair prices. Park opposite and cross to this tiny terraced cottage and get a taste of proper Penrith. Probably one of the UK’s best chip shops.

Batter on fish should be light and crispy. tonight my fish was covered in soggy/limp batter no crispness at all with a thick layer of uncooked batter between the outer cooked layer and the fish. It can't be too difficult to correct this; less batter? hotter fat? more cooking time? Surely the guy operating the fryer can see how unappetising it is, assuming he cares of course!

Once over ..i would not have a bad word said about this chippy...BUT the last three times i have been...i have received crisps for chips and a fish so dry..its past a joke. they have certainly gone down hill as far as i'm concerned.. too be honest...that was my last time. from now on ANGEL LANE CHIPPY will be the one for me.

Stopped on way home for fish suppers - when we got them home they were distinctly average, chips and batter a bit soggy and fairly tasteless. Would have taken them back except it is a 16 mile round trip. Very poor compared to last time - will be a while before we try again.

Lovely fish and chips mushy peas. Nice pleasent staff. Good selection of food on offer. Would recommend it to anyone calling into Penrith on holiday.

Chips are the best in town. Cumberland Sausage worth a try. Staff very helpful and service good. Highly recomended.

I visited Town Head Chippy and purchased a large portion of chips as I was very hungry. I would describe this as a childs portion and although they were nice, I am dissapointed with the value and miss representation of portion size.

Always visit this chip shop and recommend it to people but not anymore. Called in there this evening and was so disappointed.Apparently in has been taken over since my last visit and it showed. The fish was so soggy and small! The chip were all little pieces and mushy. I do realise that they are probably using new potatoes but they were not up to their previous standard. The staff were curt to say the least and the whole atmosphere has changed. Such a shame!

Had fish and chips for family - large portions, beautifully cooked and very tasty. One tip - order ahead by phone and avoid a queue - I did and was served immediately upon arriving. Best chippy for miles.

Que cielo, trató de todos las tiendas chip en Penrith, este tiene que ser el mejor, de lejos. Patatas fritas son siempre perfectamente cocida, pescado y salchichas también están bien. Siempre parece estar ocupado, lo que para mí es una buena señal. Felizmente puesto en una cola y esperar y conseguir buena comida!

After going to this chippy for a couple of years it has now become the worse chippy I have ever been in the chips were poor all hard and the fish well the batter was rock hard you could not bite in to it in fact they should give a free hammer to get to the fish if you can call it fish I was left with a lump of hard batter and about 3inch of grey coloured fish never again will I buy from this chippy as for it being award winning god knows how that happened

Our preferred chippy in town, always enjoy our fish suppers from here. Enjoy the queue adds to the anticipation. My favourite is the sausage and chips with plenty of salt & vinegar. Bang on :-)

Best chips cheese and gravy in town. Always nice friendly staff. Best tip for this chippy is to call your order in first. You sometimes have to wait however that's what's happens when people are busy because there good.

Its always busy and the chips I would guess are the reason why in my opinion best in town!!! Best to go for opening to avoid the queue :-)

Not sure if we called at the wrong time but we had to wait more than 15minutes for our order and there was only one person in front of us. Chips were a little soggy and Cumberland sausage under cooked for my liking.

Tonight we called for our pie and chips. The staff were uninterested, the pie was unappetising and dry, the chips, not up to standard. This is such a shame as it was the best in town

Estaba en Penrith en una parada de una noche, no haber comido todo el día estaba con ganas de salchichas y patatas fritas. No me decepcionó, probablemente la mejor salchichas y patatas fritas que he tenido. Patatas fritas recién preparado, sabor encantadora de patatas, crujiente y simplemente fabuloso. Sin duda volveremos en algún momento.

Following a full days riding,fish and chips was just what we needed,the chips were as good as I've ever had while the batter on the fish was excellent and the fish it's self was pure white and extremely tasty

It's nearly always busy that's probably down to them having really good chips!!!!Had the fish before and I think the batters just to greasy wasn't keen on the Cumberland sausage either but can't fault their chips!

Very nice fish and chips would give 5 but although really nice you can't beat them on the coast with paper thin batter

Sounds very petty but every chippy iv been to up and down the country and Penrith especially Townhead are so stingy with items

Lovely staff and great fish and chips. Can be lots of people on Friday nights getting their Teas! Lots of choices and my family love their tray pies, steak and kidney or mince.

Was recommended so went here to get our lunch. Chips were lovely and fresh, the fish fried to perfection, and my young son loved his sausage. Very tasty. One of the best fish and chip shops in Penrith, and well worth the extra effort to get there.

at this moment the best chippy in Penrith by my reccondmendationthe fish is really quite succulent with a crisp batter and there home made pies are the best in town, it is located on the A6 as you head north out of Penrith with parking opposite.

For the odd treat we all pop to the "Chippy" well I suggest this Fish & Chip shop. Clean, great Staff, fresh well cooked food. In the six months I've lived in Penrith I've been once a month, so consistency and good value can be added to its accolades. Highly recommended.

Have visited here since I was introduced to it over 20 years ago and it rarely disappoints. The food is excellent.

We were hungry and en route to Scotland - saw it and are we happy we did!Yes its not the cheapest chippy around... BUT they don't so the norm... they sell tray pies and I was lucky to have their steak... the meat melted in the mouth... and as for the chips... they cannot be the healthiest as they tasted too good...Glad we have found it... it beast the usual fast food outlets into a cocked hat!
