The best restaurants serving British food in North West

Visited here on a wet & windy December day, after our original choice turned out to be closed. A blessing in disguise, you could say. With no one else present, we did have initial reservations, but these soon disappeared with the friendly staff welcome. Food was fresh and tasty, even accommodating our off menu requests. Then there was the coffee, forget your “hearts” on the top, they do bunnies 🐰

Fuimos a probar el almuerzo del domingo. Un servicio muy amable, pedimos la carne asada y el cordero asado. La comida se sirvió rápidamente y porciones bastante grandes. Un montón de verduras, coliflor, guisantes, zanahoria y nabo que era encantador, relleno, pudín Yorkshire, asados y salsa. Todo salió caliente. La comida era muy agradable. 2 copas de vino tinto y 2 cenas asadas llegaron a unos 30 £, lo que me pareció un gran punto de precio

Delicious home made vegetarian food in a lovely setting. Highly recommended. Very reasonably priced.

We stayed overnight as we were going to a wedding. Lovely clean rooms. Staff were amazing. So friendly and helpful from arriving to us leaving.

Absolutly spot on,me the wife and daughter had the fish,chips gravy,bread and butter,can of pop,£5-50 bargain !!!! On Saturday, I visited your establishment and ordered a coffee. To my surprise, the waitress informed me that the maximum amount of time I could remain at the table, having only ordered a drink, was 30 minutes. I was taken aback by this policy and sought clarification. When I inquired about the time allowance for customers ordering food, I was told that in such cases, patrons are permitted to stay for up to an hour and a half. Frankly, I find this policy to be both unreasonable and discriminatory. It appears to place value on customers based solely on their level of expenditure, which I believe is unjust. If this is not an example of discriminatory treatment based on spending, then what is it?

We can honestly say the sandwiches were by far the worst we have ever had! It was a cold wet day and the egg sandwiches were so cold that the lettuce was frozen in the middle. I took them back to the counter and was offered an exchange. The tuna and sweetcorn sandwiches were so soggy they had almost disintegrated. I don't understand why they couldn't make them fresh to order - there seemed to be enough staff standing around! Never again!

Had an awesome stay here. The caravan was lovely and clean and comfortable. The site was peaceful and located so that you can go and visit places near by. The other people who where there were lovely and friendly. The staff are amazing. So friendly and fun and helpful, they take an interest you and make you feel welcome and happy to be there. The food is amazing .great amount for a great price we had breakfast and dinner nearly every day , they accommodated our allergies and needs. Was sad to say goodbye to them. Fully recommend going here

We arrived early but were seated straightaway. We were offered drinks and the menu. We ate from the 2 courses menu for £26. Starters were crab donuts (a little fishy tasting if you know what I mean) and brisket croquettes were quite tasty. Mains was steak and frittes and sea bream with crushed potatoes and park Choi. However the pak choi was very over cooked and limp and not drained properly so spoilt the goats cheese veloute , making it very watery. Deserts were strawberry crème brûlée - highlight of the meal and passion fruit tart. All dishes beautifully presented and service very good.

Absolutely shocking service waited 40 mins for food.when it came rock hard burnt.it wasn't even busy .staff was not clearing tables .there was a old couple sat at a table with pots from previous customers for about 20 mins while staff was just chatting with friends on there phones. Breakfast was good but service was shocking .

Visited for reserved evening meal. Eventually shown to our table but the premises were extremely cold. We sat down and ordered drinks which started to arrive. On noticing other clients they were seated with their coats on eating. I appreciate the present fuel crisis but I refuse to pay for a meal and sit with my coat on. We left.

Lovely food and even better staff and a lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend for anyone going past.

This pub has recently had a facelift, and boy does it show. It looks fantastic. The staff are very welcoming, I didn’t have an alcoholic drink but other customers seemed happy with their drinks. The food holy smokes the food was amazing, very well presented and tasted brilliantly. Overall very successful visit. I know the new landlady so I’ll be back multiple times! Good job folks

Reopened 4th September, been on a few occasions and every time we was made to feel very welcome, the pub is run by a very friendly family, excellent service given

My wife and I popped in for a light lunch. Ordered a cheese panini and tuna melt , when they eventually came they were basic in presentation, a little salad on the side would have looked more appealing . My main complaint is the place is a mess ,the floor was dirty with crumbs and goodness knows what else, the food prep area was a mess , the waitress was either on her phone or eating her lunch out of a plastic container in full view of customers,very unprofessional. The toilet was situated at the side of a store cupboard which looked as though boxes and whatever else had just been thrown in there.The toilet itself was disgusting ,the seat was loose and water was leaking from the waste pipe at the back. When I came to wash my hands in the broom cupboard I could not find any towels or a dryer and had to ask for a towel whereupon the waitress tore some paper off the role in the kitchen area and handed it to me. I don’t believe that hygiene is their paramount concern.
