Langs Restaurant in Preston

This restaurant was recommended by a friend and so glad she did, the food was excellent as was the service, beautiful inside too,we had 3 courses couldn't fault a thing, hubby's cheesecake was the best he's had and he's had a few can't wait to return.

We had an overall disappointing experience, especially given this was meant to be a special occasion. From the start, the service felt rushed, and the staff’s attitude was far from accommodating. I had specifically requested a space for a wheelchair user, and when I double-checked this upon arrival, the staff member at reception was condescending, making me feel as though my concern was unnecessary. When we were seated, we were asked if we wanted drinks but were not offered a menu, leaving us to ask for options—which was clearly received as an inconvenience to the staff. Since we had pre-ordered, the same receptionist came to confirm our choices. However, he then proceeded to patronize me regarding my dietary restrictions. As I’m pregnant, I requested my meat well done to avoid any risks, but he lectured me, saying it would ruin the meal. I am fully aware that well-done meat isn’t as flavorful, but my health comes first, and his tone was rude and dismissive. While the food itself was good and everyone enjoyed their meal, the service continued to fall short. When it came time for dessert, we were left waiting for over 20 minutes just to place an order. After finishing our meals, plates sat uncleared for a while, and I had to ask for the bill, which also didn’t arrive promptly despite the restaurant being busy. Then, after finally receiving the bill, we were abruptly asked to move to the bar to make space for another party, even though we were still reviewing the bill and had drinks on the table. When I said we needed a bit more time, we were pressured again just five minutes later. For a restaurant where we had just spent over £500, this felt incredibly rude and unprofessional. For a place that charges premium prices (including £5.20 for a Diet Coke), the service was subpar. The least they could do was allow us to finish our drinks and properly check the bill before being ushered out. We will not be returning

Another delicious Sunday lunch. This is our go to place to eat and take our foodie family and friends. The ample portions of roast beef with all the trimmings, the efficient and friendly staff and the ambience of the restaurant always means an enjoyable experience. Realistically priced too.Look forward to our next visit.

Over priced and underwhelming ! If people like this place then they are easily pleased! Went for a birthday ,we had 4 meals only one of which was satisfactory. Charged extra for a sauce that was already included , disappointing selection of suites. Charged £178 for food which would probably cost £50 to buy in a supermarket.

We have been to Langs since they had a restaurant called Botanic Bistro sufficient to say things ain’t what they used to be food not as good and smaller portions.

Expensive and very average. Ordered seafood linguine and it came covered in a green sauce with no taste at all. Small amount of seafood could hardly see in the vast green pile. Sorbet very gloopy and plate taken before I’d eaten the brandy basket. I couldn’t be bothered to protest. Second time I’ve been but sadly I won’t be returning. I’m just not impressed with this place.

Nice food but was still hungry after eating here. Nice atmosphere and friendly and attentive staff. Wouldn’t come again as we thought the portion sizes weren’t worth what we paid.

This is by far the best restaurant in the area. The food choice and regularly changed menu is without peer. Delightful contemporary yet intimate interior, befits romantic dinner or group dinner. My daughter is having a small wedding reception meal here for 20 or so. Highly recommended by food connoisseur!

A few of us ordered king scallops for starter only to receive three small queen scallops, the main course’s unfortunately were the smallest portions ever. The ones who ordered the duck or beef there was three small slices on each plate. Overall what we did have was nice but a Mac Donald’s was needed on the way home for most.

Lovely atmosphere, efficient staff and really excellent food. Been quite a few times since it reopened and never disappointed.

Gorgeous restaurant with lovely decor. Waitresses lovely and welcoming . Food lovely, though not cooked to the choice we were given. Waiter too abrupt as always which spoilt it.

Suggest that you book to take in the fantastic setting of this popular restaurant. Bar waiting area if early, and then cosy area to dine before opening out into the open dining area or/and the intimate booth type seating. Service was perfect and not rushed ( but you are allocated a time period to allow bookings) good choice of drinks and food menu included the two courses for £25. Great starters of crispy beef and noodles and salmon fish cakes; sea food linguine was really tasty and I had to try out the recently added suet steak pudding as I’d had the best ever from Mr.Thomases Chop House in Manchester to compare? Got to say it was good suet, good meat content and good gravy, and lovely fat chips. So good food, good service and definitely recommend

I can here for a pre-Christmas meal with friends in December. Whilst the food is very good, I agree with some of the previous comments that the service is a little rushed and also I would describe as slightly haughty (that’s the only word I can think of). The prices too are more akin to a luxury country restaurant!!! I must credit the chefs though who work tirelessly behind the scenes to produce lovely and well- presented food, it’s just the final service delivery that is somehow lacking.

Great food , great service and fantastic varied menu. Have been several time and must say it never disappoints .

We’ve been to Lang’s many times since they re-opened. My husband and I recommend it to everyone. The menu changes regularly and everything we’ve had has been delicious. Everything is freshly made and the presentation is superb. My favourite meal so far is the steak pudding. I hope they keep it on the menu.

We went here and it has been recently taken over and had a makeover. We walked in expecting great things as the decor looked so nice. We were sat down for our meal and given menus. We weren’t asked for drinks but there were taken with our food order, which was taken pretty promptly. The starter arrived before the drinks, it was that quick. Then as we put our cutlery down from our starters , our plates were whisked away and within minutes our main course arrived. My boyfriend and I enjoy a couple of glasses of wine with our meal but we were served that quickly and the food came so fast that we hadn’t even finished the 1st glass by the time we had finished our main course! The food was average, presented well but the whole experience was done and dusted in around 45mins and was not shy of £100! For this we expected a longer dining experience and a relaxed atmosphere. Had we not been rushed we would’ve had another drink too but instead we won’t be returning for rushed, average food. Such a shame as the restaurant looks beautiful inside. That’s the reason I’ve given it 2 stars rather than the 1 it really deserves.

We went for the 2 courses for £25. Yes, its Christmas but I dont think anyone should be leaving the table hungry. The dessert was absolutely delightful. The pork was also good, especially the gravy and carrots, the mash was a little dry. Service was excellent, but as I say, we left still hungry

We went to Langs as a family group of 11 people and had a superb afternoon. The staff were lovely, warm, friendly and helpful while the food was well received by everyone. I had blade of beef and creme brulee and have to say it was one of the nicest meals I have eaten in years. Absolutely fabulous food and was so pleased with my choices. Would definitely go back

Had a wonderful dining experience at Langs, there had been a mix up with our on line booking that was dealt with very professionally. We were a party of 6 with 2 late arrivals and were so impressed with the service and how our situation was managed. The food as always was top quality and superb . The Christmas Decorations are beautiful.

I can completely agree with Ava about the food. I was looking forward to returning to Lang’s as I had been there before it became the lounge and had a few lovely meals there. The pictures of the food online look stunning so we booked for the Abba night. ( not cheap at £50 per head and menu reflected that ) New decor is beautiful and the bar area is certainly more welcoming than the Lounge was. Unfortunately our table wasn’t ready when we arrived and we only got seated at 8 not the 7:30 booked. Staff were not as attentive or friendly as I had previously experienced when it was the lounge. As a two we were sat near the draughty fire exit door unable to see most of the entertainment and often by passed for drinks. In fact I had to go and find a member of staff to ask for water. Starters were fine. Looked nice tasted ok. Main course was a slightly overcooked salmon with very undercooked veg. I don’t mind Al dente but these were tough. The sauce was unseasoned and lacked and flavour. A bit of herbs such as dill would have give it the much needed boost. My partner had to e beef. While it was cooked well and flaked perfectly it was without any flavour you might expect from what the say is 5 star. Beef tasted like it in any local pub but at twice the price. This was accompanied with unseasoned mash and a very tasteless sauce too. We weren’t really checked during our meals but we did mention it to our server when she cleared our plates and she said her husband was the head chef and she would mention it. He wasn’t in the kitchen that night he was FOH but made no attempt to speak to us . Our dessert arrived but unfortunately the crème brûlée wasn’t set so I waited quite some time for someone to come over. I was asked if I wanted a replacement but to be honest I just wanted to get out of the draughty place and get warm so we left. I don’t think we missed much as the entertainment was not the best Anna tribute. Won’t be rushing back. Missing The Lounge.

The service was rushed and the table was not very clean, with food on the chairs. The food was very basic and not much flavour. My partner and I got different food, and both felt the same. I was looking forward to coming here as the presentation looks good online. I'm quite a foodie and like to try new restaurants but don't feel I would pay to go again unfortunately, which is a shame.

I was so happy we booked Langs for my birthday we had 2 large tables all beautifully dressed the service was very attentive and everyones meals were were perfect couldnt fault a thing. Thankyou Langs

Been to Langs of Longton this evening and everything was great apart from the chips that were served with my steak, which were undercooked, so I sent them back only to recieve some more chips which were also undercooked so I told the manager and he took them away along with the peas, he came back 5 minutes later and offered me French fries 🍟 or roasted potatoes, the excuse we received was it’s the type of potato, really good excuse considering that our farm has been growing potatoes for over 60 years and in particular for chips, my wife was sat feeling really uncomfortable as the chefs were staring over at us from the pass ! No apologies were received ! But to cut a long story short we ask for the bill only to find that they were charging for the meal, Which I would not pay for, I was then left stood at the counter for 10 minutes whilst they had to phone the owners. I was told that the chips had been cooked in the morning and that they were not undercooked then even though he was not there to try them and used the excuse that it’s the type of potato. I paid our bill with the exception of the steak and was then told that I was a troublemaker and would not be allowed to return 🤬🤬🤬🤬 not that we would after the way we’ve been treated. I hope the restaurant owners see this post and that nobody else experiences this experience, We had been going in this restaurant since it first opened, so they now have no loyalty or respect to there customers,

We have been as a family and just as a couple 6 times since langs reopened and every time the night has been perfect,great service,lovely decor,superb cocktails and totally amazing food! My favourites include the blade of beef,lamb rump and the fish specials of the day.so good so well presented and so tasty.a lot of places can do nice looking food but at langs the taste and textures are always 100%.we can’t wait to return.well done langs you are doing a great job! Oh defo get the cauliflower cheese too!
