Great food and excellent service. Food cooked to order , staff were excellent nothing to much trouble. Before we ordered we were advised , that there may be a slight delay and to larger group had ordered before us. With this in mind our food came quickly .

What a perfect night! Amazing atmosphere, friendly staff!! For starters we shared the chicken liver parfait, I totally forgot about taking a picture because it looked so delicious we tucked straight in and it was delicious!! Mains my husband had the burger which was fantastic, I ordered the steak with sweet potatoes fries and I asked if they could do a cream sauce instead of the peppercorn one which wasn’t a problem! The steak was perfectly cooked and was to die for, melted in the mouth perfection!! For dessert my husband had cheesecake which was lovely and I had the chocolate tart with ended the night perfectly for me!! We would 100% recommend going and sampling their delicious food!! Honestly everything was perfect and nothing was too much trouble!! A****** recommendation from The Abbott’s

Great hotel restaurant . The Cat Iron Grill offers a small but adequate menu. Service can be a little on the slow side. Read the menu carefully as only some dishes come with vegetable others you have to add them on. The quality of the foom is very good but the portion sizes are a little on the small size.

Really pleased the Cast Iron Grill is open again to the public. We visited the restaurant on two nights. The first night the Friday we ordered the Aberdeen black Angus fillet. It is the fillet steak we have had in awhile. Cooked to perfection, medium rare it was not only delicious it was seared and seasoned to give it maximum flavour. It is definitely worth a visit if like us really enjoy quality and flavour in your beef fillet. The second night we had the pan fried chicken with truffle mashed potatoes. Another faultless and tasty dish. To finish we shared the frangipan pie. The shortcuts pastry was fabulous. Thank you to Chef Graham who's cooking was amazing. We will return very soon.

Outstanding beautiful room! Amazing food! They decorated the room beautifully for my wedding, plenty of room for all our families, the decor already in the room was gorgeous, the mirror and fireplace being my favourite area of the room! Would recommend 100% to anyone wanting good food and good atmosphere x

Apparently they were too busy to serve a single hotel guest, and I was sent to the bar... Tough to justify considering that the place has been empty for the post couple of hours.

Whilst staying at the hotel, I thought I should use their signature restaurant and being quite a keen BBQer and lover of meat the menu was quite appealing. I agonised over the rump steak of the rack of pork, eventually going for the pork. It some time to arrive (30mins or so) and on arrival, I know why. I think the two loin chops had been on the grill for that time. Pork does not need to be cooked so much these days but this was like shoe leather; it wasn't edible as it was so dry. To be fair to the staff, they took the meal off my bill and only charged me for the side salad but it wasn't really the point - you have a hotel not near any other dining options (for those without a car) so therefore dining options are limited so food being served has to be reasonable. It says on their menu that their chefs go to the Cast Iron Grill Chef school - Fail for mine tonight.

Party of 9 on a Saturday evening. The food was nice but the service was lacking. Incorrect allergy information provided on menu. Staff didn’t ask if people wanted additional drinks and didn’t take away empty glasses. Items from order were forgotten and some meals were delivered to the wrong table. Service charge automatically added to the bill.

Having had a few hiccups at the Marriott regarding the accommodation which to be fair were sorted it was nice to just book the restaurant and chill. From the minute we got there the service was friendly and professional and the young lady who served our table was lovely. She was friendly and fun and very helpful and food and drinks were all served in a timely manner. The fillet steak was perfect and the smoked salmon fresh and served well. Would definitely recommend this hotel restaurant.

As the restaurant was full we were able to have the full menu in the bar which worked really well. All meals were great particularly the nachos that we chose as a sharing starter for four. Staff were brilliant.

Booked but didn’t need to as there was plenty of spare tables : you could order via an app but we ordered at the bar.Fair choice of drinks but having only one size for sparkling drinks! Bring honest the starters of garlic and cheese bread wax a total let down even for the price! Mains however of Jerk Chicken and another chicken dish was near perfect and value for the price. Some lovely staff were attentive and friendly. Overall decent visit

A busy lunchtime, but despite other reviews the service was very attentive and timely. Lots of choice and variety on the menu...we opted for mackerel and beetroot salad and the salmon and crayfish salad. Both absolutely delicious, very fresh and generous portions. Blackcurrant and lemon posset dessert was to die for! Very good and already looking forward to our next visit!

We visited the Leyland Lion with family and friends we've been a few times before and it's been great sadly on this visit it wasn't.The pub was very busy which is fine as it was a Friday afternoon. We needed a table that seated five but struggled to get one. After a few minutes we manged to find one however the table was still full of empty plates and food.I went to the bar and politely asked a female staff member could someone please come and clear and clean our table. At the time she was tapping away on a tablet I assume sorting out app orders. The look she gave me was awful she didn't even reply just nodded her head in what looked like annoyance that I'd interrupted her or even asked. She did come to clean the table but her face was now like thunder.Me and my wife thanked her and again got no response then all the while we were in the pub spending a lot of money she just scowled in our direction. This won't stop us visiting the pub in the future but staff need to learn to be polite. One more point is I understand it was busy but having worked a lot in pubs myself in the past there's nothing worse than saying to customers Who's next this just causes friction staff should be actually clocking who's next??..
