Really good, with excellent service, attention and warm reception marred by a couple of minor niggles. We visited here on a Friday about 5 pm. The bar was busy and the restaurant filling up. Really good food. One of us a vegetarian was a bit stuck for choice as on the last visits had the mushroom stroganoff, despite being good it would be good to have other options other than cheese and onion pie. Agree not many veg on offer. The biggest niggle was the really annoying children running around in 5he dining room. Whereas I appreciate it isn’t the fault of the pub, the parents should be told to control them. It will affect if we return

Visited for lunch today and was hugely impressed with everything! The warm and friendly welcome, the stunning and traditional pub decor and general atmosphere, just what you wish for when you need that traditional pub feel of old, but with a dash of modernness without making it feel awkward. Now then…. The food….in a nutshell…. AMAZING! 👏👏 👏😃👏👏👏 I had Haddock and chips and my companion had the mushroom stroganoff. Talk about fresh and flavoursome! Honestly, this was the best pub food I can ever remember having and my companion said exactly the same. Huge compliments to the chef, to be honest I was blown away by how good today’s visit was. The staff are an absolute credit to the business, always happy to help, cheerful, attentive, polite and friendly, even when it started getting busy. I will most definitely be returning, you have now achieved the accolade of “my favourite pub”. Please keep doing what you’re doing, you’re doing an exceptional job and I will continue to support you for as long as I hope to! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely place. Good home cooked food. Clean and tidy. Fish and chips large was a mega portion. Baguettes are generously filled . They accommodated our young boy as he wanted a cheese sandwich and it wasn’t on the menu. Will definitely visit again as there is more food I want to try! Only criticism is that they had a large party booked in and only 2 staff on so service slowed the longer we were there.

Top marks 10/10 passed last Sunday lunch hadn’t booked but called in and to see if I could have a table for 3 which they confirmed they could. Staff was so welcoming and friendly we had Sunday roasts of the fixed 2 or 3 course menu. Food arrived shortly after ordering all home cooked generous portions and tasted delicious followed by puddings which again was delicious. We all said we will be make the grapes a regular place to go for food we was unable to fault anything. Perfect meal, good portions size and sensible prices. Extra marks deserved for all the staff from the gentleman behind the bar who met us on arrival and found us a table to the older waitress who was so pleasant and the couple of younger girls who served us pudding you was all amazing thanks see you soon

Was seated at 1210, pub was steady but wouldn't say packed. 15 mins later we managed to be asked for our order. So 1225...... Food arrived at 1322 with zero apologies for how late it was. One of our party left as went to the bar to ask where the food was and was left stood there being ignored for nigh on ten mins. I get that locals would always be chatted too, but talking about how Linda was whilst blanking everyone else at the bar was just poor. An hour for Gammon and chips is really poor. Won't be returning anytime soon And if the management are reading this, the chap taking the orders needs to work on his attitude. Awful all round

We booked a table for food. Nice to see the pub busy but there was only one girl holding the fort, running the bar, taking out meals, collecting plates etc. This meant the service was extremely slow and certainly wasn’t with a smile. The food arrived after 40 mins or so and it was mediocre pub grub. The fish was over cooked and the gammon was wet (needed to be rested) which meant the whole plate was swimming! Think they need to employ more staff front of house and someone with more cookery skills in the kitchen. Better off at the Stags.

After a previous good experience we decided to visit again. OMG what an awful experience. We were sat down straight away as they were quiet. Service was shocking, but we made allowances as the young girl seemed to be new. We waited about 40 minutes for our starter, it was basic at best. When the main course came, the chips were soggy and border line raw. My Corn was cold and peas like bullets. No onion rings as stated on the menu. We were asked how it was and gave out honest feedback. At this point I was told I wouldn’t get a refund as I had eaten the meat from the Ribs !! I hadn’t even asked for a discount even thought the food was disgusting. I have never been spoken to like this in a restaurant, it was beyond belief. Needless to say we will not return !!

We popped into The Grapes in November for lunch, the main door was locked even though it was past the opening time. Eventually after knocking someone let us in. We sat at a table which was sticky and had crumbs on the seating and floor area. The dining area looked like it had not been cleaned from the night before, or a very long time. We had one drink and in that time there were no other customers, due to the lack of cleanliness we decided to leave and eat elsewhere. The next time we visited was around Christmas, once again the pub was empty, we had one drink and left, it all felt really run down and sad. I have visited this pub off and on for over forty years and sadly it has been run into the ground. The smell of drains hits you in the face on entry, the decor and interior are outdated and worn out, it’s dirty and uncomfortable. This pub is in the heart of the village and should be thriving and making a good trade especially as there a few new housing estates being built in the area. I hope this pub gets the renovation it’s crying out for and becomes the goldmine it could be.

I came for a Birthday meal. The staff reserved a selection of tables ready. The staff are friendly and helpful. However, if you don't order the carvery, food takes a long time to come out. Some of our guests waited up to 40 minutes for burgers and pizza well after everyone else had eaten. Also, the air con either doesn't work or wasn't on and everyone was uncomfortably hot. I presume the air con doesn't work as it looks terribly old looking and the walls had water stains from condensation. There's no windows to open and it made it an unpleasant experience. Aside from the heat and the slow service, there wasn't any other complaints.

Been here a few times, and due to husbands illness...on my own. I have been treated so well, like we live here rather than visitors. Absolutely love this bar, thanks to bar staff, owner and locals. Wouldn't go anywhere else x

Not a fan of bottomless brunches in general, only went for my daughter’s birthday. The food was so horrid it was actually amusing, I thought it was our complimentary starting platter , not a main meal to share with 6 of us 😂 chips, spring rolls and small pieces of chicken that looked and tasted like icelands’ finest. If you’re going for the food don’t bother 😂 The drinks, atmosphere and service top notch though, the bingo is good fun, time flew by. You get your monies worth with the drinks alone, glasses were never empty. Up the food quality and portions and this place will do well.

Been there a couple of times with my baby boy on match day when it’s really busy and have been so helpful bringing me my drink (at their suggestion, not my request) so I don’t have to leave my baby even though they were super busy. Friendly staff, quick to clean up and yummy coffee. Definitely recommend!!!
