My wife and I have eaten at this establishment on many occasions over the past few years and found it to be on parr with most greasy spoon cafes. It’s nothing special. The prices are reasonable, and the food is what you expect from a greasy-spoon café. Unfortunately, on our last two visits we were both disappointed with the brews and the breakfasts that we’d ordered. The brews were both piss week and cold; the bacon was overcooked and dry and the eggs looked like filthy fridge magnets due to the dirty cooking oil coupled with being nuked. Although we decided to dismiss our experience on the second to last visit, we could not do the same on our last (and final) visit. Unfortunately, we had an even worse experience on this occasion. We again received lukewarm and week brews inclusive of a spoon left in the mug. Why… I don’t know, as neither of us take sugar and there was nothing to stir. Anyway, on this occasion, I asked if the egg can be replaced given that it was not runny. The replacement egg was equally as nuked as the first and the saucer that it came on was dripping in dirty fat. We didn’t eat the eggs or the fossilised bacon. As we sat pondering on whether to complain I happened to glance down at the floor and noticed numerous dead fly’s all within 5 feet or so of where we were eating. This prompted me to have a proper look around and the tables had clearly not been wiped for some considerable time. As for the floor… this looked like it hadn’t been moped since prior the pandemic. It was filthy. Dust, dead fly’s, bits of paper everywhere. My wife was very disturbed by the dead fly’s and lack of hygiene standards and swiftly headed to the toilet to wash her hands before promptly leaving. OMG! The toilets were equally as horrendous. There wasn’t any toilet tissue, hand sanitiser/soap or hand towels. They are disgusting. Enough said!

I almost forgot to leave a review for this establishment which I visited with my wife just a few days before Christmas. I am not from the area and just chose to have a drive out to Leigh for something different to do. It was a cold and very wet day, and my wife and I simply wanted to get out of the rain as quickly as possible and have something warm to eat. I don't know why we chose this place but so glad we did. Do not let the very 1960's decor put you off! This cafe provided us with one of the best eating experiences that I have had in recent years. It is all about good wholesome home made food. My wife had a roast turkey dinner whilst I had their home made mince beef pie. Both meals were to die for!!! Absolutely outstanding quality at a real value for money price. Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and my wife keeps asking me when are we going to return, which we certainly will do in the near future.

Me and my son visited for lunch during the school holidays and the staff were friendly and very accommodating. Don’t expect Michelin star food, thats not what this place it about, its literally good home cooked grub which is exactly what you expect from a town centre cafe... Comfort food at its best :)

We called in whilst on a shopping trip to Leigh market. A really warm welcome met us from the cheerful staff. There are big blackboards on the walls listing lunch time specials at £9.00 for two, great for those of us with poor sight. The portions are huge and really well presented. We will be back in the future.

not bad food always busy around lunchtime, central location, dawsons pies available and they do a mean pie and chips, they have a take away window and sell ice cream in the summer so you don't have to go into the cafe to get served

We called in for a hangover full English breakfast, and it was gorgeous. The cafe is spotless, the food was well cooked and well presented, the service was quick, the staff were friendly. If you want a full English go here. I've not tried anything else but I had a look at the menu and it all sounds good.

Went for lunch with a colleague, had pie chips and gravy. Was pretty average and gravy was very watery. It is however good to get a bacon/sausage sandwich from when you want something cheap and filling to take out. I won't be sitting down for a meal again as I really don't think the food quality warrants the cost.

Went with a mate for dinner and had the large full english with a coffee, the food was ok apart from some items being cold. The table needed a wipe as it didnt look like it was cleaned from the previous customers. And the condiments, including ketchup had been watered down. Cutlery Needed a wash and was in dirty containers. Apart from that it was nice

Decided to try this cafe for lunch one day. Very pleasant and welcoming staff. Order and pay at the till and then all food and drinks are brought to the table. We had steak pie chips and peas with gravy. Although the pie was not home made it was from a local baker and was very nice. Lovely milky coffee. Also good for a snack or light lunch.

First and defiantly the LAST. If you want cheap herons/Iceland produce then this is the place to go. Cheap burgers cheap chips cheap sausage and cheap bacon. Considering your surrounded by butchers you would think they would source their produce from there. Clearly a cheap place to eat. Oh and not to mention the cheap coffee.

This is not a restaurant - if you expect one you might be disappointed, but it is a great cafe! We had lunch on the busy Saturday the day before Mother's day. It was busy but there was plenty of space and we found a table for the four of us, which was clean and ready. The staff were lovely and friendly, and helpful to make sure my fussy son didn't have baked beans anywhere near his lunch! The two-for-six-pounds meals were a generous portion and were really nice, and the burgers were juicy and ENORMOUS! We all got what we ordered, delivered to the table hot and quite quickly. The cafe was clean and the wait for food was not too long. We will certainly go back - can't understand why anyone would go to McD's over the road when this little gem is here :-)
