Applewood Farm in Wigan

Been a while since we've been here and it's had a complete overall and revamp. Much improved, very bright, modern and clean. Loved the new cafe area and the carvery was lovely. Great value and food was brilliant. We'll definitely returning in the future. Many thanks 👍

Staff were all lovely, and the carvery was deeelish. The place was clean. Went on a Sunday and the place was packed, but we were still served quickly, and didn't have to wait for the carvery.

After a refreshing walk along the Roe Green Loopline, there's no better way to unwind than with a sumptuous afternoon tea at the Farmhouse Kitchen in Worsley. Priced at £12.50 per person, you are served a few small pastries, a Yorkshire pudding wrap cut in half to share, two scones with jam and clotted cream, along with a huge slice of cake. You also have endless top up of tea and coffee.

Visited again for a catch up with my long suffering friend!! Atmosphere has changed since the refurbishment, personally I preferred the old look. But the food was up to scratch and on parr with other establishments serving both carvery and main menu. Very reasonably priced too. The best bit about this visit was the smiliest waitress, polite and considerate - Jamie. She made this visit special and I’d definitely come back again.

The playing area is clean and nice. Staff are very good with kids. Service is excellent! Regular place to go with kids👍

So we returned to the farmhouse kitchen (formley Applewood) what a huge difference and transformation. The service was impeccable so much that we return a couple of days later with our son. The food was perfectly cooked both the set meals and the carvery. On the second visit the place was really busy but we only had to wait 15 minutes. Again excellent food and brilliant service.. Well worth the visit

Had a lovely afternoon tea here today with family. Staff were friendly, helpful and very accommodating. Place was lovely and clean and food was great. Cakes were delicious, one big slice of cake, surrounded by smaller pieces of chocolate brownie, flapjack and lemon drizzle. Turkey and stuffing wraps were tasty and the unlimited hot drinks were a bonus. Personal preference would be to have a smaller piece of cake for more of the turkey wraps.

Amazing selection of food at the carvery! Very fresh and tasty. The manager Mandy was lovely and took great care of us throughout. Would definitely visit again!

Had a beautiful afternoon tea with friends, the yorkshire pudding wrap lovely and there was so much we got to box it up and take it home. Lovely server Dawn was very helpful, what a lovely lady!

Was greeted by Dawn when we got there she looked after us till we left.couldnt do enough for us.was really a good experience.

Had a fabulous meal on the special £9.99 offer. Mandy sorted a table for us and has bees very attentive, excellent customer service, And the carvey was fresh and tasty We will be back 🤩

Catered for 2 support staff and 2 wheelchair users, nothing too much trouble, excellent food and service 😀

Had great service from the staff here. We had to wait a little to be seated but staff were very pleasant and informative. It was quite busy when we arrived. We got standard vegetarian carveries and there was plenty of food we couldn’t finish it and the cheese and onion pie was delicious. The coffee were a little burnt but you get refills and the second coffee was much better. Parsnips were also amazing and would highly recommend for a decent feed at a reasonable price. It is very family friendly which meant it was a bit noisy but good to bring the family if you have one. Restaurant was pretty clean however one of the tea spoon holders could have done with a deep clean. Overall 5 star experience for a good hearty meal, friendly and great staff and a decent price.

I visited this pub last night that has extensive menu options with very large portions! The staff were lovely, friendly and so polite. The homemade cakes in particular are absolutely delicious!

Called in today, after past experience when it was applewood farm I was dubious. Well I was glad I did give it a second chance..From the lovely lady assistant manager to the staff behind the bar all where pleasent and nothing was to much trouble. The food was lovely and everything was reasonably priced. Beautifully clean. Will definitely be coming again. Loads of parking

Spotlessly clean, fresh, bright - complete opposite of some of the "chain" carveries... food hot, server was so friendly and nice to our little one. &, Bonus - a play area! Perfect for a family tea. Thankyou!

An excellent evening out for all the family. The kids loved both the indoor and outdoor play area. The staff were all really friendly and helpful, Mandy took the time to chat with the kids and made us feel really welcome

Food was awful cold, tasteless and not worth the money.

None of the cakes appear to be vegan - you could (and should) convert all recipes to fully plant-based recipes - there is zero reason to be including animal products in your cakes. The vegan pie was quite good, but the serving with frozen veg and chips was disappointing. More vegan options across all of your menus would be much appreciated please.

Absolutely brilliant and friendly service from arrival to leaving fantastic on dealing and catering for allergies all our meal were amazing a must visit for everyone thanks for everything to all staff.

Lovely to see a bit of colour in a Greene King pub! Relaxed and homely atmosphere, can tell there is pride in cleanliness and a very attentive team. Great portion sizes on main menu and fantastic carvery - will return 😊

We came tonight at 5pm for my son's 2nd birthday. The server isabell was amazing the was nothing that she wouldn't do to make your meal and time here special. To even bringing the cake out to bringing us plates to making sure the birthday boy was happy. She's a credit to farmhouse kitchen amazing! Xx

Pleasant experience even though the place was full. Plenty being refreshed on the carvery and the queue was moved quickly. If you want to go on a Sunday, make sure to book a table.

We was well impressed with the carvery, everything was fresh, hot and tasty. The staff were lovely and they've done a great job with the renovation.

Well what can I say, excellent sums it up. But that would make for a short review ! This morning is only my 2nd time here for breakfast, and the 1st time for the rest of my family. The breakfast is hot, tasty and well cooked, all that you need. It opens at 8.00am which is also a bonus if you need to get somewhere. The drinks are dispensed via a machine, I was not expecting good things… I was wrong, the hot chocolate is the best I have tasted, and that includes M&S. It’s also great value for money, my tip for your visit (learnt from my first visit) is after you have paid for your breakfast at the till point, do not go straight away and get the food, take your cup and get the hot drinks, then get your toast, only then make your way to the buffet line…. Stops the breakfast getting cold. This is nothing like the old establishment before it, give it a try, you will come back again. Special mention needs to go the Mike the manager, very helpful and a great host.

Nice clean family eatery... Great for family meal, mother's day or a birthday meal !! I would take family but I wouldn't nip in for a pint after work as it's totally lost that pub feel and the beer is expensive.

There were no staff to see the 'Wait here to be seated' sign. Eventually someone approached. They asked if I wanted a table for 2 or 3. I was puzzled, 'Just for 1 please'. I then realised that more people had come in behind me and he was talking to them. He showed them to a table. I left!!

Visited on Friday evening with friends. Starters and mains served quickly, great food. I had carvery for main, never disappoints! Lovely friendly staff, special mention to Mandy who looked after us, went above and beyond and also helped at the end of the night when our car door was frozen shut and came out with some warm water! Won't hesitate to visit again and would recommend! 5 stars!!

This place has a fantastic warm atmosphere with its new layout. Staff are absolutely amazing and can’t do enough for you. We called in today for a meal to celebrate our grandson’s 19th birthday. We were waited on by Dana and she was just brilliant especially when my granddaughter wanted to take home a Chocolate brownie sundae which is something they don’t normally do but Dana made it possible to the delight of my granddaughter who thoroughly enjoyed it when she got home. It might not have looked as nice in the cake box as it did in a sundae glass but it went down just as well 🫢 so thank you Dana you’re a star ⭐️. Definitely a well deserved 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ we will definitely be back. .

Fantastic, friendly service from the team including Mike, Jayde & Deb. Food = Value for money & wide variety. Kids enjoyed the continental breakfast option. Poached eggs on the egg, avocado option on toast could have been a tad more runny. Be nice to see pancake & waffle option in the future possibly 😋 Cleanliness = Exceptional, however the smell generated from the carvery can linger on clothes thereafter. Entertainment = Kids indoor play area very clean. Arcade games on the expensive side however. Overall, it was a nice way to spend our Sunday morning with the family!

Really lovely lunch had here. I ordered the turkey and stuffing Yorkshire puddings wrap which was delicious and absolutely gigantic. My son thoroughly enjoyed his children's meal. Good service from all the staff who made us feel welcome and looked after. We will definitely be returning.

Family occasion, some had carvery (which was ok). Food off the menu was poor. So poor that 3 meals were that bad we got a refund. When we booked, we were told we had a table and were given an area, so we couldn't all sit together. The draught was off, so only bottled alcohol on sale. Wouldn't go back, so dissapointed!!!
