Applewood Farm in Wigan

Arrived to enjoy the carvery, but it wasn't available due to it being out of service. The staff were very friendly and offered us to choose from the menu. Food was okay

Staff are not very understanding to the needs of individuals with disabilities I have found staff rude And once you ask for something Thay would chat with other staff and find your request funny Eg I asked could the air conditioning be turned down or off as the area very cold And I had 2 elderly adults in their late 70s the area was empty And I asked the staff She was a young lady she said really you want it off And pulled her face Then I went to order food 5 staff members all went into a room behind the bar area I was stood thier 6 mins with not one member of staff in site I found the manger as explained her staff was in a room and I had been waiting He face pulled and she walked off Meal order The 2 people only eat large ketchup ds meals as thay like a dessert A gentleman who served the food said thay only having kids meal Rolling his eyes Then asked why I was not eating I found this so so rude does this matter if I’m only having a drink as I was serving The 2 people with drinks Toilet Orders etc It is a lovely place and food looks lovely But Thay choose to go here And do have choices even if only eating a child’s meal The staff definitely need to change their custom skills it’s very very poor

We had an excellent time as a group of 6 adults and 4 kids. The food was tasty, it all came on time and was hot. The kids menu is great. Massive bonus was the kids play area. They absolutley loved it! We stayed for over 3.4 hours! The staff couldn’t do enough for us and went above and beyond! Dan and Gerry are a credit to the company! Thank you!

Good place to eat. Shame that depending on which staff member you got that they wouldn't allow my wife to have a small bacon on toast instead of bacon and egg, she explained that she wouldn't eat this because she'd had surgery despite explaining they refused to separate the contents. They lost a sale. However, on a separate visit a male served her and he did as asked. It should be agiven that if someone is trying to save food this should be considered seriously as no one knows what someone is going through. More staff training on this topic should be given. You wouldn't expect a child to eat an adults meal, so why no allow someone to alter the meal to allow them to enjoy what they like. Come on guys get upto speed. Life is different for everyone!

First time visiting with a group of friends and we had a great time. Food was excellent, piping hot and lots of choice. Staff were really helpful and attentive.

We were in for a Birthday celebration . The service from Johnathan and Becky was amazing . Lads were great on the carvery too. Excellent food and lots of variety. Best carvery we’ve had in a long time.

Servers are always friendly and helpful, atmosphere is great and the kids love the indoor and outdoor play areas. Always a good time!

Came for a family gathering today 16 of us and we all enjoyed every bit the service was fast and organised from ordering on the app to getting our carveries the staff didn't miss a beat and it was really busy too. We've been before the refurbishment and the new system is so much better . Staff were very friendly and helped with everything Becky and Dana really did look after all of us will definitely be back. We were in for a Birthday party of 18 people. The service from Johnathan and Becky was excellent. Leo and Dan were great on the carvery too. A happy group, excellent food and happy tired children a d adults. What more could you ask for?

Visited Farmhouse kitchen today 13/03/25 Was not disappointed warm welcome by front of house staff it’s a lovely well presented clean pub / restaurant/ carvery It’s the best carvery I have ever eaten the meat is lean all the vegetables are cooked just right ( not rock hard like other places ) Mash & boiled potatoes done perfectly The serving area absolutely spotless the whole of the establishment is a well presented and like the serving area spotless No dirty unclean tables as you enter the restaurant friendly staff honestly can’t praise this carvery / restaurant enough And to top it all unlimited top up on tea-Coffee-Soft drinks and play areas for your little rascals Well done to the team for making this an enjoyable experience Just one little negative comment I noticed the only steak on the main menu was Rump

I know this is a carvery pub but the carvery had finished so we had to order off the main menu it was the worst meal I'd had my daughter macaroni cheese came in a solid lump My burger was dry and had be drowned in bbq sauce also the bun was rock hard Wont be visiting again after that and it cost £50

Lovely place, plenty of space, clean. Just needs tweaking imo, Too much queuing, for drinks,to order food, then having to wait to be called up for carvery, we waited almost 30 minutes,then queued for that too of course. Apart from that, we all enjoyed our food

Long queue for carvery,prices gone up, only 3 meats, roast potatoes over done and hard, parsnips overcooked. Supposed to have improved after the revamp, but I think it’s honestly worse.

A massive thank you to Dan and Mike, they made our granddaughters visit very special, they noticed she had a headteacher award sticker and asked her about it,, she never stop telling us that they both asked about it... this is her favourite place to come and it's always been brilliant...

On arrival, the place was freezing, even though it was a very cold day. We asked the waitress if she could put the aircon down slightly, given it was right above our head, to which we got no response, so we sat for the whole meal with our coats on! We looked around, and there were pots on every table that hadn't been cleared away. When the food came, it wasn't the best. We ordered a rump steak, which was 50% fat and gristle. The burger that we also had was OK, but the portion of chips could have been larger. We asked the waiter who brought our food to turn the aircon down for us, and this time, it felt a bit warmer. We won't be returning.

Attended for a Birthday meal with family. The carvery was dry like it had been out all day under heaters everything was hard from the pigs in blankets to the Yorkshire puddings. Veg was all dried up. One person had the crispy chicken this looked like it had been cooked in an airfryer. Chips were frozen chips The Mac and Cheese looked like it had been cooked in the microwave then put in an oven dish. The only decent food was the steak pie that was obviously bought in Very disappointed. Not once were we asked if everything was ok with the food.

Came here today at 4pm. Service was very disorganised. We were told to take a seat and somebody would tell us when to go up to the carvery. Asked twice and finally we were allowed to go up after 50 mins, watching some tables that arrived after us go up earlier. Then there was a further 15 minute queue at the carvery. When it came to the food, we were unlucky and ended up with the last ‘wedges’ of beef on both meals, fatty end chunks of the meat that were inedible whilst other diners had thin, pink slices. Carrots and cauliflower were so hard I couldn’t cut through them, but overall the food tasted fine, potatoes were lovely as was the cabbage. Overall I think the service model is just odd - waiting at your table to be told to join a queue for food that is already cooked is just unnecessary, especially if you’re not going to manage it properly. Wouldn’t visit again on a Sunday until there is a better system to manage the volume of diners.

Came In Today with my friend for lunch. Was greeted by the lovely Scottish lady Gerry and her husband Pete. We were seated fast and served even quicker by the lovely Connor. Carvery I was served by G who took her time to ask how my day has been, the carvery looked fresh. Beth came to give me a check back. Overall I had a lovely lunch and will be returning in the future.

Overpriced Drinks though refillable which is good. Pretty average food somewhat below my expectations, probably wouldn’t Recommend especially with the price left something to be Desired.

Took advantage after school of kids still eating free this week! Fabulous quality food. The gammon was gorgeous. Kids had exactly what they wanted and were able to play on the outdoor and indoor play area. I particularly want to flag our server Mike who went out if his way to help us cater for our specific needs.

Great Carvery with Attentive Staff. Accommodates for families with small children although family dining area tends to be busy so reserving a table may be best. The carvery is always great & the cakes (all available to cake away) don't fail to disappoint & due to the size of the 'slice' can keep you going for more than just one sitting or can be easily shared without resentment 😅

Went for breakfast this morning and Dawn was very helpful and made sure I had everything I needed. Nice venue :)

Have been getting a cooked breakfast on a regular basis since it re-opened on the too good to go scheme, but my last visit was shocking the way I was spoke to when I went to collect my order at the pick up point. A lady was very rude to me saying I need to come to the main entrance to pick it up to which I said every time I have ever gone to the main entrance I have been told to only go to the pick up point to collect it. Her attitude towards me was like an angry school teacher telling a child off, it was shocking, I nearly left my order( which I had already payed for) but at that point I decided never to come back again.

Halle was great, very friendly and helpful. Hard working and the pub is better than pine tree farm. The food is fresh and hot the coffee is lovely and please don’t up your prices

Having visited this restaurant in its former guise of Applewood farm, the new refreshed look is very clean and modern, but with a traditional farmhouse twist. Food is piping hot and the coffee has been upgraded to include Americanos, Cappucinos, Mochas etc. Staff are very friendly and helpful and Halle was very helpful with our group meal today. The fried eggs especially had a lovely rich yolk and very tasty.

After a refreshing walk along the Roe Green Loopline, there's no better way to unwind than with a sumptuous afternoon tea at the Farmhouse Kitchen in Worsley. Priced at £12.50 per person, you are served a few small pastries, a Yorkshire pudding wrap cut in half to share, two scones with jam and clotted cream, along with a huge slice of cake. You also have endless top up of tea and coffee.

Been a while since we've been here and it's had a complete overall and revamp. Much improved, very bright, modern and clean. Loved the new cafe area and the carvery was lovely. Great value and food was brilliant. We'll definitely returning in the future. Many thanks 👍

Staff were all lovely, and the carvery was deeelish. The place was clean. Went on a Sunday and the place was packed, but we were still served quickly, and didn't have to wait for the carvery.

This was the first time I had visited this restaurant since it's name changed from Applewood Farm. A massive positive for me was the fact that when you make your booking, you can specify if you want to sit in the family area or the main restaurant. As two friends meeting for a catch up, it was lovely to be able to hear eachother speak, and not have unruly kids running round the tables, as was our previous experience. Negatives were that you can only have the carvery on a Sunday whereas you used to be able to choose off the main lunch menu too. The food was good but did go cold quickly and the lady at the bar didn't know what a dry cider was. Overall I would go back following the seating changes.

Visited again for a catch up with my long suffering friend!! Atmosphere has changed since the refurbishment, personally I preferred the old look. But the food was up to scratch and on parr with other establishments serving both carvery and main menu. Very reasonably priced too. The best bit about this visit was the smiliest waitress, polite and considerate - Jamie. She made this visit special and I’d definitely come back again.

The playing area is clean and nice. Staff are very good with kids. Service is excellent! Regular place to go with kids👍

So we returned to the farmhouse kitchen (formley Applewood) what a huge difference and transformation. The service was impeccable so much that we return a couple of days later with our son. The food was perfectly cooked both the set meals and the carvery. On the second visit the place was really busy but we only had to wait 15 minutes. Again excellent food and brilliant service.. Well worth the visit

Had a lovely afternoon tea here today with family. Staff were friendly, helpful and very accommodating. Place was lovely and clean and food was great. Cakes were delicious, one big slice of cake, surrounded by smaller pieces of chocolate brownie, flapjack and lemon drizzle. Turkey and stuffing wraps were tasty and the unlimited hot drinks were a bonus. Personal preference would be to have a smaller piece of cake for more of the turkey wraps.

Amazing selection of food at the carvery! Very fresh and tasty. The manager Mandy was lovely and took great care of us throughout. Would definitely visit again!

Had a fabulous meal on the special £9.99 offer. Mandy sorted a table for us and has bees very attentive, excellent customer service, And the carvey was fresh and tasty We will be back 🤩

I visited this pub last night that has extensive menu options with very large portions! The staff were lovely, friendly and so polite. The homemade cakes in particular are absolutely delicious!

Had great service from the staff here. We had to wait a little to be seated but staff were very pleasant and informative. It was quite busy when we arrived. We got standard vegetarian carveries and there was plenty of food we couldn’t finish it and the cheese and onion pie was delicious. The coffee were a little burnt but you get refills and the second coffee was much better. Parsnips were also amazing and would highly recommend for a decent feed at a reasonable price. It is very family friendly which meant it was a bit noisy but good to bring the family if you have one. Restaurant was pretty clean however one of the tea spoon holders could have done with a deep clean. Overall 5 star experience for a good hearty meal, friendly and great staff and a decent price.
