The best restaurants serving British food in North West

Food delicious and brilliant as always, service not so much! Been coming here for years, probably class it as a local, however after my last 2 visits, the bad service has promoted me to leave a 'rare' review. Today food took waaaaay to long, no one else was eating there were no other orders being brought out, but our basic uncomplicated order took 50minutes to arrive at our table by a girl we found pretty rude. We were unsure wether to risk ordering a pud, we decided to and this took a further 25mins. Again, no other orders were coming out in this time, apart from ONE. One pudding to a nearby table. Had to get up and ask for sauces, no apology for our wait, pretty disappointed by this. Such a shame as we enjoy this place as a family and for one of our party it was their 1st time here today, we praised the place but after today it's been off putting.

Having eaten well and received excellent service here in the past, I write this review more in sorrow, than anything else. The service my friend and I received this lunchtime, was appalling. Firstly, we waited some 15 minutes before a member of staff actually took our order for two Sunday lunches. We then waited; and continued to wait until we saw other customers, who had arrived after us, receiving their meals. We then spoke to one member of staff who apologised saying the kitchen had lost our order. But instead of prioritising us, other customers continued to receive their orders before us. To make matters worse, apart from that one member of staff, the manager couldn’t have cared any less. In conclusion, it’s sad to see the declined of a place that was once renowned for service and the high quality of its food. If Sheridans continues like this, it won’t be open for much longer.

Decided to have a quick lunch on our way home but sorry I did so Cheap processed food was served The cafe was almost empty on a lovely day which didn't surprise me

I never knew this place existed until my better half told me her parents were going for an anniversary dinner and it would be good to surprise them…..so glad we went, carvery Sunday dinner and the quality was excellent and superb value for money too! Must mention the waitress who was in on the surprise, she played her part well and kept us informed with my in-laws arrival, they loved the surprise!

Just moved into Hambleton. Everyone I met recommended this place! Nice country walk. Beautiful lakeside view! I have always lived my bacon butties, but these were exceptional along with excellent coffees and smoothies! This will be a regular haunt for us now! Previously had soup of the day! Excellent friendly service! Have joined a band of recommenders now!

Our visit was for our daughters birthday. The hotel was attractive and the staff very attentive and friendly. I had booked a week ago and was a little surprised that they were not expecting us and had to set a table for four people, however they apologised and swiftly seated us. We had the room to ourselves and the staff took our orders, the service was very efficient. The starters were fine but unfortunately the mains were very disappointing. The men enjoyed their meal of pork belly but my daughter and myself had the steak which were very unpleasant, mainly because they were burnt on the outside and raw on the inside, we had ordered medium steaks. The staff very kindly offered to only charge us for one of the steak meals and gave us complimentary coffees because it was my daughters birthday. As this was our first visit i would hope that this was an off day, it didn’t spoil my daughters birthday as the staff were so good.

Comimos pastel de queso y cebolla con papas fritas y un pastel de carne con papas fritas, una olla de guisantes y salsa. Llegó a 14, que parecía un poco empinado, sin embargo, ¡eran posiblemente las mejores tartas que hemos tenido de un chippy! El queso era un pastel individual con un delicioso pastel de mantequilla y el relleno perfecto. El bistec era una porción de una tarta grande, de nuevo pastelería perfecta y carga un relleno de bistec perfectamente cocinado. También obtuve un montón de papas fritas y también dieron en el clavo, al igual que los guisantes y la salsa. Vale la pena el dinero extra y definitivamente volvería si estamos en la zona.

Estaba en Manchester por negocios y pensé en probar este lugar ya que había oído hablar de amigos que viven en la ciudad. El exterior del restaurante es muy bonito y fresco, con una pintura verde y flores pintadas, no te lo puedes perder. El menú está lleno de cosas deliciosas para elegir • Éramos tres y pedimos un montón de cosas. . . El plato mezze, los batidos de cerveza, los nachos -! El sabor y la presentación fueron excelentes. Los precios son razonables y el servicio fue amable y cortés. La decoración es sencilla con unas lindas mesas de madera. Una visita obligada para un almuerzo saludable?

What a lovely little gem this place is 🥰 Called in for a breakfast catch up with a friend today. Lovely owner, very friendly, great service . We had the small breakfast which was cooked to perfection whilst we waited . A really lovely way to start the day without breaking the bank . Great value. Delicious food and good company , we will be back , thank you ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I visited this morning the hotel to deliver something to one of the hotel guest where I received an excellent guest or stakeholder services by the reception member called Paul and one girl ambassador or receptionist at the hotel reception. They helped me out of the box which is very admirable. I found an impresive atmosphere and friendly communication between team members which indicates they have received a satisfactory training by the seniors. Great night and fantastic food wiv some really nice drinks from the gin bar. Can’t wait till it’s time to do it all again

A stunning little cafe set in the grounds of Holker Hall. We called in for a cuppa and sweet treats after spending the afternoon wandering around the grounds. We were lucky enough to have a glorious autumn day, so were able to sit out in the courtyard, which is beautiful. The staff were amazing, so friendly. The prices were good too, I was actually surprised at how reasonable it was, given the location. I had a pot of tea and shortbread, which was to die for! Such a wonderful little spot, it’s a must try when in the area.

I always loved the potato & meat pies from here, always full to the brim and perfectly cooked, however, on my recent visit the pies had more air in them than potato, very sloppy, and the pastry soft. Something has gone wrong here or have they just forgotten how to bake or maybe they are budgeting.

What a fabulous meal we enjoyed last evening. Food, drinks, service, music were all first class. We were amazed that they could serve approx 200 people with hot food. Fast service at the bar too, with plenty of friendly bar staff. And we had a lovely 'full english' breakfast in the morning.
