What a lovely little gem this place is 🥰 Called in for a breakfast catch up with a friend today. Lovely owner, very friendly, great service . We had the small breakfast which was cooked to perfection whilst we waited . A really lovely way to start the day without breaking the bank . Great value. Delicious food and good company , we will be back , thank you ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A lovely spot off the high street in Cheadle. We get to visit regulalry but not regulalrly enough. Nice light spacious main room with eclectic furniture. Tables outside that catch aome good sun. Good choice of music inside. We had ambient dance music this time. 1920’s females the last. The brews are lovely. The Breakfasts good. Cakes are amazing.

Really good range lunch menu and delicious cakes. Owner friendly and good sense of humour! Liked the eclectic mix of tables and chairs - made it more homely than other cafes in Cheadle. A great place to go with friends or by yourself.

Lovely warm welcome on arrival and the food is delicious. My favourite meals are the minestrone soup and the croque peppers. Lovely selection of cakes including a gluten free one which is lovely. Nice wine too. I have found the owners of this small, family business to be kind, caring and attentive and would thoroughly recomend this little gem for anyone wanting refreshments or a light snack.

Off the main road in Cheadle and it was nice to see folks sitting outside in the warmish sun but we opted to go inside. The owner was running about like a headless chicken telling everyone there were lots of orders in so expect a wait. The people we were with said it was always like that and they always expected a wait. There was a young lad working with him but it seemed he was not to be given any tasks like taking orders - he was only directed to clear the tables which he did well. The menu was pretty basic - not too taxing for the two chefs seen in the kitchen. Obviously, it took a while as promised to arrive and our hot drinks were long gone. Things were a bit basic food wise. One of the sandwiches only had filling down the line where it had been cut in half which was a bit of a cheap trick. Not sure I would be keen to rush back.

I discovered this little gem of a café in November 2022 as I had some time to kill before attending an appointment nearby. I don't usually feel comfortable going in cafés or restaurants on my own but I've been unwell recently and needed to sit down. I received a lovely, warm welcome from the café's owners who were really nice and friendly to the point where I was made to feel so welcome, I have been back every week since, before I go for my treatment. I have also found other customers to be very welcoming and friendly too. Each time I visit, the food has been amazing and my favourites are the vegetarian option of the croque monsieur whis is made with peppers and the vegetarian soups they make. They really do take the 'die' out of diet. Something else I thought was really nice was the fact they would try to accommodate special dietary requirements and preferences without it being a huge deal which I guess is the difference between going to a small business like this and a large chain. What's more, the food is always freshly cooked so may take a little longer, especially if they are busy, but well worth any wait for such incredible home cooked food. This café also provides a nice selection of teas and coffees and offers a very limited selection of wine which is so nice, I am very content to stick with the wine choices they have to offer if I fancy a glass of wine after my appointment as I sometimes pop back for a meal if I don't want to have to cook when I get home as I do not live locally. In addition to eventually trying other vegetarian options, I also want to attend one of the amazing music nights that they host which some of their customers highly recommended. I was very surprised to read some negative reviews about this incredible café as what they were saying could not have been further from the reality of my experiences and I visit at least once a week because it has been so good each time. Regardless of how busy they are, the highest of standards for food and service have always been maintained and I have NEVER had one bad or remotely disappointing visit. I absolutely love everything about this café and would not want to change a thing as I wouldn't want it to lose the magic it holds for me. It's the only café I have ever visited on my own without feeling uncomfortable or awkward. Huge thank you to the owners for their kindness and care each time I go. I have no hesitation in recommending this café which has to be one of Cheadle's best kept secrets.

My little girls have been pestering me to go in all half term. I think they were Intrigued by the bright tea cosy in the window this time. We popped in for cake, hot chocolate and I got myself a coffee which was very good by the way. I'm not sure which brand they use but it's very good! There is a great selection of cakes even gluten free. We've previously had breakfast and lunch and they always have a gluten free option available with the usual disclaimers. If you fancy an independent feel this place definitely has that. The owners are lovely, and we were made to feel very welcome. We even managed to get the comfy sofa area this time! A lovely cosy and relaxing ending to a mad week. We will be back! Thank you.

Bland Went years ago and tried it again today. Tasteless ham and tomato toastie. My friend had a tasteless sausage sandwich too served by a condescending man! Freezing cold inside and only us two in it. I wonder why? So many other places to eat in Cheadle but we picked the wrong place unfortunately. Never again

Oh my goodness absolutely dreadful food. Just could not believe it when we had lunch last week. Cheap food and terrible staff. White cheap bread with little bits of bacon put over the cheese and hot grapes! The man serving was rude and the outside area was on a slant so our plates and glasses kept Sliding down. Will never go there again.

The locality around this area and in more areas is an 'A' area is full to be brim of top notch and pubs beyond. However, for all their pre booking systems, 'A' prices, and yes you want to dress up and be seen? Or, simple life? Been out, busy, not planned, starving, with friends, car park next door, 30 steps to cafe; and the most amazing, yes thats what I really want Real food! Good Food, freash, cooked, and a cafe that does offer cake and beyond. For those moments when you want/need that choice, big hungry you and friends the big choice of our traditional favs, and just drop in. This is a totally hidden Gem, Food Menu is what hungry people want on the 'Run', and the venue lovely, but the food is Mega, no bones on this one, and I have eaten within the Cheshire area. Simply the best top quality cafe I have eaten in, the cheese/ham/onion toastie and the crisp potatoe wedgies were real potatoe wedges crisp, huge! I know food, and all was top quality, along with the salad and grape jus served with, bread, and all was freashly cooked, Pipping hot, even though my sister and I turned up at 4pm on Saturday just, after a long day walk at RHS Cheshire and just needed to eat, what a amazing gem find! Staff totally lovely, warm, relaxed and so impressed, and so hungry, didnt photo food! It might not be on your path as such; but a fabulous call in if you are in the area and want top quality food, nice venue, and oh, just go there its fab.

My partner and I visited Cheadle for the day as he had an appointment at a clinic. We stopped off just to get a brew but then decided to have crumpets, toast and friend egg. We left this cafe with a spring in our step. Our server (didn’t catch his name but I presume he was the owner) was warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and our food was lovely. The full English looked amazing, we were gutted we’d not ordered it! Other customers were friendly and clearly locals but everyone said hi to one another and exchanged pleasantries. If you’re anything like us and enjoy supporting small businesses, pop into this place for breakfast or lunch. You will not be disappointed. To the staff at Le Petit Bijou, thank you for your wonderful service and food and thank you for putting a smile on our faces 😊

Was in Cheadle and decided to visit on a recommendation and I was not disappointed. The owner was very welcoming and I felt valued as a customer. The tea was flavoursome and I treated myself to a toasted tea cake which was perfectly done as it was frazzled to a crisp like sometimes happens and it was warm too. I will both return and recommend to others.

My partner and I were looking for somewhere to have a quiet Saturday lunch in Cheadle and found that everywhere on the High Street was crowded. Found this place on a side street and decided to give it a go as didn't look too busy.Glad we tried it - £11.40 for a sausage, bacon & egg sandwich, a bacon sandwich, a pot of tea and a coffee. Not bad at all when considering the quality of the ingredients (obviously freshly cooked as promised on the menu), the relaxed atmosphere and the personal, if slightly quirky service, by someone who clearly wanted to look after the customers. We told the owner we'll go back and we will!

Of all the cafes in Cheadle I tend to go to Bijou for my Saturday brunch (very nice sausages) or, if I'm in the mood, a post-shopping coffee or a hot chocolate with marshmellows on top. No eyelids are batted when I order the latter! Oh, and they do very nice cakes!Bijou is aptly-named: it's prettily decorated, homely and relaxed. I'm often offered a paper to read if I'm alone, always offered the wifi password if they see I have my phone... and what I really like about it is the sense of community in the place; other business owners regularly drop by to chat to the owner and have a gossip or a laugh with him and customers! There are plenty of cafes to choose from in the area. If you want a place with no individuality and staff who see you as a walking purse as opposed to an individual, go to Costa!

This is definitely not a child friendly cafe! After entering a busy bijou we sat down at the only table left which was a four seater. My wife and I and our month old daughter struggled with the logistics of arranging the buggy and the chairs, no help was offered. We were perusing the menu when a group of three walked through the door, we were then immediately and rudely asked to move to a two seater which the current occupants of were hardly ready to leave themselves. We sat down, felt thouroughly embarrased and then decided to leave. A lovely woman commented as we left "I'm so with you on that" which made us feel slightly better. A thouroughly pretentious, money hungry establishment masquerading as a boho chicindependant. Go to jas jas jas, in fact go anyway apart from here!

Girls like to deliberate! Our food came and my friends Ploughmans looked and apparently was gorgeous, really fresh. I had the hot Chicken and Bacon sandwich which too was lovely. We caught up with all our news and then decided to have another coffee along with a cake, which you just have to do! These were lovely homemade cakes which just rounded our afternoon off perfectly. It was as always a great afternoon in The Bijou, lovely food and service, and we both said on the way home that it is like sitting in your own lounge having a chat. There was no pressure and we were not rushed at all. Just a lovely afternoon, thank you......

A friend and I decided to go for lunch here. This turned out to be a grave error. I ordered scrabbled eggs and toast with brown sauce. Upon the food arriving the toast was rather soggy, apologetically I said that I had meant to ask for the the eggs separately. I explained it was because the toast goes soggy otherwise. The man serving, who I assume is the business owner, must have taken offence at this explanation, as he moodily retorted, 'you don't have to explain the mechanics. I am an educated man'. My friend and I, as well as other dinners were rather taken aback by the comments. This soured the experience entirely. In addition to this, when I asked for some brown sauce, the owner then point blank refuted that I had asked for sauce, stating, I should have asked earlier, which was strange, considering how trivial asking for condiments should be. Eventually he returned with the sauce and conceded that I had in fact asked for it, to the owner's credit he did muster a solitary 'sorry'. To cap the experience he said 'next time, get you order right the first time round' I responded saying there wouldn't be a next time. I found rather amusing that despite his claims of being an 'educated man' he failed to recognise that his manner was completely at odds with the industry he has chosen to work in. A thoroughly unpleasant experience overall, I would highly recommend NOT going and putting money in to this rude man's business.

This is the second time I have been here and there certainly won't be a third! First time I asked if we could bring our baby group as the place is always empty and I thought it would make for a quiet environment in the village. I was told in no uncertain terms 'No' as they don't like buggies in the cafe. I thought I would try it again just with my baby. Firstly the owner abused my buggy and said it was oversized and I wouldn't find it useful and would change to a cheap fold down one (?!?!), then when the bill came they charged me £6.50 for a latte and a piece of cake. When i questioned the price, the lady got incredibly angry and rudely told me I didn't have to have ordered anything! Considering I was trying to support a local business, at those prices, I will be going back to one of the big chains!!! Safe to say, I won't be returning!!!

If you need a break from Manchester life or just feel the urge to escape without leaving the country, we always found Bijou refreshingly different, with an atmosphere that allows you to forget you are in Manchester or even Britain. That said, it does one of Britain's best fry-up breakfasts, which are great value for money too and the friendly staff make a half-decent coffee. There are plenty of dining tables, a front terrace and a courtyard that we remember being open during summer plus (our favourite) fabulously comfortable sofas in one corner perfect for a relax.Recently returning after about six years away we were pleased to find little had changed and the formula is obviously working for the owners, who have survived the financial crisis and recession. This reviewer now lives in cafe-heaven Melbourne so to remain impressed with Bijou is a complement of the highest order!

I've been a regular patron of Bijou for quite a few years now. The quirky music and home-like setting makes me feel incredibly comfortable. The food is excellent. Some may argue it is a bit pricey but once you see the size of the portions you can't really argue. Real value for money in my opinion - I definitely recommend the breakfast. The choice of food is pretty varied and you can get anything from just a scone to a fillet steak cooked exactly as you want it. It's all fresh too, which is becoming harder and harder to find in restaurants/bistros these days. The service is also second to none. Like the other reviewer says, it is a family run business so you don't get the faceless spotty teenager you might get in say, Starbucks or Costa Coffee. The guys obviously love the place and that shows through in the service and the whole vibe. I think my absolute favourite area is the garden. I don't think there are many places in Stockport where you can walk in off a busy street and walk into a garden and feel like you're in the middle of the countryside! At night the fairy lights encircle the booths out there and it is quite a magnificent and ambient place to be, whether with friends or out for a nice romantic meal. It's not the biggest place but I like that. It's not about getting bums on seats and rushing people to get more in. I like to relax and have a coffee without feeling like I'm being pressured to get a move on. There is something more chilled about a smaller dining area. I like the fact the they have two large sofas to slouch in and read the days papers too. I'm not sure that Juliet Potter is talking about the same place I know. In all the years I've been going I have never had reason to complain nor heard anyone else do so either. With respect to it being "freezing" I can't really fathom that. There are two wall electric heaters on throughout the winter as well as extra gas ones. As I said, it's not the biggest place so that is more than enough to keep it comfortably toasty, especially this time of year. All in all, Bijou is a fabulous little bistro where attention to detail is paramount.

Firstly, I can only presume that the author of the negative review has either mistaken this restraurant for another or it is a false reveiew. I am a regular visitor to bijou and have introduced many friends and family to the bistro. Service is always first class, this is a family run bistro and has a warm and welcoming atmosphere unlike most chains. The main reason i suspect the negative review to be incorrect is because bijou is renowned for its large portion sizes? The menu is unlike most as it serves everything from a t-cake to a full breakfast, to a steak. All food is freshly cooked by the joint owner, which obviously means standards are high. The inside seating area is not a huge area, (as they have the bar and the kitchen on the ground floor aswell) this gives it an intimate, cosy feel, and it wouldn't be difficult to attract attention. They have four heaters in that small area, so i struggle to see how it would ever be cold unless it had only just opened? They also have a lovely garden with cute little booths and fairy lights. Better than any beer garden i've been in anyway!Overall this is a lovely place to meet friends for a drink, treat your someone to a meal or catch up with your Mum! I have always had great service and would recommend it to anyone.

We didn't get things we ordered and throughout the meal we had to keep trying to attract their attention to ask for things we needed.
