Kings Tap in Stockport

Tuesday night, nice lady on bar . Food atrocious. Dry microwaved fayre. Really awful and i dont go into a spoons for a gourmet experience but heavens this was a very poor example of a spoons.

I like to bob into the King's Tap before going to the barbers in the precinct. Always met with a friendly smile, find a nice quiet nook to enjoy a well kept Guinness and people watch out of the window and all for £3.80 (which I am guessing is a happy hour price?). It's such a simple pleasure but one that I really enjoy each time I am able to partake.

A lovely, calm, welcoming atmosphere. Highly reccommended!

I had the Cumberland Sausage with mash and peas (£8). The sausages were excellent: about the best I've ever had in a pub. Next time I go for breakfast in Cheadle Hulme I'm going to ask if they do those sausages with the breakfast. In the past I've also had the steak & ale pie, which is also good. This has become my goto place to eat when I'm in the area. I don't tend to drink during the working day, so the stars are awarded for the food, I can't comment either way on the ale. I marked the atmosphere as medium because during sporting events (Cheltenham, footie, etc) it's dominated by screens everywhere. My preference would be to have less of the pub covered by the screens, so that I could choose whether or not to have one in front of me. . . clearly other customers appreciate the sport so I'm not saying remove them all. Other reviewers mention this being a former Wetherspoon's. In my opinion Spoons has gone downhill on food quality since COVID: and food quality here is about where Spoons were at their best; so a lot better than Spoons are today, and so I'm glad the pub changed ownership.

Me and my other half went in at 10pm to get a late drink after gusto’s and they were extremely rude and even made a weird chavy noise after we left. Absolutely disgusted and I will never be visiting here again.

Went for breakfast on Mother's Day (Sunday), not realising it didn't open until 11 am. Only one Chef working and managed to accommodate 11 of us in a timely fashion, and food was well prepared, hotband tasty. Bar manager was very accommodating and pleasant. I'm thinking of making it a regular.

Cheaper beer than other places in Cheadle Hulme but the food was so dire we just don't go back. Might have improved recently but we don't want to chance it with so many other good food places in Cheadle Hulme and neighbouring places

Nice local at cheadle hulme...great rates on the ale selection all through the week...superb service, nice crowd

Guinness was good and not extortionate; Had the full breakfast which for the price was really good value. Burgers were decent too (we stayed a while). Sport was on TV - Sky sports. Only downside was that it was freezing inside but even then they gave us portable heaters. Faultless really

Not a bad boozer but a little rundown. Having read other people’s comments here about it having been a Wetherspoons in the past makes some sense of its layout too (especially the toilets). I do like it here though, and the beer garden is nice enough, just a little too dirty in places … and I felt caught out by the fact that they put prices up over the weekend 😂 Still, it’s extremely reasonable here if you visit before then

First visit since it was a Spoons a few years ago. Nice pint of Robinson's Trooper. One of three real ales on. They are Cask Marque accredited..( Timmy Taylors Landlord or Sharp's Doom Bar being the others) Very quiet Wednesday November 1st evening. Front outdoor seating when sun shines. Good for Pool....two tables dominate the rear space. Small balcony seating area by the bogs. OK but prefer other local bars.

Lovely staff and atmosphere. Food service was fast and good value. Was busy for the football but still managed to find a table easy enough.

Popped in with the family. We had a lovely welcome of the staff. The pub was brilliant decorated for both Rugby World Cup and Halloween. Drinks are reasonably price and food was fantastic

Never eat here! Not much on the menu is available. What is, is sub par, and that's being polite! Good for a drink and a game of pool. Definitely nothing else! No offence to the staff. You're all friendly.....just stop cooking!!! ✋️ xxx

Great garden space at the back of the building. Lovely sitting out there enjoy the 2 for 1 cocktails they had on offer. Almost felt like being on holiday ha. Friendly staff and a good selection of drinks. Will call in again sometime

We stopped off for a bite to eat on our way to friends and were pleasantly surprised. I had the Katsu chicken burger and my husband had the hand battered fish and chips. Lovely and tasty pub grub qe can heartily recomend. The staff were friendly and helpful and a nice choice of beers, shame I was driving. If we pass again we shall be back.

Such a cheap please for drinks during the week. Food was spot on! We have a club sub and a cheese and bacon burger, we could fault it at all!

Came for a drink whilst waiting for train and we weren’t disappointed. Lovely selection of drinks on offer and the staff were really nice aswell.

Fabulpus service with a smile from the man behind the bar, I believe his name was Michael. The beer was cold, and the burgers were tasty and hot. We will definitely be back next time we pass.

Shocking experience out for a friends birthday. We chose to meet here at 1700 Saturday, we met with around 15 of us. Was all happy and in good spirits and after a couple of hours and several drinks in the manager came over and asked us to quieten down. It's not like we were a group of lads out on a stag doo we were all with our wives/girlfriends and there was probably 4 or 5 different conversations going on Spent a couple of hundred quid between us easy to be treated like idiots! Place is pretty run down, no people skills, expensive and nothing special. Won't ever be returning!

Called in for a drink on Good Friday, it was fairly empty drinks were reasonable however who I presumed was the manager was ready for bed in pyjamas and dressing gown very odd!!

Went for breakfast, it wasn’t busy but felt like we inconvenienced the staff member. They didn’t have enough sausages for three breakfasts so we shared. They were burnt, but the bacon was barely cooked. The eggs were burnt around the edges but raw on top....

Stop serving food at 8pm, because who could possibly be hungry after 8pm, but won’t let you eat any other food in there. Appalling service, would avoid.

9 people in the bar but dirty glasses were on the tables the bartender was chatting to a couple at the bar. Eventually a lady came to our table to collect glasses, there was spilt beer on the table, why did we have to ask her to wipe the surface clean.

Great pub with a massive selection of quality drinks and food. The staff are really knowledgeable about their products and are really friendly and welcoming, best of all, they are just as welcoming to your dog! Would definitely recommend

Always have a great time in here, the staff are all really friendly, particularly Keenan, nothing is too much trouble for him. The pub looks great the Christmas and world cup decorations are excellent

Came in for a friends baby shower over the weekend. The area was beautiful decorated by the staff. The lads behind the bar were polite and friendly. I will definitely be booking my next event here!
