Our first visit for many years. Shared a lunch with the Mrs, sausage starter and fish sharing platter, both really good. Good, attentive friendly service, ordering is done at the bar. Ample parking.

This is a proper pub ! The team working here are ultimate professionals - they don’t take their eye off the ball and are incredibly friendly and welcoming. As a female often visiting on her own, I can say that the other regulars / locals help make this a safe place for social interaction. I’ve also hosted a small event here and the feedback in relation to the catering was phenomenal - a Vegan friend declared her food to be the best she’s ever has while eating out. Just an all round lovely place.

Visited today 16/7/24 for the monthly lunch I have with my brother as we have been doing for several years now. I had my usual fish and chips treat, a bit disappointed as the batter was a bit soggy, it's usually extra crisp which is how I like it. The service was excellent from the friendly staff. However when I came to pay I had to compete with the 'Barflies' a group of guys occupying the narrow bar area (no doubt to chat up the young lady bar staff) to pay. I notice I am not the first person to mention this, when you do the refurbishment maybe you should bear this in mind.

Nice country pub in a lovely setting but the staff need to be careful they are serving at the bar first come first served. Unfortunately a group of guys standing at the end of the bar very friendly with staff constantly bypassing all the people waiting with nods and winks to the bar staff. Quite frustrating for everyone else especially when the staff are driving this. Will give it another chance and see …

We were out for a walk in the area on a cold, grey day. From the outside the pub didn’t look open but in we walked with our dog and so glad we did. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and the food well. We couldn’t have asked for better. I love a Sunday roast and this place did not disappoint. Roast belly pork. Delicious with lovely crispy roast potatoes and tasty veg. Inside the pub is warm and inviting and just the right anoint of ‘pubiness’. In addition there are loads of tables out front and we spotted a garden with tables and benches too which I can imagine would be great on a warm, sunny day.

We nipped into the Davenport Arms on Saturday, three knackered cyclists, it had been a tough ride in the rain and wind. Off the cuff, one of the staff (nice young girl, blonde hair) brought something over to us - a treat - even though we'd not even asked for it. It well cheered us up so thank you for that! We must have looked like we needed something haha. The young lad was also dead helpful and nice in directing where to store our bikes. Aside from that, the whole pub looked top, a proper pub, and although I don't live in the area we are in Woodford now and again so we'll visit next time for sure. Thanks for sorting us out! x

Let's start with the positives. The food at Davenport Arms is undeniably good, with a standout offering being their Sunday roast. The hearty, home-cooked fare is a comforting delight, served with all the trimmings However, amidst the charm and warmth of Davenport Arms, there's a notable downside that patrons may find hard to overlook: the toilets are located outside. While this may add to the pub's rustic appeal for some, for others, it can be an inconvenience, especially during inclement weather or for those with mobility issues. Another aspect that may leave patrons feeling less than enthused is the price of a pint of Guinness. At a hefty £6.65, it's a steep mark-up compared to other pubs in the area, and even in the bustling centre of Manchester. This pricing anomaly has led some to dub the establishment "Thieves Neck," a second name that certainly gives one pause for thought. So, why the exorbitant price for a pint of the black stuff? While it's difficult to say for certain without insider knowledge, one can speculate that factors such as location, overhead costs, and perhaps even a desire to maintain an air of exclusivity may contribute to the inflated price tag. Whatever the reason, it's a point worth considering for budget-conscious patrons who may think twice before returning for another round.

Been to this pub over the years and always thought it was quite nice, but now, new owners and a new look and it's absolutely fabulous. Lovely friendly staff, a nice menu which has really high end sandwiches (hot beef, posh fish fingers etc) plus a nice range of large mains. Beer and wine choices excellent and two lovely outdoor beer garden areas. Definitely dog friendly outdoors we didn't take the dogs inside so I couldn't clarify that but very friendly people I'm sure nothing will be a problem.

We call it "Thief's Neck"!.. nice local pub near us which we walk to through countryside..beer is excellent..it's a Robinson brewery..my favourite being Old Tom!..the staff are very polite and welcoming..the pub has several small rooms inside..but plenty of outdoor seating front and rear..food wise.. personally we haven't eaten here..but our grand daughter was with us recently and she and her boyfriend did..they both had"steak sandwich" and she described it as "thinner than my patience"!..she showed it to me..and it was extremely thin..in a big thick bun!..but I've given it 5 stars.. because we like it!.. update..we called yesterday.. New year's Day.. I was told that I was not allowed to buy a pint of Old Tom because it was "too strong".. I didn't want that..as I asked for half and half..mixed with bitter..the guy behind the bar seemed confused..so I said" just give me a pint of Old Tom please"..nope..not allowed..no signs.. despite the fact that they sell it on draught!🤔

Visited for Sunday afternoon lunch / dinner. It wasn’t possible to book a table so we had a bit of a wait when we arrived, which was fine - bar staff were friendly and there was a good local pub atmosphere in the bar area. We were seated in one of the two small dining areas which was cosy and comfortable enough. The choice of food on the menu was good - with a children’s menu available. The portions were all generous so in the end we were glad we didn’t opt for starters, Roast Turkey, roast beef, beef and ale pie and the kids beef burgers were all great choices. Restaurant was dog friendly (one of the main reasons we chose this pub) and food orders had to be placed at the bar. Overall a pleasant and warm atmosphere with good home cooked food.

I had almost given up on going out for Sunday lunch as I usually thought I could do better at home. I nearly didn’t order the roast based on past experience, so pleased I did, it was exceptional. Comfortable surroundings and staff attentive but not pushy. Well worth a visit.
