Sheridans in Wirral

Having eaten well and received excellent service here in the past, I write this review more in sorrow, than anything else. The service my friend and I received this lunchtime, was appalling. Firstly, we waited some 15 minutes before a member of staff actually took our order for two Sunday lunches. We then waited; and continued to wait until we saw other customers, who had arrived after us, receiving their meals. We then spoke to one member of staff who apologised saying the kitchen had lost our order. But instead of prioritising us, other customers continued to receive their orders before us. To make matters worse, apart from that one member of staff, the manager couldn’t have cared any less. In conclusion, it’s sad to see the declined of a place that was once renowned for service and the high quality of its food. If Sheridans continues like this, it won’t be open for much longer.

One day they are open the next closed. One day serving food the next not, nothing on website. This place was getting better, now its on a downhill slope.Its a shame but save your money and go elswhere

Worst place I've ever stayed and got bitten to death from bed bugs avoid this place its shockingly dirty and run down also the first room i was put in hadn't even been cleaned

fantastic place to stay and great value and the staff and accommodation was fantastic great food and great entertainment would recommend this place

Went on Saturday 12 August. Food was absolutely superb,best pub meal i have had all year, and not overpriced.. Great service from bar/ waitress.

Het personeel was aardig en behulpzaam, de kamer ruim en schoon, en de bedden heerlijk zacht. We hebben zelfs 9 uur geslapen. Maar in het trappengat, de gangen en de gedeelde badkamers deed de verlichting het niet. Gelukkig hebben we mobiele telefoons met zaklampfunctie. Beneden in de bar waar we wat gingen drinken, is de verlichting hard en ongezellig evenals de muziek.

Me and my partner stayed for a weekend room was clean but we had no hot water and when there was it was bearley worm when I complained I got spoke to like durt I felt its cause I wasn't a regular or even from Merseyside they don't do breakfast or even discount on there food if you stay nor on drinks no working WiFi I really wouldn't recommend it to no-one

Went for fish and chips lunch with partner. Chips really crispy and fluffy in the middle, like twice cooked perhaps. Fish was a good size and really nice. All for a fiver, think fish alone at a chippy are over four quid. Nice staff and room to park. Whats not to like?

Went today for Sunday lunch only 2 problems they need to update there website as prices advertised online are standard roast £6.95 it’s actually £8.95 and mega is on line priced at £8.95 when it’s £10.95! Still okay, the food was nice but not enough gravy so was very dry, asked for no mash as I don’t like it but got exactly the same as my husband, same amount of broccoli carrots roasties beef not even a extra something to contemplate having no mash, the Yorkshire puddings were very disappointing I buy better for my own roasts they tasted like my sister in laws smart price ones! Again need to update website as it’s advertised as all home made they were quite clearly cheap shop bought ones, phots look like everything home made! wasn’t really impressed with the beef either very dry and again no gravy over the beef or in the Yorkshire pudding, only nice thing was the stuffing but again not enough gravy so was eating a burnt on the outside fry in the middle stuffing ball

My husband and I went on Sunday for our lunch, My husband had a Chicken Burger and fries, which he said was very tasty. I had the standard size Roast lamb dinner, which was excellent. The roast dinners are the best, and they have a good varied menu during the week, and Wednesday they have roast dinners. Will be going back very soon. The staff very helpful and friendly.

Went for Sunday Roast choice was very good. plenty of meat and veg. One of our party had a huge piece of gammon which was tender. We weren't rushed between courses and the service was great. Friendly staff and wished two of our party a happy birthday Excellent value for money

Just had a midweek roast at Sheridans. So tasty. The best roast I've eaten in a long time. All homemade. Staff were lovely. Price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend. Yummy

While I have no doubt that pub landlords and restauranteurs crave popularity, it can sometimes come with unintended disadvantages. A friend and I had lunch today in Sheridan’s and, while the food was up to its usual high standard, the atmosphere and service left something to be desired. We both had the Sunday roast; my friend had lamb and I had the mixed meat option. My lunch, including a pint of lime and soda, cost £10.95. The quality of the food was excellent and there was plenty of it. My friend opted for lamb and he was very satisfied with his meal. The problem for Sheridan’s is that it is becoming very popular and I formed the impression that the staff are finding this additional work to be very stressful. They need to decide whether customers have to pre-book or whether they are happy to serve meals to walk-in customers. The other issue for me is that the dining area is in a relatively small part of the pub. As a result, tables are quite close to each other and the noise was earsplitting. There were some families whose children were not being properly supervised and the staff need to tackle that problem when it arises. Overall, it was a satisfactory experience and the food itself represented good value for money. If I go back, I hope it won’t be quite so busy.

Well today The ladies what lunch went to Sheridans in Wallasey village. Oh my what fantastic value it was. Between the 5 of us we had 2 starters - cheese and broccoli soup and breaded mushrooms. Mains were Club sandwich which comes with chips and salad. Chicken and bacon salad which was so full and plenty of chicken and bacon on top of it and coleslaw. Lasagna which came with salad, chips and garlic bread and 2 mid week roasts (sorry the picture I took was very blared) The plates for the roasts were absolutely full. A side order of onion rings. 2 puddings were ordered, these were The biscoff cheesecake and a sheridans sundae. Everything was absolutely delicious and full of flavour and the service was very friendly. Man I don’t need to eat for a week now 🤣🤣

Couldn’t be bothered cooking so went for a last minute feed. I had the mixed grill and my partner had a sort of chicken in sauce thing. Food was quick and good, the steak in the mixed grill was ok and the sausages, surprisingly good. There were a few of the local “lads” in having a bit of banter and it was nice to hear this after so much time in lockdown. The peroni was nice and cold and staff couldn’t do enough for us. All in all a pleasant feed.

Still a pub in the traditional sense, great staff and good prices. Best part is you can still get served when it's busy.

First time out with friends after Covid restrictions lifted, really happy with measures that had been put in place. Felt completely safe whilst eating our meal. A empty table in between all diners, and lovely young girl constantly cleaning throughout. Wouldn't hesitate to go again. Well done. And glad to see you back!

What a nightmare Sunday lunch! Sat for 45 minutes waiting for our meal. When we told the waitress it would have been appreciated if we'd been told there was a wait on food she couldnt have been less interested or more aggressive in her unapologetic response. Clearly, because we arent regulars we were given the worst table, and regulars were arriving and being served quivkly. Big football match on tv meant the sound on all the tvs was turned up full blast. It was just a complete nightmare. Food was decidedly average and not very hot when it did arrive. We couldnt get out quick enough. Never again. Dont bother.

Great pub this...friendly staff and punters and lovely grub. Well worth the trip from my own area. We look forward to our next visit 😀

We attended the Bonfire Night party at Sheridans last night. What an amazing evening. Well organised bonfire, the most glorious fireworks, and to top it all, the best burgers anywhere! I seriously crave them .... the whole evening was a delight. The staff are well mannered and obliging and the team are led by Su who goes above and beyond for her customers. A really memorable evening.

Recently ate here and the staff were very attentive, especially our waitress Harley, all without being overbearing. Food was a real highlight with the meat kebab (specials board) a highlight. All mains were tasty and cooked to perfection. Very reasonably priced and will be returning.

Stayed here for the Grand National for two nights. Excellent value, clean room and good facilities, attentive hosts, great pub downstairs with friendly locals, really added to our weekend. Thanks to all at Sheridans.

Lovely food, great service, provided balloons to decorate room was really lovely. Set menu or you could have a main and pudding. Every thing was great the pudding was a bit overpriced.

Me and my mates and my staff went their for lunch which is tasty and yummy. The food was hot and spot on with good services. The staff were helpful and welcoming then we came back again for a drink. Your chips are the best means homemade at last.

stayed here as we were attending a family party in the area, Harley checked us in and was more than helpful, rooms were clean and basic, we stayed in the en-suite family room and we were at the back of the hotel so was nice and quiet, we had a meal here before we went out and again Harley served us and she was again more than helpful including booking us a taxi to get to the venue and making sure we had numbers to get back, food was lovely, we also had the breakfast the next morning and again it was lovely and the staff were great again, will stay here again no problem.

I have been here quite a few times and the roast was always lovely but the last few times it has been cold. At least on 2 occasions I had to ask for it to be heated up but after today I won't be going again. Such a shame

12 of us travelled from all different places of the country. This place was fantastic for what we needed. Very clean and tidy. Nicely decorated and spacious rooms. Lots of little bits we didn’t expect. The staff where fantastic and I’ll definitely be staying there when I go to Liverpool again. Thanks to all there especially the girl doing breakfast she was so lovely, and couldn’t have helped us anymore especially with my hangover requests.

The food was lovely but the service was really slow when ordering and coming to collect the empty plates but they did say they were short staffed. Would go again hopefully the service will be better

First visit, visited on Fathers Day and found eating area and surroundings non too clean, very well worn and would benefit greatly from an overhaul, I am not going to list all the things I found fault with as there were many, instead I am going to comment on the young waitress who dealt with our order, was clearly working very hard and so pleasant and we all had the Sunday lunch and we could not fault the food.

Since my last revue of this venue, (Hot Potatoes), my wife and I have been regular visitors for Sunday Lunch, having returned some 30 times or so since last August and I have to say that usually, the standards that impressed us on our first 2 visits, have been maintained. Usually. However.......yesterdays visit has made us rethink our future Sunday Lunch plans. It seems that whenever Harley is not there, the place drops its standards somewhat and this visit exemplified that observation

Not busy. Two tables and us 5. 40 mins and waiting. My stomach thinks my throat has been cut. Hope it's worth the wait!

My cousin & I came to Sheridan’s for lunch, we were both hoping to get jacket potatoes but were absolutely shocked to see the prices £6.50 they are served with a salad garnish and homemade coleslaw (which is a complete lie). You can get pub classic meals for 45p extra. This is a real shame - I’ve been to most pubs on the Wirral and jacket potatoes are no were near as expensive as this. Also the current menu is completely dull and would definitely put me off coming back. Hopefully management will hear the voices of Wallasey and sort it out ASAP.

12 of us went to Sheridan's for Mothers Day. You could choose between 1, 2, or 3 courses. We all had a roast dinner, some had starters and we all had desserts. The food was really delicious and the roast potatoes were to die for. I had lamb and it was really succulent. Desserts and starters were really nice too. Great value for money and the staff are all really nice.

This place just keeps getting better with every visit !!!!. Once again th3 staff were all polite, attentive, well informed. This time I opted for the chilli dog this time and how glad I did it was cooked to perfection by chef Paddy, I was brought loaded chilli fries and was told they were free with my hot dog how good is that????. My fiance chose the roast dinner which she thoroughly enjoyed. Sheridan is going from strength to strength. I look forward to returning next time. Well done to all involved.

I ordered what the menu said was a slice of steak pie. What I got was a bowel with steak and gravy and a very large puff pastry top. The chips were undercooked and the peas were hard. When I brought this to the attention of the manageress I was told that is the way they now do it. No apology for the poor quality of the food .The place used to be brilliant until they changed the Chef and the menu.It's a shame because it used to be so good. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Visited this venue twice now consecutively for Sunday lunch and I have to say, that apart from my dear old mum's and my wife's roast dinner, the one served here is the best I have ever eaten out. The mega roast is just that...mega. 3 types of meat, all cooked to perfection, roast potatoes that actually look and taste like roast potatoes, mash potato, 2 veg, stuffing and enough gravy to re-float the Titanic in. All piping hot, served by extremely pleasant staff and served promptly. Cannot fault the dinner, service and pleasantness that is given.

Good all round boozer with decent pub grub at a very affordable price. Find a spot to watch the football, sit at the bar, sit down on a table with friends. All coveted.

Uno siempre tan pequeña crítica; el lugar es muy limpio, pero sea lo que sea que laven los pisos con olores muy fuertes e hizo la zona del restaurante y pub inicialmente desagradable. Una vez que el pub marchita rápidamente habían abierto un corto tiempo, pero deberían utilizar un producto diferente.

We visited Sheridans for a wake and were set aside in a room on the other side of the bar, which was a nice touch so that you could be with family and friends without the regulars being disturbed or vice versa. There was a...

We went as a large group of around 20 people. Have to say that the quality of the food was excellent, service couldn't be faulted. Excellent value for money. Never been before but sure we will be back soon.

Yo y mis damas nos alojamos aquí la noche antes de mi boda, y honestamente puedo decir que tuvimos una estancia fantástica! La habitación familiar compartimos tenía un enorme baño cabina. La habitación era muy espaciosa, con un montón de té y café, etc. para refrescos.

Un grupo de amigos y yo fuimos para nuestra comida de Navidad antes de Navidad, la comida y el servicio eran geniales y no teníamos prisa que ya habíamos pedido que ayudaron al personal. Tuve Gingerbread Cheesecake que estaba para morirse. Todos disfrutamos de nuestras comidas bien hecho volveremos

Booked this last minute as Travelodge was so expensive for the Saturday night. Was a bit unsure as hotel above a pub, but had a great stay. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Room was clean with fresh bedding and had a good nights sleep. Had a full English breakfast next morning and again this did not disappoint, full marks for a fantastic stay. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

V rámci ubytování jsme si za 5£ na osobu přiobjednali i snídani ve stylu Full English Breakfast. Ta byla opravdu výborná a velikostí naprosto dostačující. Neomezená konzumace nápojů byla příjemným doplňkem. Slečna servírka byla velmi ochotná a pravidelně se ptala, zda něco nepotřebujeme.

Even though the eating area is small, and can be ALITTLE cramped the food is excellent they can accommodate my mother whom is gluten free. As long as I ring up, book a table and take her own gravy and Yorkshire puddings. I have been before but my mother hasn't.

Recently attended Sheridans for a family wedding and we all thoroughly enjoyed it, the staff were superb all very friendly and remembered everyones name and what they had ordered, we were all amazed as there were near enough 60 of us to remember ! The daytime set up was lovely including chair covers and bows, and the balloons and nothing was too much, a real classy setup. The wine was flowing and the food was delicious, plenty to fill you up. We all thoroughly enjoyed the day and the evening. With minimum disruption the room was changed round to accommodate the evening as the drinks kept flowing the DJ set up and we danced the night away. The atmosphere was lovely, everyone appeared to have a ball, what a fab venue for a wedding.

Popped in for some lunch before we went on our holidays .We were very warmly welcomed by Joey from behind the bar who also led us to a seat. We explained that we were a bit pushed for time as we had a plane to catch but we were assured that it wouldn't be a problem. Joey took our food and drink order. Then in what seemed like no time at all our food arrived beautifully presented and piping hot... I chose the new Philly cheese burger and loaded fries and what a treat it was !!!..fantastic food and service thanks Joey and Chef Spud ..10/10

First of all the board outside said £5.95 for sunday roast, we ordered at the bar and asked for two lamb dinners for which we were charged £7.45. When we asked why it was so much we were told it had gone up a month ago but they had not changed it on the board outside and lamb was £1.00 extra which we were not told when we placed our order. When we got our dinner it was very poor the peas were cheap frozen and not much meat at all. Would not recommend this pub and will not be going back.

The staff were really helpful and friendly. Food was good. Nice layout with separate dining area, bar and lounge aswell as large beer garden. Thumbs up all around.

Called in on a Tuesday afternoon with my 90year old friend and had a wonderful meal. Fish was just right with not too much batter. The homemade steak pie was tender and really packed full of good meat with a rich gravy. Will be back.Bar/ Person waiter was first class and although this was my first visit, I left feeling I had been there plenty of times.

Been few times very clean very friendly food really good had sons wedding in here in 2011 the staff made his and daughter in laws wedding day amazing we been it there good few times since can't fault the place it great

My wife and I were visiting from Florida and my relatives took us there for the Liverpool - Man City Cup Final match.Great atmosphere in the place and good friendly staff. The Sunday roast was delicious and reasonably priced. The pints were flowing and we all had a fab time other than the disappointing result of the match. Liverpool lost.Thanks for your hospitality Sheridans.

Iv been going here for years now I have moved away I go when I visit friends. Great service the team behind the bar are very friendly. Great food great nights with karaoke and football watching.

my friend and I ate here for the 1st time.I had fish,chips and mushy peas...my fish was dry,like eating cardboard.My friend gave his meal 6/10.We won't be rushing back.The service was OK but could have been a bit more welcoming.Quite a noisy pub with a fair amount of industrial language flying about.

We stayed just the night to attend a christening, but we were both taken back by the warm welcome we received and how friendly the staff (and regular guests alike!) were in helping us. The young lad in the bar even went so far as disturbing his sister to make sure my other half had a hair dryer! If your looking for a place to rely on that will serve a purpose, stay in wonderful Wallesey at Sheridans.

I and my family went for Fathers day Lunch here and we all had varied meals, the Sunday roast dinners comprised 2 small bits of chicken swimming in a sea of gravy and the turnip veg was off, others had pasta meals or burgers which were tasteless and bland, and when we pointed out there was problem we were just dismissed as we had got it wrong, I am an ex Chef and one of my friends has just come back from working at Ascot races as Chef for the £1000 a ticket guests, we know you get what you paid for But !! it was disgusting, and the Landlady had a face like thunder at us for the rest of the stay.

Travelled over the water to a charity event held at this pub. It is a lively and friendly pub with a buzzing atmosphere. I didn't eat here but saw food coming out of the kitchen and it certainly looked good!

My friend and I went early evening the food was very tasty I had the Fish & Handmade Chips they even gave me the peas I liked without any fuss. The staff couldn't have been more helpful even though they were expecting a large party in not long after we arrived. They came to check that our food was how we wanted it and were very pleasant at all times. I have been here several times both lunch and evening and have never been disappointed

A bunch of friends and I came to here for a long weekend, the staff were incredibly helpful, the rooms were lovely and the food was stunning. Not too far from liverpool city and it had its own loverly bar if you want a quiet night in. I simply cannot wait to go back. Anyone looking for a great experience I would recommend this place highly!

As someone who visits the Mersey region at least once a year to see family and friends and considers it my favourite place in the world the Sheridan blew me away!Extremely helpful and polite staff, amazing value for room size and quality, as much as I love staying in the city centre like I usually do, for the sake of ease and getting to where I'm going, I am tempted to stay here again!Also, the actual pub has a great vibe, service, food and is extremely decently priced. A+ all across the board from me!

I have been to Sheridans on many occasions, always impressed. The staff go out of their way to be helpful and often change the menu to suit the client. A particular meal was for my whole family with ages ranging from 4 yrs - to 64 yrs, all well catered for. Cannot fault the food, excellent home cooking!

Really good food and offering great value for money. Staff really polite. Can't really complain about anything. It was Shrove Tuesday and they even through in free pancakes for the kids.

I booked a table for 7 friends and found the staff very friendly and attentive. We ordered a mix of home cooked dishes from the menu and were all pleased with the hot, tasty meals and the good portion size. We had a good overall experience and will return again.

Went over to Wallasey from Liverpool to attend a 50th Birthday Party, Superb staff and a superb place, Had a lovely meal Saturday teatime Homemade Steak pie and Steak for my other half, Enjoyed the party in the night in a very busy packed place and stayed the night at a cost of just £40 for a spacious double bedroom, No check out time so came down at 11am to have a massive cooked breakfast cooked for us all fresh then went and collected our luggage and drove 5 mins to the sea front to blow away the cobwebs and cure the hangover, Defo going to visit again so thank you all the staff for making our visit very pleasing indeed

Over the past few years the present management have transformed this pub/restaurant to a family friendly pub that works with the area to act as the local village pub the manageress always has something happening special offers ,inflatables and celebrating any occasion.The food is homemade and a good price and tasty all in all a great place to visit .
