Staff are amazing big shout out to ray.hope.sarah.. Taylor Reagan and Sam. They all put up with a pub that is so badly run . Got loads of staff but you still have to question behind people ordering food .bar side never manned people walking out all the time sick of waiting.no control over kids running riot and playing on the pool table..beer keeps going up it's now one of the dearest pubs to drink in on the wirral £4.35 for the cheapest lager .

I've been here a few times recently, for both food and drinks, and it's always been great service with great food and drinks. The new menu is really good and has some great deals for every day of the week. All the staff are very warm and welcoming, especially Sarah who helped out a lot every time.

Well where do I start. Checked in on a 1 night stay. 1st impressions was 1 of a dated interior at reception with good reception staff. Got to my room and was instantly treated with a damp musky smell which was very unpleasant. Then had a look about the room to find damp in the corner of the main room, very dated dirty mouldy bathroom,tiles and grout. Electrical equipment well overdue for pat testing and didnt even work although is still wired to working switch outside bathroom. Human hair on and around the wc. Tv remote that won't turn off unless you turn off at the plug. Went into the pub for an evening meal. Overall the food recieved was ok. However what was on the menu wasn't what we received. My wife's meal should of come with chips and onion rings but came with a limp side salad and dry jacket potato. The steak that should of been 8oz (uncooked) was nowhere near it and the chicken was very watery and tasteless. The waiting staff quite unprofessional. Left tables with dirty dishes for at least 30 mins after customers had left (maybe longer). When the labels were cleared and wiped the table still had food on it, menu on the floor and chairs still all over the place and not pushed in. The bar staff that brought our drinks just dumped the drinks on the table and ran without saying a word. The whole property needs better cleaning staff with mass cobwebs above windows. I think that about sums up my experience which was a poor one if I'm honest. Very disappointed with this branch of a usually good chain

Visited this pub with family for evening meal. The food was good and service and hospitality was excellent. Would visit again.

first time here for a while, the food was great value, very tasty. Definitely one of the best Green kings on the Wirral. There was a server think her name was Adeene who recommended us some lovely dishes and showed my kids where to find the play areas. Great service. Will be back!

We come here a lot as its very local to us usually our visits have been pleasant as there's a play area for the children great prices and good food. But I must say over the last few visits I have found the staff unhelpful and leave you standing when they can clearly see you and they just walk off like your not even there but yesterday topped it we came for my daughters birthday I handed the cake to the bar staff and asked if they could bring it out lady who I spoke to was lovely and said of course do you want us to sing happy birthday so I said yes please and she took my daughters name and she put it in the fridge. We had our food and then I went up and asked for the cake about half 6 I was told they would bring it out soon so I went back to the table half hour passed and the younger children where starting to get tired my friend went and asked again for the cake to be brought out again We was told it would be out soon in mean time we seen them bringing other cakes out with the candles lit. The children started getting bored as we where trying to keep them at the table ready then when my daughter went to the bar to ask for some water they said are you Leah so it was obvious what was going on. Then my son ended up giving the surprise away cos of how long we where sat waiting after 2 hours my friend and her children had to go as her buses are every hour and it was already half 8. In mean time they even brought a staff member a cake out with candles lit and sang happy birthday my son who has additional needs was really starting to get fed up so I asked for 3rd time they brought it out with the candles on but not lit and they lit it at the table then walked off they didn't sing happy birthday as promised we where all very disappointed even when we did try to approach staff they just walked past us like we weren't there. Am not sure we will be visiting again as like I said I feel like it's gone down hill lately due to the staffs attitude towards the customers

So disgraceful. We waited for an hour and fifty minutes for our food and had to ask several times to see if it was coming. No communication. I even asked for a cloth to wipe the table myself. There wasn’t even time to complain as we had a ferry to catch.

Visited on Tuesday food was good as always. Sam on the bar was very helpful in sorting out a table for us. Holly I think her name was she was really friendly.

The food was definitely not as good as it used to be unfortunately and the staff seem very miserable... Haven't been there for a while and I was surprised that we now have to make our own hot drinks. Got given a cup with hot chocolate powder and told to use the machine. Not a huge issue but both drinks we had were not very warm at all and to be honest it wasn't very nice. My husband ordered the sloppy Joe for breakfast and I can honestly say it didn't look edible. My breakfast was ok but nothing special. Unfortunately I don't think we will be returning.

Lovely food , not stayed here but easy too get too

Great pub. Very big inside with lots of seating areas & tables. Very child friendly with a small soft place inside. Outdoor park also. Two car parks either side of the pub so always plenty to park. Menu option was very wide, plenty to choose from. We opted for the mixed grill and it didn’t disappoint. Very cheap too. Each day of the week will have a special “deal” for example Sundays was any 2 roasts for around £13/£14. (Can’t remember exactly). Would return here again.

Went in for dinner this week, food was very good and plenty if it. Staff were friendly attentive. We go for dinner around once a month, it's always good 👍

Good menu choice. Generous portions and good value for money. Fast service and all staff were very pleasant. Thoroughly recommend.

Hotel looks good but the carpet in my room was filthy dirty with stains everywhere.

Kitchen closed 5 mins earlier then we was told by staff, no willing to help out Aviod

Food cold ,and undercooked had to wait over half an hour for food.

Food was good & very reasonably priced. Breakfast was tasty, either a full breakfast or continental breakfast was on offer with the room. Room are basic but clean and very good for a location base. I really enjoyed my 4 night break away. We ate dinner there twice, and breakfast each morning. Staff were very welcoming & helpful.

Honestly the place itself is nice and clean what you would expect for the price. Is there was a star I could click for staff it would 100 percent be 5 star!! I'd like to mention hayleigh and gemma They were amazing and saved my day!! I was staying over the night before a wedding and in the morning put my brand new dress on only to find a hole in the bottom of fhe seam on my dress! The team could not have been more amazing and accommodating!! Gemma managed to get a sewing kit from off premises with the correct colour of thread and hayleigh sewed it for me whilst also giving me safety pins incase !! They went way above and beyond their duty!! They absolutely saved my day and my dress held all night! Forever grateful!! These ladies are a credit to the hotel!

The rooms are a little old fashioned but really didn't bother us because it was such a lovely place so quiet the staff were so so lovely we stayed for easy access to the city for Taylor Swift and one of the staff was so chatty and lovely really made us feel so welcome thank you :)

Had Breakfast this morning which was fine, only thing thing that was an issue was the hot drinks machines where infested with flies bit of a turn off 😕 Staff were great and helpful ☺️

Spur of the moment decision to come here and I'm glad I did, I had the lasagna and salad and my boyfriend had the mini mixed grill ( which was quite big for a mini). Both meals were lovely and filling and the staff were lovely, courteous and helpful. We attended on klopps last football match, so even got to watch the match which was unexpected. Lovely couple of hours spent and would definitely go back again 🙂

A time may come where they operate more than one till, and the queue does not extend to almost out of the door - but it is not this day! Food's nice, although menu definitely lacking in smaller meals.

A nice pub, really friendly staff. Caught lots of lovely sun in the beer garden. Can't comment on the food or hotel area as we only stayed for a couple of drinks but we had a nice time. Its not our usual local (which is also a hungry horse) but we were in the area for a couple of days and thought we'd give it a try. Will definitely be back next time we're here and give the food a try. *Edit* We came back for a breakfast this morning and it was absolutely spot on... especially for the price and 2 for 1

Attended for breakfast this morning and ordered scrambled egg on toast with a side of beans. Glad I ordered the beans, as the amount of scrambled egg only covered 1 piece of toast !! I had the same the week before and the difference in quality was noticeable this week. Adene who took our order was nice and friendly, and apologised for the lack of scrambled egg. The portion I did have, was really nice...xx

Was told when ordering kids meal that it enclosed only 1 veg and 1 side when I wanted 1 side 2 veg,but I quickly ordered an extra side and did for it, 99p extra I believe , so that was fine but odd that girl at bar did not suggest i do that. Realised after meals that it should have had a pudding too but apparently because I did not order this at the time, I could not get as part of the meal deal even though its advertised, why could they not have asked this at the time of ordering if they knew it was meant to come with a pudding. Food was nice enough but disappointed with service.

Visited from the tea after doing some shopping. The Food was hot when it arrived just how it should be and really enjoyed what we had. Service was fast and efficient Jow was lovely friendly and bubbly her customer service skills were great

Came today with my friends for brunch had lovely food pub classic fish and chips and scampi and much peas worth £11.49 for both was served by jow always smiling and makes time for the customers even Adene running round it’s been a pleasant visit and will be be visiting again soon

Came for lunch with my friends and was greated with a smile and my order was taken by a lady called jow she explained what the daily deals were and we had a fussy eater with us and she was back and forth to the kitchen asking questions to the chef god bless her she never once complained the food was top notch and great value for money the other staff were great to running around clearing tables ect will we definitely be back 100%

Food was lovely and came really quickly. Restaurant has recently been refurbished and looks lovely. Jow was brilliant and so friendly. Will definitely be back.

The plag area should be a book before you come type of thing. It gets hectic and not enough room. The bigger children pretty much take over and it just becomes a nightmare, I'd suggest go school time when the kids are in school. The rest of the pub is pretty quiet but that play area is madness. I feel they should have a member of staff atleast check the age range of children and the amount of children that do use the play area at a time, I'd say the limit should cap at about 7 kids a time, or make it bigger

Bit chavvy but good honest and reasonably priced food

We got great customer service from Sammy, Sammy checked the we ordered the correct food because we ordered vegetarian and non vegetarian food, Sammy asked if what we ordered was correct she very polite.

We had a 2 night stay. A problem occurred and Regan went above and beyond to sort it for us. On our 2nd night, he made sure that everything went smoothly and again went above and beyond. We would recommend the Royal Oak to all. 5*

Amazing kids enjoyed being here food was made to perfection kids play area kept them entertained staff was amazing very talkative and interacted with us and spoke to us nicely except 1 lady who was walking round with face and snarling but can't fault any other staff absolutely amazing place and il be back x

Clean room, comfy bed, enough pillows polite staff, good breakfast! What more do you want. Excellent

Would like to compliment Leasha. She went above and beyond looking after me with food allergies. Customer service was great. Lovely girl.

We are constant returners to this place as the food is so good. The menu is pretty standard but the quality of the food served is high. Mt family enjoyed their three courses immensely. We dined on burgers, steaks and pasta and all enjoyed to the full. We were given plenty of time to eat and not hurried and left fully satisfied.

Just can not find fault in anything here. Staff absolutely amazing. Rooms spacious and clean. Food was lovely. Not expensive. What's not to like. Thanks to all at the royal oak for making our long journey up from Cornwall a lovely weekend ❤️

Not long had refit/decorated. food was hot and value for money as some offers on during the week, not long to wait for food after ordering. can very noisy when its busy. if going at busy times, it's best to book ahead.

Fantastic food service was excellent from Kelly lovely environment, friendly staff, quick service and perfect for watching the football.

Had a lovely experience at the Royal oak clean friendly and the staff was great infact one member called jow couldn't help enough was back and forth not just from r table from everyone's table that lady never stopped the whole time we was there was a lovely place to eat and will definitely be back again

Customer service was outstanding! Jow couldn't of done more for us, from helping my blind mum to a seat to checking everything was OK throughout our visit. If you want to go for a catch up lunch with your mum and have exceptional customer service the Royal Oak bromborough is the place to go. Staff greet us with a smile and very good service always. Food is always tasty and adequate portions. altogether a good atmosphere. I recommend this place to anyone who considers dining here. Libby is always nice towards us . And other staff are very responsive and respect their customers which we like

Came with friends for food and drinks was created with a smiled from Regan and Jow served me took my order even advised me that certain alcohol beverages were on offer (which to me was a great deal) and what deals that were on offer tonight food was great piping hot and great price will definitely be coming back for a re-visit

Shout out to Kelly and all the other wonderful staff. Reasonably priced decent food and super fast service. The free play area is always a hit with the little ones. Love we get our nhs discount on an already reasonably priced menu. The refurb has smartened up the place and unlimited hot drinks is a great addition

An excellent hostelry close to Bromborough Cross. Good public transport links to Birkenhead, Liverpool, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire Oaks, and Chester. A fine selection of Beers, Wines and Sprits. Excellent food. There is also rooms available for the night if you wish to stay.

Amazing service by jow and regan they both went the extra mile for me nothing was too much trouble, the food was beautiful and the steak was cooked to perfection

Excellent food, great service and everything was absolutely 5* up until server Aaron cleared my plate before my partner had finished her food. Very poor service etiquette, and I did make a comment to him about this, yet he continued to take my plate. This made my partner feel very awkward and rushed. Seems harsh to give a 1* although I am sure this would push a lot of guests into a 1* review.

I haven't experienced the hotel but the food is very good the mixed grill very nice and the breakfast spot on burgers are very nice I userly get the burgers but tried the breakfast that was so nice the mane thing is the staff when they ask u everything OK its a good thing because if there's something wrong with the food they will sort it Yes I will continue coming here it's clean and your can chill out and there is a play room for the kids Jow with a w is lovely and tells u if there any offers as your at the till thumb up to that all of the staff help out with what you need

Went for food last week for my daughter’s birthday food was lovely and the service was amazing . Enjoyed the visit will deffo be coming back for food .

Would have given it a 5 star but went there with my little daughter and partner for a meal at about 1pm to find little to no separation between the bar locals who had been drinking for some time it seems, and the food area, we ate quickly and left as I didn’t feel comfortable with my daughter exposed to such fruitful language and broad topics of conversation. (Most polite way I can put it) so great if you fancy a beer and a banter, not so great for a relaxed family meal. Otherwise everything else was nice.

Nice hotel, although a couple of minus points. Plusses are Friendly & helpful staff, Decent size room, Comfy bed, clean & tidy, nice size bathroom, good pub attached food was excellent & service great. Minuses Shower didn't work properly in my room - water was scalding hot with no cold coming through to lower temperature ( mixer tap not working) - lady on reception allowed me to use an unoccupied room for shower tho. Soundproofing not great - I could hear next door room & also upstairs alarm & them walking around which was annoying as I was working nights & not long been asleep. Other than these two things an excellent stay & would happily go back again when working up this way.

The place is a Zoo.. kids running around the whole pub screaming . Adults drunk on a Sunday afternoon shouting requests at each other over our table while we were eating. Ordered a turkey roast with the 2 pound upgrade but when it came it was pitiful with 2 thin slices of turkey, 1 extra Yorkshire pudding but no extra veg. The 6 half or even quarters of roast potatoes wouldn't probably equal a full large potato if put together. Took ages to get drinks . Just a really poor experience. Parents should have better control over there kids and staff should be reminding parents to keep their kids in the play area not just letting them run around the entire pub screaming... Save your sanity on a Sunday and go elsewhere.

We came for quiz night and arrived early for food. The service was quick and excellent. Sammie and Jow made sure we were looked after with excellent customer services skills and checking the food was up to standard even after being rushed off there feet...

Had a really lovely, tasty meal. Great value, very good choice of vegetarian options and really friendly, helpful staff and prompt service. Aaron/Shaun was particularly friendly and helpful and also very efficient.

The system of queuing up for food& drink at only 1 till is the most ludicrous system I have ever come across.This must have been devised to drive customers away!Staff were doing their best to keep customers happy.If this system continues I will not be returning,and as a Bromborough resident will pick another establishment close by.It is a very competitive market and only the best will survive.This establishment is far from the best.Must do better.
