This place is a joke if you want a drink. The main bar never has anyone behind the bar (one person would do) cause all their interested in is the restaurant side. Lad came round from the restaurant side on Saturday night and says, be round if I get a chance. Absolute crap.

I regularly visit here with family and friends Definitely one of the best breakfast places in the Wirral. The atmosphere when you walk in is very friendly and staff always greets you with a warm welcome and friendly smile. The pub is always extremely clean and comfortable with no clutter whatsoever The staff are always very friendly helpful and welcoming. They always go out of the way to make sure visitors feel comfortable. Especially when Kelly is there working. The menu has something to suit everybody’s tastes with a good selection on offer and a price tag that won’t break the bank. If your planing a family meal then this is definitely worth a visit

Good ambience, nice food, quick service. Attentive staff. Value for money and clean pub. We always go here as a family and we always enjoy our meal out here. We avail of the promo £5 for some mains. Nothing can't beat that!

Food lovely and quickly served. The biggest disappointment was our upgraded salt and pepper chips- The spices used were chinese spices, which i personally dislike, well over dusted

Visited the pub not long back for a meal with the family! The staff were absolutely brilliant in helping with my disabled grandparent, and they were super friendly! Food was excellent with a great choice to suit even the fussiest of eaters! Excellent value for money also! Will definitely be visiting again in the future

Pub: Staff, evening menu and breakfast excellent value for money. Hotel Room: great value rooms but been staying here for the last 4 months, 4 nights a week in many different room, the TV signal is still flaky and does not work. Over all not a problem for me as I do not watch much tv, but could be a problem for others. But over all a great location with everything in walking distance.

Food was hot and value for money as some offers on during the week, not long to wait for food after ordering. can very noisy when its busy. if going at busy times, it's best to book ahead. Didn't like one of the waitresses circling round our table, clearing plates and condiments away even while others in the party were still eating, she kept returning and looking over the table for more stuff to take away.

Terrible delay today, we were there for 4 and a half hours for Christmas Dinner, no drinks came out and we waited over an hour for each serving. Last year was OK, but they need to pull their socks up on Christmas day, we were starving

Stayed there, room comfortable, WiFi not working for my firestick so had to use mobile phone hotspot. Staff friendly, food good even though I got overcharged when I used the App

Just had breakfast with Santa and what a terrible experience that was! They let you book from 9am for the first slot (which we had) and then don’t tell you that Santa doesn’t turn up until 10. Following this Santa is just doing his own thing instead of going in the order of bookings so it took us 3hrs for him to see us!!! On top of that food was cold and the manager had a terrible attitude. Only saving grace was 1 female member of staff who was a delight.

Table booked 7 pm for 3 people in my group for meal, had to wait 20 minutes in queue as only one person taking orders for meals and drinks , bar staff dead slow stop. Couldn’t fault waitresses they were zooming in and out of kitchen as I was waiting in queue. A group of 4 men in front of me decided to leave and go to the Bromborough pub down the road because waiting for a pint was horrendous. Meal was fine but management need to get staffing on bar sorted out. While the rest of my party were waiting for me to return with drinks it gave them plenty of time to look around. Place is quite dirty, windows are filthy, giant cobwebs in corners, mirrors dirty, general feeling of neglect. Also visited toilets they need repairs, no toilet paper and generally dirty. Management get your act together.

Adene and Meg were brilliant they couldn’t do enough for me my fiancé and baby. Full of smiles and joy.

Staff are friendly and efficient. Good is excellent value for money. I brought my family for breakfast the next morning.

Don't waste your time going here for breakfast. Toast burnt black, no coffee, replaced hash browns with chips and horrible sausages. Waste of time and money

The Royal Oak was in an ideal location for my work trip. The staff in the evening and in the morning were excellent. Adene in particular was brilliant at breakfast, she made everyone comfortable, checked in and even reminded guests of a change of breakfast times over the weekend. Would 100% reccomend.

Staff are an asset to the Royal oak .food is exellent, the hotel section could do with a lick of paint as it looks dated ,the room is was in ,the bathroom extractor fan had the cover missing ,the bed was super comfy ,i had a good nights sleep , i was there for one night and will book again

VERY long wait to be served at the bar - only 1 member of staff on. One person queuing asked a waitress if there was anyone else could help serve but she just looked rather dumbfounded and walked off. Most tables weren't cleared away for the next guests, which made it hard to find a clean table. Not the best Hungry Horse I've been to.

Popped in for breakfast this morning, food was great and staff even better. The self serve coffee station is great! I can’t get enough. Will definitely be back soon

Had to sit on the fence as to where rooms are concerned as we did not stay here, we had our tea here. our tea came out quick and hot, which was more than welcome as we were starving hungry. Service received with smiles. Parking available. Kids welcome and had a mini kids corner

Myself and my wife have just returned from a weekend visit to Liverpool when we arrived at the royal oak to check in we was greeted by hayley at reception with a warm welcome and a smile hayley could not have been more helpful while we where staying.Another great member of staff from the bar and restaurant was Andrew the team leader who also made our stay really great and all the team of the royal oak we are very much looking forward to returning on our next vist to Liverpool.

The staff were absolutely brilliant. Friendly helpful and just lovely people. Rooms were not great but could have been worse .

I will give service 5:5 as after complaining about the potatoes, chewy and inedible warmed in microwave, we ordered two roasts today and I have to say I experienced the worst roast potatoes I have ever had, if anyone has ever tried to put roasties in the microwave after cooked is never going to be a nice experience, even though they did bring a new bowl after complaining they were worse than previous ones,,very inexperienced sorry but it’s a zero mark on food for that reason, all potatoes left on table, even though staff tried. Jeez who is in the kitchen a load of kids running amock

We came to the royal oak for my daughters 6th birthday meal and Kelly Bradley was running the food and she is an outstanding member of staff who goes above and beyond she is amazing and needs more recognition in her work x

Just called in for a pint after our walk. It's a great pub with a good choice of beers and wines. Staff were very quick to serve us and prices were very reasonable. I had a quick read of the menu and there's quite a big selection of meals and prices seem very good value. Will have to call back and try it out.

Called in for food today,can safely say I won't be calling back in a hurry. The food was tepid and overly greasey.

Just got back from what was supposed to be a quick meal on the way home. The food is very good, but the service is awful. The mains arrived about 25 minutes after ordering, which is reasonable. However the desserts didn't show up, despite someone clearing the plates from our table. After around 30 minutes we asked somebody to check on the desserts. He didn't come back. Neither did the second person we asked after another half an hour. After about another 15 minutes they turned up. No apology or acknowledgement of them having taken so long. I'd like to say this was a one off, but sadly it isn't. We had exactly the same experience the last time we came here, earlier this year. At least on that occasion, it was a Friday evening, and they were very busy. This time it was a Thursday at 7pm and they weren't at all busy. We won't be returning

I call in here every week for the quiz and occasionally at the weekend for a breakfast. I called in today for a breakfast and it was pretty busy. The service was still great and the staff are very helpful and polite and professional. A special mention for Kelly who always gives you great service with a smile even if she is rushing around with the orders and never forgets to come back and ask if everything is ok with your meal. Excellent value for money. Keep up the good work !

We recently visited this restaurant with the family, and it was a great experience! First off, it's very kid-friendly, which was a big plus for us. The kids' menu had a good variety to choose from, so everyone found something they liked with nice play area indoors and outdoor. The service was at a reasonable speed— we didn't have to wait too long for our food, even with a fairly large group. The staff were super friendly and accommodating, making sure our group was comfortable. They handle large parties really well, so it’s definitely a good spot for birthdays or family gatherings. Plus, they offer a Blue Light discount, which is a nice touch! As for the food, I highly recommend the Crown Burger – juicy and cooked just right. Their chicken wings and strips were also a hit with our table, crispy and flavorful. And don’t forget the drinks; they have an impressive selection, both for the adults and the kids. Overall, we had a fantastic time, and we’ll definitely be back!

We reserved a table for 16 people for a family occasion. The team were very accommodating and we had the area at the back of the restaurant. The food was beautiful and hot. The chicken skewers were exceptionally tasty and cooked perfectly. There the food came out quickly despite being a large party. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. The kids play area was also great entertainment for the kids of the group. Would highly recommend and we will be back again! Thank you.

Visited on Tuesday food was good as always. Sam on the bar was very helpful in sorting out a table for us. Holly I think her name was she was really friendly.

Terrible service, waitress had a real bad attitude, had to wait over an hour and a half for food, 30 mins for drinks, asked for medium rare steak and got more than well done steak, place wasn't even that busy, booked a table and when we arrived it was already given to someone else, don't know how this place calls itself a restaurant

Been here a couple of times & the fish & chips were good .changed are selection this one time to steak,nothing like the picture,&my partner wanted well done,nearly broke his teeth as it wasn't well done.no peas & 2 eggs?returned his meal & thy gave him another steak which was even worse.will not be returning to this place in the near future.

Arrived with my family and found a table large enough for all 7 of us. Took nearly 15 minutes to get a drink because the staff were so slow. The table we sat at still had dirty glasses and dirty cutlery from previous guests, a staff member came and took one glass and never returned to collect the other glasses or cutlery. No one came to wipe the table which was absolutely filthy and had tonnes of flies landing on bits of food left on the table.The menus were so grubby they were sticky and covered in dried sauce. We didn't stay long enough to order food.

We were a large party and received a friendly welcome. Staff were helpful and patient as we ordered our meals. The food, all three courses, was perfectly cooked and well presented. Portion sizes were generous and good value. The Royal Oak was a relaxed and child welcoming venue for our get together. Thank you to all the staff for contributing to a memorable evening.

Shocking, the food I ordered looked nothing like the picture, and there was bits of the food missing, this is not the first time I've had a bad meal at this place, never eat there again.

Friendly Staff ,really nice food..didn't have to wait too long for our food .However the Mens toilets were not well maintained! With mess on the seats.only thing that let the pub down! Would definitely recommend tho for food,service and its amenities for kids .

We have stayed here a few times now as we are working in the area. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The food is a good standard. A nember called Adene was very happy to cater to our individual requests at breakfast. She is a credit to this establishment. Definitely staying here again 👍👍👍

Could do with more selection on menu

I've been here a few times recently, for both food and drinks, and it's always been great service with great food and drinks. The new menu is really good and has some great deals for every day of the week. All the staff are very warm and welcoming, especially Sarah who helped out a lot every time.

Well where do I start. Checked in on a 1 night stay. 1st impressions was 1 of a dated interior at reception with good reception staff. Got to my room and was instantly treated with a damp musky smell which was very unpleasant. Then had a look about the room to find damp in the corner of the main room, very dated dirty mouldy bathroom,tiles and grout. Electrical equipment well overdue for pat testing and didnt even work although is still wired to working switch outside bathroom. Human hair on and around the wc. Tv remote that won't turn off unless you turn off at the plug. Went into the pub for an evening meal. Overall the food recieved was ok. However what was on the menu wasn't what we received. My wife's meal should of come with chips and onion rings but came with a limp side salad and dry jacket potato. The steak that should of been 8oz (uncooked) was nowhere near it and the chicken was very watery and tasteless. The waiting staff quite unprofessional. Left tables with dirty dishes for at least 30 mins after customers had left (maybe longer). When the labels were cleared and wiped the table still had food on it, menu on the floor and chairs still all over the place and not pushed in. The bar staff that brought our drinks just dumped the drinks on the table and ran without saying a word. The whole property needs better cleaning staff with mass cobwebs above windows. I think that about sums up my experience which was a poor one if I'm honest. Very disappointed with this branch of a usually good chain

first time here for a while, the food was great value, very tasty. Definitely one of the best Green kings on the Wirral. There was a server think her name was Adeene who recommended us some lovely dishes and showed my kids where to find the play areas. Great service. Will be back!

We come here a lot as its very local to us usually our visits have been pleasant as there's a play area for the children great prices and good food. But I must say over the last few visits I have found the staff unhelpful and leave you standing when they can clearly see you and they just walk off like your not even there but yesterday topped it we came for my daughters birthday I handed the cake to the bar staff and asked if they could bring it out lady who I spoke to was lovely and said of course do you want us to sing happy birthday so I said yes please and she took my daughters name and she put it in the fridge. We had our food and then I went up and asked for the cake about half 6 I was told they would bring it out soon so I went back to the table half hour passed and the younger children where starting to get tired my friend went and asked again for the cake to be brought out again We was told it would be out soon in mean time we seen them bringing other cakes out with the candles lit. The children started getting bored as we where trying to keep them at the table ready then when my daughter went to the bar to ask for some water they said are you Leah so it was obvious what was going on. Then my son ended up giving the surprise away cos of how long we where sat waiting after 2 hours my friend and her children had to go as her buses are every hour and it was already half 8. In mean time they even brought a staff member a cake out with candles lit and sang happy birthday my son who has additional needs was really starting to get fed up so I asked for 3rd time they brought it out with the candles on but not lit and they lit it at the table then walked off they didn't sing happy birthday as promised we where all very disappointed even when we did try to approach staff they just walked past us like we weren't there. Am not sure we will be visiting again as like I said I feel like it's gone down hill lately due to the staffs attitude towards the customers

So disgraceful. We waited for an hour and fifty minutes for our food and had to ask several times to see if it was coming. No communication. I even asked for a cloth to wipe the table myself. There wasn’t even time to complain as we had a ferry to catch.

The food was definitely not as good as it used to be unfortunately and the staff seem very miserable... Haven't been there for a while and I was surprised that we now have to make our own hot drinks. Got given a cup with hot chocolate powder and told to use the machine. Not a huge issue but both drinks we had were not very warm at all and to be honest it wasn't very nice. My husband ordered the sloppy Joe for breakfast and I can honestly say it didn't look edible. My breakfast was ok but nothing special. Unfortunately I don't think we will be returning.

Great pub. Very big inside with lots of seating areas & tables. Very child friendly with a small soft place inside. Outdoor park also. Two car parks either side of the pub so always plenty to park. Menu option was very wide, plenty to choose from. We opted for the mixed grill and it didn’t disappoint. Very cheap too. Each day of the week will have a special “deal” for example Sundays was any 2 roasts for around £13/£14. (Can’t remember exactly). Would return here again.

Food was good & very reasonably priced. Breakfast was tasty, either a full breakfast or continental breakfast was on offer with the room. Room are basic but clean and very good for a location base. I really enjoyed my 4 night break away. We ate dinner there twice, and breakfast each morning. Staff were very welcoming & helpful.

Honestly the place itself is nice and clean what you would expect for the price. Is there was a star I could click for staff it would 100 percent be 5 star!! I'd like to mention hayleigh and gemma They were amazing and saved my day!! I was staying over the night before a wedding and in the morning put my brand new dress on only to find a hole in the bottom of fhe seam on my dress! The team could not have been more amazing and accommodating!! Gemma managed to get a sewing kit from off premises with the correct colour of thread and hayleigh sewed it for me whilst also giving me safety pins incase !! They went way above and beyond their duty!! They absolutely saved my day and my dress held all night! Forever grateful!! These ladies are a credit to the hotel!

The rooms are a little old fashioned but really didn't bother us because it was such a lovely place so quiet the staff were so so lovely we stayed for easy access to the city for Taylor Swift and one of the staff was so chatty and lovely really made us feel so welcome thank you :)
