Me, my husband and 5 year old son have just got back from our time here, stayed here for three nights after coming up from Cambridgeshire. We really enjoyed our stay, such friendly staff, we were talking to one staff member about our trips we had planned in Liverpool and Chester zoo and she was happily Chatting with us. The room was plenty big enough and kept clean by the domestic staff who clearly work hard to keep the place so clean. It is dated but we didn’t mind that at all. The kids area was perfect for my son and he loved it there. Food was lovely and we certainly didn’t go hungry!! Well done chefs. Cannot wait to come back in the future!

Nice pub, abit dark in the eating area. It would be nice if the kids could be kept in the child friendly area and not running around the dining area unsupervised. They especially should not be allowed to bring balls out of the ball pond area and throw them across the dining area. I am not great on my feet and they made me very nervous. I was impressed by the barmaid that identified a young woman who had had toomuch to drink and informed her colleges discreetly not to serve her anymore. My white bread was not fresh and a bit too hard. Everything else was exceptional. I really recommend the Katsu chicken special.

We stayed here for 2 nights as I was taking my husband for a birthday visit to Chester Zoo. The hotel is in desperate need of a good refurbishment, the carpet is filthy and bathroom really shabby. The cleaners obviously try their best as the bedding and sides are all clean but everything is so old, tv only goes up channels and volume in 2's so half of the channels can't be watched, the kettle tripped the electric in the room and it was exchanged for kettle with a snapped lid. Food in the pub was nothing special, breakfast cold and greasy but my husband had lovely scrambled eggs. We went for evening meal and I used the Greene King app, the tandoori sizzler i got was nice but chicken could of had more flavour on it, my husband had fish, chips and mushy peas, they must of been waiting for the fish to cook as that was really hot but chips and peas cold. The drinks turned up well after the food even though I did go to the bar to see where they were, really disappointed in our stay. Staff are really friendly but that's the only thing going for it, its just such a tatty, outdated hotel, wish the reviews were more honest as we wouldn't of stayed here.

I stayed here for two nights on a business trip and have to say it's good value for money. The room is okay, clean, and big enough, but the entire hotel is very old-fashioned. The restaurant is a bit reminiscent of Weatherspoons; there's a good selection of inexpensive dishes. I had the large grill and everything was delicious. The service was friendly and quick; I can't fault it.

Excellent service, staff friendly

We went Easter Sunday. Just walked in on the off chance and got a table. Got a roast which is similar to a decent ready meal. Staff don't bring cutlery when bringing your meal. Had to get up and ask where to get it from. Meeter and greeter on the way in just waved "over there" complete far end of the large pub. I couldn't find it and he seemed really annoyed when I asked him again.

Was served by the lovely joanne she made us aware of the deals they had and saved us quite abit of money! 5 meals 2 kids puddings! A massive sharing pudding & 3 drinks less than £40!! Really friendly would recommend!! It’s nice to go somewhere and to be served by someone who’s really down to earth and friendly! Credit to the team Joanne thank you x

Food was lovely and staff great especially jo very cheerful and helpful made it very welcoming food was hot and plenty of it great with refillable drinks

Had a lovely meal at the oak with my mother inlaw and my daughter. Jow the waitress was brilliant and very hard working making sure all are food was enjoyable. Jow was very helpful booking us in for are next meal on Easter day.

Great customer service even though it was busy the lady behind the bar Jow was very patient when I was ordering with kids changing their minds. Great little play area for the kids away 🙂🙂

I have been coming to the Royal Oak in Bromborough for a long time and because of its service and quality, plus good value, I am hooked to it. ARDENE always gives an extra smile with her good attention, as do all the staff. Member for life. Steve B

Rooms could do with a little TLC but can't complain for the price. Breakfast booked with the stay was quick to come and tasty.

If you are looking for 5***** then this is not for you. However if you are looking for somewhere to stay while on Business or pleasure then this is perfectly adequate. Rooms are spacious and clean. Plenty of parking and Hungry Horse restaurant adjoining the hotel. All the staff are polite and I have no issues whatsoever while staying here. I would come again.

Visiting relatives close by so was a perfect location, food came quickly and tasted great, The Royal Oak accommodation is ex Premier Inn - so good size rooms in fact ours had a good size double plus a small single bed inside but still not cramped for space! Would not hesitate to come again 👍

Came with partner for food. Had a little confusion with vouchers we was using but the manager was very helpful and sorted out the problem. Great food Great atmosphere.

Went in for dinner this week, food was very good and plenty if it. Staff were friendly attentive. We go for dinner around once a month, it's always good 👍

Booked to dine at 6.30 on Saturday 1st of march why I booked I don't no there was no body on the door to great you in NO tables even though I booked the place was a disgusting dirty tables play area outside full off glasses the pub was a disgusting so glad I never stayed what a disgrace green king get a grip this place is letting you down never going back

I can not comment on the rooms as we didn't stay. We went for a family dinner (toddler in toe) In the little play area, they need to limit how many children are in there. You had kids in there far too big to be in there well over the height limit knocking over the smaller ones (crying ensues) no one bothering to pay attention to their children out of sight of mind springs to mind (it was chaos) so ended up making a swift exit once food was half eaten never to go back The food was ok. we all said it needed to be hotter. The steak was a rubber ball full of fat and gristle. I wasn't sending it back. I just wanted to get out of there as quick as possible Service what service other than an older gentleman looking like he wanted to be anywhere, but there, the younger server was a bit better Dirty cutlery had to go on a hunt, for it wasn't directed by staff (happy to get my own). Just tell me where it is! Nice location easy to get too and outside playground as well but weather was awful

I visited the Royal Oak at 11.30am on a Saturday and ordered £31.77 of food for my mother and 2yo. I used their official app to order. Minutes later, a lady came and informed me that there was a 45 minute wait on food. As my daughter was hungry, we decided this was too long and asked if it was OK to be refunded and we'd go home to eat instead. I was assured the refund would automatically go back onto my card within 3-5 days. I called back a week later as I hadn't been refunded. Was assured the manager was in that evening and would look into it. I didn't hear anything, so called back and was told again by Hayley that she was sitting with the assistant manager and that they would look into it right then. However I had to call yet again after hearing nothing for another 5 days, and once again, was told oh will pass the details on to the manager. And of course heard nothing. I have now disputed the transaction through my bank as I have no hope that the restaurant will actually bother looking into it. Can't comment on the food or actual service though but after chasing 3 times I've still not managed to speak to anyone who can process a simple refund or even pass on information so seems a bit of a shambles.

Went today for lunch, picked 3 things off the menu, 1 being curry on curry Wednesdays may I add to be told they don't have rice, changed my order to a baguette only to be told no baguettes, so 3rd time went for chicken skewers only to be told... no chicken skewers. Wouldn't have minded but it was half 1 on a Wednesday afternoon and they had nothing i ordered which is why I give them 1 star.

If you like a hotel that has no facility to speak to a real person then this is the place for you. You call and speak to “Charlie” who is an irritating bot. She/It keeps trying to have a conversation with you even though you insist she can’t help and eventually you are “permitted” to leave a message which is completely ignored! This happens whenever you call - they just don’t want to speak to you folks. So much for customer service! If you enjoy being ignored, Rotal Oak in Bromborough is definitely the place for you. If, on the other hand, you prefer to be respected and treated with some decency, forget it - they are truly dreadful.

Excellent pub food with a good selection and reasonable price. Recommended. Only bit that let's it down, Hot drinks machine frequently broken.

This place is a joke if you want a drink. The main bar never has anyone behind the bar (one person would do) cause all their interested in is the restaurant side. Lad came round from the restaurant side on Saturday night and says, be round if I get a chance. Absolute crap.

I regularly visit here with family and friends Definitely one of the best breakfast places in the Wirral. The atmosphere when you walk in is very friendly and staff always greets you with a warm welcome and friendly smile. The pub is always extremely clean and comfortable with no clutter whatsoever The staff are always very friendly helpful and welcoming. They always go out of the way to make sure visitors feel comfortable. Especially when Kelly is there working. The menu has something to suit everybody’s tastes with a good selection on offer and a price tag that won’t break the bank. If your planing a family meal then this is definitely worth a visit

Had to sit on the fence as to where rooms are concerned as we did not stay here, we had our tea here. our tea came out quick and hot, which was more than welcome as we were starving hungry. Service received with smiles. Parking available. Kids welcome and had a mini kids corner.Fast delicious food that was full, hot and nothing was scrimped on! Although the kids candy mania, was missing biscuits and there was more squirty cream than ice cream, but I was full enough off the meal. Great Saturday prices for the whole family.

Good ambience, nice food, quick service. Attentive staff. Value for money and clean pub. We always go here as a family and we always enjoy our meal out here. We avail of the promo £5 for some mains. Nothing can't beat that!

Food lovely and quickly served. The biggest disappointment was our upgraded salt and pepper chips- The spices used were chinese spices, which i personally dislike, well over dusted

Visited the pub not long back for a meal with the family! The staff were absolutely brilliant in helping with my disabled grandparent, and they were super friendly! Food was excellent with a great choice to suit even the fussiest of eaters! Excellent value for money also! Will definitely be visiting again in the future

Pub: Staff, evening menu and breakfast excellent value for money. Hotel Room: great value rooms but been staying here for the last 4 months, 4 nights a week in many different room, the TV signal is still flaky and does not work. Over all not a problem for me as I do not watch much tv, but could be a problem for others. But over all a great location with everything in walking distance.

Food was hot and value for money as some offers on during the week, not long to wait for food after ordering. can very noisy when its busy. if going at busy times, it's best to book ahead. Didn't like one of the waitresses circling round our table, clearing plates and condiments away even while others in the party were still eating, she kept returning and looking over the table for more stuff to take away.

Terrible delay today, we were there for 4 and a half hours for Christmas Dinner, no drinks came out and we waited over an hour for each serving. Last year was OK, but they need to pull their socks up on Christmas day, we were starving

Just had breakfast with Santa and what a terrible experience that was! They let you book from 9am for the first slot (which we had) and then don’t tell you that Santa doesn’t turn up until 10. Following this Santa is just doing his own thing instead of going in the order of bookings so it took us 3hrs for him to see us!!! On top of that food was cold and the manager had a terrible attitude. Only saving grace was 1 female member of staff who was a delight.

Stayed there, room comfortable, WiFi not working for my firestick so had to use mobile phone hotspot. Staff friendly, food good even though I got overcharged when I used the App

Table booked 7 pm for 3 people in my group for meal, had to wait 20 minutes in queue as only one person taking orders for meals and drinks , bar staff dead slow stop. Couldn’t fault waitresses they were zooming in and out of kitchen as I was waiting in queue. A group of 4 men in front of me decided to leave and go to the Bromborough pub down the road because waiting for a pint was horrendous. Meal was fine but management need to get staffing on bar sorted out. While the rest of my party were waiting for me to return with drinks it gave them plenty of time to look around. Place is quite dirty, windows are filthy, giant cobwebs in corners, mirrors dirty, general feeling of neglect. Also visited toilets they need repairs, no toilet paper and generally dirty. Management get your act together.

Don't waste your time going here for breakfast. Toast burnt black, no coffee, replaced hash browns with chips and horrible sausages. Waste of time and money

The Royal Oak was in an ideal location for my work trip. The staff in the evening and in the morning were excellent. Adene in particular was brilliant at breakfast, she made everyone comfortable, checked in and even reminded guests of a change of breakfast times over the weekend. Would 100% reccomend.

Staff are an asset to the Royal oak .food is exellent, the hotel section could do with a lick of paint as it looks dated ,the room is was in ,the bathroom extractor fan had the cover missing ,the bed was super comfy ,i had a good nights sleep , i was there for one night and will book again

VERY long wait to be served at the bar - only 1 member of staff on. One person queuing asked a waitress if there was anyone else could help serve but she just looked rather dumbfounded and walked off. Most tables weren't cleared away for the next guests, which made it hard to find a clean table. Not the best Hungry Horse I've been to.

Myself and my wife have just returned from a weekend visit to Liverpool when we arrived at the royal oak to check in we was greeted by hayley at reception with a warm welcome and a smile hayley could not have been more helpful while we where staying.Another great member of staff from the bar and restaurant was Andrew the team leader who also made our stay really great and all the team of the royal oak we are very much looking forward to returning on our next vist to Liverpool.

The staff were absolutely brilliant. Friendly helpful and just lovely people. Rooms were not great but could have been worse .

I will give service 5:5 as after complaining about the potatoes, chewy and inedible warmed in microwave, we ordered two roasts today and I have to say I experienced the worst roast potatoes I have ever had, if anyone has ever tried to put roasties in the microwave after cooked is never going to be a nice experience, even though they did bring a new bowl after complaining they were worse than previous ones,,very inexperienced sorry but it’s a zero mark on food for that reason, all potatoes left on table, even though staff tried. Jeez who is in the kitchen a load of kids running amock

We came to the royal oak for my daughters 6th birthday meal and Kelly Bradley was running the food and she is an outstanding member of staff who goes above and beyond she is amazing and needs more recognition in her work x

Just called in for a pint after our walk. It's a great pub with a good choice of beers and wines. Staff were very quick to serve us and prices were very reasonable. I had a quick read of the menu and there's quite a big selection of meals and prices seem very good value. Will have to call back and try it out.

Just got back from what was supposed to be a quick meal on the way home. The food is very good, but the service is awful. The mains arrived about 25 minutes after ordering, which is reasonable. However the desserts didn't show up, despite someone clearing the plates from our table. After around 30 minutes we asked somebody to check on the desserts. He didn't come back. Neither did the second person we asked after another half an hour. After about another 15 minutes they turned up. No apology or acknowledgement of them having taken so long. I'd like to say this was a one off, but sadly it isn't. We had exactly the same experience the last time we came here, earlier this year. At least on that occasion, it was a Friday evening, and they were very busy. This time it was a Thursday at 7pm and they weren't at all busy. We won't be returning
