Once upon a time this was an exceptional charming local. It has been destroyed by the former brewery Greene King. Frightful mess and a monument to Tory Thatcherite destruction of our heritage. Avoid! Shun!

Really good pub. Went on Saturday for something to eat and watch the game. Was busy but got served pretty quickly. Good atmosphere, lively but everyone was really friendly. If you want a table for food book ahead though.

Had the perfect Christmas hosted by Paul and his team. They took really good care of myself and my family from the minute we arrived until the minute we left. Food was amazing as usual.

It was a busy Friday night teatime and food all came piping hot, and served with a smile. We love our local pub and the menu, it's affordable and nice to have friendly faces serving us either on a date night or as a family of 5.

Called in when back in our hometown for the day. We used to work in the village in the '70s and the Shrew was a frequent lunchtime and after work venue. Mrs Cartmill would be spinning in her grave to see it now, shredded seating and unkempt dismal toilets, (gents at least) Greene King should be ashamed. A few cask ales was positive, although on this occasion I couldn't partake, other than that, the pleasant and helpful lady behind the bar was the only bright spot. I won't be going again but I don't suppose OAPs are their target market!

The two ladies tonight were exceptional, very funny and easy to talk to. If there were to be two employees of the months these ladies would win it. Lady with glasses and light brown hair, another lady with darker hair no glasses (apologies don’t remember their name just had a Chinese and quite merry)

Lovely friendly staff, great food and beer, cosy pub with a lovely atmosphere, nice outside area too. Had the fried halloumi for starters followed by the hunters chicken, really enjoyed it. Good value.

Popped into this cozy establishment for the first time the other week with the missus and was rather surprised by the varied & vegetarian friendly menu! The chicken & mango tacos & nachos sharer were the stars of the show here, very good quality grub for a pub chain I must say! Also loved the decor & atmosphere, it instantly felt very homely! We'll be back in again to try the pulled mushroom chilli! Cheers for having us folks!

Traditional working class pub, plenty of drinkers there. Basic pub, lovely stained glass, entrance shoddy, staff reasonably polite and friendly, only one item for a Sunday roast, chicken. Broccoli veg cold. I was with 2 other people they were not impressed with the food. A bit noisy one local belching another swearing, we won't return. Plenty of car parking in their car park.

Wow what can I say I visited the shrew for my birthday and what a night we had! It was absolutely out of this world the starters to the mains omg outstanding! The thing that stood out was the service from Marc that guy really went above and beyond to make sure my birthday meal was out of this world! I wish that there was afew more stars to give this guy as 5 just doesn’t compare to how happy he made that meal, it was a stunning evening and I will really be returning to see Marc once again 😉

Lovely evening with family n friends for my sons birthday, food was amazing and great value, after are meal we went an sat in the beer garden, great atmosphere everyone having a laugh, different faces behind the bar from last time we visited, will definitely be returning bit more frequently

You can take your dog here. Your child can be surprised how nice can be in the pub/restaurant. Highly recommended.

Have always loved this pub. Didn’t have what we wanted from the menu, but second choice was very nice. Unfortunately the back room we were seated in was extremely grotty. Don’t think it’s been updated from when it first opened. Staff and service were great.

Pleasant location with own car park. Friendly and helpful staff. Good food and atmosphere. Has a small garden area with tables. Football fans can be noisy when matches are on TV. Good quiz night on Mondays

Lovely staff. Lovely food. Shame that there is a loud T V showing football in EVERY room. Would have been nice to have a quiet room to enjoy meal and chat over a drink.

No live music. Not best suited for dining due to limited space. Great beer garden in summer. Food and service always good.

We always eat very well here, no matter how many times we come, we are never disappointed in the service they provide us, the pie was very delicious, next time I will try the beef pie.

14 of us came for our christmas meal to The Shrew. We had a 3 course festive fayre menu. The food was really good, the service was great and the atmosphere was lovely. We've been before and will definitely be back again. Thankyou to all involved.

Fantastic atmosphere and peaceful surroundings, perfect for an evening catch up.

Went for evening meal found prices a bit much for pub grub, I got the fish and chips and must have paid towards the fuel bill of their newly aquired trawler, staff are good and pleasant but regulars to this establishment need to get over themselves they very much think they are part of the old money fox hunting brigade.

Worst pint of Guinness I've had in ages. The amount of people taking cocaine in the toilets was unbelievable.

Plenty of room between the tables, this is important when you have twins under 2. Food was lovely (only had a hot sandwich) would definitely recommend the chilli chicken. Nice pint, friendly staff, good value. Thanks, will come again,

Went for lunch today and was told the kitchen doesn't open until 4pm?? After looking at the "all day menu" so we left

Nipped in for a large glass of wine to relax and kill time. I chose Malbec which was fine but didn't warrant the hefty price tag. I sat outdoors and observed that the tables weren't being cleared or cleaned during the whole of my 40 minute stay. Otherwise a nice pub occupying a lovely position.

Okay, won't be going again,could do with a refurb

Plus there's a large selection of Italian lager's on tap for crisp refreshment...which comes served with a friendly smile. And to top it all The Shrew' is a dog friendly pub with water readily provided for your best friend 🐶

Local pub in Oxton. Bit of a queue at the bar but it was a Saturday evening. I know they serve food but I was meeting friends for a drink so cannot comment about it. The Shrewsbury Arms bitter was very drinkable and reasonably priced.

Great old pub fantastic staff lovely beer and food

Pleasant comfortable pub/eatery with quite a large beer garden allowing smokers & dogs + adjoining patrons only car park. It makes an ideal point for refreshments for anyone who has just visited the nearby Williamson Art Gallery on Slatey Rd just 3 mins drive away or Birkenhead Park just 5 mins drive away. Sorry guys I can't give you 5 stars as I aint tried the food yet but score earned on venue & location 🙂
