The Derby Pool Harvester Wallasey in Wirral

The place was bloody freezing, no heating on at all, it was 6 degrees outside but felt colder inside the place. Never been to a place where people were eating food with their coats on and fully fastened up.

2 salads were missing! After calling the restaurant we were told by the manager Paul Kipps it doesn't matter because said salads were "free" with the meal. So according to general manager Paul Kipps we are not due any salad. Paul tried to convince me of this supposed fact several times but I could not agree and still don't. We paid for salad and expect salad. Thumps down for Paul, otherwise the food was good.

Love this pub. Amazing view out over the sea, plenty of veggie options and delicious free salad bar. Diego has been our waiter a few times now (we keep coming back!) and he's so lovely and friendly as well as really quick and attentive. Great atmosphere and just an overall great pub.

Our server Ellie was the shining light. Ordered off the Christmas menu, all acceptable, worth the price. Room was a bit cold.

Great food and the views out to sea are brilliant. If you get a nice sunset you could be anywhere in the world. Diego is the most lovely server! Always well looked after by him! Makes your visit that bit better! Thanks for always being kind and making us laugh!

Took my 98 year old mother out to lunch. We had excellent service from Matt. Food was excellent especially the rotisserie chicken.The staff went above and beyond. Would highly recommend.

Food was great and the service was impeccable. Alicia was really attentive and very genuine. We had a great time for my birthday and will definitely be back.

We sat down at 6:16 and waited 10mins for the waiter, he took the drinks order and we had to wait a further 15 mins for him to come back to take the food order, twice went to check if some of the menu were still available. Some wanted jacket potatoes but was they wouldn’t have any for 40 minutes. He took the order but came back and said there wasn’t any chicken now. Took ages for the food to arrive and it wasn’t very hot, couldn’t find him to complain. He only came back for the dessert order. Salad was okay but no thousand island dressing and only white rolls.

We had a delightful evening at Harvester Derby Pool in Wallasey! Our server, Alicia, was attentive and friendly, making us feel very welcome. The setting was perfect for a relaxed catch-up with friends, and the food was excellent, with a great variety of options to suit everyone. We all thoroughly enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere, and the service added to the experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a friendly, comfortable spot to unwind with friends.

Alicia was our server. She was very attentive and met all our needs especially with one of the children who had an allergy to nuts

Great place to visit for lunch or dinner, with fantastic views out across Leasowe Bay and the Irish Sea . Always lovely food with great service by staff. Getting your food can take a little longer than usual when the restaurant is busy, so bare that in mind.

This occasion at this establishment was an amazing experience. The server we had, Amanda, was an excellent host for our family table. They made sure we had everything we needed and checked on us numerous times throughout each course. The pudding was delicious. The glazed choux bun was delicious and light despite its heavy appearance. The salad bar, a staple in my opinion in any harvester, was as delicious as it has always been. Thank you for another great night. Here’s to many more!

We visited this lovely restaurant tonight, we was greeted by Diego, a lovely friendly man who made us welcome, our meal came approx 30 mins later, which was fair for mixed grill, both our meals were cooked to perfection and were piping hot, the salad bowl was lovely too, very good value, Diego was very helpful he went above and beyond, he was so lovely on our last visit too. we will definetaly be returning and can highly recommend.

Last week we came here and tried the waffle with banana, but we wouldn’t recommend it. The bananas were partly frozen and still had some peel, and the waffle wasn’t fresh—just a sugary pre-made one. However, this week was a much better experience! We had a great meal, and Alicia was awesome—really friendly and on point. Compliments to her. Also; If you're getting dessert, definitely go for the Glazed Choux Bun, it was super tasty!

Slow service, ended up walking out before food arrived.

I have emailed a complaint. Slow service, paid for pudding but left without it as was ignored for a long time with our plates left Infront of us. Salad bar was nearly empty and asked to restock but was the restocked too late. Ended up paying at the bar when we left as noone comes to our table. If you see my reviews from other places, I don't think I've ever left a negative one but we won't visit this Harvester again.

Excellent food. They were happy for us to have the dog with us. Food came in good time. Alicia was friendly, polite and the service was great. Very happy with our visit. Would definitely recommend.

Alicia was fantastic, so pleasant and looked after our every needs. We only came for desserts but it was well worth the visit. She was so personal and the rest of the staff was excellent helping out aswell.

Called in for lunch & served by Martin who was polite, kind & attentive. He was let down a bit by the kitchen not advising him that there was an hours wait for chicken dishes. He was very apologetic. The food we did get was served quickly & was piping hot. The actual place is a bit drab & run down - it could do with a make over to brighten it up, especially due to its locality. Big thanks to Martin.

Stopped off on the bikes for a few pints and some food, we were served by lovely staff but when seated for our small dishes we were served by Amanda who is honestly a real credit to your team, she advised me and my mate on what’s best and was overall very professional.

The food was not hot and was a little greasey

Food arrived luke warm, macaroni was a solid disc, 1 macaroni deep, just covering the bottom of the tray…. Missing 2 Pepsi max and 3 salads. I was unable to ask for a refund of just these items as it was part of a meal, I had to request a refund on the meal where most items were missing. We ate what arrived it was ok, just not hot.

Visited this afternoon with the family. Diego was amazing. He went above and beyond with his service and was so friendly. He was working so hard keeping everyone happy. As a person who has done this job myself in the past, I understand how difficult it can be. Diego gave no sign of this. Food was nice, atmosphere was good but we will deffo return for the great service

We were served by Ellie today who is always fantastic. The whole team here is always wonderful and the food is really tasty. Very pleased with the new look menu although I went for the classic 1983 combo.

Place was pretty much empty with 2 other people there, I ordered a burger with chips, that is all, I asked for a drink and it never arrived, I ended up in there for 2 hours 38 minutes, that's how long it took for me to be waited on, served, and waited on again to take the bill, it's took me less than 10 minutes to eat my burger after the 40 minute wait. I wasn't going to leave a tip, but I gave it half an hour after my bill arrived, and left because no one was waiting. Upon arrival there where 7 staff just sat around laughing looking at there phones. 2 Hours and 38 minutes. When my food did arrive. One it was almost cold. 2 it was rock solid, I cam only describe the texture as bark from a soft pine. It tasted very heavily of salt with not much other flavour of beer and the cheese seemed to be missing, I ate it anyway because this and the drink I bought but did not recieve came to £20, but with no staff on the bar and waitresses few and far between I had no hope of getting anything resolved. In all fairness to the staff on the rare occasion I did find them, they where very friendly, but utterly useless at carrying out any tasks that they are employed to do. As a food critic I take my job seriously, but I honestly don't have the words for the food I consumed today. I look forward to visiting Morisons up the road and having a £1.49 microwave meal from the freezer this evening. If I had it my way I would have had the place temporarily shut down whilst the staff are trained and disciplined. But sadly there where no health code violations. Just poorly managed staff amd poorly trained chefs. A lady sat behind me stated she had a fish allergy, I noticed through her cournversation with a young gentleman that they had experienced the same level of disgust as I had. They left before me with the young fellow complaining that they are taking too long to get change and also left them a tip, stating that he was paying to leave by leaving said tip. I don't recommend you visit a harvester pub restaurant. They all seem to have horrible tales like this, and the time I decided to visit one, I too fell victim to the criminal the restaurant was.

We had our wedding reception here and it was amazing! Staff were super helpful and couldn’t do enough to make sure everything was perfect. Special thanks to Michelle, who looked after us all.

Food was really nice, the fish was lovely. Service speed despite being a busy Friday evening was pretty quick and service by Ellie was friendly and excellent. Recommend, but if you like quiet atmosphere then perhaps go on a weekday daytime.

The main reason for ordering was to get a salad as I'm unwell,and had enjoyed the orders we have given you over past week,husband and I,salad and calamari was missing,corn on the cob tiny,ribs,my husband got as no calamari ,have phoned hope2hear

This is so bad I waited over 2 hours and the girl said she Is gonna check how long it is going to be 3 times and she never put the order in so i asked the man how long it is going to be and he told us the order wasn't placed this is appalling

Fabulous art deco building recommended by a friend and with stunning views of sunset at the right time of day. As a previous reviewer has said, our server was Ellie and she was lovely friendly and courteous. Food was speedy, well cooked, great value for money and for a first time Harvester customer, I’d not hesitate to bring family back here again, especially as it welcomes dogs and there’s a fabulous beach to walk them right by it.

Great menu options with deals on 2/3 courses midweek. Rotisserie chicken and ribs are specialties, and of an excellent standard. Salad bar is a great idea though needs refilling more frequently as unattended kids tend to loiter like vultures! Service is welcoming, friendly, and patient.

Impromptu breakfast date....have never been before. What a gem of a place....great service made very welcome....didn't catch the servers name but what a lovely guy! Had the ultimate breakfast x 2....great value for money coffee on tap and great views. Will definitely return and recommend to family and friends. Thanks derby pool for a lovely morning ❤️

Food was good and although very busy there was no delay in getting served. We both ordered off the lunch menu which was £13.99 for 2 courses. My wife asked if we could exchange a desert for a hot drink and was told yes. At the end of the meal my wife decided not to have a drink after all but then when the bill came one of the meals had been charged at the full menu rate. When queried the Karina the waitress explained that because my wife had only one course the discount couldnt be applied. Karina offered us a desert to take home which strangely meant the bill would be cheaper. In the end I had another coffee and that also reduced the bill. So 1 point off for a crazy offer system but full marks for food, service and the manner in which Karina sorted the anomaly.

Waited over one hour for dessert, with my two elderly disabled parents. In the end cancelled it. Still charged for it on the set menu? I will never use this place again. Very stressful and inconsiderate.

Not the first time here. We were shown to a table straight away. Once seated the waiter, Martin took our drink order, gave us time to look at menu then took our order. Would like to say how friendly and also professional he was. My husband had the pork belly and really enjoyed it.

Visited Derby Pool for a catchup lunch with my friend. Food was vert good as was the service by Amanda, who made us very welcome.

Went there today . Ordered a kids meal for my 3 year old and two adult meals . Took over 40 minutes for a meal, then they brought out our meals but not my 3 year olds. We overheard someone say we were sat in the dog section, but was a horrible space with no windows. People serving were not overly polite, one showing us a sign that said 40 minutes wait time for food- even though when we arrived it wasn’t filled in. Food itself was cold and had sat around for long time, server told us they burnt the kids pizza ! Genius - never going there again.manager did give us a discount but one meal was so bad it was inedible.

Great food. Good service. When I am in the area, I will be back.

Greene King pub and restaurant with great beach access.

Brilliant service and family friendly beach restaurant at a good price. We found the Manager and staff super welcoming and even though it was busy it didnt effect the speed in which we recieved our food or the quality of our food. There was all you could eat salad with our meal which was fresh and delicious and we received child activity packs to keep our daughters occupied in between dishes. The children's menu and lunch specials were delicious with good portions and my picky daughter ate all her meal and had seconds of the salad which is a testament to the quality and flavour. We will definitely be returning on our future beach days as it's literally seconds from the beach. We also saw you can get fresh coffee which smelt amazing and will need to try it next time.

George was out server for the day and he had a lovely attitude greeted us and treated us well. The food was exceptional very tasty

Sunny day, by the beach expected it to be busy no issue there.... Ordered a meal together, my partners meal came in 30 mins not bad considering it was busy. No issues with my partners food at all.... My meal came 50 minutes later. Asked the staff a couple times, who said they would find out nothing came, so went in and found the staff we talked to, said they forgot to ask🤦🏻‍♂️ Ordered on the app as one order but Apparently the order some how went through separately. Waited 1hr 20mins fur a chicken skewer which when came tasted like it had been sat round for that long.

Our waitress Alicia was so welcoming and polite. She made sure everything was perfect for us by double checking our order and coming over to check if the food was to a good standard. More over she double checked the bill was correct too. She even put up with mine and my friends giggles while ordering dessert so extra points to her!

Amazing atmosphere. Definitely value for money. Enjoyed the meal and everything. It was actually my nephew’s birthday. Great service from our lovely waitress, very friendly Alicia.

Had a lovely meal made special by our server Alicia. It was my son's 18th birthday, he was hungover and ready to have a meal to soak up the alcohol. Alicia made this meal so much more special by talking to him about his birthday and having the staff sing happy birthday to him and giving him a slice of cake with candles! A regular here always get great service and food . Like the harvester and this is a great example . It gets very busy but there is no compromise in standards from the team , highly recommended… Quality service always from Diego and all the staff ..

This place is nice for families. Right next to the beach. Salad bar wasn't looked after though unfortunately an many dishes needed to be refilled so missed out on them with thw meal. The main meal was lovely an good value. Staff nice

Food like you got it out of the freezer, service was okay but nothing special, had long wait for food The best bit is he free salad The dressings for salad have no labels So you have to ask The quality of food and service is poor compared to the harvester on Gemini retail park

Food very good when it eventually arrived after 50 minutes. Staff friendly but food wait was excessive. Thankfully a lovely view to enjoy from the terrace.

Food was fine but service was a complete shambles.

Great traditional Sunday lunch and a pint . Good service . Great atmosphere . Lots of parking . Nice location. We both had a good lunch and afternoon
