Very nice traditional English pub and restaurant. Food is lovely and great value for a decent price. Every month is a pub quiz which was a great surprise when we visited.... we didn't win.

Lovely little country pub. When doing a walk from Irby It's very handy stop with it being on a crossroads as it's on the route to Greasby, Roydon Park and Arrowe park. It's very cosy inside and with a log burner it's nice and warm on a Winters day. In the Summer it has a nice little beer garden if you want to sit outside. I have not eaten there recently but I know they have a good menu. Their range of real ales is normally excellent.

Pre-booked a table, arrived and seated ok. The food was above average and the service was good. We had to ask for the music to be turned down so we could hear each other but, with the food dining area being so compact, everyone's voices drowned out what conversion we tried to have. Food good, service good noise spoilt it but it did not detract from the overall Sunday lunch. No disabled parking available. 7/10

It was my mums 80th Birthday meal and around 10 of us attended that included 3 children, it was nice to start with but nearly finishing our main/sweet my sister kept getting asked "we need the tables" wasn't great that we were getting rushed and pushed out as people were coming in, looking at us like saying hurry up. What upsets me is it being valentines day and my mums special 80th birthday. I've worked in the restaurant business and that clearly wasn't great service. Unfortunately this has put us off going back there. Just not happy at all.

This is a nicer version of your standard pubs/chains. Cosy and traditional. My husband had a beer on draught which was flat, returned it no problem as a couple of others had. Was either busy or not really checking the lines. I had a light red wine which was nice and fairly priced. The other ales looked good and they had a good selection on the bar. Had food which was nice. Had the scampi and chips which was tasty and plentiful. Husband had fish and chips which looked equally nice. The place wasn't particularly busy, service was super slow and we had to wait a fair bit for service on the bill.

Visited for a meal with friends in September 2023, party of three. Greeted with a very warm welcome from the staff, and the waitress was very friendly and very helpful with the menu making some excellent recommendations. The restaurant was clean and there was a good amount of space between the tables. We didn’t feel rushed at any point, and the atmosphere was relaxed and really made for a good dining experience. The menu offered a good choice and there were several things each of us would have had. I opted for a burger and it was delicious! Also a good range of ales available. Very disappointed. We were served by young people who didn’t seem to have any idea about customer service. We had one starter missing food was in the main far too salty or just lacklustre. We waited about 30 minutes for the card machine to arrive so we could pay. The young man said he was “busy with other customers”! Then made some comments about how much wine we had drunk! All very odd and not really what a group of OAP’s expect on their night out. Sadly we won’t be going again which is a shame as pre COVID we went there regularly To add to our woes my new white jeans are stained with the dye from the chair I was sitting on!

Pretty good. Great selection of guest beers. Food was average pub fare, and I don't mean that to be negative, just was decent without being anything amazing. Service was good if a little erratic, a young team though so understandable and it looked to be a busy service. Burger was good with huge portion of fries, the ribs looked decent amount and tasty and the beef roasts were OK if a little cool on the plate. Live music out in the garden was a bonus and we stayed for another drink to listen. Will definitely return.

Been here before and the food has always been lovely. Today was disappointing. Service was very slow- it took 2.5 hours for a 2 course lunch due to long gaps between service. There didn’t seem to be enough staff on, despite the place being relatively quiet. The main courses themselves were lovely and great portions. Dessert, which we managed to get after a 40 minute wait, was supermarket quality. I ordered banoffee waffle dessert which came with no banana and barely any sauce. When we asked for some banana, they took my plate away and came back over 5 minutes later with the same plate (half melted by now) with 4 small pieces of banana added. No apology. Everyone else in the party felt the service had declined since our last visit, which is a shame as it was always a lovely place.
