Hardworking, motivated, dedicated staff. A valuable for money, got to pub, it's also a hub of the community :)

Stopped off here whilst visiting family nearby. Needed a quick and cheerful meal, so this was ideal. The usual fast service and perfectly reasonable meal. They might not win a Michelin Star, but it’s quick and cheap, so can’t grumble. Good range of food and drinks.

Food was mint but got shouted at for Ordering a portion of gravy with a curry. Bit odd that. I didn't even do anything it was all this dude

It's a weatherspoons. You're not gonna get Michelin stars here.But the food is filling,basic fayre,and the beers fairly cheap....Just paid a visit with my mate. He had a pint of guiness,very reasonably priced, and I had the large cod,chips, and mushy peas,throughly enjoyed it with a pint of ice cold lager.👍

No Vegetarian breakfast available, no alternative offered, this is not the first time it has happened too! You never hear of them running out of standard breakfasts, so this is either discrimination of vegetarians, complete disorganisation, or both! The fact that vegetarian food keeps longer means there is no excuse not to keep enough onsite to cover demand, a shame the same regard towards meat eaters isn't extended to vegetarians, it reflects badly on Wetherspoons and does hint of it's only vegetarians it doesn't matter! As it's happened a few times now, I don't think their attitude/ prejudice will change, so avoid if you're a vegetarian and go to a place that doesn't discriminate.

This is one amazing pub, where can you get a good meal and a drink for under a £5. Here that’s where, I don’t do reviews but honestly please don’t ever change, you can pop in get ham egg and chips decent portion and a drink for £4.91 I ask you is that not amazing these days please don’t change we love coming here.

You can't beat Spoons for breakfast. The coffee is good and the price is excellent.

Obviously cheap & cheerful. Food edible but a bit naf & cold. My friend had 'Wiltshire ham' which really wasn't & a funny colour. I had the American burger which was small & a bit cold but tasty.

Food always great and smashing prices on ales and wines. Nice relaxed atmosphere, enjoy no piped music or blaring TV's

The staff are great, and you don't have to cross the himalayas to get to the loo 🤣

Great value, cheap and cheerful. Staff were very friendly and efficient.

Good variety of beers and drinks plus the food was at a very good price, the reason for the low score is because when I went to get cocktails (which were on the two for £10 offer) the staff told me that only two of the drinks were available, neither being my choice. One drink I requested was an espresso martini, which they had apparently run out of. I could clearly see that the ingredients were available - especially as I could see another member of staff pouring the Kahlua behind her! I pointed this out and the staff member just shrugged her shoulders. I was never expecting a cocktail bar experience with all the bells and whistles, but if you have an offer you should provide the services! The two drinks that I eventually got from her were watery and tasteless. Beer was good though.

We have been here a few times on a Saturday afternoon and the service in here is excellent, especially the lad with a beard and bald head. He's always friendly and welcoming and always has a smile on his face. We will be going this afternoon and every Saturday due to this and also the prices are very good. Eg a real ale and pint of lager for £5! You won't get that cheaper anywhere in meols and Hoylake. Keep up the good work mate 👍

You cannot beat this pub for fish chips and mushy peas.

Food was good and excellent value. Service was really fast, staff were very friendly. Atmosphere was good. Definitely a place that deserves a return visit.

Great place to eat. Efficient staff. Nice atmosphere. The tables are clean or someone will clean it straight away. The food is always perfect, it’s Wethies but it’s really good and well priced.

It was a nice Wetherspoons, service was very good as was the beer.

First visited Dec '19 :Visited about 10am on Christmas eve. It was quiet, ordered a traditional breakfast and an American breakfast. 10 minute wait (which is acceptable) but it seems mine was left out while my wife's was still being cooked so not as hot as I would like.. As always you can't knock a spoons brekkies for the price. First time visit and would visit again. Very clean, staff always seen on the move cleaning tables quickly. *UPDATE Oct '23 : Calledbin while passing through for a quick lunch. Ordered 2 crispy chicken burgers. Arrived very quickly and also hot and they were very nice. Smaller plates than normal meals but as it was only a quick lunch snack it was still a good size. Quite busy but it's a spoons so execpected. Great food & great service 👍.

We have visited in the past but before I started reviewing on here. We had a breakfast tgat time and it was delicious. A few years on we called in for a quick lunch. We both had a crispy chicken burger and it was absolutly delicious. It arrived quickly and hot and was very satisfactory. A nice atmosphere and busy even though it was lunchtime in the middle of the week. Would recommend if in Hoylake, maybe if the golf is on as its literally within a stones throw of the Royal Liverpool golf course. On street parking along the high street

Everything you'd expect from a Wetherspoons. Nicer than uour average tho.

You know what you get from Whetherspoons so shouldn't be expecting gourmet food. Food however is good and value for money. This is the best Whetherspoons on west wirral and has a good vibrant atmosphere.

Good atmosphere and great staff/service

Just called in for a coffee but fantastic value! Two cups of coffee for £2 and as many refills as you'd like. The coffee was really nice too.

I have been coming here on my own for my tea/dinner after work at least twice a month for over a year ( you can check my Wetherspoons account ) and never needed to complain as its always been great. However today, the service was OK not as cheery as usual but ordering at the bar food and the food was awful x Reheated steak that was looking way past its best and tasted of garlic x Also nobody came to check how everything was, I was going to tell the clearly overworked manager who was trying to serve with her arm in a sling until I heard her saying that all the staff were off 😫 sick. Maybe an idea to put a sign up saying short staffed, or better still close the kitchen as the people on the table by me said their food seemed reheated too x Such a shame but it was awful .

Was here this morning got served and made a genuine mistake about table number I order to 23 not 32 and when the waitress turned up with my food she slammed it in the table and said it’s 32 not 23 didn’t ask me if I wanted sauces and was really rude totally ruined my day wife’s crying

A great pub! Enjoyed a few glasses of wine and shared a pizza with the wife. I cannot believe how good the pizzas are! Dominos are a short walk away but would not go there. The curry night is fantastic quality and value. Sir Tim's team at Hoylake Lights are commendable. Thank you.

Rude, obnoxious and aggressive. Zero understanding of how beer lines work and the damage faulty lines can do to the equipment. Needs retraining or shipped to a different venue.

Stopped for breakfast after a beach walk Dow Stanley road, I ordered the mushroom Benedict(not vegan haha just wanted healthy) the food serving was very quick and very tasty but the yolk was solid and mushroom was cold under the sauce, still tasty I wouldn’t complain, the place was clean, the staff were friendly

4 people popped in for drink, had already paid when realised gin and tonic in plastic 1/2 pint glass, asked why and was told short of staff, glasses not being washed? Had drink and left

I have been living here for over four years and have visited numerous weatherspoons and have been left in awe by this specific pub. The service and the steak I ordered was first class. I seen a chef walk out the kitchen and called him over to pay compliments to; Liam. Excellent service. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Hoylake

The food and place, I can't complain, they where first rate, but what sucked the enjoyment out of our "birthday breakfast experience" was the manner in which I was spoken (no correction, shouted at). I committed the crime of removing the dirty glasses from our table to the end of the bar. Where I found sanitizer and a cloth, which I used to wipe our table down. I've never been spoken to in the rude manner and belittled in front off the other customers before. I was too much in shock, as a lady of 68 years, to complain at the time. The young man (who looked in his twenties and young enough to be my grandson), I believe must have been in charge. I believe his outrageous behaviour was not warranted. I will never go back to this Weatherspoons again. I hope someone who reads this gets this message to him and I hope he is suitably ashamed of his manners.

Went in for a large veggie breakfast and coffee. The young ladies serving at the bar and on food service were outstanding: polite, cheerful, helpful and pleasant. They came to ask if everything was OK with the meal, which it was...

My son and I visited this Wetherspoons Pub last week for a bite to eat and we’re not disappointed. Clearly Hoylake Lights is popular as it was very busy around 5 pm midweek. The food, drinks and service was excellent and a very pleasant atmosphere. We shall be coming back soon

Lovely amazing service at weatherspoons Hoylake Lights tonight. Staff were very friendly there was also a mix up with my daughters meal even though she had already started eating it. Half way through and she cut her steak to realise it was still pink so we asked a member of staff to ask the chef to cook it more to which she bought out a whole new meal and even offered us a fresh round of drinks. Thank you so much made our meal really enjoyable

I have never been particularly disappointed when visiting any Wetherspoon pub. They consistently offer good value for money. I visited this venue during a day trip to the Wirral last week with my son. The pub has a nice homely feel to it and is very tastefully decorated and very clean. The very personable young bespectacled woman, whom I assume is the manageress, works like a woman possessed, scuttling around everywhere ensuring that customers are being looked after, happy with their meals, checking to ensure that meals are being brought out of the kitchen as quickly as possible etc etc!! Very impressive! Although the pub was quite busy we were served very quickly. I have said in previous reviews that I would never give a Wetherspoons pub a 5 star rating, simply because there are higher class venues and Wetherspoons' are after all just "pub grub" specialists. On this occasion however, it would be churlish of me not to award 5 stars as we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals as well as the service and pleasant venue

I’ve visited Hoylake Lights many times and really enjoyed the food and the staff were really lovely. However, the last two times we’ve visited, I know we’re in lockdown etc but the guy on the bar is really officious and arrogant. The way he speaks to customers is truly awful. Where has the lovely pub manager gone, he was lovely and very helpful. I won’t be going into Hoylake Lights again, who needs that attitude!!

Staff here are very friendly and explained how things work. Other customers were trying to push there luck but staff were doing an amazing job. Other pubs in the area are a free for all so felt very safe

No consistency. If you’re a regular drinker they’re allowing you to do what ever you want. I’ve just sat and watched 2 regulars drinking pints before picking up a menu... no questions, just smiles. I tried to order a drink only to have the rules barked at me. I don’t mind the rules but be consistent please. Have had similar when tried to fit my 3 children round a table and had to move a chair... had the chair grabbed off me and rules barked at me again. Turned to look at the large group of drinkers all standing round a table for 4. No staff approaching them. Drinkers rule, who cares about the diners it would seem!

Great local and great prices, but the lack of consistency around the Covid rules is very confusing. Essentially, if you’re a regular you can do what you like - you can eat with multiple mates, not order food with a drink, pull chairs over to sit in a big group, and have as many drinks as you like. If you’re not a regular, you MUST order food with a drink, you MUST only have 2 rounds after food, you CANNOT pull chairs over, you MUST obey the rules. Very frustrating

Never visited before, probably never will again. A real mixed bag, staff and service excellent, food good and reasonably priced but the pub is looking tired and in need of a spruce up. Main thing that put us off was a couple of lads using very colourful language, did not expect this in Hoylake.Covid controls in place with sanitizing stations placed at entrance and staff encouraging track and trace procedure.

Typical spoons, cheap and not cheerful. Manky beer, scruffy tables and no atmosphere. Plenty of better bars to go to in the village.

Its a weatherspoons...expect nothing less or more...food is OK to low standard but priced as such and alcohol is good value...

Popped in early evening for dinner and a drink. Sadly, most of the tables were dirty, uncleared from previous occupiers with glasses and plates scattered about. The bar area was just as bad, the glass return area was overflowing along the bar and menus had been discarded on the bar and the floor. We were hungry and ordered, food arrived quickly, sadly it didn’t occur to the young lad who delivered our food to the table, that he should take some of the dirty plates and glasses away with him. I can’t see is returning anytime soon.

Sunday brunch with our grandson. Lovely calming decor. Food arrived quickly and piping hot. Really meaty sausage, not too spicy. Delicious. Spotless toilets. We sat in a lovely little booth raised up slightly from the rest of the pub. Very cosy.

Landed in this small place unexpectedly and couldn't fine anywhere to eat. Usual relief when we saw a Wetherspoons - you know it is gonna be decent, cheap and cheerful...and it was. Great service and friendly staff. Usual massive menu where you could eat something different every day for a whole month. No need to look at prices really as everything is so cheap. Good quality food and cheap drinks...though it does make me giggle that they have wine on tap! Great all round.

Went here today for a late lunch with my partner, food is always good but today was brilliant, both of our meals were piping hot and out within 10 minutes of ordering, even my pile of peas were hot!..brilliant friendly staff too

Often have meals here and always good service and nice meal. Drinks are cheap with mixers free. It is child friendly. Don't understand though why dogs aren't allowed even in the garden area.

I won't be writing again what's the point - you don't reply unless it's a good review. I had Fish and Chips yesterday, the picture on the leaftet for this shows a nice flat fish with a golden colour, my fish was far from it - almost cremated, I saw other fish coming out, some where flat but still wholly overcooked, whatever flavour is in the fish has gone when it is fried so quickly and in too hot an oil which is why both end of the fish curl up. I could cook it better myself. I recently went to Wetherspoons in Canterbury, the fish was perfect, flat and golden. Not like your burnt offerings. Your food has not been as good as it was for over 6 months, however, most people won't be bothered by this. How the Head Chef lets this go out to customers is a mystery, perhaps they ought to stop fooling about in the kitchen and concentrate on making the food edible.

Met my mate for a couple of drinks, place had a friendly atmosphere and was busy enough. The staff where friendly and helpful the only problem was the state of the men’s toilets they were minging not the staffs fault just the people using them missing the toilet

Have been before and like most reviews found it to be good value and yet still pleasant. Today I was very disappointed, food was not as expected. Something weird was going on with the grilled chicken breast, looked like it had some sort of egg based coating on it, tasted yuk! (technical term) Pudding fared no better, cookie dough sandwich was so rock hard on one end I couldn't cut it even hammering with the spoon, would have been afraid to chew it tbh! Would have broken my teeth I reckon.

Good value on a large selection of food. The food tasty. The restaurant does look run down and the empty tables had not been wiped down. Staff grumpy !

My wife and I where staying in Hoylake for one night and looked for somewhere to eat and found the Hoylake lights it’s a fairly small weatherspoons but nice and clean and the food was nice and well cooked

I called in after a meeting for a meal on my own.

Yep, your eyes haven't deceived you, this is a Wetherspoon with a downstairs toilet. No traipsing upstairs along a garish Wilton to the next postcode, you can go to the toilet a matter of feet from your table. Or at your table, judging by a couple of the patrons.

Visited here on May 9th for a colleagues retirement. There were 4 of us. I had the Beef Madras which was absolutely gorgeous and I like getting iced water which I enjoy with every meal. Very nice and satisfied.

Went for the curry night with the family and served drinks at the bar by a very sombre looking man who may have been the manager on the night. The meal arrived with very dry and almost roasted rice. Shouldn't rice be moist? When this was pointed out to the young male waiter and asked to report this to the cook, he responded by saying "oh" before offering to remove our as yet unused wine glasses and failed to return. The curry was fine, but the rice was inedible. Normally the service is very good with pleasant staff, but not on this occasion.

We often go here for a reasonably priced tea or breakfast with friends and family. The food is always served hot and decent portion sizes. Breakfasts are great and unlimited tea and coffee.

Food hot tasty I had chickpea & spinach curry husband had large mixed grill very busy only had to wait about 10 minutes nice atmosphere Tuesday was steak night depending on which weatherspoons your in they charge different prices still worth the money

Really busy as we walked which showed just how popular this Wetherspoons is.Drinks order arrived for four after ordering by app really quickly and food wasn’t much after ,piping hot and really good value.Certainly better than our local Wetherspoons and if I were local would use on a regular basis.

This looked like an attractive Weatherspoons. We were in a group and one of the men went to the loo.A member of the kitchen staff came out of a cubicle and went out of the toilets without washing his hands.He was wearing the kitchen staff uniform of black hat and top. We did not stay to eat.

Really good value and pleasant environment. Great staff. The pricing model is so impressive; I could live there! .
