I visited this morning the hotel to deliver something to one of the hotel guest where I received an excellent guest or stakeholder services by the reception member called Paul and one girl ambassador or receptionist at the hotel reception. They helped me out of the box which is very admirable. I found an impresive atmosphere and friendly communication between team members which indicates they have received a satisfactory training by the seniors. Hope to see you again one day Thanks M Banatwala

I have to say that we’ve travelled a lot and stayed in many hotels over the years but this hotel certainly has one of THE BEST breakfasts we’ve had the pleasure of having. Not only are the staff tentative to you’re every need but friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Truly a wonderful stay and the food was the incredible highlight. Thank you to all the incredible staff here at Preston Marriott inclusive of the amazing capri for our beautiful room service. Highly rate this hotel as a home from home. All staff are a credit to Marriott/delta hotels. Happy holidays. James and Carl

During our stay at the hotel we ate our evening meal and breakfast here. Our evening meal was very good. The waitress who served us was very friendly and most professional. She was extremely busy but nothing was any trouble and she certainly went the extra mile to make our evening memorable. I would definitely visit again.

We did not stay in the hotel but booked for afternoon tea. We recieved a confirmation email with the date and time, when we arrived we were shown to the dining area by a very pleasant gentleman who gave the staff in the dining area the name our booking was under. They said we could sit at any table, which seemed strange as it should have been set up for an afternoon tea booking, then asked if we wanted tea or coffee. Drinks were brought out and we waited for the rest of the afternoon tea which did not arrive; a member of staff came to ask us if we had booked and we said yes and showed the confirmation email. He left and came back again to tell us we were not booked in (made an excuse of an invalid email, though we had recieved a confirmation) and could wait 45 minutes for afternoon tea. We said we would finish our drinks and leave, the gentleman dealing with us did apologise and said there would be no charge for the drinks we had had but it was a very disappointing experience.

I have visited here several times and find the service to be excellent. The staff were great and the drinks perfect. Notable staff included Alexandra, Shauna and Chloe who all excelled in doing a great job. The night I was in was particularly impressive and memorable, not least as I thought I saw celebrities including ‘bondgirl’ Rosamund Pike and celebrity Dani Dyer. I also spotted a friend from many years ago. It is possible that a lookalike event may have been on. The football was showing so the place was very lively. 10/10.

Booked the Marriott for the weekend and stayed in the restuarant on the Friday evening when it was quite busy but not full. The service was very good the food was served in good time and was very nice. The Sole was cooked to perfection and a fair size too, as was the Atlantic Cod. A very nice meal and reasonabley priced, well worth a visit

We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times, but this was the first time we had an evening meal here. We will be using the restaurant here again as the food and service were excellent. We both ate from the set menu and we were happy with our starters and the main courses, the only problem was I ordered the Penne Pasta and there was way too much food, but better that than not enough. We both managed to save room for dessert and we had the Chocolate Pave, which was lovely and we both enjoyed it. It was recommended by our waitress Chloe, who was lovely and remembered us from a previous visit. Great food and staff.

Whilst staying at the hotel we decided to dine in on Saturday evening. We booked a table earlier with the front desk as the place does get quite busy evenings. All three of us decided to order from the main menu and I opted for the Sumac & Lime Sea Bass with a Coriander and Fennel Salad. The Sea Bass was fantastic, cooked just right and the salad with its dressing really complimented the fish. Two opted for the Fish & Chips of Atlantic Cod and chunky chips, and these have to be the biggest chunky chips I have every seen, they were really well received and enjoyed. Service was first class with attentive staff and we all had a very enjoyable evening without feeling rushed. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Had lovely afternoon tea with good food and good service. Very easy and convenient to book. We called them in the morning and were able to get a table for that same afternoon. Afternoon tea involved unlimited tea and coffee, a good selection of sandwiches and delicious scones and cakes that you can take home if you can't finish. Atmosphere was casual and relaxed so it's nice if you want a chilled late lunch without it being too fancy. Also very reasonably priced. Would recommend to anyone.

Lovely restaurant in pretty surroundings, traditional décor, good service (note the service charge). As for the food the menu is not large but there is a specials menu too and we were able to mix and match. The food is well cooked and I had a delicious soup to start with followed by pork loin then cherry and chocolate sundae. Two of the gentlemen in our party had the same starter of buttermilk crumpet with Bury black pudding and poached egg which was very tasty but which in my opinion, and theirs, was very small. I noticed this with quite a few dishes which passed my table. Portion size can be VERY small. I don't want mounds of food but at these prices don't want to get home and have to raid the cupboard. I think it would be a good idea if extra veg were put on the table incase it was required. It is no good getting the food and then having to order extra veg as there is not enough on the plate, too late then. Also soft drinks such as cola is on draught at the bar and in a place like this I would have expected bottled, at least give a choice as draught is pretty awful stuff. All in all lovely ambience, good service, food delicious.

We booked the Marriott last minute for afternoon tea; most other places were booked up so we thought we would give it a try. The venue is really nice, and the room large, plenty of space for all the tables and parties that were in the room. There was other activities going on and the venue was busy the day we went, this didn’t cause an issue. When we all had arrived we were asked what drinks we would like, it would perhaps be better if a menu of drinks was made available. I would expect a few options of different teas and we weren’t given any options and I didn’t want to ask. Water was on the table and regularly topped up without request. Milk was also on the table for the tea, whilst I was there I had one refill of my pot I assume these are unlimited. We received a selection of sandwiches [four quarters each], salmon, cheese, ham & egg. The cakes looked impressive on the stands and consisted of about six different cakes and a scone. The selection is good, nothing out of the ordinary of ‘different’ from a usual afternoon tea. It took some time to pay our bill [over half an hour]. Overall I would recommend the Marriott for a traditional afternoon tea.

Unless you are staying in the Marriott and can't leave there is no reason to have a meal here (other than breakfast). I can't imagine that it would survive as a business if there were restaurants in walking distance. We stayed at the Marriott and had a Dinner/Bed/Breakfast deal. We will not bother next time. The food and wine are expensive. I would expect the food to be cooked better at a Marriott. The restaurant obviously has misplaced pretentions of fine dining, but who puts the starter on a piece of slate so that any liquid drips and food rolls off?

Went for Afternoon Tea on our way to Yorkshire for a break. Stated before hand that I was pregnant for dietary requirements. Was seated out of the way on such a glorious day wasn't expecting to be sat in a dark dingy area of the bar with couches so low that I struggled getting out of them. Sandwiches were dry and given that I was pregnant egg and fresh mayonnaise wasn't the best option to serve. This was a little shocking given that we were told there would be a little wait as it was being made fresh. Would also point out that it is a little rude that when paying you are asked if you want to pay the service charge, luckily we said no as none of this amount actually goes to the staff that served us

Yes you can get cheaper meals but you can't get better quality, the service is first class and something you would expect from the Four Seasons or Virgin Atlantic but the staff here are second to none. This used to be known as the Broughton Park hotel which had great atmosphere but the Marriott seems to have sanitised it a little. This is a shame because the setting, grounds and facilities are really good. The staff are efficient and trained the Marriott way ( a bit too robotic), the food is OK but they need to work on a more lively atmosphere in the bar and restaurant, it all looks a bit serious. There is nowhere else around to compete so this could be a real hub of activity with a bit more thought and effort. Great potential, just needs to be fulfilled.

My partner booked afternoon tea at the Marriott as a treat. Overall it was lovely, only a couple of suggestions for improvement: - the scones were very cold, and the ambience in the lounge/bar could have been better - it was very quiet and could have done with a little background music as sometimes felt like our conversation was echoing around the room! Think the couple next to us felt a bit awkward too. I personally would have liked cafetiere coffee and loose tea but the beverages we were served were fine. Crockery was plain, some nice patterns might have made it feel a bit more fancy. Lovely selection of cakes, sandwiches, and yummy jam and clotted cream with the scones. Staff member was also very attentive and came to offer more tea/coffee after a while. I would recommend this afternoon tea, in a lovely location and at a good price.

My daughter booked afternoon tea at this hotel for a treat for her, me and her grandmother. It turned out to be a very disappointing experience.Approaching the hotel and through the reception area we were very impressed, it was lovely, decorated really nice for christmas and immaculately clean however we were then directed through to a bar area where a table had been reserved. This was in a corner in what felt like an annexed area of the bar, with children running up and down a walkway next to us. This did not provide a good relaxing ambience conducive to an afternoon tea experience. The sandwiches and cakes were very mediocre and scones cold all obviously made much earlier and refrigerated.the cake stand was broken with no lovely china cups and saucers to be seen. The service was terrible. We had to go over to the bar to ask for our teas to be refreshed. We left feeling very letdown with my daughter feeling embarrassed as she purchased this for a gift to us.Don't bother going to this hotel a big waste of time.

I have eaten here several times over recent years as I enjoy staying at the hotel, but the most recent experience was very poor. We were on a d ,b & b rate. The set dinner was awful, the pate was greasy and tasteless and my chicken was overcooked and tough. My wife's salmon was also overcooked and dry. The vegetables were tired and guess what..they were overcooked too. Service was willing but not well trained and we waited a long time for bad food. We declined the desserts. This was one of the worst meals I've had in a while and not patch on what I have come to expect here. Perhaps they were over-stretched by a wedding party, if so they should have been better prepared as they knew how many they would be catering for. All in all, a real disappointment. Please take a lesson from the Marriott Hollins Hall Hotel in Shipley where they now have partnership with River Cottage and the food and service have been transformed.

We were eating at a local restaurant with friends and decided to stay at the Marriott rather than drive home. The hotel has a newer annex to the rear which we had stated in before, however this time we were allocated a room in the older part, we were expecting a little more 'oldie, quaint' room but the room just seemed the same as on the previous visit. We were meeting up in the hotel bar, which had very limited seating and when we did find a seat was bluntly told by a member of staff that we had to move 'as these seats are reserved'. On returning to the hotel later in the evening the car park was full with guests driving round and round hoping to get that elusive parking space, but best of all when we returned to the bar the area we had previously been moved from was still unoccupied and looked as though it had been all night. Didn't stay for breakfast in the morning, it seamed pricey and talking about price if you want to use the hotel Wifi, use the bar area as it is free for all, whilst if you wish to use the guest Wifi in your room you have to pay.

I had booked to come here with some friends to celebrate a long service award from work. Unfortunately, there was a large coach party in the other restaurant which meant we had quite a long wait for food, although we had at least been pre-warned by the staff. We weren't especially bothered about this because it gave us more chance to chat but then two of the dishes which had been ordered (salmon with couscous) turned out to be seabass and so these were sent back. It meant the other three were going to be put on a hotplate to keep warm which I was not very happy about. However, the waiter and waitress were most apologetic and brought a second bottle of wine and some dishes of sorbet to keep us going. Luckily, the three dishes which had been taken back to the kitchen to keep warm had been put aside and we were presented with three freshly prepared meals, along with the salmon replacements. You could hardly fault their customer care - we were very impressed - as they tried so hard to make us feel looked after. After our desserts, the coffees were also free. I have been to the Marriott several times in the past and would have no hesitation in returning. I think the staff did an admirable job tonight to rectify their error. The food was excellent too!

I stayed at the hotel the night before my friends wedding with the other bridesmaids. The bath was full of black mild and even had a large chip out of the enamel. We went to the bar for our evening meal but wasn't impressed. The menu was very limited and expensive but I chose fried goats cheese for starter and the Marriot burger. When the starter came I couldn't believe I'd paid £7.50- it was 6 20p size cheese balls and a bit of rocket! The barman was rude and at one point one of them disappeared with my friends debit card!!! The Sunday Lunch at Broughtons at Marriot is a little hit or miss depending on the chef and the number of bookings for that day. I have never been anywhere with such a lottery on food.My family have dined here around 12 times in the past 2 year and every time the quality and choice of food has varied. We seem to think the 3rd Sunday of the Month seems to have the most choice and the best quality. In this review, I will be more specific as to the last time I visited which was in June 2012, as this gives the restuarant the fairest comments.Ample parking and wheelchair access. The starter had a choice of cold meats, soups, fruit and cheeses. The main course was Turkey, Beef and Pork, they are generous with the meat, unlike some places and there is a wide choice of vegetables. The drinks are little on the expensive side, well more than a little and the dessert choice really is excellent but not really required on account of the two other course feeding you full.If you get the day right, this is the best sunday lunch in the Preston area. If you get the day wrong, then its so so.

We visited the Leyland Lion with family and friends we've been a few times before and it's been great sadly on this visit it wasn't.The pub was very busy which is fine as it was a Friday afternoon. We needed a table that seated five but struggled to get one. After a few minutes we manged to find one however the table was still full of empty plates and food.I went to the bar and politely asked a female staff member could someone please come and clear and clean our table. At the time she was tapping away on a tablet I assume sorting out app orders. The look she gave me was awful she didn't even reply just nodded her head in what looked like annoyance that I'd interrupted her or even asked. She did come to clean the table but her face was now like thunder.Me and my wife thanked her and again got no response then all the while we were in the pub spending a lot of money she just scowled in our direction. This won't stop us visiting the pub in the future but staff need to learn to be polite. One more point is I understand it was busy but having worked a lot in pubs myself in the past there's nothing worse than saying to customers Who's next this just causes friction staff should be actually clocking who's next??..
