Our visit was for our daughters birthday. The hotel was attractive and the staff very attentive and friendly. I had booked a week ago and was a little surprised that they were not expecting us and had to set a table for four people, however they apologised and swiftly seated us. We had the room to ourselves and the staff took our orders, the service was very efficient. The starters were fine but unfortunately the mains were very disappointing. The men enjoyed their meal of pork belly but my daughter and myself had the steak which were very unpleasant, mainly because they were burnt on the outside and raw on the inside, we had ordered medium steaks. The staff very kindly offered to only charge us for one of the steak meals and gave us complimentary coffees because it was my daughters birthday. As this was our first visit i would hope that this was an off day, it didn’t spoil my daughters birthday as the staff were so good.

We had lunch at Farington Lodge. The setting and surrounding grounds are beautiful and I should think it would be ideal for a wedding. The meal, however, was adequate for the most part, but not really good. The beef was too rare and very tough. I can't fault the service which was nothing short of excellent. It is a pity that in such a beautiful place and with such excellent service the food doesn't live up to expectations. The drinks prices too were high.

If I'm being honest the food was not very good. But the staff and service really made the day feel special. The service was excellent, staff happy, smiley and jovial. Starter course of Goats Cheese Tart, was dry and tasteless. Main course of Turkey was okay, but the carrots were awful, very hard and the colour of them was a little off putting - they were greyish in colour. Desert very tasteless. Still the atmosphere was excellent, and the waiting staff made the day!

Just got home after a fabulous lunch at Farington Lodge. From the moment we arrived the service was exemplary, nothing was too much trouble. Started with poached eggs and black pudding with a crisp piece of pancetta and a chicken liver parfait. All beautifully presented and very tasty. For the main course we had roast beef and honey baked gammon. Both served with roast potatoes and new, a good selection of vegetables and an enormous Yorkshire pudding which was delicious. We asked for extra gravy and that arrived, piping hot. Couldn’t fault it except that there was perhaps a little too much for us. Managed to squeeze in puddings and cheese, Eton mess and lemon posset, superb. Had our coffee in the lounge on comfy sofas, very relaxing. The bill was a pleasant surprise which is always nice. It is on the list and we will definitely return. Thank you for such a good lunch from beginning to end.

Having been given a present to have afternoon tea we decided, from the list of participating venues, to go to the Farington Lodge in Leyland. Having booked prior to out visit we arrived at the hotel and the reception took some information from our confirmation email. We were then shown through to the elegant room where afternoon teas were being served. We were shown to a nice table, located by a window with views into the garden. The waiter showed us the menu and explained we could choose up to two toppings for our sandwiches. He also asked if we wanted drinks then or wanted to wait till the food was brought to us. My wife asked for coffee, which arrived very quickly. After a short period our order was taken and it was only another short wait till the food was brought to us. The food and caked were nicely presented and fresh. On the whole it was a very civilized experience and one we would like to do agin in the future. I would recommend this venue to my friends and family, also taking them there. PLEASE NOTE WE DID NOT EAT IN THE RESTAURANT BUT A PRIVATE ROOM.

I bought my wife a virgin experience day voucher and she decided she want us to go to Farington Lodge for a 3 course meal. The food was mediocre at best and there was no atmosphere at all, but the worst part was when the bill arrived and we were told that we had to pay a supplement for some of the food we eaten, as it was covered by the voucher.Surely we should have been told this before we ordered!!!!So I paid £70 for the voucher and then I paid another £60 for food supplements and drinks.Like I sad the food was ok, but not great, I could have gone to somewhere else to get better food at a cheaper price. And to top it off both me and my wife feel sick today!!!!

We had Afternoon Tea, Dinner and Breakfast in the Garden restaurant whilst staying at the hotel and every one was define. The Afternoon tea was served on beautiful two tier glass dishes, then for Dinner we started in the bar area where we ordered a bottle of Champagne, the waiter then showed us to our table after taking our order, the service and food throughout the whole meal was impeccable. The view over the Gardens gives just a lovely, romantic ambience. We loved it and will return.

A friend of mine had recently become hooked on afternoon teas and whilst I have enjoyed them for years, it was fun to try out different venues with her. Farington Lodge was roughly equidistant between our two houses so we agreed to give it a try. It wasn't the best afternoon tea I've ever had but neither was it the worst. However, the scones were as dry as dog biscuits and the carrot cake was somewhat dry. The sandwiches had been very good though and there was a decent choice on the menu, from which we could pick two different fillings each. The waiter was very obliging but had a very difficult (foreign) accent which we both struggled to understand. After a while, we asked for a fresh pot of tea and this came with clean cups which was a nice touch I thought (not all places think of this).Although we paid full price, many of the tables in the dining room seemed to be using Dealmonster or Travelzoo vouchers. I would say that Farington Lodge looks rather tired and could do with a revamp.

Was given a voucher to go for afternoon tea, the voucher had expired however the woman on the phone ensured us that this was okay so long as we booked at in time, which obviously we had done, however the woman who came to our table essentially accused us of lying, "nobody on the phone would have done that" - well they did.. They reluctantly honoured the voucher. We were then treated with sub-par, BO ridden service, the waiter actually took my coffee away before I had finished with it, without asking. Food wasn't terrible. But had I actually paid the full price for some mediocre finger sandwiches with uneven/missing fillings, I'd have been pretty irate.Don't bother.

We have been to Farington Lodge previously for afternoon tea and enjoyed it but on this occasion we found the food of poor value. Although we went on a Virgin Experience voucher for what would have cost £17 we received good, polite service with nice tea and coffee but very under seasoned egg sandwiches which made fairly tasteless, coronation chicken sandwiches and turkey sandwiches which I couldn't tell apart on taste, cranberry scones which we couldn't get a knife through and a dry cake we couldn't classify. Very disappointing overall and very poor value. Not somewhere we'll rush back to.

Attended a Christmas function in the Jubilee Suite. The service was prompt the food was no better than expected when dealing with a large Christmas function. Prior to dinner we had drinks at the bar and I queried the cost as I thought it was excessive. I was told the white wine spritzer was £7.35 and the reason was that white wine was more expensive than red ! The following dayI telephoned the hotel and queried the cost of the bar bill and the prices given were considerably less than I had paid. They promised to call back which they duly did and I was informed that Pinot Grigio had been used in the spritzer and not the usual house white and they duly apologised. I would advise being very specific when placing an order at this bar.

I visited Farington Lodge with 12 work colleagues for afternoon tea, having booked beforehand. Seeing as we all work in a local hotel which also serves afternoon tea, we were very particular and noticed every little detail from the fancy style of plates and cups to the classy table setting - and was impressed by all this.We was given 5 choices of sandwiches cut into fingers - two of these choices were vegetarian which was good as some were vegetarian but didn't notify beforehand. And there was so much of it - we just couldn't eat it all!The cakes were absolutely amazing; lemon drizzle cake, carrot cake, macaroon and of course big scones with jam and clotted cream on the side. All tasted incredible and fresh and again there was so many cakes!Staff were very attentive as we had constant refills of tea and coffee with jugs of water on the table aswell.Hotel is set in beautiful grounds and we sat outside in the sun afterwards. Thanks for a lovely experience!

We went to Farington Lodge for afternoon tea. The waiter who attended to us was very helpful and obliging. The tea was plentiful and quite good value. Two of us had the champagne tea and one the "ordinary" tea (without the champagne) but we were given an extra glass of champagne and a pot of tea for my elderly mother in law. There was a good choice of sandwiches and the helping was generous. The cakes were also quite good, although the scones (two each!) were a little dry. I was just a bit disappointed that the food was not a bit more special. It was also a shame that we were the only customers (apart from a wedding party in another part of the hotel.

A Virgin Experience Day was given to my wife and I as a Christmas pressie and we waited for a sunny Summer day to use it. I phoned them at lunchtime and they booked us in on the same day. The service throughout was very good, but the quality of the food was lacking in originality. The sandwhiches were on fresh bread and were tasty. However, the choice of cakes was poor. Small scones were solid although there was plenty of cream and jam to go with them. The other 3 types of cake were very ordinary and lacked any Wow factor. We get a free magazine 'Live Preston & Fylde' and in issue 39 they do a feature on Afternoon Teas. The Cobbled Corner in Chipping Lancs, Bartle Hall and Stanley Hall all show a much better selection than at Farington Lodge. The management at Farington need to go out and see what other hotels can offer. They do get Virgin voucher holders like us but we won't be going back again

Visited earlier in the year for a wedding.Lovely building and grounds, staff very attentive and friendly, drinks expensive, but in expect this at a wedding, disappointed about the lack of crisps or any other snack behind the bar, was looked to like I'd just landed when I enquired about a packet of cheese and onion ! Perhaps that particular member of staff disagreed with the flavour combination, either way there were no potato snacks of any kind forthcoming !The wedding breakfast was okay, I wasn't bowled over, but the organisation for the day was very good, overall if you are considering having your wedding here then I would definitely recommend, but bring your own crisps, as long as they're not cheese and onion.

After receiving a Virgin Experience Voucher for a Champagne Afternoon Tea, I chose to visit Farington Lodge, Preston. Well it was certainly an 'Experience' although not one which I would like to repeat or for anybody else to endure. The receptionist was friendly and advised my daughter and I that our table was ready, we were then taken to what I can only describe as a room which was 20 years out of date. The waiter offered tea or coffee and that was the only choice we were given, I would have liked a choice of different teas and perhaps fillings for the sandwiches. I personally prefer sandwiches without butter (to be honest I should have requested this) as the amount of butter on the sandwiches was as thick as the fillings. The fillings themselves were salmon/cucumber, ham/mustard and cheese/tomato, all of which were mediocre to say the least. The scones were okay as was the maderia cake and walnut cake but nothing amazing. It was nice that replenishment of tea was offered, hiowever, no champagne as detailed in the package was offered. On arrival home my daughter felt decidedly unwell, one can only put this down to something which she may have eaten. I will not be returning to Farington Lodge and I would suggest any other Virgin Experience voucher holders, go elsewhere. The

Having stayed recently in a couple of other hotels in the area, I found this the most comfortable. My (standard) room was clean, comfortable and looked as though it had been recently refurbished. The TV could have been bigger (why do hotels have such small screens which you are expected to be able to see from the bed?!) but everything else was fine. Even had a 'proper' hair dryer rather than one fixed into a drawer with too short a lead to reach your head! I found the service at reception, bar and restaurant excellent and the food good. I am pleased to find a more comfortable business stopover and will certainly stay again. My rate (booked on-line) was £2 less than the cheapest Premier Inn for a much greater level of comfort.

We ate here for my wifes birthday and both regret doing so. As has previously been mentioned the whole place has a dated look and lacks any ambience or warmth. Our initial impression of the food was how good it was and as usual we tried a sample of each others food. On paying the, not insubstantial, bill my wife commented on how good the food had been. 20 minutes later at home, after starting to feel queasy, my wife was sick. 2hrs later I was also sick. The following day we returned and related the facts to the Operations Manager who said they would investigate. After 6 days of hearing nothing I phoned them and demanded some response, I also had to again tell them the facts of the previous week. Finally after 9 days we received a letter saying they had found no evidence that their restaurant was responsible for our being ill. As I said, it was coincidental.

I took a party of 27 adults and 8 children for Sunday lunch on September 2nd 2012 having previously given the hotel the individual requirements for each person save for 4 adults who joined us at the last minute. The lunch was scheduled to start at 1245pm but they were running late so we sat down at 1315hrs. We waited for the first course for approximately 45 minutes, and then had to endure another long wait of a similar time span for the main course which was not worth waiting for. The chicken on the menu was cooked to absolute dryness and the pork for all intents and purpose could have been a sausage disguised by a covering of sauce such was the size and lack of taste, and the mange tout were grossly overcooked. One member of the party hadto wait a further 15 minutes whilst his meal arrived, by this time everyone else had finished. This establishment should be avoided at all costs, it was highway robbery for very little food.
