Very good breakfast value for money all the staff are great

Lov it right in the heart of town,

Weatherspoon is always consistent...service is prompt, atmosphere ok and food is good, honest pub grub BUT...for some time now I want to complain about tomatoes in breakfast deals... Please Whetherspoon, start using ripe tomatoes because there are the only thing I always leave on my plate but I actually love them, just not the ones you do.

Usual Wetherspoons. I did enjoy the Apple Crumble though which is Gluten free 👍

Food really good, especially the small fish & chips. Food, wine reasonably priced.

Always a good starter pub or somewhere if you want to chat with family and friends. Staff are helpful and friendly and they work hard to bring everything to you especially as you can order through the app. It obviously gets busy so sometimes hard to find a table but it's still great value the drink prices are just amazing and the food well we all know it's cooked from frozen but you know what, they do it very well and the prices are great would recommend anytime for any occasion they do seems to cater to everyone 😁

One Spoons I felt didn't do the usual narrative justice. I really did think this would have been somewhat exceptional in respect to the Leyland birthright. It wasn't bad but could have been so so much better. I would have has old bus seats, truck radiators and such

Seems to have improved a lot. I hadn't been for a while as it wasn't very good the last time I visited. I recently went in as a last minute plan and was pleasantly surprised. Looks like there may have been new staff taken on. All the tables were clean and tidy. The food came out hot and to a good standard. Good value for money.

We love wetherspoons. But we found this place absolutely great when we visited on Saturday. But when we visited on Monday evening the service was horrendous. Our food sat on the pass for a long time so much so it was cold. Getting a drink took along time considering it was quiet.

I absolutely loved the leyland lion infact im going there now it was that good ! I highly recommend this place and the food was excellent i had a pizza and halloumi fries. The staff were very nice and pleasant i highly recommend the leyland lion. GO THERE NOW!!!!!!!

No atmosphere, food is poor with cheap ingredients used, frozen chips etc, drinks are good.

Very poor. Food was Luke warm, frozen chips, only hot thing on my mixed grill was the sausage. Cheap ingredients used, coffee was acceptable with free refills but poor quality. Staff are friendly enough but could do to smile a bit more. Atmosphere is zero. The building is very nicely done.

We called in for a bit of lunch and were told that there was a fifteen or twenty minute wait on the food. We said that this was fine. Thirty two minutes later our food had not arrived and two families who came after us were served with food. My wife informed the waiter of our wait and I pointed out the families who had ordered after us and already been served. He said, That can’t happen. They do one ticket at a time.” and walked away. Instead of lying to customers and being abrupt, he should have attempted to ascertain why it did happen. One of the families nearby even apologised for jumping the queue, but we assured her that it wasn’t her fault. Never again!

4 of us went for breakfast this morn at 1130 and was utter chaos!! Only 1 person on bar and taking orders wasn't very friendly and obviously wasn't happy at job!!! Finally got meals 2 volld 1 ok and 1 stoge cold ?? Obviously bin sat waiting for other meals took back and changed it was ok not Brill lots people in saying same bad service cold food etc but surely more staff should be on at busy times we appreciate its hard work on ur own but staff should at least be little more pleasant and explain short staffed shame coz it's local to us and has put us off

It's always busy her when come for a drink. Never really eaten her, I know it's cheap and that.

The food here couldn't be presented with any less care. In fact, ordering from McDonald's would be presented better than this.

First time visiting Leyland lion the place is impeccably clean the staff are very friendly the food was delicious my opinion it is one of the best wetherspoons we've eaten in.

Good atmosphere and very friendly

Went in for a good night and some drinks met with a horrible shift leader who decided she didn't want to serve us due to our table number being shared with friends and was receiving birthday drinks and snacks I suggest if she doesn't like serving what is on the menu then to find a new job and maybe let us know next time that you aren't serving us instead I had to ask where our order was table 46 30/01/2025 if the owner wants to do anything about it.

Good pub, food and drinks arrive promptly and very good value for money still. Staff are busy but friendly with a good rotation of beers constantly.

Average Wetherspoons pub. Feels like the quality of the ingredients has gotten worse in the last few months. No fault of the cooks just that what they’re given to work with is not as good as a few years back. And this is consistent across the pubs not just this one

Awful service, when our food was brought over they had missed my son's breakfast. When I queried this they told me that it had been taken over and sent a member of staff to look. Obviously when they looked they saw it wasn't there. Instead of apologizing for the lack of food and then calling me a liar, they just reiterated that they thought they'd sent it. My partner had bacon missing from his plate and when they added some for him it was cold to touch. We asked for a refund and were only offered the 2 items that were missing/wrong though the lady behind the till did apologize. I do want to note that in the past I have only had positive experiences here. This was just a very disappointing visit.

Only 6and 3 year old ate all there meal . 3 adults left there breakfast. 1 had breakfasto fried egg red hot and hard and dry toast cold and dry rest of breakfast cold . 1 adult scrambled egg on toast egg dry and tasteless cold toast not buttered properly.1 adult avocado and tomato very spicy to much red onion. Children had pancakes didn't get a sauce with them so dry but ate them .

It's nearly half price for a pint, cheap and cheerful you might say. You know what you're getting and it's consistent. What is there not to like about it.

Was really disappointed. Had to go and ask someone to come and wipe our table which was sticky. Waitress was not happy, I said thank you twice and she just ignored me. Had a cappuccino which wasn’t a cappuccino (it was a self service) perhaps machine wasn’t right. My son asked for a rare steak and got a well done one.

Cold food even after waiting 20 minutes offered a replacement meal which I declined but no refund offered amazing

Not a place I will be returning too anytime soon,kept trying to take drinks away that had been paid for claiming that it was not mine.awful customer service.

Unfortunately, our visit to the Leyland lion was a very poor experience, especially when compared to the usual decent standards we’ve come to expect. First, we were brought a drink that was visibly damaged, looking like it had been kicked around before being served. This was not the start we had hoped for. When our food arrived, it didn’t improve. The beans and sausages were cold, and the breakfast wrap looked as though it had been mishandled before being placed on the plate. To make matters worse, halfway through our cold breakfast, we had to move so a member of staff could access a cupboard to turn the heating down because another customer nearby was too hot. (This customer was sitting right next to a radiator.) But by far the worst part of the meal was the sheer number of tiny flies around our table — it was unbelievable. Overall, this was a dreadful experience, and we left feeling extremely disappointed. I hope this is a one-off, but it certainly wasn’t what we’ve come to expect from Wetherspoons.

The local watering hole, a spoons is a spoons and this one really is a spoons. Decent meals and great for a drink or two or three or four.

Just nobody can beat the price of cask ale in there.. Quite a good selection on. Ideal for a good breakfast..👍

Spent 20mins trying to get an app order through. Wouldn’t go past Apple Pay and froze. Re downloaded app same happened again. 1 girl serving asked a gaggle of staff members if anyone could serve me was told no. There was a bunch of young girls all under 18 from our estate ordering drinks individually girl who was serving was going as fast as possible . Really annoyed this place has gone seriously down hill. Used to go weekly no chance past few years poor with no visable leaders and no staff

We visited the Leyland Lion with family and friends we've been a few times before and it's been great sadly on this visit it wasn't.The pub was very busy which is fine as it was a Friday afternoon.We needed a table that seated five but struggled to get one.After a few minutes we manged to find one however the table was still full of empty plates and food.I went to the bar and politely asked a female staff member could someone please come and clear and clean our table.At the time she was tapping away on a tablet I assume sorting out app orders.The look she gave me was awful she didn't even reply just nodded her head in what looked like annoyance that I'd interrupted her or even asked.She did come to clean the table but her face was now like thunder.Me and my wife thanked her and again got no response then all the while we were in the pub spending a lot of money she just scowled in our direction.This won't stop us visiting the pub in the future but staff need to learn to be polite.One more point is I understand it was busy but having worked a lot in pubs myself in the past there's nothing worse than saying to customers Who's next this just causes friction staff should be actually clocking who's next??..

Not as good as other weatherspoons

Called at this pub on our way to Blackburn yesterday. How disappointing this pub is, tables not cleared and dirty, food all over the floor and in general seems no one seems to care. Needs to have a refurb.

Excellent. Haggis, neeps & tatties with a Scottish alcoholic drink, £6.95. A single measure of Bells whisky with a ginger ale mixer 99p.Mammy,Daddy, that's braw. Ye jist canny whack it!

It's a wetherspoons, you know what your going to get

Awful night , they have a manager that knows nothing about hospitality Maddie I think her name, went around asking all locals to drink up at 3 min past the hour insisting she had a long shift and wanted to go home , telling people that they would be barred if they didn't get out by 10 past, this was within the 20/30 min drinking up time set by wetherspoons !!

Awful, simply awful the management really do need to learn the rules also learn hospitality towards customers , disgusting management, feel sorry for the staff under them

Ordered a chicken burger through the app . It arrived and the chicken was so cold . It was like it was the precooked frozen chicken that was defrosted and just put on the bun . Bar staff and manager were good and refunded me the money . Other than food it was a good night

Food very poor. Cold lumpy gravy. 10 peas. No filling in what is ment to be a steak and kindney pie. Shortcrust? Pastry or burnt. Who no's. No response from staff reguarding complaint. Just gave un-eaton meal back and walked away. Defo not as described.

This was a fantastic pub for drinking, with a bright and cosy interior! The green colour pattern is really nice and funnel on the wall is an interesting addition, counter is well-presented too. I had a refreshing pint of Kopparberg, appreciating the outdoor seating which was also clean!

What can I say we have been coming here my sister and myself for years , to day was ,not good we ordered fish and chips ,peas it looked ok when it came but it was not the case ,chips were like warm peas cold my fish was all hard batter ,a bit of hard fish in the middle my sister's fish was lovely white and crispy ,the manager just stud there grinning and saying they were both the same , she offered us two coffee to take out we would have insisted ,to change the food , but we had to get to Chorley hospital of 3 very very rude server who we spoke to going outy sister asked the lady who had just got herfood how was it she said not good just warm chips warm told the same person walking past with food she just grinedat what she said I would never inploy a person like her not good for the place

We used to use this 'Spoons regularly, but it has really gone down hill. I popped in for a breakfast today to kill time, and I now wish I hadn't bothered. I ordered a Small American Breakfast and every item on the plate was luke warm. I would have complained, but I just couldn't be bothered. When I finished the meal, I pushed the plate to the side, and it was collected promptly, but here's the worst bit! The waitress couldn't even be bothered to ask me if I had enjoyed my breakfast. Of course, I was ready with a " No, it was cold!", but I wasn't even given the opportunity to say it. I won't be back any time soon. Wetherspoons Leyland, you have lost a customer!

Driving from Scotland to Wiltshire needed a break and food but not prepared to pay motorway prices The Leyland Lion is just 1 mile from the motorway- perfect!

Great pub , staff are really good and friendly and also try there very best when it's busy . Great team of people . Food is very good value and is quite good too , Massive selection of drinks and some good deals at times

Orded from the app turns out after waiting 30 minutes they had ran out of what was ordered came with a replacement, charged the card used on the app £4+ & then tuck the drink back when i contested! What a waste & it was chuck away 🤣 I know it's only a few quid but should of been told that I was being charged rather than unlawfully taking the money with out asking.

Large premises. Tidy and clean and good service . Upstairs toilets not a good idea,especially since up a fairly narrow staircase.

It's a wetherspoons, the greggs of pubs - it could be really nice but tables are rarely clear and definitely not clean. Staff seem to struggle as food often arrives long before drinks ordered at the same time.. Has potential but I'll still go as it's cheap and food is ok.

3 meals ordered :- Burger & Chips - poorly presented & cold chips Scampi & Chips - cold chips but scampi was nice Sirloin Steak - more fat & inedible rind than meat. Short staffed, waited unreasonable time for food and at times only one person behind the bar serving. Staff whilst weren’t unfriendly, didn’t appear to be happy in their work and no atmosphere. Give it a miss in future

Food was great, had a sweet chilli wrap. Good portion offered, staff helpful. Only downside we had was someone came over asking if we ordered a delivery of a pizza, had the box in his hand.

Great service and even spoke to an employee who was going to teach Spanish! And she spoke Spanish great prices also!

One of our fave Spoons this. First time visit today but definitely going again. Very nice inside - turn left rather than right to avoid Mums n babies lol. Staff nice and food great. Had breakfast with loads of extras like porched egg & black pudding. Gorgeous!!

It's a Wetherspoons Cheap & cheerful & decently priced Real Ales

This pub is a typical spoons but with some interesting additional featues that celebrate the towns motor manufacturing heritage. You can sit in bus seats and enjoy the many photographs and wall art that pay homage to the motor industry. Toilets are upstairs, there is a good outside area to the rear (complete with old red phone box) but no parking on site. The pub is pretty big so you should not have much trouble with being accommodated. Watch out for the usual unbeatable offers of a drink with you meal. We all had something different and was happy with our choices!.

It's one of my favourite JD Wetherspoons, staff always friendly and the food is always piping hot.

Came here as a meeting place before we headed out on Friday. The place is absolutely filthy, dirty floors, sticky tables, lipstick marks on all the glasses the three of us got. Toilets leave a lot to be desired. Very disappointing

Ordered 6 meals all came stone-cold the waitress replaced all the meals . But hard to believe aches can send out 1 cold meal let alone 6.

Came in to have some breakfast before going to music in the park. Kelly was absolutely fabulous and so polite, even though she was run off her feet doing both bar and food service. Only put 4 stars for food because they missed my mushroom, but Kelly ran back and got me one without any fuss. What a lovely member of staff.

Very good choices on drinks be alcoholic or not with an extensive food menu that is keenly priced to suit all pockets. Noticed several elderly couples drinking limitless coffee, drinkers enjoying cheap ales and families seated enjoying their meals. Today’s offerings were the curry club with drinks included in the total price, slightly more cost for garlic naans and bowl of chips. Ok meals of tikka masala and vindalo curries with rice and popadoms not overly large but decent mix of curry to rice.

I'm in Leyland for work training, and we called into The Leyland Lion for a lunch break. I've used a few Wetherspoons and have always found them great value, and this one is no exception, it's nice and clean, and staff were welcoming and friendly, the furniture is spread out nicely so it's not to cramped together. As always I found it a lot quicker to got the bar to order my food, while a few others used the app, I had a jacket potato with beans and salad, it was presented nicely cooked spot on, didn't take too long to arrive at my table. The price was good as you would expect at Wetherspoons, and the soft drinks are the cheapest out there, most pubs you go to are a rip of for soft drinks. Well done The Leyland Lion, I would recommend this place to anyone passing through.

Clean tables and floors! One of the best Wetherspoon pubs. Decent food, decent price. Staff are friendly and helpful. Great for the on the spare of the moments decision to eat out. Breakfast menu is varied.

Another wetherspoons pub food ok drinks well priced. Only problem was some very rowdy men at table near us had to move because of language and we had our 6 year old granddaughter with us. Otherwise ok we try to find a wetherspoons pub wherever we are.

Great food and drink choices - very cheap place for drinks. The atmosphere is lacking a little bit as the lights are too bright and there is no music at all however, it is the same at all wetherspoons so that is to be expected.

As always good food and good selection of craft ales pleasant surroundings very busy place.

The short blonde woman that was on shift as deputy manager on Tuesday 2nd April is the rudest cow I’ve ever come across. Dont go here if you want friendly service. Completely ruined our night and she shouldn’t be working in a customer facing role. Sort your staff out at this location. Even the other girl serving us was rude.

Seems to have declined somewhat since our last visit. Looks like it could do with a good clean. Went for breakfast, bacon was hard on one plate and extremely fatty on the other, toast was warmed stale bread and eyes you'd take an eye out if thrown. Staff looked fed up. Hoping this negative visit is a one off as we do enjoy a Spoons breakfast.
