AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Was in here two weeks ago and saw a guy glass another guy. 3 feet away from me. Told the landlady and the guy was still in the pub 50 mins later. After reviewing the CCTV footage she said he'd been barred. Just walked in and I see him laughing it up with his cronies. Apparently he's a local drug dealer (although that's purely hearsay from a couple of people who were talking to me about him). Landlady told me that the guy who did the glassing was barred. When I informed her I saw him tonight she told me that she'd "received complaints about me too". Now I've never glassed anyone or been violent to anyone and I always buy the bar staff drinks so I'm not sure exactly what these "complaints" that she's so vague about are...

Not even worth one star! Booked in advance for five adults including my 90 year old Father and two children under 6 years old. Immediately after putting down the phone we were called back to confirm the time of our booking. We turned up promptly at 4pm on a cold wet evening to be informed that they didn’t know what time we would arrive so there was no table for us. We were told to find seats if we could between three TVs blaring out football and many inebriated customers. Never again, we would rather go hungry. It was the proprietor who took our booking, she obviously has no idea how to run a business.

The Pear Tree InnPrestonWorst pub meal we have EVER eaten.636081492I have just arrived home after taking the m-i-l and wifey out to eat here, and decided to look on TripAdvisor and see just what other people had said about this place in the recent past.I don’t understand where some of these reviewers have been with their comments about great meals...but OUR experience was far from any of these reviews.....Whilst waiting at the bar area to be served, I was talking with a customer who was having a drink in the bar...I was told that there were better options open to us like a Chinese takeaway or a chippy T, but I replied it couldn’t be that bad as there were a few people in the pub but he said that as it was at the junction of the main roads, people used it for a drink or 2 on the way home...(Paul Jenkins...local male)Anyway, we decided that we were going to stay & have our meal there...but....HOW WRONG WE WERE IN STAYING.....The food was not well presented on the plate, it looked anything but appetising..but we stayed and attempted to eat the meals we had ordered....after waiting some 45-50mins from order to placement....yet we were (at that time), the only people who were eating then...so what was the wait....the person behind the bar stated that the chef was new and still trialling the equipment in the kitchen, as things were a bit different to where he worked previously....Hmmmmm..the fish had “sloppy” batter on the inside coating and the steak had a seam of gristle through the centre which spoiled that, and when we asked for the bill...I pointed out to the lady who brought it to us that the food was not cooked very well and if the male who took the plates away had waited just a few minutes longer, she would have seen that all 3 meals were hardly touched...I asked if we could have the bill reduced but she refused....Would we go here again....NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS....which is a shame as we have friends living less than 100 yds away from the pub, who, when we spoke with them 2days afterwards, they told us of their own last visit to the Pear Tree.....but.... that’s for them to write their own review about....In MY opinion, you will be better off going down the road for a chippy T...or a takeaway....terrible food...terrible service.Star Inns have been written to regarding this terrible food and extremely poor customer service...

My party of 4 adults and 2 children are at the Pear Tree early evening of Monday 6th August . It took over 45 minutes for the meals to arrive. I had ordered from the Specials Board, Sweet Chilli Chicken and Rice. The chicken was very dry and tough with very little sweet chilli. I asked the waitress if I could have more Sweet Chilli as the chicken was very dry. After checking with the chef she advised they had ran out of Sweet Chilli. She did offer to change my meal but with already waiting nearly an hour for our meal and then eating on my own 1 hour after the rest of my party I declined and advised her accordingly. When my family member paid the bill we were charged the full amount for this meal. Our bill was over £93.00. When we were leaving I advised the waitress I was not happy at being charged the full amount for this meal to which she advised, “well you ate it”. What happened to good old customer service. Won’t be back. .

Although we waited a while for our food it was lovely when it came, nice thick gammon steak, my partner had the steak and caramelised onion baguette and my daughter had a salad, all very nice. The lad behind the bar was slow but I think he was new, polite though. They apologised for the wait on food but we were in no rush. There were a few young kids working around but all seemed pleasant. The lady in charge was nice and was quite chatty. Overall a good meal for about £12 a head with drinks. Will return.

Grand little place nicely decorated and promised Fine Cask Ale although the selection was disappointingly down to one! Food menu very varied with much to offer from light bites to the full deal. To be honest not much difference in portion size of light bite rump to the 8oz promise! I'd go light if I return which offers lunchtime value! Biggest problem if you're a chip connoisseur, rather limp, rather dull and informed they're home double cooked... More chips arrived but similar to initial offering. (Sort this and it's a winner). So the big picture is they cook steak really well "take mi cap off" but there's a struggle to meet the simple chip standards... must also say the home made steak and ale pie on the other hand was truly grand. I guess this one's a mixed bag. Don't let the chips put you off it may just be a moment in time but not having a selection of cask ales as promised is a tad too much to take from my point of view!

Haven't visited this Pub for a number of years and knowing it has recently been refurbished 3 of us visited last night - what a disappointment as there were no Cask Ales available. The only alternatives were lagers or John Smiths Bitter! Additionally the Liverpool / Man U game was due on and a good number of people were in the Bar. Come on guys, you need to ensure that a Pub has decent beer available??!! My local is now The Fleece and I cannot recall them ever having run out of Beer, nor for that matter The Black Bull.

I visited here today with my boyfriend for some lunch! When we walked in we were quite surprised by how nice it looks! Everything was clean and modern and it had a nice atmosphere even though it was quiet! The bar staff were friendly although we did think that some of the staff let the pub down with the way that they were dressed! 1 girl looked like she had just got out of bed! We ordered starters and had the Bruschetta and the bbq ribs which were AMAZING! So good! However the mains were a bit of a let down! My hotpot was not worth the money, it was burnt around the edges and there was not much of it! Plus it was just full of chewy potatoes, I probably should of said something at the time but to be fair it did taste really good! As i said most of the staff were smily and friendly but there was more staff than customers and they were all gathered at the end of the bar near to where we sat! We couldn't really have a proper conversation as we found that we were having to shout over the staff having there own personal conversations! Plus the fact that they were probably too eager to collect our plates, we hadn't even finished eating but we could feel eyes constantly looking over at us! Under pressure! My boyfriend is a chef and he hated the fact that chefs were wandering around the bar area and serving food! It looks bad! We would eat here again but I wouldn't make it a regular thing! But the owner seems to be a lot better than the last woman that had it!

Was really disappointed. Had to go and ask someone to come and wipe our table which was sticky. Waitress was not happy, I said thank you twice and she just ignored me. Had a cappuccino which wasn’t a cappuccino (it was a self service) perhaps machine wasn’t right. My son asked for a rare steak and got a well done one.
